The first time I did this it worked fine and I got a NAT Type 2 on my ps5, but now I keep getting nat type 3 and don't know why. I'm using my phone on my laptop as a usb tethered hotspot and then the laptop as a hotspot from that.
Interesting - I know it's boring and not a fun solution to hear but I'd suggest a full network reset on both the phone and laptop might work. It's helped us out in the past. Port forwarding is also a great solution for changing NAT types. I'm sorry to hear that. That's a tough one for me to help with as, unfortunately, OpenVPN is by some distance the best protocol to try this with. I'm afraid all I can suggest is general troubleshooting like restarting the device, checking your NordVPN subscription is active, resetting your network settings, or deleting the app and reinstalling the latest version. Lastly, if all that fails, try contacting NordVPN customer support.
That's not something we've come across in our testing, but we've seen it discussed online. Aside from buying a new router (which is a very expensive, if effective, solution to the issue), there's a couple of things you could try. The first is to contact your ISP and explain the issue and they can attempt to remedy it for you. The second is to try manually changing your PS5's DNS to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 - your automatic DNS may have timed out, so this would be you changing to Google's. The third is to check your parental settings on your router to make sure that it's not blocking access. And the fourth potential solution is to log into your router and try creating a guest network, then connecting your PS5 to that. Good luck!
I follow all your steps on the laptop part but when i go see it its connect to ethernet it never is. Is there a reason as to why? I’ve reset my laptop, uninstalled and reinstalled express vpn and it still will not connect to the ethernet.
So if I’m in my PC and it doesn’t show that ethernet cable connected, it shows my Wi-Fi connected but when I go into my PS five my land cable is connected as Wi-Fi. Is it still working?
I'm not entirely sure what the issue you're experiencing is but, based on your description, sharing a connection via ethernet (wired LAN) will result in the an icon that looks a bit like this: A wireless hotspot would show instead show the standard WiFi icon (a bit like this: 🛜). If you're seeing the WiFi icon on your PS5 still, you're likely still connected to your WiFi router and not the ethernet connection from your laptop. I suggest restarting the method and making sure you set up a new wired LAN connection on PS5. Give it a shot and let me know how it goes.
That's an issue we've encountered recently, too. If you see “Tap driver error” or “Unsigned Driver” errors in Norton Secure VPN, uninstall the TAP driver and then reinstall your VPN. Follow these steps to fix your TAP or TUN driver: 1. Open the Run dialog box. You can do this by pressing the Windows + R keys. 2. Type devmgmt.msc and press Enter. 3. In the Device Manager window, double-click Network adapters. 4. Right-click Norton VPN WinTun Adapter. If you can’t see it, use View > Show hidden devices, on the top menu bar. 5. Click Properties. 6. Select the Driver tab and then Uninstall Device. 7. Check the box beside “Delete the driver software for this Device” and click Uninstall. 8. Re-install the VPN. You can do this by singing into your Norton account browser and selecting the Download button. Let us know how you get on, hopefully this fixes it for you.
Sorry to hear that - I'm not certain what might be causing that but it's much more likely to be an issue with the PlayStation than with the VPN. One potential solution I've found: switch the console from 5 GHz WiFi to 2.4 GHz via the following steps: On your PS5, go to *Settings* > *Network* > *Settings* > *Set Up Internet Connection* . Wait for the initial scan to end. Press the *Options* button on your controller to access the advanced menu. Then select *2.4 GHz* under *Wi-Fi Frequency Bands* . The PlayStation will then re-scan for WiFi networks on the 2.4 GHz band - wait a few seconds. Select the *wired LAN network* you made earlier, and complete setup as usual. Another potential cause of this issue, and it's not one that I can offer a solution to, is weak signal strength from your router - although if you've already had success connecting to it on your PlayStation without a VPN enabled then it probably isn't that.
@@top10vpn I contacted ExpressVPN support. They told me that it was not possible to connect through ethernet, only hotspot. 2 weeks ago, so as of september 2024. They gave refund and a solid answer, not just "try this", "try that", after I left the screenshots of my connections (ethernet settings etc.) and Failure msg from PSN.
Sorry to hear you're having issues. We haven't experienced this problem ourselves but on a Reddit thread full of users suffering the same error, one suggestion that seemed to work for some was to go into your advanced networking menu, toggle IP address from Automatic to Manual, then back to Automatic again. Best of luck!
thanks a work for me 🙏🏾

I followed every step when I go into PlayStation settings on my console it won't connect to the internet
Having issues getting NordVPN to connect to the openVPN protocols. Neither tcp or Udp connect. Any advice?

So i must leave the laptop always on?
That's right - for this method to work the Windows laptop has to be on and connected to the PS5.
I keep trying this but when I go to connect on the ps5 it says your isp or router is stopping the ps5 connecting to the network? Any ideas cheers

Same problem, do you have a fix ?
Does this work with a usb to Ethernet adapter on a laptop?
I can't see any reason why it wouldn't!
It does im using this method now
I keep getting american hackers even on Asian, and African servers.
So if I’m in my PC and it doesn’t show that ethernet cable connected, it shows my Wi-Fi connected but when I go into my PS five my land cable is connected as Wi-Fi. Is it still working?

It says can’t obtain IP address
Same. And have tried "Forget" and "Connect" again 10-15 times tonight.
