    You have put things in perspective. I am sure most of us were under the impression that brown rice is good for diabetics.
    But you have analysed the rice composition and made us aware that it is not the colour of rice that determines the GI but it is the composition of the rice that determines the GI.
    If it has more Amylose (rice is non-sticky after cooking) it is better for diabetics to have such rice once a while.

      @@Diabexy jyadatar baaki diabetes consultant doctors bhi brown rice ka glycemic index Kam batate he white rice se. Glycemic index jaha tak mera khyaal he practical research ke adhaar par set Kiya jata he.
      Aapne Jo bataya he wo theorical concept ke hisaab se bataya he.
      Lekin agar practical research data aur theoretical conclusions agar aapas me match nahi kar rahe he, to mere khyaal se iska matlab he ki ya to theoretical concept galat he ya fir koi baat he jo miss ho jaa rahi he theoretical concept me??
      Aapki kya raay he iss baare me??

    I would like to give one suggestion that You should start diabetic restaurants chain in all over india and world which will serve foods for diabetes patients which contains low GL,GI and Low carb in breakfast, lunch and dinner with smoothies and desserts or you can start diabetes food tiffin service in india or world and it will be super hit because many people are not able to maintain low GI, GL, low cab food at home but they can directly eat from diabetes restaurant. Think about this idea

    I recently seen a video claiming that when cooked rice is kept in refrigerator for few hours then its GL is significantly reduced. I checked this on Google also and Google confirms this.

    Very informative Sir. Does method of cooking makes any difference. Generally we use the example of rise cooked in pressure cooker. But there is another method which is boiled method. In which rise and extra waste water is separated. In boiled method rise remain bikhra bikhra ,not very sticky. Sir please connect me if I am wrong?

      No matter how you prepare rice, it will always have high carbs, so rice should be avoided in diabetes

    Some people say to cook rice with more water and remove the starch to make it GI low. Is it so?

      yes that is better way to cook rice but this technique also will be able to reduce glycemic load by 1 or 2 % only

    No solution for problem but require to solve the problem from root.

    Parboiled rice has higher percentage of amylose as a lot of amylopectin gets eliminated. Moreover heating involved in making parboiled rice converts a lot of amylopectin into resistant starch which is hard to break down. Also eating lactic acid with starches makes them slower to digest. That is why the best option is to eat parboiled rice with curd.

      24 hours refrigeration make the starch present in rice resistant.
      First boil and drain the water having starch.
      In addition refrigerate the rice for 24 hours.

      It doesn't effect much on it's glycemic load, it remains the same, more or less, so rice should be eliminated completely from the diet of Diabetic patients.

    Minimum carb. Is found in boiled rice I.e about 30 %per 100 grm, compared to 75% in white rice & brown rice. You have not mentioned a word about this ??? Surprising !!!

    Sir, you said that if rice is sticky then it is high glycemic and if not sticky then low glycemic. But rice will be sticky depending on how much water is used no? More water means more sticky rice I think. So whether good for diabetics or not cannot be decided by stickyness of rice hain na? Please advise.

    Thank you Sir, for your information. But as per my experience, preparing rice sticky or loose depends on water added and time taken to cook. Is there any other way to decide which rice is better for diabetic people ?

      Yes, sticky or loose depends upon water added. 2.Also depends upon new or old rice. 3. Prepare rice with more water n filter water after rice is cooked. Maximum starch/carbohydrate is thus eliminted. Never cook rice in cooker.

      @@vijayaingle6136 if there is any lose if vitamins/minerals compesenate with eating more fruits n vegetables in raw form. Please remember that most important here is to control diabetes more than any other thing.
