You should clarify for some viewers, you say hand tighten the drain plug, some viewers may think thats tight enough, i heard your ratchet tighten a little more but i really couldn't see it & it wasn't mentioned.... Besides that, it was an awesome video.
You’re right, some people aren’t mechanics so when I say “hand tighten” it usually means hand tighten with the ratchet. But I can see why it could be confusing.
I have a big hydraulic jack & remove the front right wheel. easy to reach the filter & drain plug & don't have to get under the car at all.. takes like 20 minutes. nice vid thumbs up
Nice video, thank you! Two questions: 1) How on earth is your engine so clean? :) 2) Any chance on getting a video of replacing the air intake hose? Common problem with this model Honda because of how much force is exerted on the pipe to replace the engine air filter. For the life of it, can't fine a video. Cheers!
Mohammed Chaudhry We did a video on how to clean the engine bay, that's how it was so clean. As for the air intake hose, we can do that, we just need to find time since we're both working full time :(
Nice video thank you. Just bought a 2006 accord and just did my first ever oil change.. at 40 years old. hah. ANYWAY.. that filter is very hard to get to. Even with a good 3 ton jack from the front, on stands, coming from the front, I wasn't able to get at the filter. I came in from the passenger tire but really couldn't see the mating surface of the engine. Next time I'll remove the tire, or try using a couple pieces of wood under the jack to gain some extra height.
Never use old oil to lube the o-ring on the new filter. The old oil is full of acids. Always use new oil. Also, when pouring in the new oil always have the spout at the top to prevent the oil from glugging.
Maybe, but the only time I ever had a leak from the new filter was when I used the old oil on the gasket. Maybe it was just a coincidence but why take the chance. I'm not sure if she's related but it would be nice.
hey man you always answer my questions and i appreciate you for doing that. So my 07 accord has a slight pop noise coming from the front left wheel im pretty sure it is something in the assembly behind the wheel. I am not sure what it might be do you have an idea of what it can be?
never heard of that issue before... when does it pop? have you inspected that area? whats the history of the vehicle? any maintenance done around that area?
I like using those 5 quart containers. First of all it's cheaper than buying single quarts. But you also then have a container to dump the old oil in and take to a oil recycling location.
My 2003 2.4 Accord burns a quart about every 800 miles and I drive about 300 miles a day so I'm "changing" the oil about every 2 weeks so I just change the filter every couple months. Lots of 2.4 Accords burn oil, not to mention a lot of auto trans failures.......the quality of Hondas were better before 2000.
You're lucky. I have been burning 1qt every 150 miles for several years on a 2003 2.4 with 180k miles - Honda knows this was an issue but does nothing - never will buy again
NutzAboutBolts Actually I changed my engine oil today with full synthetic Mobil 1 High Mileage 5W-20 Motor Oil. But I thought that I had to change my engine oil every 3000 miles.
I have a 2003 Honda Accord with 200,000 miles, and two days ago I changed my engine oil and I put 5W-20 Mobil 1™ High Mileage protection for engine with over 75,000 miles, full synthetic motor oil. You think I have made a good decision?
David Labossiere never noticed the nut, I think the wrench won't work in this situation, I tried it with the other open filter wrench and it didn't work too well for me. As long as the filter comes out, whatever method works for you is fine by us :)
What do you do to lube the filter? Just the engine oil? And when you say o ring are you referring to the small hole? And only hand tight the oil filter? No need to use the wrench?
David Humphrey you lube the rubber o-ring on the oil filter. no need to use the wrench when tightening it, just hand tighten it and the engine vacuum will cause a suction and tighten the oil filter.
NutzAboutBolts Do you use the motor oil to lube the o-ring? I keep hearing prime the filter, is that putting oil into the filter and also where did you get the new washer for the drain bolt? And thanks so much for the info! Plan to do this when it stops raining.
how do you get the plastic wing off the bottom of the car? It's covering the oil filter. I tried a fork, screwdriver, everything. They're tough to pull out
First off you need to start the car then check out the oil level. Then you always want to fill it to the max mark to give the customer the best bang for their buck.
I have an 06 Accord I’m worried about my oil. I had changed my oil on 8/20/17 with 53585 I now have 55996 I’m suppose to change my oil when I reach 58585 I bought the Honda synthetic oil but the service indicator is flashing and there’s negative number flashing with it. Just want to know if everything is okay or should I change my oil
dumb question but .. is 3/8 drive the same as 17 mm .. I see up to 16 mm but no 17 .. I see 3/8 drive .. looking up sockets online .. I see 3/8 drive 17 mm in the same description for a socket .. is it the same socket size ?
+NutzAboutBolts thanks for the reply .. since this comment, I've changed it twice .. I just changed the oil now and I noticed a leak from the filter .. I hand tightened it so I guess I didn't hand tight it enough ? this time I tightened it a little more using the honda specific adapter .. is that ok ?
+d jones make sure the old gasket isn't on there when you are putting on the oil filter, the old oil filter gasket can sometime get stuck on there and you double the gasket up and can cause a small gap which in turn can cause a leak. Hand tightening it should be sufficient enough for it to be tight. I've hand tighten all my filters and it never leaked. Check the oil filter as well to make sure its not defected as well.
If you use full synthetic 5w-20 and synthetic filter (FRAME), WHAT WILL BE NEXT OIL AND FILTER CHANGE TIME OR KM. ON CAR? Do we have to change (synthetic) filter also? when?
best tutorial so far on honda
+Sushi Wasabi thanks!

OK
Keep up the informative videos, they DO help...
@@freeman573 thanks, the Honda accord is unfortunately gone. So there won’t be any future videos of it

Thank you! I would never have figured out how to reset the oil life gauge on my own...
No problem 👍🏼

Just an FYI, watch out for catalytic converter thief out there. Mine got jacked a couple of weeks ago, so it’s gone. Enjoy! 👍🏼
@@NutzAboutBolts Yikes! Sorry to hear that! I would not be able to diy that, oy.
great vid man thanks for this I didn't even know the car could let you know about oil life percentage
Thank a lot man my wife just got a 2006 Accord ex this video really helped!
Syd Black np!
Just changed my euro cl9's engiine oil & filter. Nick work.
Great video, thank you!
Hmm seems easy enough, imma ask my girlfriend to change it for me.
Sounds like your girlfriend has a girlfriend 🤷🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️🤣🤣💀
Nice and simple, thanks!
Never use old oil to lube the o-ring on the new filter. The old oil is full of acids. Always use new oil. Also, when pouring in the new oil always have the spout at the top to prevent the oil from glugging.
The acids won't hurt the rubber for a few thousand miles.
Any relation to Patti?? Love her voice!

Why is there not a better way for oil to drain

that's interesting, mines 06 and haven't had any of those issues... maybe it's for earlier models that has those problems.

When is time to change the engien oil on a 2003 Honda Accord it show you the maintained light? And the life percent of the oil?
Gabriel GonzalezI change it every 7500 with synthetic oil.
NutzAboutBolts Actually I changed my engine oil today with full synthetic Mobil 1 High Mileage 5W-20 Motor Oil. But I thought that I had to change my engine oil every 3000 miles.
Gabriel Gonzalez thats too early and wasting money. Do it every 7500, its fine, sometimes I go to 8k miles.
NutzAboutBolts okay, thank you. I always watch your videos, find it very helpful.
Gabriel Gonzalez
np! thanks for watching! :)
what kinda ramp is that?Im trying to find a good ramp or a good full body jack for my 03 Honda
Zack Kirkendoll its called "Rhino ramps", you can buy them at Auto Zone or any automotive stores.
Thanks

NutzAboutBolts TY
my 05 accord has 171,190 miles do u use 5w20???
I still use 5w-20 and it has 120k miles. You can try the high mileage if your vehicle is experiencing oil loss.
+NutzAboutBolts thanks bro
You said something about the washer but I didn’t see you screwing the bolt after you put the washer? Was that a new screw bolt or a new washer?
You just need to replace the washer. Amazon sells Honda oil filters that come with washers.
Thank you!
why are you using a filter wrench on a K&N filter that has the nut on the bottom
David Labossiere never noticed the nut, I think the wrench won't work in this situation, I tried it with the other open filter wrench and it didn't work too well for me. As long as the filter comes out, whatever method works for you is fine by us :)

Jose Duran you just need to reset your oil light whenever your change your oil. Super easy to do.
my honda 2003 accord and its 6speed manual...doesnt have any oil rating on dush board..what should i do?
it should have a oil light indicator for you to reset using the odometer.
I like using Honda Oil from Honda, its the best and you get more miles on it. My engine runs better than having Mobile 1 and hey its cheaper.
You do know that HONDA does NOT make their own oil right?
Another oil company makes it and HONDA slaps their label on it, it very well could be MOBIL.

d jones 17mm to standard is 11/16". Just buy a Metric socket 17mm at an auto store and use a 3/8 ratchet.

For Honda Accord 2003 ... the same? I mean sintetic oil 5w-30 or 20? (232k miles) Nice vid bro 👍🏻
5w-20, Is your engine burning oil?
NutzAboutBolts no bro, and the engine works normaly but a light flashes “maint req’ d” tnx for answer
Need our support dude
Just reset the maintenance light. 5w-20 is fine. The light turns on every 5k miles, I usually change my oil every 7k
is it same on a accord euro?
Fred Sammy I'm not too sure since ours made in Japan. It should be the same besides the right hand driving part...
so, where do you dispose the old oil afterwards?
+Azat H you can dispose of the oil through your city garbage disposal service or at the automotive stores.
Thanks. But, thats not kind to the pipes and not the most eco friendly idea
I would feed it to the lawn.
You mean KILL THE LAWN???
The police station 🤡
Whats the size of the washer?
amzn.to/2aZ0Mel there's the link to the washer.
+NutzAboutBolts Thanks man 👍
Taking out the oil cap is a "Myth"
don't know if its a myth or not, but when I didn't take the oil cap off, the oil drain very slow... If you feel its a myth, all power to you.
First of all, it's not a myth. And second of all, you don't need to put myth in quotes.
how much litres we need ?
Tri Nguyen its 4.4 qts with oil filter.
thks
I have a 04 v6 with 144k should I use a heavier weight oil.
+Milly Mil I wouldn't unless its burning a lot of oil. I'm still using 5w-20 synthetic oil at 109k miles.
Thanks a lot appreciate the advice.
+Milly Mil no problem.
