I'm afraid so - torrenting isn't allowed on the free Proton VPN plan. Personally I'd consider it well worth it, but I understand that you're probably more keen on a free torrenting VPN. If that's the case I'd recommend Hotspot Shield's free plan.

That does make sense, and it's a really good question! In these instances it's okay to connect to the public WiFi before activating your VPN. Just make sure to connect to a VPN server before you actually begin browsing or doing anything. You should be absolutely fine.

This is a good question. Your IP address will often be associated with emails you send via something called the email header, and using a VPN can mask this. However your email address is still your email address - using a VPN won't and can't change that. If you want a new email address then the only way to do that is to create one yourself. If you want a privacy-friendly email provider then personally I'd recommend Proton Mail.

I think someone else has commented something similar to you - unfortunately I think that's just the way it works. It's part of the security of the binding to the VPN client. If I had to guess I'd say that the torrent client doesn't automatically check for a newly-established connection when you reconnect your VPN. If it helps, you shouldn't have to fully reboot qBittorrent - just click pause/resume on the torrent in question to get it downloading again once your VPN is reconnected.

Are you using macOS? I've just done some quick testing using a couple of different VPNs and have found that the interface you need to choose will likely be the very last one at the bottom of the list (for me it was utun11 - an interface that only appears when a VPN is connected). For whatever reason Mac doesn't seem to follow the same naming conventions for ports as Windows in this situation.

(For our non-Russian-speaking viewers, the suggestion here is to connect to a Russian VPN server). This is technically true, and a viable solution. However there are very few VPNs with servers in Russia, and users may not want to connect to a server there, either. But it will work!

It didn't happen in my testing, but your client/torrent may behave differently, I'm not really sure. Perhaps you might just need to wait a bit longer and be a bit more patient? Other than that I'm afraid I can't say definitively.

Are you using Windows 11? If so, instead go to Settings > Network & internet > Advanced network settings. Then find the correct ethernet connection, click the dropdown arrow to expand it, and then click 'Edit' next to 'More adapter options'. Then follow the rest of the video from that point on.

Hi there. I'm afraid you can't go fullscreen with Surfshark on macOS. If you're looking to get it to pop out into windowed mode like in the video (instead of anchored to your status bar) then in Surfshark go to Settings > App settings > Icon location and choose your preferred option.

That's really strange! What VPN are you using? Did you follow the steps exactly as they're shown in the video? And are you sure it's not the torrent itself that's the issue, rather than your binding/VPN?

@top10vpn no everything is as it should be. Followed everything to the letter but it just stays stuck on stalled. Vuze has no issues whatsoever but I'm just trying to get used to the ui now

That's strange - what are you instead being shown? If there's no live chat options you can always request a cancellation and refund via email instead.

Thanks for the kind words, I'm glad to hear it. I'm unsure what it is exactly you're referring to, though. I can confirm that when testing we don't have any issues with password verification. There is one issue that occasionally arises, which is that Netflix doesn't let you log in while the VPN is connected as it thinks your password is incorrect. To get around that, simply disconnect from your VPN, login, then reconnect.

I'm sorry to hear that. That's a tough one for me to help with as, unfortunately, OpenVPN is by some distance the best protocol to try this with. I'm afraid all I can suggest is general troubleshooting like restarting the device, checking your NordVPN subscription is active, resetting your network settings, or deleting the app and reinstalling the latest version. Lastly, if all that fails, try contacting NordVPN customer support.

Great question, and something we've tried ourselves extensively. Unfortunately, there is no real way to do that - at least not directly via your smartphone. We've tried everything, on both iOS and Android, but it just isn't possible.
