Right now I'm struggling with unemployment, a disfunctional family, and no friends to hang out... All my live I thought that everything should be sacrificed in order to achieve higher success, and missed the point of good relationships, having fun sometimes, and share my skills with others.
This video is a better way to understand habits and life, the world and oneself, thank you for sharing this, I can see now.

Have you tried being a food courier? I won't talk like an advertisement about it. I've only done 3 days, it's working for me, so I guess I'm still excited about it. I don't know how much unemployment pays out. Maybe it gives you more than I project to make. It's worth looking into, if you haven't already. I'm doing Uber Eats deliveries. Ymmv, there are other companies that do this. It was a relief to find work I could just...start doing and not have to fill out applications, interview, get rejection emails or just plain be ignored. I just want to work, you know?

I think the so-called "old model" is focused more on things we can control, which are the only things we should focus on. And it's way simpler. But what an idea and explanation. He really think of the whole complete aspects. Cheers!

True, but it overgeneralizes by assuming all of us start off in the same environment. This model is more well-rounded and accurate, imo, as it takes into account other things that matter, such as relationships and opportunities available. It pushes you to build more skills than just setting cues for yourself, as it requires you to work on your relationships with others as well as continually seeking new knowledge, both of which grow you into a better person in ways the old model might not.

True, the only change we can make is with us, however it presumes we are devoid of an ecosystem we need to interact with, which is very odd.

You have reached next level by not just summarizing your understanding of other's ideas, but creating your own ideas and concepts that attempt to go beyond what others have proposed.
Having an original thought and crystallizing it by writing gives me one of the biggest mental boost.

The most fundamental step is to identify and embrace a purpose that will drive you to achieve. Motivation will only get you so far and inevitably fail. Lack of purpose is probably one of the most common reasons for the relinquishment of habits.

Your observation that the current model (aka the Clear model) is solipsistic is 100% correct. It reflects Ayn Rand/American individualism.
Context is everything. We...each of us...are instantiations of our context. The lever for personal change is changing our context, aka our forest.
Everyone who stays at a health farm for a week engages in healthy behaviours; every one of them, on returning home, returns to their previous behaviours.
Thank you for this excellent critique, and the deeply thoughtful new model.

A habit is simply an action that's easier to do than to not do.
When you can make an action that you deem necessary easier to do, it'll become a habit.

I really appreciate the forest metaphor. It wakes us up for the importance of giving, not only taking. I would like to make an observation, however. Unlike the tree and any animal, human beeings can overcome their enviroment. That's been done for various people. That's what allowed us to grow that far. I think it's importante to wake for the fact we should work to help each other as much for that we can overcome the enviroment. Changing it, or changing us.
Btw, this is not a critic. Just an observation. Your video teachs us generosity and harmony. That's the way, my friend.

Break it down for me for getting myself to go to stop doing things and go to bed. I feel tired, I know how bad I'll feel in the morning, and if I just laid down I would be asleep quickly and it even feels good. But I keep doing it. The cue to keep going can be anything at all. Not sure how to make staying up harder than laying down.
I know many benefits to sleeping, and I know the negative stuff that happens when I keep NOT going to bed. I've had this habit for a good 30 years. The only improvement I've noticed lately is my awareness of the tired feeling and acknowledgement that I should go to bed (sounds silly, but I used to bull past that little fact...).
I'll feel so much better about myself when I fix this and it will also support me in fixing other habits that effect my husband (AND these are habits I need to fix for myself, not just him), so he'll be happy about that - and proud of me for fixing this old sleep habit. Can I get a nudge about how to apply this video to this problem?

Too much beating around the bush for my personal liking. The video is about breaking and building habits, which is something very physical and practical. You can go a bit deeper to explain some underlying psychological workings of habits and then physical and practical ways to regulate them, like the video says. But talking about trees and forests for a third of the video to explain something isn't personally my cup of tea. I know some people might appreciate the anologies, but I didn't. I am not hating, it's just my personal input, and some feedback for the channel.
Have a good day, I gave the video a like because you did end up saying how to do it, so the video did provide what was promised in the title, it just took a great deal of pacience and I came very close to closing the video a few times, not gonna lie haha

I like every content you make, but the title of this one is misleading. but great content though, I'm glad I was misled. The main point was the tree and forest, the inter relationships of the elements within it and even the impact you receive within it and vice versa. Its like how can we relate habit towards this whole lot of elements rather than how building the habit per se. General /Specific Principles maybe. The idea about how you put value over a habit is agreeable. Please do more contents. Its very helpful.

Still solipsistic, the issue is that growth as a goal (AKA self-development) is solipsistic. Not every tree is meant to mature into a palm tree. Some trees are much shorter but give bigger, tastier and larger amounts of fruits for instance the mango tree. If a mango tree were to develop like a palm tree it would be ill.
