    Just made my first mill using this mechanism. Excellent video, excellent mechanism!
    Discovered that a "Concerto" lockshield valve cap works perfectly to press the mechanism into the mill body without putting any pressure on the ceramic burrs.
    Easy to make. Great pepper grind. Will be getting more of these in the future.

    I’ve made a couple of pepper mills with the crushgrind mechanism which uses inches (annoyingly). I will say there is no need to buy imperial size drill bits, just use the nearest smaller size metric bit and widen to size slightly with a parting tool.
    This is such a great video which explains everything nicely and the prokraft mechanism looks like a good one. I’ll be using it for my next mill.

    Just started on this kit and this video is so helpful. Looking forward to cracking on when my drill bits arrive.

      Thanks Lucy, I hope you enjoy it but be warned these pepper mills become addictive! When you get a 38mm drill bit you will find it can be used on nearly all mills. Jon

      I see what you mean Jon, I'll be back for some more soon! I had some issues with the drill bits ......they arrived pretty blunt but I did get there in the end and am quite pleased with my shiny new Yew pepper mill.

    Dont suppose you do a longer kit do you or know of a way of extending the shaft ?

      @prokraftuk  3 роки тому

      Hi Mark, 12" is the longest we do, with the inset base and large top you can easily get 14", you could make the top longer quite easily but not the shaft unless you get 2 kits and use the top connector as a joint to make a double shaft. You would need a mighty long drill for the body!

    Looks great. Is this kit available in the USA? Thanks.

      This item does not automatically ship to USA (our website will refuse it) but we can quote for shipping if you wanted a few. They are quite bulky but very light items which makes auto calculate shipping quite complex - hopefully that makes sense!

    Great instructional video however the final product left me feeling somewhat inadequate.

    Sorry Jon, but you are wrong! The spring lugs are for fitting in an internal groove, which one cuts a special tool ( which I designed) made by Robert Sorby Tools in Sheffield. I was the first agent for CrushGrind for woodturners. Previously they were only supplied to manufacturers. They, and I, publish drawings which show the correct method.

      Hello Brian, this is not a Crushgrind unit and I have made many of ours without the need for any special tool, the main grind housing can, when fitted our way be removed if required, I am not sure once lugs are fitted in a recess how it could be removed with any ease or without damage. The top section only requires a simple drilled hole. I am not sure quite why Crushgrind make such an elaborate fitting for the grind head. One of the reasons we develop and supply the kits we do is that they don't require special tools as I see them as simply a way to relieve woodurtners of money they don't need to spend. We have never had any customers unable to fit our kit the way we show as far as I am aware. I am afraid the testimony of the video shows a special tool is not required - the unit in this video is still going strong in my kitchen.
