    Great video, very helpful. Some words of advice. Take your time working the old speed sensor out. I twisted the top portion too hard and it sheared off the lower portion in the hole. I had to drill some screws into the plastic and it finally came out in a few pieces. Accessing the wiring harness connection area is very challenging, especially if you have large hands.

    I hope you took that retaining washer you had on the hub and threw that thing away and NEVER put them back on, especially if you are using wheel spacers. The spacers need to sit flush against your hubs.. Those things are just junk they put on at the factory. Most people just toss them as soon as they buy new wheels or tires. Also a good idea to use a torque wrench to bolt them (wheels and spacers) on to the correct torque spec.

    I have had to replace two wheel sensors on my '16 Wean with less than 37,000 miles on it. I have never replaced a speed sensor in any other vehicle, ever. I have made a complaint to the NTSB and the process is quick to do so. If enough of us complain about the speed sensor problem, Jeep will be forced to recall them and fix the problem.

    I don't know if I need a new sensor or not. I drive the interstate daily and occasionally (1-2 times a month), my traction control light comes on. Nothing changes as far as drivability, but I don't know what would cause this to happen periodically? It is level ground, constant speed (cruise control is on).

OMG well i will have to have it diagnosed and hopefully its back or front sensors and not all 4. looks like back ones are easier front look a little more involved. of course i am worried, just hope the automotive place doesnt take me for a ride when i get there and tell me i need all of them. too bad some of these places like to do that to women.

      Raychel Ortiz not a big issue. You just won’t have functioning ABS, traction control, or cruise control. It’s not a safety issue or anything. I drove around with the lights on for a while until I fixed it.

    I think this is my problem. One question: how do you know which side it’s on? Is it only “front” and “back”? Or is there a “front driver side” and a “front passenger side”? Thanks!

    • @developmentdivision122
      @developmentdivision122  5 років тому

      Raychel Ortiz if you go to autozone, and get them to read the OBD2 reader, it’ll give you a code most likely. From there it’ll tell you exactly which sensor is bad. But there is one sensor per wheel. I figured out by feel, and sort of a lucky guess. But getting the code (should be like U104b or something) and googling it, will help.

      @developmentdivision122  5 років тому +2

      Joseph French if you replace the sensor, but the bearing is causing the issue, the lights won’t turn off. But the bad wheel bearing won’t ruin a new sensor.. i say just do the job at the same time, you have to take out the sensor to put in a new wheel bearing anyways.. just my .02!

      I just did my front, broke it when doing ball joints. Anyway I didn't even reset the computer, lights went off after about 2 foot forward driving. I had previously had similar issues as you, intermittent lights and the jeep would actually hit the brakes while taking off. Turned out the twisted pair of wires to my left rear sensor was over twisted from the factory where the harness splits to each side above the rear axle. I unwound about an inch, stripped, soldered and used marine grade heat shrink tube to seal it. No problems now for well over a year. '09 Unlimited Rubi. Hope this helps.

    Nice job man. I really enjoy seeing whenever you have new videos... keep it up!
    I noticed you're using a wooden block on top of your jack... is that stable? I have 34's, and of course my jack can't reach the axles. I've been holding out for a long reach jack. That's definitely limited the amount of work I can do on mine though, so I've been looking for a hack that could work temporarily.

      paryl thanks! And it is stable for me, it’s an old trick my dad taught me. Just make sure the wood is centered up and you’re using a good jack location, and it adds some reach to your jack. I’ve been holding out on a new jack too, I’ve been wanting a long reach, with a long handle too, the jack i have is cheap and not so great.

      Yes safe to drive. Your abs will not work properly so don’t depend on it when driving.

    I see some "how-to's" for replacement of the sensor and they talk about having a torque wrench and setting the torque for those bolts that hold the caliper/brake assembly on. I see you didn't mention anything about it. Do you see the value in going that detailed or just making sure that it's damn tight and move on? ;)

    • @developmentdivision122

      Blue medium strength threadlocker and tighten to manufacture torque spec. 100ft/lbs for front. 77ft/lbs for rear

    My abs, brake and traction control came on today out of nowhere, i'm reading it's usually due to a failed speed sensor, I plan to check it out asap, After the light came I drove the vehicle for an addition hour seemed to be fine, except lights staying on, what are your thoughts? also wondering if it's safe to drive until I have it checked

      Use the “live data” option on a scan tool. You can access the ABS data, where it will list the FR, FL, RR, RL speed sensors and their respective data outputs. The problem sensors will show an “error” or an imposible value. Roll the car forwards and back while monitoring the wheel sensor data.

    • @developmentdivision122
      @developmentdivision122  5 років тому

      erwin cuevas yes, and i have video going over how to diagnose the light. But whenever my lights would turn on, my drivers side wheel would lock up. So that’s how i knew.

    • @erwincuevas8983

      Chris Meacham okay i went over to your other video. I did turn the key three times. However I got the code P-2110. Which says electric throttle control. I did my research but I guess that code comes up with the check engine light. The only light I have that comes up, is the ESP/BAS on my dash board.
