Just like building a garage / workshop, it's never big enough. A wise man once told me on this topic, "when you finish a floor plan for a utility building / workshop, double the size to get what you really need.
Thats so SO so true!!!
Hey Tommy, thanks for the behind the scenes look at the shack.👍Have a great weekend my friend!! 😎
Hope to see you tomorrow night!
For that empty wall I think a nice signed 8x10 of me would look good there, just saying. hahaha You have a nice shack for sure brother!!
Nice..... Now that be something I'd say! lol
Thanks for the behind the scenes video! Awesome backyard.
Lee thanks-
I don’t have a light or camera problem, nobody wants to watch me cook! I’m doing your recipes! Greatly appreciated Tommy!
Cheers Stan... you can send me over pictures of your cooks anytime gallerybbq@gmail.com
Good info Tommy, I deal with a lot of them issues too. I have been wanted to build a new cooking area, your ideas and others I watch are very helpful.
Enjoy my man....
Excellent video Tommy! Well thought out and constructed. Everything is neat, in place and meticulously maintained. Your yard and pool area is magnificent! Great job!
Thanks 👍
That’s a great size for folks who only have a couple of pits, but for what you have going on I can see the cons
Great video brother 👍💯
Glad you enjoyed it
Great Tour Tommy, I see you have A LOT of the same issues I have sometimes. I love seeing how others setup the Shack or "set". Thanks so much for sharing this!!
Thanks bud. I also love watching these type of vids for ideas.
Sweet setup!
Thanks!
Badass shack brother
Cheers
Got an area of my yard designated for this and appreciate the review on things to think about.
Phil when your ready. Reach out!!!
Thanks for this one. I’m in the planning phase for a smoke shack and this was definitely helpful. I’d love to know more about how you deal with flies. It’s become a major issue on our deck and patio.
I touched on that in the video. Cheers
NYCE !!! ... You definitely have it goin on brother, and I'm glad you and your channel are doing well,
I appreciate it man.
A very different video, but very interesting.
Thanks Thomas. Cheers
Love the shack
Maybe a black chalkboard on that back/side wall. You could write on it what’s cookin and some details… time/temp, etc.
Good idea. Thanks-
This video , Tommy is awesome my friend. I personally have never seen anybody show what you just did. Behind the scenes. Man that's great . Thank you Frank from montana.....
Cheers Frank and thanks for that comment.
Watching this gave me some great ideas on how to improve my own space👍😊
Bobbi. Cheers!
The shake is looking great tommy! I slapped together a tiny 7.5'x7.5' that is attached to my deck after seeing you build one. It's just big enough for my 1050 but I have it well lit for those late night smoke sessions.
Johnny, That sounds awesome. Ill be in mine around 4AM Monday starting a Pork Shoulder! Cheers
Great information, this is one of my backyard goals!
Cheers man and if there is anything I can do. LMK
@@thegalleryBBQ Thanks and I sure will 👍🏾
I like these kinds of videos where you get the "behind the scenes" content. Very nice Tommy!
Thanks-)
You should go with a pig or cow cuts of meat diagram on the blank wall/corner
Nice call.
Oh the blank wall. You could make a custom sign - Your name BBQ Shack in black. Wood or metal. Make it big.
Hello, I am hiring a contractor to build my smoke shack and using yours as a guide.. Love your set up. It will be buildt on top of a new deck. Mine will be 8 feet deep and 11 wide. Smaller than yours but thats what I have space for.. Keep up the good smoking!
Awesome. You can send pis over gallerybbq@gmail.com Id love to follow along!
Different size Cutting boards with you logo and or a magnetic knife holders with with a cleaver and other knives you may use.
Thanks Joe.
Cool Shack. Love it. Keep Grilling
Thanks bud.
You should put a big picture of Molly on that wall
That would be cool. Thanks for the suggestion!
Good info Tommy I want to build a shack similar to what u have except I want it enclosed I also want to build a smokehouse those are a couple things I’d like to get done also im about to buy a pig roaster been looking at them for awhile for family get togethers and if I decide to do any catering thanks for sharing cheers🍺👍🔥
LL..... I cant even imagine how much itll cost now with the price of wood. Hey. When you get time can you jump over here give a watch and comment. ua-cam.com/video/D3TRyhuh_4c/v-deo.html
Hi Tommy that bare wall space needs a Jack Daniels sign : )
Heck yeah! Cheers brother!
I agree With the pollen and the flie problem. was bad here also . you need a dead broke New jersey banner hanging on that wall. the side and back you can get 7 more pits in there. lol up by the pool i see room for about 5 more pits lol i love the shack. you did a great job.. i am getting one of the enclosed portable car garages..
I got one of those banners in the garage!!
@@thegalleryBBQ move it to the shack
@@ScottysBackYardBBQ Thats some heavy real estate... How about a Scotty banner!?
@@thegalleryBBQ sweet. Look into it
I have a nice similar sized "gazebo" that I keep thinking about turning into a BBQ shack. I am worried about the wood floor though, since I do use charcoal and wood to cook. I am thinking I might need some tpe of fire resistant flooring on top of the decking. Have you had any embers hit the deck?
I have buy they never get to far. Ive been grilling on my back deck for years. That said. I always keep a fire extinguisher handy!
18% grey colored paint
Very nice BBQ Shack tour. Obviously that's a perfect spot for the silver play button but until that time, may I suggest the Ladies of BBQ 2023 calendar (and the Men of BBQ 2022 in the mean time for Mrs. GalleryBackYardBBQ). 🔥😜🍻
lol......
Oh boy! I’ve been waiting for this one Tommy! It’s like a space in heaven where you can enjoy the peace and solitude. I remember watching the build. Is the roof an aluminum or steel material? I’ve been thinking of building a shack and this video answered many of my questions. That spot on the wall is for the plaque you’ll hang when you hit that 100K subscribers! Oooooh yeah! Cheers brother!
Jay. Damn I need that 100k... lol Im pretty sure steel. That said. Who knows. lol
You'll get there Tommy...no doubt about it!
Nice BBQ Shack and tour Tommy! My area is about the same size and it seems it's still too small... And I haven't enclosed it yet. I seem to keep changing how I want it... But that IS coming one of these days. Always a work in progress and yeah, lighting is tough.... And the wind here.... But a designated area is definitely great to have!!!👍🍻👊
I need to really work on my camera skills. That I do believe is your best defense against light!
Hi Tommy
Have you thought about removable panels that drop in and out to keep the weather out when you are not using the shack. Its great to see you light setup this is my next project to sort for my channel
I have brother. And screen. Thanks buddy. The lights are awesome.
Hey Tommy, Thanks for the Summer Shack tour. Are you sporting some new Ink ? 🤔 there are a few Tattoos I've never seen ? Also, Sunday's live show was great to have you on. Keep going 💪 strong. Enjoy your upcoming vacation! FastFrank-CA 😎
Thanks bud. Nope. No new ink. Thanks as always for watching!
Thanks for the great tour of your backyard shack, what were the dememtions and what did it all cost, does it have a flat roof or slant to allow water to run
Off. You have a gorgeous back yard.
I’d
Hello Sonny. App. 11x12, 7k, slanted roof and thanks. If you ever have any other questions. LMK...
Shack is pretty cool Tommy! Buildings are never big enough when your done lol. Need to look into a shack of my own someday. Cheers 🍻
You should!
The Shack is awesome! Anytime we build something we always wish we’d gone bigger. You make it work quite well though. As for the blank wall, how about a menu board? Or better yet, an autographed poster of Molly. She is pretty famous now and has her own burger 😀👍
lol..... Molly I hear all the time. Menu board I have not! Good idea. Thanks
I like your set up very much, and I hope some day to have my own Smoke Shack. I was surprised that you had the real photography lights there. While, I agree with that putting them up, and pulling them down for every photo session would eventually be a drag, there ought to be something you can cover them with for protection from the elements.
Good point. Cheers and thanks for watching!
It's still a nice looking shack. I'd put some art on that blank wall, or maybe a spice or tool rack. Cheers, Tommy! ✌️
Thanks brother,
Hey Tommy, maybe take a big, huge trash bag and cover those soft boxes , as you call them. Covering them with a cheap plastic trash bag is only a temporary way, but it'll protect them some.
29.... Thanks brother!
The thing that the color black does in the background (like at the back of the shack) is that the color black absorbs all manner of light that is bouncing around in the shack making it harder for available light to assist in the lighting in the shack. This is why you have to bring all the artificial (very bright) light into it to light it up.
If you could incorporate the use 9f something simple (like bedsheets) that you can use as a light collector and diffuser. Anything to bring more natural light in.
Tyler thats a pretty good point!
Our biggest issue, at least this time of the year is flies, flies, flies and more flies. Not much of a big deal in fall, winter and spring, but summer is terrible!
Rus, agreed....
I hate flies, flies are the devil!
Tommy, first off, your yard is beautiful! It would be an honor for anyone to cook in that space, so cool! As for that blank wall, save it. Perfect spot for your 100k subscribers plaque! (Which we all know is inevitable!) Thank you for the walk around! (I did a walk around video on my channel, too. I think it got 3 views🤣🤣)
Thanks buddy. Ill be live tonight at 6... Hope to see u there.
@@thegalleryBBQ Cooking for people, I'll have on tho!
THANKS FOR THE SHACK TOUR , MAYBE YOU COULD EXTEND THE ROOF OUT ABOUT 3 ' ALL THE WAY AROUND THE SHACK THE OVERHANG WOULD HELP WITH THE SNOW AND RAIN .THATS WHAT WE DO ON OUR HUNTING STANDS
lol
The Shack looks good Tommy, I can't keep mine that clean.
My man. Will. Ill be live Sunday night! Hope to see you there.
Love your set up maybe put a picture of molly on the wall 🐶
I know...... Cheers and thanks-
I like that idea, including Molly will increase your popularity.
Have you ever thought about possibly getting some plexiglass that you could slide in and out so the weather does not come through
Id prolly go screen over plexi. Cheers
Cool BBQ Shack, yeah bigger isn't always better, but sometimes it is. how bout screening in the sides to keep some of the unwanted stuff out.
Its been a thought!! Thanks-
@@thegalleryBBQ I was thinking the same thing... Screening and wood louvers that open & close. Also I'm sure some venting for smoke would be nice. Great video my brother!
What was the cost roughly to build the shack?
7k..... A bargain compared to what it'll cost today!
@@thegalleryBBQ that’s is way less then I thought . Maybe get some hurricane shutters for the windows that you can roll down during “ off season “ so to speak like these .. www.hurricaneshuttersflorida.com/rolldowns.php
I'll collect pallets to build mine, stayed tuned. :)
That shack is simply a thing of beauty! I always think you must drive your neighbor's crazy but in a good way with the wonderful smells, unless they're vegans and then that would just be funny wouldn't it...
lol.... You're probably right. I few time there was so much smoke coming up and out of the shack I felt for sure the fire guys were gonna get a call. So far, so good.
Has anyone said you look like Ringo?
many times.. Yes. lol
Are you a full time UA-camr?
I am so keep on watching. lol
I feel like I just watched Macho Man Randy Savage.
Haha..... Well I guess thats better then Bob Ross.... lol
@@thegalleryBBQ 🤣
On that wall where you don’t know what to put, 100k subscriber UA-cam plaque would look nice, just saying…
Jesus please!!!!!!!!!
U forgot a pro Tommy.....no women allowed in the shack lol
Except for molly😂😍🙃🙃😂
