like Sweden, we have several recycling bins in Japan as well. Paper, glass, PET bottles, cans etc are separate. Hopefully the world will take on the importance of recycling. Thoughtfulness may save the planet (and you don't have to be a tree hugger to do it) :)
In Australia it recently (the last couple of years) came to light that most of our recycling was actually being shipped overseas to China on return ships - as the ships would otherwise be going back empty so it's much cheaper for the "recycling" companies to do that. Then China basically said "we've got enough of our own waste, not taking anymore of yours". So it all started getting stockpiled in warehouses and tons end up in landfill. SO disheartening. Sadly heaps of Australians don't even realise how backwards and regressive a lot of things like that are here. In most European countries, there are multiple recycling bins, and if you try to put the wrong thing in the wrong recycling box, you'll get fined. The reason we only have one? Because it never mattered in the first place - it was all just being shipped off somewhere else for other people to deal with.

That part about Swedes support vegans brought me a chuckle and a memory from 2008. I'm a native Swede, and in that year, I and the small software company that I worked for went to a rural conference center outside of Simrishamn in Scania in the south of Sweden for a company conference. The staff there had probably never heard of vegetarians before. I especially recall lunch one of the days, when they served some meat sausage with "rotmos" (a mashed mix of potatoes, rutabaga and carrots) and mustard. I'm not a vegeterian, but I had two colleagues that were, and they got the same dish just without the sausage. They were not especially amused. :) So, vegan and vegetarian options exist on pretty much every restaurant in the big cities, but be prepared for that the opposite is possible in the countryside.

@@hencytjoe hate it honestly. Thinking about moving back to UK but unsure at the moment, corona making things harder and might give Sweden some more time... but so far pretty fucking shite :/
I live in northern Sweden close to the artic circle. Here the sun never sets during summer. It’s called ”midnight sun”. It’s amazing for tourists, but as a local it really messes with my sleep routine...
Wow! I can only imagine what that does to a person's mind! We visited Iceland in the summer and just a few days of no sunset had me going a bit funny :S Thank you so much for watching :D

@@salmon2518 I don't know where you get that from? Of course you'd get it backif it's found, and there are no fines at all. In the city centers people have the dogs inside obviously since they live in apartments, but go outside of the centers where people live in villas and houses they're often free running in the yard...
Wow, in the north of Sweden many places uses cash. Also, in the North of Sweden the sun is up exactly all the time, we've spent the entire night fishing because it's never dark.
Damn inspiring stuff! Sorry for commenting on a three year old clip, but you went to the wrong side of Sweden. Well, maybe not wrong, but the westcoast (Stockholm is located on the eastcoast) would be my prime travel tip. The water here is salty, not brackish and the seafood is cheaper and taste better. Our archipelago looks a bit different with the famous pink Bohus granite, the perfect backdrop for spectacular sunsets. I do believe you should really, really Google a bit about the Gothenburg/Bohuslän region with the city of Gothenburg, Lysekil, Smögen, Marstrand and so on being summer hotspots. It´s also very close to the Capital of Norway, Oslo, so that to can easily be included if you visit for a few days.
That sounds amazing - we'd love to go back to see more! We barely even scratched the surface of Sweden and I'd love to go to Norway too. My great grandfather was Norwegian and I'd love to visit my ancestral homeland!
I think in any situation you can find ways to make a destination budget friendly. You can stay at hostels, cut back on dining out and walk around instead of paying for transport. What we experienced in our itinerary wasn’t budget stuff - it was all really nice so our experience was a fancy one. I guess I’d say it’s comparable to going to places like New York, Paris and Tokyo as opposed to places like Thailand, Cambodia and Indonesia.
@@travelforphoebe I am actually from the Philippines, but I have friends that visited Sweden, they said that Stockholm, Uppsala are wonderful places to visit! Denmark and Iceland are also great as well.
Thank you so much for the excellent video. I have been watching videos about Sweden for a while now. I have never been there, but I have been to Northern Europe. Some of the Swedish people say that it is rude to talk to strangers and that is something that is not appreciated in Stockholm or anywhere else in Sweden. This is more of a custom than an attitude according to what these Swedish videos say. Did you come across any of this during your trip. Perhaps the Swedish are different in the summertime.
Oh, so people are hot in Sweden !! Okay, you're speaking my language now. I will in fact get a neck-brace and do stretching exercises every morning and paint Sweden red !!

Boy, if I knew how to blush I would be scarlet by now! You came at the right time, though. Around the summer solstice it is wonderful. November, not quite as much... I had a colleague from Romania that when he came wondered what the thing was with Swedes, why are they so obsessed with the sun? 9-10 months later: -"OK, now I have lived through the winter here. Now I get it!" :-)
@@travelforphoebe Last December Växjö (don't even try to pronounce it, it is a city inland in the south of Sweden) had 30 min of sunshine, total for the month! It is one thing that the sun is up only 6-7 hours, it is still a lot more than in the north, but when it is we very often have a heavy overcast sky. In the north at least they have the snow to brighten things up a little.
That is also one of the typical tourist stops. Stockholm, but forget the North of the country. Next time do a full country trip. Good and funny vid though. Here you won't have a sunset in summer.
Räkmacka has boiled eggs, majonäs, räkor (shrimps), dill, lemon, and lettuce on soft bread with butter (wheat or rye). Toast skagen has skagenröra on toast, basically. So a few things in common (if you check skagenröra). There are other similar smörgåsar (open sandwiches) as well, of course, although not as ubiquitous.
hahaha even then it didn't really set... it was like it dipped down to the horizon and then back up again. It was incredible! So glad I got to see it in my life :) I think the days in winter are really short... I don't know if I could live like that! I need sunshine!!
Our days in Sweden wintertime 1st January sunrise 8:44am and sets 2:57pm. 😅 So yeah, the people of Sweden wakes up and comes alive in the summer, It’s like a different country.
Love your video! But it can be a bit diffrent depending where in sweden you go and when, i hope you will come back to Sweden but then go to Gothenburg ond the surrounding area, its the second biggest city but its alot nicer and alot nicer people. Hey Ryan. We’re on the road at the moment (and I can’t sleep) so your question might get missed by Phoebe but I know she’d love to share what she does with you. So I’ll do my best for her because she LOVES her Figs. She keeps them in a spot that receives good broken sunlight daily, she uses fertilizer she gets from her earthworm farm and I’ve even seen her gently cleaning the leaves with a water spray bottle. She also makes sure they are in a position where a wall supports their weight so they can grow up without bending over. Not only Swedes are hot ! The Stockholm archipelago 7has 30.000 islands and 270.000 in all of Sweden (most in the world) as well as 97.000 lakes and 50.000 waterways . Therefore, nature means a lot to us . Anders Sweden Göteborg

So I’m going to Sweden with my school choir next June and my mom was wondering how she should give me money for the trip since it’s about a week long. Now you mentioned how cash was barely accepted. I’m under 18 meaning I can’t have a credit card, what would you suggest for how I should handle this problem. Would a visa gift card still work overseas?
Hey Rachael! We actually just took a trip to the USA and used a Travelex money card for the first time - You and your lovely mum should look into them and see if they’re a good fit for you on your trip! It would mean you can use it like a credit card but still withdraw cash, Mum can top it up with local currency as needed, you can use an app to check your balance too! Phoebe x
Herr Friberger it’s definetely not accepted everywhere. I rarely use cash so i don’t know exactly when and when not it’s accepted but last time i was at a train station i tried to buy some snacks for my journey and they didn’t accept cash. But in grocery stores and in restaurants she should be fine.
Loving your videos but just wanted to say, I would avoid saying "travel dogger" anywhere near any Brits, it doesn't mean anything to do with dogs over here!!
hahahaha amazing advice! Thank you! I once went to a dry cleaner in London to find out the price of having something of Matt's dry cleaned and asked, "How much is to have pants dry cleaned?" ... it was very awkward and I really didn't understand why until a good friend, dying laughing, explained it to me hehehe

All the best and thanks for watching!
Three months later - how are you settling in? :)
@@hencytjoe hate it honestly. Thinking about moving back to UK but unsure at the moment, corona making things harder and might give Sweden some more time... but so far pretty fucking shite :/

@@searchingshane why ur sweden experience was shite ?
I live in northern Sweden close to the artic circle. Here the sun never sets during summer. It’s called ”midnight sun”. It’s amazing for tourists, but as a local it really messes with my sleep routine...
Wow! I can only imagine what that does to a person's mind! We visited Iceland in the summer and just a few days of no sunset had me going a bit funny :S Thank you so much for watching :D
Wow! I'm a Swede and now I want to emigrate to my own country :)
hahahahaha I love that!
Hej da/ Hello, Awesome presentation in brief. Hope to visit soon this amazing friendly natural habitat with amazing natural beauty....to inspire.....

It’s so true! 😂🙌🏻
Can confirm, dogs are everywhere in Sweden. In my first few hours after arriving I saw close to 50 dogs.
Hahahahaha 😂🙌🏻😍 this is a great comment! Thank you. Phoebe x
How do they keep them in their respective yard? I have not seen any homes with fences.
@@itukuppoo4280 they have them inside homes I dont think it's even allowed to leave animals outside at all if your dog ran away you aren't getting I back and getting a hugeee fine

Best weather in sweden is between 10 July and 15 August, its hot, like a realy big diffrence from midsummer heat!
Great tip!! Thanks for sharing 😍
@@travelforphoebe dont forget to visit Bohuslän! My home place, its awesome on end of july:)
You guys may not know it but fika is very common in italy too
Really?!
Hello from Sweden. This was fun to watch :-)
Thank you so much!!!
Is Sweden(Stockholm) really that expensive? I mean hotels, restaurants, transport etc
I love Sweden and Scandinavia in general
I really loved Sweden! Would love to see more of Scandinavia ASAP 😌 what are a few places you’d recommend?
@@travelforphoebe I am actually from the Philippines, but I have friends that visited Sweden, they said that Stockholm, Uppsala are wonderful places to visit! Denmark and Iceland are also great as well.
Thanks for the info going tomorrow
Oh wow! Have an amazing time! Thanks for watching :)
All the locals we met were so lovely and welcoming and friendly. Everyone we spoke to was happy to chat 😊🙏🏼
when i watch the swedes videos i get scared but when i watch yours it s positiv3e

9-10 months later:
-"OK, now I have lived through the winter here. Now I get it!" :-)
hahahaha there are few things happier than a Swede in the sunshine!! P x
Is september a good time to be in sweden to travel? I like the city to be busy itself
Oh gosh, I’ve only visited the once so I’m not sure! 🙏🏼
Fy fan morkra vintrar o ingen sno.Amazing, fint som fan i Sjotuna centralt.
Thanks for watching!
That is also one of the typical tourist stops. Stockholm, but forget the North of the country. Next time do a full country trip. Good and funny vid though. Here you won't have a sunset in summer.
Thanks for watching isdraken!
8:49 It is Räkmacka :)
Is it? Is that the same as Toast Skagen?
Räkmacka has boiled eggs, majonäs, räkor (shrimps), dill, lemon, and lettuce on soft bread with butter (wheat or rye). Toast skagen has skagenröra on toast, basically. So a few things in common (if you check skagenröra). There are other similar smörgåsar (open sandwiches) as well, of course, although not as ubiquitous.
Smörgåstårta > toast skagenm imho, both might use skagenröra btw.
Thanks for watching!
Okay did sun really set at 11pm?
I am amazed!
So what the time of sunset in winter?
hahaha even then it didn't really set... it was like it dipped down to the horizon and then back up again. It was incredible! So glad I got to see it in my life :) I think the days in winter are really short... I don't know if I could live like that! I need sunshine!!
@@travelforphoebe omg. Then Sweden worth visiting

How do you get your fiddle leaf figs to grow?
I hope that helps... comment again and I’ll show her to see if I missed anything :) Matt
Thank You so mutch! Oncel Thomas, Sweden❤️

Where you in other places in Sweden except Stockholm
Yes we went to the archipelago as well!
Not only Swedes are hot !
The Stockholm archipelago 7has 30.000 islands and 270.000 in all of Sweden (most in the world) as well as 97.000 lakes and 50.000 waterways .
Therefore, nature means a lot to us .

A bit Ironic... Denmark is known for their "smørrebrød" (open sandwiches) and Swedens only national sandwich is named after a danish city/area, "Toast Skagen". ;-)

I'm going to sweden this summer and i have a question. They are rude if you don t have an accent? Like english is not.my first language and I'm insecure so yeah... and i have very bad anxiety.
What we saw and experienced was the Swedes are a loving, open, accepting people who celebrate and welcome diversity. Those we spoke to believed strongly in equality 😊 I would say you have no need to be insecure! You should be proud to speak multiple languages 🙌🏻 it’s not easy to learn English and it’s so amazing you have! Believe in how awesome you are and don’t ever let fear diminish your light 😍
Please Make a meet when will you come again. I Shall bear all expenses of your tour.. Seriously :)

@@travelforphoebe yeah I'm eagerly waiting for that since you told me about it last week. I hope I can make it.
Phoebe x
Little Grey Box thank you so much!! I’ll bring it up to her and see what she thinks!! 🙏🏻❤️
Cash is accepted, and will be in the future. Cash-less is not as trendy anymore.
Herr Friberger thank you🙏🏻 very grateful for your help!
It's a f-ng coffee break.
