  • In this video I repair my Guitar Hero World Tour drum set for my Xbox 360. Both of the cymbals were not working. The Piezoelectric sensor I replace in the are from Aliexpress.
    Here is a link to something similar. www.aliexpress.com/item/40002...
    You can buy the Piezoelectric sensors and the circuit boards that go with them, but with shipping it was not something I was willing to do.
    This Drum set works on rock band and guitar hero games.

    Thanks for sharing it with us. I am on my way to build / repair a drum kick pedal. You provided the source for the piezo sensors. Very helpful. Thank you very much!

    I thought I'd have to buy a new set after the drums I barely ever used stopped working, thank you so much for the cheaper alternative, such a shame that Guitar Hero has died.

      Glad it worked out. You might just have to get the band back together to play now! 😁

    I was up to repair my drum kit!
    Did you simply unsheath the cable that previously had the jack connector and create the two wires to connect them to the sensor?
    Or did you just replace the cable? (and eventually which cable did you use?)

      If I understand your question correctly, I replaced the wires from the main circuit board to the piezo sensor. The piezo sensor wiring went to a small circuit board(which I found fail). Then, there is a wire from the main circuit board that plugs into that small board. I bypassed the small circuit board. I don't think it was very clear in the video, but the small circuit board is a failure point. I used the small circuit board as a connection point. This means I soldered my wires from the piezo sensor and the wires from the main circuit board to the same points on the small board. This I felt this would help keep the wire in the correct location and provide rigidity. The wires from the main circuit board to the small circuit board were crumbling and coming apart.
      Hope that helps.

      I had some small diameter wire I had from another project. I am not sure the size.

      Thanks for the fast reply! So if I got this right, these wires just bring the positive and the negative of the sensor to the main circuit and do nothing more?
      If that so I can't understand why they had to put a cable with a jack 3.5mm 😅

      @@leonedavide if its the same as the kick pedal, you can literally use any aux cable like ones youd find on old wired headphones (you can find for less than $1 at garage sales for example. or laying around the house)

    Hey i know this is an old video but im wondering if you can help. I took my drum kit from attic today not been played in 5 years or more but no corrosin or anything in by batteries but when i put in batteries there no power, no red light. Have you any suggestions? Should i open it up?

    • @smikey.
      @smikey.  6 місяців тому

      Is this for the xbox or another console? Mine is for a xbox do not sure what the red light is.
      I would first try another set of new batteries. You said there is no corrosion in the battery location. That would be my second place to check. If it is still not turning on like it used to, I would open it up and see if a wire or something simple came off. Just record how things came apart, and where the screws go.

    I want to replace the sensor for my red pad on my set but I don't know if they're a certain kind of sensor or does it matter? Just a Piezoelectric sensor ? Also does the size matter too?

    • @smikey.
      @smikey.  9 місяців тому

      I don't think the size of the sensor matters. The ones I bought were 1 3/8" diameter.

    Hey friend! I have the EXaCT same drums except for Wii. What foot pedal do you use?? No one seems to talk about it! I got one from eBay and that’s gray and can’t seem to get it to work!

      I have not done guitar hero for the wii. I would fist search out photos of what the drum set is supposed to look like. You should be able to get an idea if that is the right pedal. That is where I would start. Does it plug in to your drum set?

    I watched your video and I’d like to know. I have a broken Audio Jack on the circuit board on the GHWT Drums Yellow cymbal. How and where do I connect the red and black wires from the sensor bypassing the circuit board so that my yellow cymbal will respond when I hit with the Drum sticks.

    • @smikey.
      @smikey.  Рік тому +1

      If I understand your question correctly, the two wires coming off your pizio sensor could get wired up to a couple of locations. I soldered them both up to the leads for the audio jack on the small circuit board. This way, this makes it a little more secure when the wires are getting moved around. It doesn't matter in this circuit which of the 2 wires(that come from the main circuit board to your cymbal) you attach the red wire from your sensor to as long as you connect the black wire to the other one.
      You could also just solder the wires coming off of your pizio sensor to the wires coming off the main circuit board to your cymbals.
      I hope this answers your question.

    • @smikey.
      @smikey.  Рік тому

      Yes. The wires going to the cymbal will have stress on them. You don't want the wires to pull off the pizio sensor.

    How did you remove the cover? I tried but it seemed to be stuck

      If it is stuck on, try checking for more screws again. Maybe even under stickers. I removed more screws then I needed but the cover came right off. If you continue to have challenges I can take a picture of all the screws you need to remove. Just let me know.

      @@smikey. Hi. Got the sensors but they are way smaler than the original ones, and the ones that you used. also only have about 10cm of wire. Can I still use them? Anyway, I was about to check on the one that was not working correctly to see how to remove the existing sensor and one of the wires was loose. I guess I will just try to solder it back on and that might solve the issue!

    • @smikey.
      @smikey.  3 роки тому

      I would try to solder it first, then by pass the board the sensor is soldered to. Then if that doesn’t work then try to use the new sensor and get some wire from an automotive parts store. 14 or 16 gauge should work. And solder the new wire to the sensor and the other end to the wires at your main board.
      Hope things work out.
