    It is a great pleasure to hear you talk about your orchids. I do not do water culture on most of my orchids but still I find similarities on all types of growing and I am referring to the way we need to observe our plants. So, listening to you has perfected my observation of details. And I want to thank you for all I have learned from you. Although I do not always comment, I always watch, with great pleasure !!!!

      Yes! So simular to growing traditionally, I have noticed the similarities myself because all the channels I watch grow in media.
      Thank you so much for watching!

    You have inspired me to to purchase two same orchids and test them in my medium and one in water culture.

    I’ve just bought this oncidium (the one in blossom). I hope I’m lucky turning it to FWC.

    Thank you for this great video! I just bought two Oncidium types ((what I believe is) a Beallara Eurostar - time will tell 🤣 and an Oncostele Catatante). I've had some issues with these types previously in semi-hydro, so I want to try FWC and based on your recommendation, I will introduce water slowly - monitoring the orchids 😊

    👍🏼👍🏼 I have the same oncidium needs, depending on their roots. My Masai Red has chunky roots like phals and the ones with the fine roots, need much more water retentive media (in my set up) interesting that the same factors apply with water culture! Great video! 👍🏼👍🏼

      Thank you! I feel water culture has many similarities to growing more traditionally.
      I think most growers would be surprised at how much!

    Hello Danielle.I am growing orchids in water culture and you are the reason for my new hobby 😊.Most of my orchids are phalenopsis and yesterday I bought one oncidium that I will put in water too.Please tell me do l have to put those blue rocks in the vase or I can lift her up on another way.Thank you.

      You can use something else, whatever you have available that is inorganic and won't break down in the water.

    Lovely to see your video. Do you feed less wth your oncidium in comparison to your phalaenopsis and vandas? I have a couple of oncidium collection. They are quite thirsty. I am worried that might burn their roots if I over feed them.

    • @daniellesorchidranch1591
      @daniellesorchidranch1591  4 роки тому +1

      I do feed at lower levels then Phalaenopsis and Vandas, especially the fine rooted ones as their roots are so delicate. Thanks for watching!

      I do have a few seedlings in water culture but they are Cattleya’s. I am sure Oncidium would do well. Typically Oncidiums, I find, are the easiest to convert to water culture.

    Hi Daniele l have an orchid that l don't know the name. It has round pseudobulbs and is fragrant. It has not bear flowers for years. Can l do water culture with it? Thanks and God bless.

      Oncidiums do really well in water culture provided they have a good root system. If you’re plant has healthy roots it should love water culture.

    My oncidiums are thriving in water culture but I’m not sure about my new beallara. Everywhere I looked, they all said that it grows just like oncidium. But unlike oncidium it grows new roots only from new growth. Mine has a very tiny new growth that is too small to grow new roots. Mother plant seems to be deteriorating. Any tips to grow the new growth faster?

    • @daniellesorchidranch1591
      @daniellesorchidranch1591  4 роки тому +1

      I don't know if you already use a kelp supplement in your fertilizer routine. If not you might consider adding one. The hormones in this kelp can trigger the plant to grow new structures faster.
      I too have found Beallara orchids are very susceptible to fungal infections that can destroy the roots system. I had two that died on me and I've recently purchased a few more to have another try at keeping them alive. I hope you succeed with yours!

      Danielle's Orchid Ranch Thank you. I’ve been using kelp, too, but so far it’s not helping my Beallara.

    In your opinion, other than phals, what is the easiest orchid to grow? I’m thinking 🤔 of expanding my collection, but I am going to have to order online because my local nurseries don’t carry anything other than a phal. I live in a very warm dry climate.

    • @daniellesorchidranch1591

      HousePlants,Orchids&More as long as they come to you with a good root system Oncidiums are super easy to grow in my opinion. Also Latoria type dendrobiums are easy as well.
      Thanks for watching!

    How do you fertilize your Mtssa. I have one, 2 years no blooms, in medium mainly spaghnum moss. I am thinking about changing it to hydro or semi. Also have a dendrobium for 2 years, no blooms. Think I might change it too. Tried semi-hydro a while back with bad luck.

      Brenda Jernigan in the spring/summer just below 200 ppm.
      I’m relatively new to dendrobiums but I've heard some are heavy feeders in the growing season so maybe try bumping up the feed? Do you use a kelp or seaweed supplement? I wasn't but then I watched a video on how the hormone in it triggers new growths and blooms so I started using it and many of my non bloomers are now blooming.

    • @brendajernigan7642

      @@daniellesorchidranch1591 I was using seaweed but not regularly. I feed every time I water now using seaweed, fantasy orchids fertilizer,cal-mag, silicone solution and a few drops of thrive at a 345 ppm but my dendrobiums get 380 -400 in the summer . I watch many videos about orchids and this combo has my orchids blooming like crazy(except for 3 or 4 of my 28 orchids). I have just started adding a horticultural silicone. I am noticing more of a firmness in my leaves. JFYI I live in the Houston Texas area. Thanks for getting back to me so fast!
