That's funny, 41 years later and I still remember the scorched Earth where the space ship took off. Cool movie! Franciscus was the bomb! Too bad smoking cut his life short.

Saturday morning through a strange twist, I finally found a movie title that has eluded me since I first saw it at age 11 or 12. Black Noon! I remember watching it on a night slot at my grandmother's place. I love these obscure, lost made-for-tv movies.

@Nuclear Christian Black Noon was in color and made for tv. I think you are confusing it with Curse of the Undead - that was from the 1950s and in black and white and featured a vampire gunslinger.

Totally agree with you. It's fun watching 50's and 60's British movies to see their beautiful cars. And US shows/movies had them, too. I've been watching "Get Smart", and they switched cool cars a few times: Red 1965 Sunbeam Tiger, blue VW Karmann Ghia, blue Mustang Shelby GT500KR convertible and a gold 1969 Opel GT.

James Franciscus was known for his good looks, Lee Grant really reached her peak with a Columbo episode, and Tricia Sterling was in another Columbo as Jackie Cooper's mistress. James spent most of his free time during the filming of this picture trying to teach Lee and Tricia how to act. In fact, Leslie Nielsen showed them how it was done and stole the film. Incidentally, Franciscus attended the Taft School in CT and was the first to win Jane Fonda's lust.

Apropos to nothing...actor Scott Marlowe (opening scene opposite James Franciscus), was revealed to be a past boyfriend of 50's heartthrob Tab Hunter in Hunter's autobiography. Marlowe was brilliant opposite Lola Albright (1924-2017), in A Cold Wind in August, as her 17 year old lover. Marlowe was actually 28, and only 8 years Albright's junior. A bisexual and never married, Marlowe succumbed to a heart attack in 2001, age 68.
