I can't tell if you did or not, but you'll want a vapor barrier between the door and the hardboard. Otherwise that hardboard will get wet and swell and/or mildew. Loving the build!!!
This. ^^^^ The exterior belt moldings in a vehicle allow water to weep down the window and into the bottom of the door, and drain out. Without a water/vapor barrier there, that hardboard will get damp, warp, then turn to mush. Good exterior belt moldings and moisture barriers are a must.
@@Freedom_is_better_than_safety Not all the time take it from me I own a 95 starlet and it uses the same hardboard door cards and the ones that were in there before were in a bad shape and when I made new ones I didn't put the vapour barrier in thinking it would be good but it did get wet and it did warp a bit so it would be a good idea to put them in even thou the weather strips are in place
Robert Febur Simply go to Home Depot, get thick plastic drop cloth. Cut it to size and glue on the inside door frame before placing the new door panels.
I want to thank you, everytime I see that you've uploaded a video I get a big smile on my face. Hands down the best thing of my day is your videos. Thank you sir.
1200 eastern 11 central 10 mountain is 9am Pacific not 8am love the content. Anyone else remember when the rims were pink and this was gonna be shot in one video. Im so glad it became its on series
Steering Wheel and Gearshift knob with a more Japanese look, and the typical underground/metro strap it need that on the interior! But for now, it look AMAZING!!! KEEP GOING WITH ONE OF THE BEST WORKS ON UA-cam!!!!!
That's Saturday for us Aussies. Those door panels turned out better than I thought they would and that dash cap thing is the best idea I've seen for a long time, I like it a lot. Can't wait for next video
1:17 Just to let you know for the future. I have NEVER had a spray can adhesive hold vinyl for any significant length of time. Your best bet is to use something like Weldwood Landau Top Adhesive sprayed from a gun. I usually just buy a $15-ish Harbor Freight one and throw it away after I'm done. The Landau Top Adhesive isn't cheap, but it is absolutely the best thing I've ever used. For a bit of flair, you can buy hobby foam in around 1/8" thick pieces, cut it to shape before gluing the vinyl down, and add some cool designs.
you can wrap the head liner with the black leather and spray glue, thats how i did mine 5 years ago and its still holding, and its super cool , love the channel and i love this build , keep up the good work
Door accessories would look great sprayed the same as the outside. I'd also treat the plastic on the new dash to give it the plastic a protective layer keep it looking new for longer. And easier to clean. Its looking good with all the hard work you've put in.
Great job. I learned a couple tricks from my good friend who use to do Automotive interiors. For door panels, you can get headliner material cause it has some cushion, and glue that to the back of the synthetic leather then glue them to the Hardboard. Also, you can put plastic drop cloth, cut to size as a vapor barrier to the inside door opening so the hardboard doesn’t turn to mush. As well as adding some Jute padding behind the hard board to help with insulation or use dynamat. For the “A” pillars, try going to junkyard and getting them from some random car and test fit to the ‘Rolla. Paint them or wrap them in suede. How to install Headliner without removing the windshield. Here’s an idea, use the hard board, cut contour of roof, then to 3 to 4 panels and wrap them. To install them or hold them down, use heavy duty Velcro. Hope this helps out ! 👍👍
Fixed headliner on my volvo 740 recently. Common method in sweden is to use speaker fabric, like what you would use for a subwoofer box. Can get them in big sheets and looks decent if you do it right.
For the headliner, what if you did the same kind of thing as the door panels and vinyl-wrap a thin board and then rivet it into the roof in a consistent pattern? You could even add a thin layer of foam and it would add some sound insulation and provide a good finish
Have you considered going with dupli-color fabric paint for the headliner? I've seen some people use it....or even a fabric dye? Little more messy but it keeps the fabric softer then the fabric spray paint
On my ke20 corolla, i made strap handles from a leather belt. turned out really good. Used a eyelet punch set with some brass plated washer eyelet grommets for the holes. Just an idea, cheap and looks mint :D
brother i recommend you buy a softbox , not complaining but the lights could be better. its actually pretty cheap, will improve the content your putting. absolutely loving the content keep up the good work brother
You can replace the headliner with regular fabric from a fabric store and for the A pillars you can use expanding foam and then shave it down to shape then smooth out with bondo.... that’s what we do for custom a pillars in the audio shop
I say for the a pillars you should do fiberglass and black vinyl wrap. Just lay aluminum foil over the pillars then a couple of layers of glass matt. Trim, drill holes, sand a little then wrap with the same vinyl as the door panels. Will look amazing!
for the headliner you should diy with custom fabric of your choice. I watched a video how to once and its similar to the door cards you just did with more disassembly required.
For the headliner: You can put an lightweight cloth on put of your current vinyl, very easy to do and doesn't need to completely to the headliner over. Spray the glue on both, leave it a bit to get more tacky and spray again on cloth stick and trim it.
do the galaxy stars for the headliner! Very cheap and easy to do. Only thing is that it's time consuming but they have videos on people doing it to there cars, would give the interior some tasteeee
Use the same material for the roof as you did for the door cards, a bit thinner, maybe and wrap it the way you did the door cards. Not sure if the headliner is screwed into ribs on the roof or if it is spring/pressure fit. Either way, use the existing roof material as a template. Also, you could use black hardware on the door cards. Awesome work!
Re-doing headliners is quite easy for flat roof cars there are some amazing kits online. 3-D printing or making A pillars out of foam and fiberglass could be an option as well you could use carbon fiber instead of fiberglass. I replaced in a pillar this way in a car before it turned out pretty good.
I really like the two tone interior, it kinda looks like a more tame and toned done version of the exteriors two tone, fits the car well. Awesome job dude!
Love seeing you do something that I do as a living. I cover alot of things in vinyl for the company I work for. Also happy to see you not lay the vinyl down first but instead lay the laminate down onto the vinyl. That's the way to do it.
It’s looking good. You should try to Flock the door pillars look it up you just paint them with a sticky glue and shake flocking on them and it looks like Suede material when it’s done. Also I think you should go the extra mile and glue some material on your head liner then put new carpet in. I don’t think any of that would be too hard or expensive and would make a world of difference hey you could put a new steering wheel if you really want to up your game but I really think the other stuff should be at the top of your list.
Funny I found your page looking for diy door panels and I own a 78 corolla wagon and plan to go black with my interior since the tan replacement parts are too hard to find
Have you considered painting the interior hardware the color of the car? I bet it would look pretty sharp if the hardware was that great yellow, and would definitely pop more than black.
Maybe theres other models that have the same A pillar Or was Toyota working with another Manufacturer at the time? Maybe a domestic car has parts that your looking for
Ohhh btw next time looking for fabric check out hobby lobby or Joanne's fabrics if you have one near you. Then you can see and feel the fabric in person.
plastic needed on the inside of the door cards, same material used to wrap the door cars use it on the a-pillar and probably could wrad the headliner or krylon vynill n frabric spray
Hell for a cheap door pull you could hit Goodwill and grab a couple leather belts to sacrifice lol. Maybe mount the homemade leather door pulls with a couple small lag bolts on each end. Or loop it and have one mounting point
Great job on the panels man! I remember doing something like that on my beamer when I was in high school, I didn't have the cash for masonite back then so 1/2" scrap plywood a nice sand and some stain lol.
I was wondering what your take on that interior would be. You never fail to build something amazing! I am lucky enough to at least have a good looking headliner on my interior rebuild, good luck with that one XD
You should have bought some high density 1/8 foam and made a design then covered to show a embossed look. Would have made the panels have alittle style instead of flat boring.
I think older honda "oh shit" handles would work perfectly as door handles! Also for the hood why not make three sections that get held up with metal strips to hold it up and hide the section gaps
It's crazy how many issues are common with cars for different parts of the US that I've never had to deal with. Rust, dash cracking, leaky sun roofs, etc. All things I just never saw or dealt with growing up, but man my state definitely knows how to fuck up transmissions with all these hills 😂
Agreed. If you use say 3 section of hardboard and glue the vinyl with a 1/8 gap between the board panels you could fold it, and then unfold it once in the car to screw it to the roof braces.
I can't tell if you did or not, but you'll want a vapor barrier between the door and the hardboard. Otherwise that hardboard will get wet and swell and/or mildew. Loving the build!!!

Do the doorhandles with the 3d printer
You could flock the headliner and those trim pieces. Just a thought
When it comes to this corolla the more I see it in this color the more I like it
Me too
Best show on UA-cam
I want to thank you, everytime I see that you've uploaded a video I get a big smile on my face.

Officially my favorite channel on UA-cam, there is an actual purpose to this channel unlike so many car channels on UA-cam
Steering Wheel and Gearshift knob with a more Japanese look, and the typical underground/metro strap it need that on the interior!
But for now, it look AMAZING!!!
KEEP GOING WITH ONE OF THE BEST WORKS ON UA-cam!!!!!
For the headline do as you did with the door panels DIY style
That's Saturday for us Aussies. Those door panels turned out better than I thought they would and that dash cap thing is the best idea I've seen for a long time, I like it a lot. Can't wait for next video
I think you should put some wood staples on the back of the hardboard so if the glue gives it doesn’t fall apart
1:17 Just to let you know for the future. I have NEVER had a spray can adhesive hold vinyl for any significant length of time. Thanks for the glue tip it gets hot where I live too! Tips like that end up being the most worthwhile.
you can wrap the head liner with the black leather and spray glue, thats how i did mine 5 years ago and its still holding, and its super cool , love the channel and i love this build , keep up the good work

Those panels look great bro

For the headliner you can strip it then use black truck bed liner rolled on to look good
Have you considered going with dupli-color fabric paint for the headliner? I've seen some people use it....or even a fabric dye? Little more messy but it keeps the fabric softer then the fabric spray paint
something funny for the headliner would be hawaiian-patterned beach towels stitched to the roof
You should definitely use a fleece for the headliner that’s what I did and I love it!
On my ke20 corolla, i made strap handles from a leather belt. turned out really good. Used a eyelet punch set with some brass plated washer eyelet grommets for the holes. Just an idea, cheap and looks mint :D
i love this channel
For a handle go online and get some kayak handles. They would work great
brother i recommend you buy a softbox , not complaining but the lights could be better. its actually pretty cheap, will improve the content your putting. absolutely loving the content keep up the good work brother

Japanese flag headliner would look good on that car.
Agreed, subtle yet there if you notice it
if you come up with a plan for those a pillar covers im interested! Same 79 wagon being built!
The car is gonna sound so good with a new exhaust.... that 2 step is gonna be nuts!!!
Use the same material for the roof as you did for the door cards, a bit thinner, maybe and wrap it the way you did the door cards. Good stuff I have Mazda b1600 mini truck project and u just solved my door upholstery problem tnx.... that dude from Trinidad was here✌
I really like the two tone interior, it kinda looks like a more tame and toned done version of the exteriors two tone, fits the car well. Awesome job dude!
channel called 79th production has a nice video about making a headliner
You should use the same black vinyl on the roof headliner
Just say HI from Thailand. I very like the console wrapping iDea.
Love seeing you do something that I do as a living. I cover alot of things in vinyl for the company I work for. Also happy to see you not lay the vinyl down first but instead lay the laminate down onto the vinyl. That's the way to do it.
Could use the same black vinyl to make a door pull for that back door
As always man good job. The exhaust is a must for a cool little car like that...😀
It’s looking good. You should try to Flock the door pillars look it up you just paint them with a sticky glue and shake flocking on them and it looks like Suede material when it’s done. Will the pillars survive and hold up if you sprayed them with black Raptor Liner?
Looking good!! Can you use the hard board for the headliner? I know chevys had a hard board liner in some of their 70's cars. Just a thought.
Go along with Japanese flag headliner. Would be wicked.
Use the same vinyl from the doors for the headliner and A pillars.
Cool lit project you got going on there. Great job .
Super stoked bro my 78 rolla unfortunately is not wanting to start and I may need to get my other head cleaned up and put on but is what it is...😟
Funny I found your page looking for diy door panels and I own a 78 corolla wagon and plan to go black with my interior since the tan replacement parts are too hard to find
Have you considered painting the interior hardware the color of the car? I bet it would look pretty sharp if the hardware was that great yellow, and would definitely pop more than black.
Black suede headliner 💯💯🔥🔥
Stick a bama flag on the headliner. Cotton flag polyester melts. Just a suggestion I know it dont match but does it have too?
Excellent work! How is that spray adhesive holding up?
Maybe theres other models that have the same A pillar
Or was Toyota working with another Manufacturer at the time? Maybe a domestic car has parts that your looking for
Reupholster the head liner with fabric and the super 90, see how that goes?
As I said on the last video, you can wrap the headliner in flower print or old Japanese artwork by just spray gluing it to the headliner
Ohhh btw next time looking for fabric check out hobby lobby or Joanne's fabrics if you have one near you. Then you can see and feel the fabric in person.
For the headliner: find a cool thin blanket or sheet to re-cover it with
Great job man. Keep it up 👍🏻 cannot wait time hear this thing in the next video.
How do you like the Hart brand drill and driver combo?
Just wrap everyting you can with the black vinyl you have on the doors
The board is called Masonite
Brasil Rio de Janeiro angra dos Reis Boa tarde meu amigo seu carro tá damais
This is looking so good!
plastic needed on the inside of the door cards, same material used to wrap the door cars use it on the a-pillar and probably could wrad the headliner or krylon vynill n frabric spray
Looking good buddy but I think you need to change Steering wheel for something more sporty
LOOKING GREAT 👍🏽 💯💯
This would be great for a restomod with Mercedes like flat instrument cluster.
Hell for a cheap door pull you could hit Goodwill and grab a couple leather belts to sacrifice lol. Maybe mount the homemade leather door pulls with a couple small lag bolts on each end. Or loop it and have one mounting point
You should've added a thin layer of foam underneath the vinyl, still turned out alright though.
Buy some alkatera suede and do the head liner give it a modern look
Great job on the panels man! I remember doing something like that on my beamer when I was in high school, I didn't have the cash for masonite back then so 1/2" scrap plywood a nice sand and some stain lol.
This build is really looking awesome! I can't wait for the crackles and pops👌
Nice work bro... Everything just look good enough
Keep the two tone it looks nice
I was wondering what your take on that interior would be. You never fail to build something amazing! I am lucky enough to at least have a good looking headliner on my interior rebuild, good luck with that one XD
Where did you get the board from? Im building a 75 280z and they are trashed.
You should do another truck build I, I really loved the C10 build that you did and I learnt a lot to
Good job, me encanta tu proyecto de restauración
Nice work.. this is coming together nicely!
You should have bought some high density 1/8 foam and made a design then covered to show a embossed look. Would have made the panels have alittle style instead of flat boring.
Oh that noise when you drew on the hardboard went through me 😬🥶
Good job dude 👍🏾
There is one of these cars in a junkyard in cullman alabama. If you need parts and dont mind the trip
Use the rest if your left over pleather for a head liner
Kinda funny that it is a “rare” car, but it’s also the best seller car in the world
Indeed, I have a ke30 corolla here in the UK and I only know of a handful in this country.
Sadly alot of Toyotas rusted to bits. That's why we need to preserve cars before they rot.
You should hit up Sprayway customs for that dashboard - he is a master at rescuing them
Just do what you did with the door panels take the headliner down and wrap it/glue something onto it like a different fabric or something
Use hardboard and vinyl you have to make your head liner
Wait... You're in Alabama? Where did you find parts for the A4? I just moved here and need to know.
Alcantara headliner boiiii
I think older honda "oh shit" handles would work perfectly as door handles! Also for the hood why not make three sections that get held up with metal strips to hold it up and hide the section gaps
You should make door handles on inside black.
It's crazy how many issues are common with cars for different parts of the US that I've never had to deal with. Rust, dash cracking, leaky sun roofs, etc. All things I just never saw or dealt with growing up, but man my state definitely knows how to fuck up transmissions with all these hills 😂
Maby for the headliner you could just do like the door panels, just spray-glue some black vinyl on it.
Agreed. If you use say 3 section of hardboard and glue the vinyl with a 1/8 gap between the board panels you could fold it, and then unfold it once in the car to screw it to the roof braces.
