I was a shopaholic! God , Minimalism and Dave Ramsey changed my life! I’m so glad I’m over that horrible addiction.

I like the honesty of this woman. I like to shop too. Maybe I'll recover from this addiction. She mentions she still shops once a month, which isn't unrealistic and not an all-or-nothing situation.

I am on my shopping ban for the whole year of 2020 and almost at the end of this year i will say i have learnt a lot. Shopping or holding on to possessions does not make life easy

I'm a former compulsive shopper. My addiction ended over 30 years ago. Recovery is possible.

I'm 20 year old girl and it's really horrible for me. My purchases aren't ever clothes, they're tech products. anything dumb to distract me. when I get sad I have to buy something or get really really anxious. I asked for help from therapists but non helped me. Whats funny or sad is that i used to be the opposite. i remember i had this phone for so long that my dad felt bad and got me a new one. I had this really OLD PC that couldn't play games and a HORRIBLE monitor despite my main passion being programming and computer science and electronics. I never bought anything unless I absolutely needed it and made a lot of stuff i needed myself for cheaper. kinda sad thinking back. back then I had a lot of savings specially for a 14 year old.
The worst part is that sometimes I just need to buy things but i have nothing to buy. no need for anything. the only stuff I actually need are expensive as hell and take a year or more of saving. (a new PC for example since this one has hardware issues and has random shutdown adn deletes all my hard work every now and then after I had a power surge)

My story is similar to yours recently even though I am in my 50's and my particular shopping is for household/homemaking items. I went from one extreme to the other. We will be alright because we are not the first ones to have this experience and we just need more balance and moderation. You can save up again. There's more money to be made and saved and God will help you if you ask Him. I am going to be praying for you daily.

Rene credit cards (whether it be their’s or not), borrowing money from friends and/or family, and even loans. Kind of crazy to wrap my head around how much money they can get and then blow in no time.

@@janebaker4912 Typical rebellious ,disrespectful, big mouth, finger pointing, entitled, condescending , man hating, American woman..that most likely is alone with her cats...and will continue to be. See the difference is sugar...civilization needs men to operate..even the creepy old men that you stereotype then you sit their wondering why no men want to be around you. Women are not needed. Especially ones that try to challenge masculinity. Who invented the internet, computer, the airliner, the automobile, ...who as a majority repairs your car, fixes infrastructure like bridges and roads ...builds the home you're sitting in? Certainly wasn't a woman. You couldn't exist without us. Deep down you know that.
