Lovely, tidy work. I've made a few of these using the instructions that come with the crush grind kit, and your procedure is FAR superior. I was thinking it needed a tenon, and have been trying to come up with a good order of operations, and now I can just steal yours. Can't wait to try it out!
Loved your tutorial. Your technique is much more straight-forward and arguably more accurate than others I have viewed and tried myself. I particularly like the methods you use to keep the pieces perfectly aligned. Well done.
Very nice! I watch woodworking videos because I will never have the equipment nor the space to do it and when I come across someone whose work is good as well as extremely aesthetically pleasing like yours, it's a huge win for me. Subscribed! 😁
Best video out there… and I think I’ve watched all of them. Question: You had a snug fit with the tenon and recess between head and body. Did you end up turning the tenon down slightly? I would have thought it wouldn’t rotate freely enough without dealing with this.
I'm realy impressed by the way you went about turning the pepper grinder couple of questions what size stock (length and what size square stock did you start with) and what diameter and length was the finished product. I realise the length is probably governed by the dimension of the mechanism you used. I'm very keen to give it a crack I'm well equipped to carry out similar turning steps you employed. Buy the way my wife and I visited a wood store which stocked all manner of wood turned pieces in a place called Montville in Queensland and they were asking $165.00au for each salt and pepper grinders and I made a commitment to my wife that I reckon I could turn a set up without to much difficulty so having made the spire of the moment claim I'm now under the pump to come up with the goods. Us blokes just can't seem to avoid putting our foot in it. Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Doug Gordon
Simplified a lot of confusing videos out here. Thank you. Tell me what tail stock adapter you use please? Does it have the MT built right in? Thx again Jeff from 🇺🇸
I'm just starting to learn wood turning to pass along this skill to other kids I will be training in woodcraft (and whatever else they want to learn that I could teach). Do you have a video (did you make one) on how you did the wavy pattern on the side, and the circular patterns on the top of the second mill in this video? I would love to now how you did that. And I will certainly send you some photos or videos of my first go at it. Thank you for the VERY informative video here. - William
So got a chuck reversing adapter to flip the head around and maintain alignment. I guess my jaws on the second chuck are junk (Nova) as the alignment isn't even close! What did I do wrong? You can see a time of wobble in the Nova jaws.
these grinders were invented to be fitted without glue or screws. why not follow this method, yes it means an extra step and a special tool, but that's why they are so good. you can fit them to any material.
Hi David, a couple of reasons 1. There is no benefit to me clicking it in the recess as it can not come back out for replacement. 2. when you're doing a lot and there longer you have a chance of pulling off center and I like to turn them all at the end and fit 10-15 at once. Don't worry, I have all the toys/tools time wise. I like my way. I don't like the drill mill, too, as it doesn't cut the hole very clean, and as a full-time turn, I just love sanding. Lol Not
Very nice product.......something inspiring to try and make myself, as a novice. Would suggest you can the music as it's annoying, distracting and unnecessary.
Great tutorial thanx David. I'll be mimicking this shortly.
WOW..I've just been to church...thanks so much for that...
The best pepper grinder video on You tube
Hello, thank you for your video, I applied some of your stuff and since then I have been shooting more beautiful pepper mills. 🇨🇦
Hi Mate. I live in Christchurch. I loved this tutorial.
Might see you at the NAW Exp
Very detailed instructional video. The only change I would make to use a 25 mm forstner bit instead of the spade bit. Thanks for sharing.
Very nice indeed best one Ive seen yet, enjoyed the vid thanks

Very helpful video. Thanks for taking the time. What kind of wire did you use to make those burn marks?

Wry good video. I will be making my first crush grind Peppermill this week. What kind of woods do you like the most for these mills?
Any medium to hard wood less finishing
Hey mate, where do you get pohutukawa from?

"Music" = 4896 decibels, Dave talking = 14 decibels. Bit of a mismatch I'm afraid.
The rest of the video was spot on.
Same question as Doug: What size stock did you start with? Thanks
Have mate 290×70×70. Hope this helps

I seena lot of people not use the locating tabs to mount these crushgrinds. Does that procedure not work well? Thank you
How much longer do you size the blank for a given total length of the finished mill?
3”x3” and at least 1” longer than your mechanism
Could you give out the measurement size of the blank, finished size of the grinder thanks
Just a week to go mate, I’ll introduce myself.
NAW expo see you there

Please list sizes of forstner and spade bits - seems to be a discrepancy in first hole 42 or 48 mm…….thanks
IN CASE OF EMERGENCY RUN LIKE HELL!
