As a Brit who has recently moved to Sweden I have to say I absolutely love the culture around Fika. It really helps you to slow down, relax, be mindful and enjoy the present moment. The Swedish lifestyle has definitely made me more relaxed 😍
As a swede you take this for granted I guess, but it's really inspiring to hear those perspectives. ♡
@@Peter_1986 Absolutely! Honestly, coffee is holy in Sweden! Haha. I thought us Brits were on it with tea but the Swedes made me realise you can go to a new level!
@@Peter_1986 It was no "classic drama series" though... it was a real shitty soap opera :D
Perfect timing! I'm about to go on my first date with a girl I've met recently and she prefered to have a fika with me. We both live in Stockholm but don't know of many good fika places. Thank God you just uploaded this video, which makes me choose a good fika place much easier! Thank you, Stefan!
alexdiezg that’s awesome! Hope the date goes well
Fika is important. Great video man. Have an awesome evening, Andreas from Off Grid Sweden 🇸🇪
Oh no! Not the centered flag, profile picture!
In Italy we really love Fika!
Johnny Bravo its something else through in Italian...
You forgot to mention the old, legendary and popular "Vetekatten" (founded 1928) which specializes in buns! It has the authentic Swedish fika-vibe. It doesn't have that super "fancy" feel, and is a little more relaxed - while having high quality breads. Try it!:))
huge respect to this culture
I love sitting down and just relaxing while enjoying a great cup of coffee and some treat. It just makes a day worthwhile. Especially those terrible winter days when everything is grey, cold and wet. Nice video :)
Tack för uppdatering! :)
I'm Italian and I cannot stop silly giggling every time you say that word
E' capitato anche a me , ma in un altro video . Figurati quando la ragazza del video disse che gli svedesi facevano " fika " anche tre volte al giorno , risi così tanto che finii col sentirmi irrispettoso verso di loro 😉
Great video! I have desperately been missing Fika time in Stockholm. Nobody in the states understands. Thanks for letting sharing the Fika treats! 😋
My favourite fika place in Stockholm is CAFE ALBERT, fantastic place to hang out with friends plus i like their idea of how they put on some good music after 21:00.
I've been in here for 5 years and I'm still getting some good ideas from your channel about how to socialize in Stockholm... Keep up the good work mate!
Thank you! 😊 I’m going to Stockholm next week to watch Melodifestivalen live and one of the things I want to do during the rest of my time there is to have my first Fika. Now I know where to go 😃
All these lovely pictures of Sweden, you make me homesick! I haven't been home during the Semla season for a long time and i can't believe all the different versions of it looks amazing. I think i have ti bake some Semla this week... it's time.. :D
Your videos are awsome have been watching them for the last 5 months, as I'm currently living in New York and have by watching them i havent got home sick yet :D
You should listen to the Swedish fika song that go royal created
Thank you for doing a great job promoting my country, and now also your country... Sweden.
Hi The Stefan! Sundbergs on Järntorget FTW! It's fun to hear you say swedish words:) A really nice vid, mate! (looove The Semla:) Mvh /The Stock Holm
Thank you so much. I think I'll move to Stockholm now. I was thinking of Skåne but you are changing my mind.
😭 this makes me miss Sweden soooo much!! ♥️🇸🇪
Also Italians love fika!!!
I just love fika!😍😍😍😍
Fantastisk video! Nu vet jag vart jag kan gå när jag besöker Sverige igen i april :D när jag bodde i Stockholm gick jag ofta till il caffé på söder. Hälsingar från Island.
Really liked this fika odyssey, more! Also, it would be fun to see you reviewing some of the green/veggie restaurants in Sthlm, like Hermans and Mahalo - for example. If your in to that, that is! Peace ♡
Nice video, Stefan.
The wife and I are going to Stockholm in about two weeks from now. We are SO much gonna use one or two... Who am I kidding? WE'RE GONNA RAID THEM ALL! ;)
I JUST LICKED MY SCREEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hahahaha mission accomplished
Me too...
Looks like great places. I want fika now!☕️🍩
You gotta go to Gunarssons outside of skanstull subway station, its very nice old school cafe
Thank u.
Ooooh... Yes Kaffekoppen was hoping you would mention it I love itv❤️
That place is literally so cozy... and the location is amazing!
And i had a picture of it as the background for a countdown app
My favourite spot is Café Dox, it´s in Gamla stan.
thanks for recommendation mr cake is awesome
Älskade Traditioner has amazing wraffles and freakshakes 😍
Idk what’s sweeter, you or those Fika treats! I’ll take both please 😂😉
I recommend going to Ulriksdals Slottscafé, great during the summer!
I have been there last summer, oh god now I want to explore more cafes in Sverige 💞
Finally i understand what's fika 😅
This is a yummy episode, that I like so much.
The owner of Tösse, Mattias Ljungberg, is also the owner of Mr Cake. He runs Mr Cake with Roy Fares, who also is a great pastry chef.
Magnus Johansson makes desserts for the royal family and especially for Crown princess Victorias wedding a few years ago. :)
The red thing you are eating at mr cake is amazing. Nothing beats a kanelbulle though.
It was extremely delicious... but difficult to eat. They serve it on a small plate and it's so big and crumbly
Nothing beats kanelbulle dough* lol
ToonsOff Fun *yes donuts and oreos* xd
You missed a cafe, the wonderful Vete Katten 😍
The orginal one is excellent, but their franchises are not.
Magnus is the goat! Hands down the best semla in town.
I'm gonna be in Ljungskile by the end of May but that's on the complete opposite side of Stockholm! :( I'm a barista at a third wave cafe and these shops and treats look amazing!
I was really into saffron buns during my visit last time.
They're mostly served around christmas time, and I agree, they are amazing!
i wish you uploaded it 2 days ago then i could also have these delicious deserts . well next time i will definitely check them out .
Something to look forward to now 😉👊🏼
Stockholm...great city. I was there last year. But here's a question, how do you get that super smooth B-roll?
Sounds so weird for me when he says
”semlas”
2:37
Because of the accent and because my cats name Is Selma (that i have had since i was 2 years old)
Keep up the good work 💙
No Vete Katten or Rosendals Trädgård? But still i like the ones you chose!
If you go to Vaxholm make sure to go to Hembygdsgårds café! Amazing fika treats ;) One of the best I had in Sweden!
I guess I should have done top 10 instead of top 5... So many good places to choose from ;)
Rosendals in the summer -- Nothing like it! :)
Never been to rosendals but vetekatten is my favorite. Or to be more precise vetekattens wildstrawberries and withe chocolate mousse topps are my favorites.
@@StefanThyron You can make a "Best Fika in Stockholm Summer Edition" later on perhaps, with all those places, like Rosendals trädgård, Ulriksdal, Hembygdsgården in Vaxholm, Blå porten, Mälarpaviljongen, Gamla orangeriet, where it's very nice to fika outside in the summer.
Yeah, I'd rank all three of those above the ones on the list, as well as Sturekatten and maybe String.
Some more tips for fika:
Kaffeverket - Super nice place in St. Eriksplan
Café Pascal - Amazing coffee and great food in Odenplan
Ghast, great interiors and perfect coffee
Konditori Ritorno - Super classic place, has great pastrys
Snickarbacken 7 - Perfekt for working/studying, alone or with friends. Would sit here allot when I was a student.
il Caffe - Also great for students and freelansers!
Hello Stefan! i just found your channel like 2 hours ago i i just subscribed! you seem like a nice guy. btw i live in sweden :D
Hej Stefan jag gillar din UA-cam kanal väldigt mycket
Tjena:)
thyron slays poon tang
come back to the couve thyron
You should go to Väderstad Centralkonditori in Östergötland.
I need to check these places out 🤦♀️
If you want to try out some other fika places, I can recommend Under Kastanjen in Gamla Stan located at Kindstugatan 1.🥐🍮🍨🍰
Restaurang Bagdad café
in the Medelhavet museum for environment. There is a view of the Royal Palace is is an amazing building and you can sit among the displays of ancient artifacts. Their bakalava and walnut tarts are better than any semla.
Estou pesquisando sobre o Fika
so after subscribing and watching many of your vids-i happened to be visiting Chicagos Andersonville Neighborhood. There are a couple Swedish Businesses -namely 2 restaurants, bakery, one bar and Swedish American Museum-and what did i spot at the Museum?Gift items centering on FIKA!Turns out that Sweden,Finnland and Canada-are the biggest Coffee drinking countries in the World-Sweden being Nr1 ! Do a vid on that! Maybe a Coffee-Roasting Factory or Fabrik. And i see that you have an opportunity @ selling your FIKA-T-Shirts-they must be big sellers! Swedish American Museum-Clark St.-Chicago,Illinois !p.s.nobody urged me to mention this-when i saw FIKA-i thought of your many Vids!
A video idea could be to try different pastries in these places (those you haven't tried yet) and perhaps recommend those you like.
That's a great idea! Like a fika mukbang
I am from Stockholm!
I'm actually gonna go to Stockholm with my class May the 20th.
But the place we're gonna stay at sucks
@Alex C True
Café Sten Sture är ett helt amazing ställe (enligt mig)! Om du inte har varit där borde du verkligen gå dit!😊
The semla season always ends on fettisdagen (Mardi gras) this year March 5th which is the last day before Lent.
From Ash Wednesday and 40 days on during Lent you may apply what restrictions in regard to what you eat and drink that you find appropriate. Some people for instance prefer not to drink alcohol during Lent and some abstain from eating meat.
You should try cafe sten Sture in gamla stan!!! An old prison chamber, very cozy tho!!!
Lisa Evelina ahh that sounds super cool!
Sitting down there and thus: Sitting in prison then? :)
I've been there couple of times as well! Also relatively cheap beers 😜 (unfortunately closes at 21:00). It's cosy, original and not expensive so definitely worth checking out, also had amazing cake there 😊
I don't live in Stockholm, but I once went to this café in a small shopping centre in Rinkeby where I could get a kanafeh (Middle Eastern pastry) and a can of Coke for 30 SEK, or less than a small coffee in downtown Stockholm. Rinkeby can be reached through the metro, but it's still a bit off the beaten path
It could be worth checking out... Prices in down town are so much higher!!
Was the cafe at the beginning of the video Färgargården?
the area I live in sweden
(my entire life up north)
we just say
-bjuru på kaffe?
(instead of "grab a fika" we just invite ourselfs over by saying that)
I’ve been to two of them during my vacay just 2 weeks ago 😁 Kaffekoppen and Espresso House! Kaffekoppen has the best hot chocolate! Just followed you on IG btw :) I also have a UA-cam Channel and I hope to meet you one day when I come back :)
Fikasugen☕️🍩Tack för tipsen ifall det blir en tur till Stockholm😁
Im from sweden jag är från Sverige and I love fika och jag älskar fika
Fika is my name 😯
Have you been to Älskade Traditioner? I can reall recommend their freakshakes and their "matvåfflor"
"So in this video i'm gonna talk about 5 of my favourite places in stockholm to get fika"
Italians: You have my complete attention!!
My old stompinggrounds from when i was younger but are very old is Café Art and Café Gråmunken both on Västerlånggatan in Old town. Art is pretty much a basement and you can’t be very tall to enter because of low roof.
Ahh that's sometimes nice to get the authentic old town feel! So many great places in gamla stan
Exakt....art o munken e fina grejer det:)
Now I’m “hangry “ (hungry +angry) Lol
Haha we work not far from each other, haven't been in to mr Cake for a while thou. Last year they had a tacosemla, do they still? :)
History lesson
Semlor is actually a Christian tradition (when like the hole of Sweden was Christian). Between Easter and Christmas, it is an old tradition (which does not many Christians do nowadays, at least not on set dates) that one fasts, for example, that one cannot eat for a period of time to focus more on God than to cook. Before that, they eat semlor on a day that we in Sweden usually call the fettisdagen (fat Tuesday) to kind of not have to eat.
If I have a lot of spelling errors I have used google translate :)
Mardi gras New Orleans. Mardi = franska för tisdag. Graisse = fett på franska. Fettisdag
And then you've got café 60, for those times when it's really late, but you really want to have a fika. I think they're open until midnight?
yes, Cafe 60! Great carrot cake, and friendly staff.
♥️♥️
5 min left to "Fettisdagen" which is the official day to eat Semlor :)
Cant remember what the name is, espresso house has a drink white vanilla hot milk and green tee. So good. Better then coffee.
You're from the Portland area, I live in Seattle. Aside from a to go cup, do you think the coffee culture in the PNW is comparable to Fika?
The PNW is known for amazing coffee. I’d say we are on par with the Swedes from a sheer coffee perspective. Nothing beats fika tho
Van you do a colab with Hampus Hedström?
Hi! "Am I right?" : Fika (Swede. Fika) - Swedish tradition to do pause in work, to drinks coffee. Break such Swedes arrange every two hours, and it lasts no more than 15 minutes?
Fika is conducted and in circle friends or family. That buoyed to Fike? Are they serving sweets, cookies or buns, or are they just serving cinnamon buns?
Testa Ulriksdals trädgårdscafé!
My semmelcount is up to 6 so far this season.
I think mine is about the same hahaha
These are my churches. These are the places where I can rejuvenate my weary nordic soul with some of the best black nectar known to man. Without fika we swedes would wither and die.
Now they start in November
What about Mellqvist and Bakery and Spice?
@fattarnoll Yes! I'll have to stop by, thanks :).
Lol. He just casually sits there in the thumbnail 😂
Are they expensive?
Happy fettisdagen
uuuu gotttt toooo beee jokkkiiinnnn', u work 5 min from were i livee?!
Magnus J are also very good, Magnus and Roy together with a french Guy are doing programmets around Christmas with those bakning You do around X-mas. Leaving good bakingadvice if You wanna learn bake

Unless you're a vegan 😃
4:54👀

And 60 is for all those late night fika
God you got Kaffekoppen on the list its my fav when I’m in Stockholm
It's definitely one of the ones I frequent most often as well :)
