Smash 64 players: * tumbleweed * Melee players: Egotistical maniacs who confuse being able to quickly execute exploits with stupid names for skill. They often congregate in tournaments meant for actual fighting games. Worshipers of an unfinished 2001 game, they can not accept change, and feel the need to demean players of the other games in the series. They only play as Marth, Fox, Falco, or Shiek. Never anyone else. Brawl players: A race that enjoyed a game with a pace slower than most snails. Complete casuals taken seriously by no one. Melee players hate Brawl, and thus created an illegal mod known as "Project M" to further exemplify their inability to accept change. Brawl and Melee players moved to Project M, and all peacefully played "Smash" with anime characters, Ridley, and terrible voice acting for several years. Since then, have all died out with it. Sm4sh players: Newbies who abuse their awful internet connection. Most are of the "roller" subculture. These folk spam the roll functionality ad infinitum, using it as a method of transportation. Despite having no skills or experience, they think they're good enough for For Glory, even though they're not. Ask one to define "perfect pivot", and they'll be lost. More likely than not, they spam projectiles. Chances are they're somewhere between 7-12 years old and double as squeakers on XBox Live. They use their parents' money to buy DLC they'll never use.
My Smash Bros biography: I was born in 1998 (Smash 64 came out in like 95 or 96 I think). I got a hand-me-down Nintendo 64 from my then teenage aunt who gave it when I was in like 5. I soon got Smash 64 when I was like 8 and used to play countless hours with my little brother (I mained fox on the 64). Once the Wii had been out for some time and used Game Cubes were $30, we bought a Game Cube and got Melee for like $30 as well (surprising because ever since sm4sh came out, melee is like $100). We played that with our friends and stuff for a few years then finally got a Wii and brawl after it had been out for a while and was a lot cheaper. Brawl is the game I have the most memories with. Probably just because of how old I was and how long I've been playing brawl because a forth smash that was old and cheap didn't exist. The memories from Brawl are the freshest in my mind. Fox has been my main ever since 64. In terms of CPU level, my skill level is probably around level 8.5 (Level 9's beat me 80% but I can usually beat level 8). For me, Smash Bros isn't just about the competition. It's about the friendships I've held and countless hours I've played with friends. I remember I had this one friend I hadn't seen in a few years, and when we sat down and played Brawl again, it was as if no time had passed at all. I hope to get better and eventually be good enough to beat hardcore Melee players, but I just don't think I can ever be that competitive. I'm 18 now. The Smash Brothers series is something I will always cherish deeply in my heart. (For those who actually read this far I hope you liked my story and can relate in some way. Sorry for getting all "touchy feely" in a youtube comment section lmao)

Weird, could've sworn the tech was called "broken mechanics that weren't intentionally programmed into the game and only red in the face Melee diehards care about". Well, one of us has to be right at least.
Thebes342 lmao bruh you wild, samurai said he knew wavedashing was possible, and Lcanceling was a mechanic that was also in 64, so was jump canceling, and most of the other high teir tech. Only stuff like wobbling n shot was accidental
There are kids at my school who only play brawl and think the others are garbage. Someone tried to get em to play project m but they said it broke the game and made it unbalanced...
at the moment i'm searching google for the article/interview I read, but I very clearly remember reading that sakurai and his team knew about the sliding that happens when you dodge at the ground, but he left it in there only because he didn't think it would be a big deal(meaning, he didn't think it would later become wavedashing). The wavedashing technique itself was not intentional.
Kaby I originally started with brawl and later expanded to Melee and Sm4sh. I love them all (with Sm4sh being my favorite imo) and get annoyed when people fight over which one is better. The Smash Bros. games are like siblings: Melee's the older brother and is always arguing with Sm4sh (the younger brother) while Brawl's stuck in the crossfire.
I started with Melee, had it for a couple years, then got Brawl, and it's still one of my all time favorite games. Then again, I'm not a tryhard _or_ a casual, I played it for fun. Which actually set me up as a casual to melee players and tryhard to sm4sh players, lol. Melee still feels too fast to be "for fun" - it's a competitive game. Sm4sh was.. accurately depicted in this video, kind of a letdown. But I do appreciate the roster. But see, when Brawl got boring, I got into hacking... And basically doubled my playtime. Vanilla Brawl is still good IMO, but it doesn't compare to vanilla anything else. The massive variety of hacks people made are why I think it's a good game compared to them. I should probably note that I've been actively watching Melee tournaments ever since I found out about competitive existing, and prefer watching Melee to watching any other smash game easily. Melee has the hypest community I've ever seen, it's a good time.
l remember when l first tried Melee Anther's, me and the other guy got desynced right when the matches started and it took a good five minutes for the other guy to realize l didn't have the Gecko Codes enabled. Good times.
@@Wrench-007 Yeah, personally I don't like melee 'cause its too Broken, you have 16 useless characters.... Pokemon stadium has too many glitches, but meh... Stills better than Sm4sh
How smash 4 players actually see melee: "WAIT WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS WHY CAN'T I MOVE? WHY DOES THIS GAME HAVE NO INPUT BUFFERING IT'S WORSE THAN BRAWL"
I started with 4 and tried to play Melee, but honestly the input buffering didn't hurt that much. Or, it could've, if I got past the fact that I have to snap the control stick in half every time I have to do any input other than a short walk. Smash attacks, dashing, and sometimes even tilts felt like I had to wrestle with the controls every time I wanted to execute any of them. Seeing how many new people were brought in by 4 that are now trying to play Melee, it baffles me why I don't see this complained about as often. Doesn't mean I like or support players like the one in the video, though; they really piss me off and I actually go out of my way to play characters that are fun and focus on skill. Infinite combos like Mario's up-tilt, Ryu's side-tilt, and the giant can of worms that are the last 3 DLC characters just scream "unpolished" to me, and I'm confused why they haven't been patched out yet. Seriously, these are giant, glaring problems that are impossible not to notice, and yet they're still in the game? Why?
I thought this would be disgustingly exaggerated but it actually seems pretty spot on with a bit of humor dropped in. "L-canceling? You can cancel loses?" That line had me laughing.
Jonah Zgo Only partially. Even though DI was added in and vectoring was slightly nerfed, vectoring is still present in the game. Vectoring still allows you to survive horizontal knockback longer than DI can, however, DI allows you to survive vertical knockback longer than vectoring can.
Subspace Emissary was amazing to me. Even if it was a little dark for Smash Bros, and didn't really suit the cartoonish characters. It was a good attempt at a story mode, and it had a lot of badass moments. Plus, the soundtrack is phenomenal. Boss Battle mode, classic mode, and stage builder mode, too.
My cousin thought he broke the one copy of melee a while back, so he got anther copy, and it turned out that the original was completely fine. Then he gave both to me. In a decade I will sell them and become a millionare.
I never knew the community was so divided when it comes to smash bros...like I see people saying brawl is for casuals and no one plays it (?), 64 sucks, melee sucks, 4 sucks, I suck you suck we all suck LIKE THEY'RE ALL GOOD GAMES WHAT THE HELL I DON'T GET IT CAN SOMEONE PLEASE EXPLAIN WHAT THIS MADNESS IS?!?!
I know its madness, but its actually pretty amusing to watch, then came out with your own conclusions. there´s good players out there, but also wannabes and elitists, then theres´s a silent mayority that just want to have fun or want to unlock all the secrets of the games, but also there´s people thay play because its a trend, or are self declared casuals just to oppose/antagonize the other side.
I personally fall into that "fun" category. Also why do people hate brawl? I loved it. I guess you could say it's slower paced than the other (I think) but that isn't necessarily a bad thing, is that why people hate it? And the subspace emissary was AWESOME
"I've been playing this game for hours and I just can't get the hang of it ... Which is weird because I got good with cloud in like 5 minutes". HILARIOUS
What are you talking about? His delivery is what makes the jokes funny. It's deadpan humor, like at the end when he talks about going back to Smash 4 mario combos (and it's just up tilt>up tilt> up tilt LOLOL). Not everything needs a laugh track or a cue card to tell you what to do. If you don't know when to laugh, you don't get the joke.
Krish Suchak You didn't understand the "delivery" part of my comment. Obviously I understand why it could be funny. They just aren't told (or delivered) very well.
I like all the games, I have played them all. I like sm4sh the most, but just barely over all the others. Here is my sum-up of all the games: *64*: Good game, I liked it, but it just doesn't have much content, and I understand that. It was the first one, so it had to start somewhere. *Melee*: Also good, I like it's fast-paced gameplay, it makes me feel in control. I don't like the fact that you need to mesmerize a million different exploits and glitches just to be even existent in the competitive scene. *Brawl*: Definitely the most casual. There were fun parts of it, and then there were bad parts of it (**cough cough META KNIGHT cough cough TRIPPING cough cough**). Also, the Subspace Emissary was the best thing in all of Smash Bros. My first Smash game. *Sm4sh*: Most balanced game, however there is, like, no competitive technique. You can spam moves and win in For Glory, which is bad. I don't do this, and there are ways to get around others that do this, but it is still a problem. Most actively patched game in the series (In fact the only actively patched game in the series at the moment), and I like that. Huge roster, although there were some that came out of the blue (e.g.; Wii Fit Trainer). And now, The fan bases. *64*: 95% comprised of rabid coyotes that won't like the other games and will say they are bad because they aren't this game. *Melee*: 95% comprised of rabid coyotes that won't like the other games and will say they are bad because they aren't this game. *Brawl*: 95% comprised of rabid coyotes that won't like the other games and will say they are bad because they aren't this game. *Sm4sh*: 95% comprised of rabid coyotes that won't like the other games and will say they are bad because they aren't this game. (If you aren't classified as one of those, which you probably are, then you are the 5%) If I judged you poorly, I am sorry, this is just a joke. I like all of these games. They are all fun to pick up, as I am part of the 5% (Or maybe I *AM* the 5%, I'm not sure). Can't wait to see the flame war this comment ignites.
CookieStorm brawl is just such a slow paced game. I like how melee has the exploits that you can learn to be a better player because it sets a bigger gap between experienced/skilled players and the newcomers. but that's just my opinion
My problem with sm4sh was the way they treated Jigglypuff. I always liked that character, but Rest is now so precise to land with very little pay off. Otherwise, it's decent.
Rule #6716 of Melee: When playing CPUs, never choose Poké floats. This is true because the AI can’t comprehend the fact that the floats move offstage and end up SDing all four stocks by standing on Squirtle or Onyx and just not moving.
"which is weird because I mastered Cloud in like 5 minutes" LMAO XD But really I think Sm4sh players would capitilize on the few unpolished things in the game like BF ledges and stuff like that
"L-canceling? You can cancel losses in this game?" I haven't laughed that hard in a long time. On another note, I'd like Smash 4 way better if it had Melee ledge mechanics.
As a SSB4 player who doesn't play Melee at all, I watch both just as much. It's old and broken, but the gameplay is mind-bendingly fast, complex and technical.
Lol I only play smash games at friend's houses, and even though I don't know much about smash games, I could tell by the exaggeration in your voice when you were joking lol. Still made me laugh regardless, like with jiggly puff and mario at 1:15.
I'm slightly disappointed by the lack of two stock, no items, Fox only, Final Destination memes. Also, not getting to see you fight some of the psychopaths that live and breathe this game.
CajBaj the White Don't get me wrong, Ness players are fun to play against. it's the ones who make their play style so predictable... This one guy kept spamming PK FIRE, it was so annoying...
As a Smash fan whose only played Melee once, there was still some things I personally thought it did better than Sm4sh and vice versa. Points to Melee: 1. Faster based gameplay 2. Ledge cancelling 3. Higher hitstun 4. Didn't include Cloud, Bayo, or Rosalina 5. Falco was good and Fox's voice didn't suck Points to Smash 4: 1. Footstool combos 2. Better ledge mechanics 3. More than half the cast is at least viable 4. None of that retarded hurtbox, grab range, and incompetent shield bullshit (ie. DK's tie Yoshi's grab and G&W's shield ) 5. You can actually grab Battlefield's ledge and there are way more stages
I like Melee the least of the bunch. Mainly because the community ruined it for me lol The game by itself is fine. Except for it being so horribly balanced. And kind of broken as fuck. But it has the best single player modes. I dunno what the garbage with Smash 4 is lol But Smash 4 has the better stage options. (Except Fountain of dreams. Way to not add that as a dlc stage Hal lol) Yet Melee probably has the better movement. Either way The original is still probably my favorite.
0:10 Wait. You never knew about the super smash bros franchise until smash 4 came out? That's so sad. P.S. I don't know if he was joking about saying that or not
The "How Melee Players see smash 4" best-fox was definitely way more hilarious, but the part with the icies wobbles "Wow... Okay that shit... is a fucking sick combo!" made me laugh so hard. Nice work.

Except for the fact that it is intentional, and gives intangibility when using it, which is quite cheap.

It's a very linear escape and movement option with its short-term purposes
But in melee rolls aren't as good as smash 4; fairly so, because wavedashes make up for it
at the moment i'm searching google for the article/interview I read, but I very clearly remember reading that sakurai and his team knew about the sliding that happens when you dodge at the ground, but he left it in there only because he didn't think it would be a big deal(meaning, he didn't think it would later become wavedashing). The wavedashing technique itself was not intentional.
LOL the doorbell at the beginning made my dogs go crazy
Now make, "How Brawl players see melee," unless if you've done that.
The reason I am asking this is because the first SSB game I ever played is Brawl.
That cringy kid Same
What's a brawl
That cringy kid there are no brawl players
Is Brawl that Project M's mod I've heard so much about?
TheVeryBakedPotato Looks like I don't exist :^)
"Hitstun? Nope never heard of it." lmao that fucking killed me
And then there is those of us who started with good ol brawl
you have to be careful though. i hear that some melee or smash4 players calls us casuals
Also, Smash 64 is in college.

2:19 You might wanna re-think that, because Melee is more technical than any other Smash game. Even Sakurai said it.
Wait, I remember something about sakurai Hates melee...
@@merlinhandel1476 I know he does. He said he does because IT IS TOO TECHNICAL.
@@Wrench-007 Yeah, personally I don't like melee 'cause its too Broken, you have 16 useless characters.... Pokemon stadium has too many glitches, but meh... Stills better than Sm4sh
@omar عمر By your reply, I believe you don't know what "glitchy" means.
Have you ever heard of a joke before?
How smash 4 players actually see melee: "WAIT WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS WHY CAN'T I MOVE? WHY DOES THIS GAME HAVE NO INPUT BUFFERING IT'S WORSE THAN BRAWL"
Savajho input buffer sucks dude
I agree no buffering is so hard to get used to coming to melee from smash 4
I mean you adapt in like 5 seconds
What really sucks is when you go back and forth from Melee and Smash 4. That's when the buffering really shakes things up.

RIP Fan: Super Smash Bros.-Super Smash Bros. Brawl
You forgot the part where he uses vectoring instead of DI.
LucumaYogurt vectoring was patched out a long time ago
Jonah Zgo Only partially. Even though DI was added in and vectoring was slightly nerfed, vectoring is still present in the game. Vectoring still allows you to survive horizontal knockback longer than DI can, however, DI allows you to survive vertical knockback longer than vectoring can.
LucumaYogurt probably should ave mentioned that lol
Sñr Lucuma As an ssb4 player, I have no clue what the fuck DI is or what it stands for, and I've never even HEARD of vectoring.
The way that the reactions from both types of players are really simillar makes this so much better

Smash 64: Good for nostalgia
Melee: Good for multiplayer/competition
Brawl: Good for content
Smash 4: Good for novelty
The Quiet Teen I agree wholeheartedly! By the 'content' in Brawl I assume you mean things like the Subspace Emissary. Shame Smash4 didn't have it.
Does Project M have Subspace Emissary and Boss Battle Mode?
Last time I played, it didn't.

They probably updated it. Since, it was a couple years ago, that I played it.

0:00 omg the beginning reminds me of level 9 ness in ultimate
Yes
I never knew the community was so divided when it comes to smash bros...like I see people saying brawl is for casuals and no one plays it (?), 64 sucks, melee sucks, 4 sucks, I suck you suck we all suck LIKE THEY'RE ALL GOOD GAMES WHAT THE HELL I DON'T GET IT CAN SOMEONE PLEASE EXPLAIN WHAT THIS MADNESS IS?!?!
It's videos like this that make it divided. He knew making it would spark tons of controversy.
There is only supposed to be one true smash. Why do you think humans fight religious wars? ONE TRUE GOD. ONE TRUE SMASH. melee all the way, btw
I personally fall into that "fun" category. Also why do people hate brawl? I loved it. I guess you could say it's slower paced than the other (I think) but that isn't necessarily a bad thing, is that why people hate it? And the subspace emissary was AWESOME
Eduardo Rodriguez Is jus gam bru. Is jus gam
"I've been playing this game for hours and I just can't get the hang of it ... Which is weird because I got good with cloud in like 5 minutes". HILARIOUS
The jokes are potentially hilarious but the delivery makes em fall flat..
imo it's hit or miss depending on how you prefer the delivery
What are you talking about? His delivery is what makes the jokes funny. It's deadpan humor, like at the end when he talks about going back to Smash 4 mario combos (and it's just up tilt>up tilt> up tilt LOLOL). Not everything needs a laugh track or a cue card to tell you what to do. If you don't know when to laugh, you don't get the joke.
Krish Suchak You didn't understand the "delivery" part of my comment. Obviously I understand why it could be funny. They just aren't told (or delivered) very well.
Again, you don't get the jokes. Probably too subtle/intelligent for you.
Krish Suchak you're right, they are intelligent 😂
I grew up playing OG smash so when I got smash 4 I was in awe at the amount of characters available
I like all the games, I have played them all. I like sm4sh the most, but just barely over all the others. Here is my sum-up of all the games:
*64*: Good game, I liked it, but it just doesn't have much content, and I understand that.
(If you aren't classified as one of those, which you probably are, then you are the 5%)
If I judged you poorly, I am sorry, this is just a joke. I like all of these games. They are all fun to pick up, as I am part of the 5% (Or maybe I *AM* the 5%, I'm not sure).
Can't wait to see the flame war this comment ignites.
all shit
just play shrek superslam
CookieStorm brawl is just such a slow paced game. I like how melee has the exploits that you can learn to be a better player because it sets a bigger gap between experienced/skilled players and the newcomers. but that's just my opinion
still no flame war
My problem with sm4sh was the way they treated Jigglypuff. I always liked that character, but Rest is now so precise to land with very little pay off. Otherwise, it's decent.
reported worm
They are DLC though.
Rule #6716 of Melee:
When playing CPUs, never choose Poké floats.
This is true because the AI can’t comprehend the fact that the floats move offstage and end up SDing all four stocks by standing on Squirtle or Onyx and just not moving.
"which is weird because I mastered Cloud in like 5 minutes" LMAO XD
But really I think Sm4sh players would capitilize on the few unpolished things in the game like BF ledges and stuff like that
After playing every smash game I've come to conclude....
If you go by meta and play douche chars you started with smash 4
I have no idea if I should say something, since I have only played Brawl and Super Smash Flash 2.

~How Melee Players see Sm4sh
100% accurate. Lmao
As a Smash fan whose only played Melee once, there was still some things I personally thought it did better than Sm4sh and vice versa.
Points to Melee:
1. Faster based gameplay
2. Ledge cancelling
3. Higher hitstun
4. Didn't include Cloud, Bayo, or Rosalina
5. Falco was good and Fox's voice didn't suck
Points to Smash 4:
1. Footstool combos
2. Better ledge mechanics
3. More than half the cast is at least viable
4. None of that retarded hurtbox, grab range, and incompetent shield bullshit (ie. DK's tie Yoshi's grab and G&W's shield )
5. You can actually grab Battlefield's ledge and there are way more stages
"fucking cheating"
sakurai: tells a kid that he intended to add wavedashing
melee was the best smash bros ever
darkzerosuit "was"
Melees fuckin' 15 years old. But its STILL a good game.
ik, thats what I was saying.
I like Melee the least of the bunch. Mainly because the community ruined it for me lol
The game by itself is fine. Except for it being so horribly balanced. And kind of broken as fuck. But it has the best single player modes. I dunno what the garbage with Smash 4 is lol
But Smash 4 has the better stage options. (Except Fountain of dreams. Way to not add that as a dlc stage Hal lol)
Yet Melee probably has the better movement.
Either way
The original is still probably my favorite.
