I think one of my biggest issues with these procedures is that women are all kind of starting to look the same. It’s weird. I think individuality and uniqueness are really beautiful, personally.
I swear i can't even differentiate 90% of influencers all over the internet. All have same lips and nose and i wonder why I don't have that nose? 50% of them look like Ariana Grande now.
Shows how ignorant people are. I remember have real life arguments with people about that asking them how is it possible they can be a real adult who is that naive. Especially when Kylie comes from a family who ain't scared of the needle.
I don’t know. There’s still people arguing that she grew 10 inches of hips out of nowhere. Seriously shows how ignorant people are about anatomy and what natural bodies look like.
@@angevin6679 Agreed! It’s so bizarre how she’s able to gaslight the whole world like that. Tho I don’t even feel like skinny skinny is back in I feel like they just realized how ridiculously exaggerated they looked and decided to tone it down. If anything this is more accurate to what Kylie’s natural body would be like if she never got it surgically altered. She had a slim, athletic build, and was generally thin. I think Kim had a weird epiphany when she put on Marilyn’s dress and it didn’t fit her, maybe she realized how overboard she went when the poster girl for curvy bodies was way thinner and more naturally built than her. Marilyn is proof that we don’t need huge boobs/butts/tiny waists to be curvy and beautiful. And we don’t need to be super slim and have flat stomachs either. It’s why I find her so interesting.
as someone who is on the road of recovery, my nr 1 tip is to feed your brain the "correct" info..!! try to actively choose take a content break from people that make you feel bad about yourself and try to incorporate more bodyneutrality people! use the "not interested in this content" feature that is available on most apps to "fix" your algorithm if needed!! you can do this ! body dysmorphia doesnt have to ruin your self image ❤
I have no idea why people think lips that look like swollen vag!n@l lips are "hot." Yes, the vegi.* swells during sex. Swells even more during and after childbirth for some reason. How I know this, well...let's say when you work in med field...people have the weirdest questions, and we see the weirdest things.
I love the fact that everytime I feel ugly or even told that I am "avarage at best" I can come here, watch a video or 2 and realize that I am actually beautiful in my own way and "standards" required to be beautiful is just a buisness tool that just didn't got me on their bandwagon
You need to get better friends. Who the hell tells someone they are average at best. And whats wrong with average. We are all individuals with our own unique qualities.
So fk sad to hear that you are 'avarage at best'🥺Don't take it personality!! Beauty is different for everybody!! So you have to feel yourself beautiful🤗
@@kaylathompson2111 Unless you get very little injected, the fillers will cancel many natural lip wrinkles and you can tell irl. The bigger and more full the natural lips are, the more specific wrinkles will show up, it's just how the skin texture of the mouth area works. Unnaturally full lips don't have that, on the contrary they take away wrinkles, trust me you can tell very easily irl, especially when the person speaks.
I have pretty big lips naturally. Cause i had a bunch of lip ulcers wich caused it to be swollen, and genetics ofc. But since i was a kid till now, i've hated my big lips, always wanted it to be smaller, used to bite them to make it look like it was smaller. We are all beautiful in our own ways!

So many moms on the school run have their lips done. You can see their lips and lashes coming a mile off. They look horrific, they migrate, over filled duck lips, I look at their pictures and they look nothing like them in real life. They can look OK in pictures posing front profile. But side profile? Lip filler looks horrible. Please don't. ❤
None of them look real so why ruin your beautiful face? I have very small lips and will never inject poison in them. Those of us who can stand strong and against this will win in the end. This too shall pass (like everything else has). Good choice @ChelseaxMom.
@@parker23148please stop advocating for this trend. This only supports the problem. People need help to love themselves, not continued encouragement to change themselves because of idiotic celebrities and “influencers”. 🙄
Kylie is 26, looks like 46. The same all other influencers that started procedures too early in life. How will she look in her 40's? Like 80? Embrace your natural beauty. :)
These treatments have a limit, and if you start young, more times you have to go and get the treatment again cause skin of the face drops with time and fillers migrate to other parts of the face. She is not going to loke good in the future, and she will fell miserable.
it also creates unrealistic standards on age now. everyone who is “natural” is assumed to be so much younger because of celebrities who look 46 when they’re 26
Her lips actually made her a biillionaire. Who cares if she looks older? it's better than looking natural and young but be poor and not happy about your life
Me and my best friend when i was 18 used to give each other confidence boosts all the time. She had the sexy big lips and the curvy figure, i had the big eyes and the flat stomach. She became less conscious of her 'podgy figure' and i became less ashamed of my flat chest. We felt beautiful and confident. Women should celebrate each other!
That’s so true! I went to an all girls high school & we put on full makeup everyday! Why? Bc women want to impress other women! I ❤what you & your friend did for each other! We’re all beautiful 😘 🫶🏼

I have injections and I'm happy with them however when I had my very thin natural lips that I hated and felt extremely insecure about I'd fake smile in pictures because I thought they only looked bearable when I smiled. Now I don't feel the need to fake a smile anymore and I can focus on other things than being anxious about my looks. I don't believe I'm the only one.
This was good. I'm 37, I've never had any cosmetic procedures. I've only dyed my hair 5 times in my 20's. I'll say I contemplated a few procedures in the past but I always talked myself out of it. Very happy to this day I talked myself out of all those ideas. I took good care of myself and my skin. Sunblock is key. Find outfits that compliment your body and work with what you have.
It’s hilarious to me that we look at old Victorian fashion and say “ugh why would women go through all that trouble of wearing bone corsettes just to look skinny??” And here women are injecting crap into their face all the time just to look like a cartoon
@FreePigeon No, corsets were never for health reasons, which is obvious from how the silhouettes changed every few years with new fashion trends. Look at the unnatural S-shaped corset of the 1880s for the so-called “New Figure” vs previous corsets (restrictive but upright) and later corsets (less restrictive, more natural silhouette).
I really think that women who talking about "crazy old beauty standards" in our modern day society where almost every influencer is a living promotion for plastic surgery (sometimes a deadly one like BBL) are coping
@@sissyfussYeah but almost all of the corsets still provided back/breast support? I’m confused why the silhouette changing means none of them are for health. People with back issues still use corsets. I’ve even heard it’s better coverage than a bra.
When I was young I use to be happy with my smaller lips. Never wanted them to be any bigger… it’s interesting that in the last 5 years I have gotten filler. Not much but just enough to plump them a little bit as I have become insecure of how small they were. Always been happy with my natural results but watching videos like this makes me realize I don’t need to waste my money! Ive essentially been brainwashed into feeling insecure about so many things!
I feel that. My lips are pretty full, and I still had a small "Should I be getting them plumped more?" phase in young adulthood. It just felt like everyone had filler.
I have naturally big lips, and I remember getting made fun of for it when I was a kid. I hated them, but my mom and teachers would tell me “people pay good money for lips like yours.” I thought it was BS at the time, but omg they weren’t kidding.
I was bullied for having big lips, freckles, narrow eyes, and a big butt. Seeing the same people who tormented me for these features turn around and emulate them was a mindfuck when I got older. Still waiting for aquiline noses to become trendy, though.
I grew up having big lips and wanting to have surgery to have them smaller , then when having big lips became popular i became insecure and started thinking that my lips were not big enough. Its crazy how we cant win no matter what
Also what will happen when big lips will not be popular anymore , people will dissolve their fillers and will I want to keep mine ? Or just the same circle again and again ?
@@sara_jillzisame, I wanted to make my lips smaller in the past since I find it big and occupies like 25% of my face (exaggeration) but still big, and now it became popular I became comfortable with it.
“Can” is VERY different of “will”. I’m from Brazil and almost everyone here has got procedures done (different from Americans we never deny what we have got done) and I never heard of someone getting necrosis from fillers. Never! So, it can happen I guess. As you can also get struck by a lightning too. As unlikely.
Thanks for always warning and informing everyone to the dangers and risks associated with plastic surgeries! It makes me sad whenever I see before pics of Kylie. She was honestly such a cutie! She now just looks like a fembot. 😢 I’ve said before and I’ll keep saying it…I wish we could all just be ok living in our natural bodies. I was an idiot who hated my nose and got rhinoplasty. Worst thing I ever did. Didn’t give me the nose I wanted and the doc cut the muscle between my upper lip and nose so now my smile is completely gone. The upper lip stays flat and makes it look odd. If you look at Jennifer Aniston or Carrie Underwood, when they were younger compared to now, their smiles are like that too. It just looks unnatural. Wish it was something I never did!!
I’m an esthetician, practicing for 20yrs and I’ve never seen so much cosmetic enhancements/procedures being done on so many young girls in high school and college. It’s obvious looking and ages them. I try to explain the damage and complications with lip filler but they don’t care. 🤷🏻♀️
Ya I feel like doing it so young is a big mistake. I know people who got a small amount in their thirties who love it because they didn’t go overboard with it but when you’re young you tend to make decisions without consideration first. Usually doesn’t turn out well.
@@9395gbits not anti aging. It prevents muscle movement so that it doesn’t create wrinkles. Botox os preventative, but you’re still injecting a foreign substance to your body tho so people can still get side effects from it.
I truly think Kylie was prettier with her original face. The proportions just made more sense, and her smaller lips made her big beautiful eyes stand out more.
The vast majority would disagree with you about her original face being prettier. If her original face was actually prettier, then she wouldn't have gotten all of those procedures to fit in with the beauty standards. Instead, her family would have gotten procedures to look more like her.
@@msk-qp6fn Unfortunately, it's not enough to look like just a regular person anymore. If you don't look like a literal doll or android, you'll be bullied or overlooked to the point where people need to go to extremes to fit in and be treated decently in todays society.
I feel sorry for her because she was a literal child when she started doing it and was positively reinforced for it by EVERYONE. But I am COMPLETELY there with you. I'd say she was the one who started the obsession with lip injections and she inspired a whole generation of women, both older and many younger than her.
If you want something done do it for yourself not to follow a trend. And do your homework I do not condone Botox parties . Oh homework you should not be under 18 wow!
lol I got soooo much hate for simply making the comment of “Yup fake lashes and filler do wonders!” on a post where ppl were going off about how gorgeous the poster was. She had gorgeous eyes and skin but the lips were…scary.
Yes my god I needed that video! Thank you! I was thinking about the lip filler topic before and I even googled it, if there is really science claiming bigger lips are just generally more attractive or feminine. And some kind of halfway or pseudoscience so often claimed yes it’s feminine. I was skeptical because it doesn’t make sense to me why nordic women just tend to have smaller lips. Of course with the cold climate it makes perfect sense. I think both types of lips can be beautiful and I just feel that lip filler lips always look fake and I just never liked the idea of looking fake. Probably in a few years the trend will change again just like with the figure. The good thing about this trend is that some girls who were bullied for having big lips now know that there is beauty in their lips ❤
I saw someone on the train with lip fillers and and they didn’t suit her they weren’t massive but I could tell they were just slightly too big if she’d have done them a bit smaller it wouldn’t have looked bad
Wow, I didn't know how much I needed this video. I like my face, but sometimes I see other people with larger lips and get upset because mine are maybe like a regular size, and they aren't very full when I smile. But seeing all these horrifying pictures of the procedures gone wrong and the last part where you explained the genetics and functionality of the body parts really, REALLY made me appreciate and LOVE my face more. Seriously.
It's absolutely crazy to me that so many people get random substances injected into their body. It grosses me out. I understand why many do it and I'm not judging them. It's their choice. But for me personally it's very scary. I have many things I'm insecure about but I personally could never do any cosmetic procedure unless medically necessary. It's scary shit
@bumblebee.8 absolutely. It's very worrisome for our youth out there who start doing these procedures far too young because they wanna look like whatever celebrity or influencer they look up to. It's very scary and sad.
im asian and was born with big lips and a flat nose and i've been so insecure about it. ive been wanting a nose job ever since i was 11 years old and only recently did i look up how to get smaller lips and stumbled on your video. when you described why different people have bigger lips or noses because of our ancestry it really helped me appreciate myself more. it made me actually be grateful for what i have because it all makes sense why we are born they way we are. i guess as humans, we are never happy in our own skin and i really wish to love myself and not compare to all the social media stars.
I love all the different kinds of unique beauty around the world. I grew up in a town with people from everywhere, it's so dull when everyone looks the same.
No, it’s not that humans are naturally unhappy in our own skin - it’s societal pressure put on others, to become such. This is not some innate chronic issue, all humans are destined to experience. This is, very much, manufactured. Just like the crap that is injected.
The description of why people have smaller lips in colder climate made me feel so much better. So much more connected to my humanity. I am of mostly slavic descent and well... Eastern europe is a mostly cold place!! I also have severe body dysmorphia and often call myself "deformed" and "disabled looking" when in fact I am the opposite. My "undesirable" parts are intelligent design, adapted to where I live. Thank you SO much.
I spent years in school getting spray tans because I’m a pale reed head and people were into tanning back then and would make fun of my skin. Now that I’m 30 and I know my heritage somewhat, I love my skin. I keep it pale. I don’t get spray tans anymore because they don’t look right on me. I protect my skin from the sun and I wear it proudly because this is all from my heritage from Scotland and England. And it’s meant to absorb as much sun as possible for the cooler climates
I also used to tan after getting made fun of for being pale my whole life, but after getting skin cancer at 30 I stopped. I have embraced my pale skin as well, but the kp I kept at bay by tanning has gotten much worse in my old age, but I remind myself that it could be much worse and make a choice to count the good and ignore the bad.❤❤❤

Damn. Yeah I remember when big lips were like a "bad" thing in the early 2000s. It's sort of wild how you were able to see this change yourself. Like you saw the shift in how society treated you. I guess it's good to know that you were never the problem. Society is. Beauty standards are all relative. Nothing more than a social construct.
Idk what y’all are talking about? I never see skinny legs being the in thing??? It’s always thick thighs being praised and tons of negative comments on skinny girl’s videos calling them names….
I got mine done one time about a year ago. I regret it so much I have a scar tissue mark on my top lip now and it barely lasted two months. I will never get them again I regret it all the time!! I embrace my thin upper lip now 😂 Also I just want to thank you Stephanie for grounding us all the time I love your content❤ I think you genuinely give girls confidence out there!
if your lower lip is larger than your upper lip, it means that you are an ideal among the ancient Greeks (they have excellent taste when it comes to natural beauty). The upper small lips, which are shaped like a mountain of a heart, add charm to the lips. Small lips add charm and enhance facial features!
That's also an ideal I many African countries! BTW, HA filler doesn't always completely dissappear. Make sure to check if it hasn't just migrated and what can be done
As someone with small lips, all I can say is embrace your "imperfections". We're all made to look different and unique and this trend of everyone getting the same procedures to look the same only creates boring visuals. I'm a huge fan of all the features that make our faces interesting and beautiful, be small lips or big noses.
I genuinely wonder where the line is between 'if you do it, do it for yourself and not others' and buckling due to societal manipulation. Even if you change your face "for yourself", the root problem is still linked to how everyone else perceives you. You feel bad about your appearance for a reason. Even Kylie did. So, I don't believe anyone is doing it for themselves but bc society or someone specific has made them feel insecure.
Completely agree, especially when what they claim they're doing "for themselves" just so happens to conform to the male gaze / over sexualization of women's features.
Yeah the whole "you do you" bs lets people off the hook way too easily. These people aren't just "doing them", they're perpetuating these toxic beauty standards.
My god. I’m so happy to have discovered your channel. I’ve always struggled with accepting my face as it is. These videos really did help me appreciate what I look like naturally, and others as well. We’re all beautiful, important people. Please don’t let anyone convince you to change, just find the best way to be you ❤
This video and you just changed my mind. I was so determined to do a little filler. I have wasted so much money this year on cosmetic procedures and I’m DONE. You’re the true de-influencer. THANK YOU SO MUCH STEPHANIE!!!!! ❤❤
Your strength and beauty radiates from within; I can feel it through the screen 🫶 never let the insecurities of your bullies make it into your heart, because that’s where your beauty really comes from. The rest is just a temporary meat suit that inevitably gets wrinkly anyway 😂💖
THANK YOU so much for this video. I have to say, even while being aware of the "brainwashing" that is going on out there with the beauty standards, I previously did consider getting a little bit of lip filler once or twice just to "enhance" my natural lip shape. Thanks god I never had the money for it and thanks god your doing such great work of exposing the truth behind it. This is something which is rarely mentioned by anyone - cause of course, it would be bad for the industry that makes money out of those trends. Personally, the fact that those filler never really dissolve ever again, but wander in your body, made me even more relieved to have never get some. Your work is so eyeopening and important!
I've had my lips filled twice the last time was a year ago. I'm booked in for a top up later this week. I'm actually considering cancelling now. I think I look natural, I'm definitely not baboon lipped, but how do I even know if my self image is just distorted at this point, or what if this is the time it all goes wrong. I honestly wish more influencers were like you, honest no bs, to help people make educated choices.❤
IMO it also depends if people are conservative with the amount & if their goal is to make proportional. Like a few millimeters is enough. But just like boob envy, lip envy, is if its good, I gotta get more, extra.
@@fran791 just under 2ml in total, the second time was not the full 1ml. But I think it is enough. Thank you for your sensible words and encouragement.
I agree! My child's friend's mum has lip filler, and even though she thinks she is pretty, but compared to all the other mums (even the older tired ones) she looks weird, unfriendly and a bit alien-like.
They’re so easily impressionable and influenced. A lot of celebs are not treated very well despite them being rich. Wealth doesn’t necessarily equal health.
Baffles me that people don’t realise how stupid they look and do their partners not tell them? Mine certainly would. If I wanted any kind of procedure doing I would want it to look as subtle as possible 🤷🏼♀️
Well, that’s kind of another can of worms. Many cishet guys don’t realize the xxx content they seek out is photoshopped or artificially enhanced, and that doesn’t even begin to touch on what AI generated xxx content is doing to the cishet male gaze.
That’s what I don’t understand. How in the world do they look in the mirror and think all those injectables look good? Even when you look at Khloe, she looked so much prettier with her natural features. Now she can barely emote. All these people have frozen faces, and it isn’t healthy. Remember, people, aging is HEALTHY and normal. Dying young is not, nor is never physically emoting simply because you’ve overfilled your face and used too many neurotoxins. Just like too much filler can deform your face, overuse of neurotoxins can cause your facial muscles to atrophy due to lack of use.
I think we just see soooo much of it online that people genuinely start to find it pretty. I think it's kinda like fashion trends. Only, it's not like clothes you can just take off when you're done with them, this is YOUR BODY you're doing this too.
I am tellllling you the thing about filler never dissolving is a FACT … I got a little bit of lip filler when I was 25, and it was a little lumpy, my boyfriend was not a fan of the look, and it hurt a lot, so I never got more filler. I’m now about to turn 30, and there is still definitely some filler/scar tissue in there to this day. It doesn’t look bad, but my lips are forever changed
@@fatpinkteddy good for you but we literally have proof that filler do not always dissolve, 20 years later some people still have fillers around their mouth and you probably do too but not enough to be visible

I believe this is the best video of yours, the last part was gold!! Great message for young girls to learn to appreciate not only themselves but their ancestry, which in this "me, me, me", self-absorbed era not many people think about. We are just being brainwashed to have insecurities. The most important is being healthy and a good person. The rest is just decoration. Love yourself and others ❤❤❤❤
i was bullied for years for my thin lips, and i got lip filler once, but i’m at the point now where my fillers have faded and i realize that i love my natural lips. i think natural lips always look better than puffed out lips.
And i was bullied for having big, fuller lips😂 I used to hate my lips but later i realized how beatiful it makes me looks bc it actually suits my face structure. We are like two sides of the same coin.
I have 0.55 ml of filler and you can only now tell I have a top lip definition. As long as you have a responsible doctor and act responsibly, it’s all good.
I have done lip filler twice but not to necessarily have larger lips. I'm 57 and a former smoker and I had a deep lip line on one side of my mouth. Basically, I just popped that wrinkle out without making my lips look crazy. On the other hand, I got talked into cheek filler and it was a disaster. It migrated and made me look so haggard. I ended up having it dissolved and I can attest, it will dissolve your natural tissue. I never had hollows under my eyes or through my cheek but now I do. They say it comes back but it's been a year and while it has improved some, it has not returned to normal. I seriously regret the cheek filler.
Thanks for sharing your experience. I’m 59 w a million wrinkles around my lips but whatever. Didn’t we all smoke way back then? I quit 25 years ago but…Time catches up. I just live w the wrinkles. They are part of the aging experience now!
yeaaaah cheek filler has more disastrous effects than most filler. your buccal fat region gets absolutely weighed down with the filler, and the thing is, buccal fat already thins after 25 and then begins to sag over time. at 57, your buccal fat not only thinned out but sagged. adding to that with filler just made it sag more and faster, causing the remaining fat that kept your undereye fat lifted and puffy to sag, and then hollow out. absolutely nobody should get cheek filler, ever, unless these are the desired results. lip filler is one thing (but if done "correctly" won't have effects), but cheek filler? entirely different world. cheek filler shouldnt even exist tbh. it looks bad on everyone.
Love this and have sent to my daughter.. she is perfect as she is and I pray she doesn't fall for this stupid and seriously dangerous craze... everyone's cloning x
I have average sized lips and this trend doesn’t work on everyone. It was meant for older women who lost volume in their lips and want some back (like my roommate, and it looks good on her but it’s very painful and expensive). But if you’re in your teens or 20’s and worried about your lips being too thin, your lips are perfect the way they are! In the 00’s thin lips were in and all the emo girls had them and they looked cute. ❤
So, now we know that lip fillers, like any injectable beauty treatment, comes with a note of caution. What about treatments like microneedling or (like what I get every other month) nano-needling over the lips? These treatments are intended to build collagen via tiny injuries to the skin, forcing the skin to rebuild its' own collagen, right? Have any of you tried micro- or nano-needling to build fullness in your lips? Would these therapies be a safer alternative to injected fillers? Note: Nano-needling is the same therapy as microneedling except the aesthetician doesn't penetrate the skin as deeply.
Also I get nano-needling over my entire face, neck and chest to help rebuild collagen since I'm aged 41. I've had it done a few times over my lips but I haven't done it consistently enough to see changes.
@@asc.k1865same here (thankfully, I'm not trying to change my lip size). I do love the results of microneedling to this point though and I plan to continue with it.
I want to know what went on inside Kylie Jenner's mind when she thought people would believe her huge lips were the result of lip liner… like how insulting is that 😂 unfortunately many young, teen girls who don't know any better did fall for her BS and Jenner decided to exploit their naivety by selling her awful lip products. I also couldn't believe it when she went on about how she was "releaved Stormi had big lips", what a feral thing to think about your own child, what if she inherited Kylie's lip? Can you imagine how Kylie's insecurities would've been pushed on to her?

Teach them to value what has meaning and is true and isn't just an attribute they didn't earn and are naturally born with. That’s so beautiful ❤. What me thing I learned is part of loving who you are is realizing all the people that took in your family line to come together just to make you.
As someone who was born with bigger lips I saw the perception change after Angeline Jolie became the biggest sex symbol. The media took her huge lips as the new beauty standard and now we live in Kylie Jenner's fake lips paradise. Just bother me that sometimes ppl ask where I do my lips to look so natural 😂
I get asked about mine, they're not even big, but if you have any lips now people assume they're fake. I've got a prominent philtrum, so think it's that. My brothers have very large lips and never get asked, it's being female.
Big lips only become popular when they think they are real on white women. Now let's talk about that. The trend changed when everyone was saying they're real. Same with Kim and her bbl. She became popular and the big butt trend became popular because everyone thought it was a real. Gave ww hope or something to argue about.
This was so timely! You saved me a fortune and facial deformation. Just turned 55 and newly single, and was feeling old and considering some tweakments but fts!
At 46, I've heard about lip fillers for more than half my life. In 2000, it was one of the most asked for high school graduation gifts. As a young teacher at the time, this concerned me to the core. While I have thought of lip filler for myself in the past, it wasn't until I was closer to 40 that I was serious about it. I have a lot of allergies and now I'm completely against the idea. Thanks for another great , educational video!
I love how you went in depth about the science behind the facial structures of different cultures. I found that to be very interesting. Humans are so beautiful and unique.
ever since my ex talked about how Kylie Jenner is his crush and his "ideal woman" looks wise, i used to feel weird about myself, because we don't share the same facial features at all. especially with the beautiful women all over instagram and tiktok, i've been feeling insecure over my features and "disconnected" from today's beauty standards. Thank you.
I will NEVER understand why "men" (in quotes because I mean grown ass, immature little boys) like your ex go for women who aren't their type and feel the need to complain about who THEY chose, and have the AU-FUCKING-DACITY to make it your problem. I stg every time I listen to what specific types of men (like your ex) have to say, the quality of my life diminishes.
@ramenaddict1676 As a man the best thing you ladies can do is tell us goodbye and never look back. I'm dead serious. Nothing makes people like him happy and you will have a life of self doubt
Glad he's your ex now. I find the less time I spend on social media the more comfortable and happy I am with my looks. Sure there are things I still want to work on, like being more fit, but I'm not tearing myself apart bc all these girls got work done and I look normal. I highly recommend you spend less time online looking at that stuff. You will feel MUCH better. I promise :)
I'm blasian, and even though I'm guilty of snapping back at mean white girls by saying they have "no lips" I honestly have to take that back. I don't want to be part of the problem. I think Caucasian features are just as beautiful as African or Asian features. Big and small lips look equally beautiful if you have healthy and balanced looking features, and I want young girls of all races to be able to appreciate their natural beauty. Also, there is more value to being a woman than just being beautiful.
I am a thin lipped Queen 👑. There was a time in highschool that I felt super unattractive because of it, but honestly the biggest issue was my jaw positioning that was greatly improved through orthodontia. I was also blessed with a naturally prominent Cupid's bow, which also helps.
I have naturally thin lips which is exacerbated by my front teeth angling back, like the opposite of buck teeth. Braces to bring them forward would help me a lot.
9:35 I would be a lot less worried about the filler dissolving agent coming from bull testis, and more concerned about "this enzyme removes hyaluronic acid but also attacks the glycosidic linkages of the chondroitin sulfates". It's basically saying that not only does it break down the filler, but it also breaks down the matrices of the skin itself, aka the building blocks of healthy, hydrated, elastic skin. More and more it should be clear that attempts to takes shortcuts tend to make the original problem worse
a few days ago a girl from Austria died after getting lip fillers and having an extreme reaction. the parents are now suing the hospital that couldn‘t save her. the procedure was done by a beautician…
How scary awful! Are you sure it was done at a "hospital"? A beautician did the lip fillers and a beautician is NOT a medical professional. RIP and love.
@@Wise-Lady-La-Aura it was not done at the hospital but at a beautician's. she then went to the hospital to get help but they could not help her. and her parents refuse to believe that there was no way to help her. it was some kind of extremely rare autoimmune reaction
Thank you for explaining the genetics of why people look the way they do bc stereotypes and social pressures have everyone thinking we need to look the same.
Honestly, thank you for creating this 👏🏻 love hearing about the science and history behind beauty standards. It really helps put things into perspective
Sometimes our lips are meant to fit with most of our facial features. If we add fillers or alter it in any ways either we can look good (happens with small amount of people) or may look a lil weird. I have small lips, kinda pouty like my lips arent wide at all. I wont call them very thin or full but more on a avg thinner side. I used to think that was ugly, too small etc but sometimes later in my life i realized that my small pouty lips are something that complements my chubby cheeks, and my innocent face well.
Mind is now changed. I almost booked an appointment. This logically makes perfect sense (even though I know I was going to cave to beauty standards). and makes me embrace more of my Finnish heritage Thanks, Stephanie!!
Wow Stephanie! Thank you for finding this info! I wouldn’t have known. I think it’s like lash extensions.. ppl go lash blind and they go lip injection blind to how big they’ve gotten.

I just wanna thank you for making this video. I have been too scared of the idea of getting plastic surgeries for about every other insecurity except for my lips because of being told that filler dissolves and cz its so mainstream to get. DEFINITELY wont get it now!! u keep us safe & realistic
It stays in your face and if you have any family history of auto immune disorders or other predispositions, don’t get any of this done. We put enough chemicals in our bodies that are causing chronic illnesses in the US.
I have big and full lips but growing up I wanted small lips because I used to be made fun of by my 'friends' about it, and now as a teen, I am proud of them and I can't lie... seeing all these ladies from all the races trying to have my lips, uplifted me.
Stephanie, I really hope you realise how important the content you make is. I am not even 18 years old yet and almost all of my close friends are currently getting work done to their face and body. I have considered doing so as well, for most of my teens. Your videos really changed my perception of beauty and cosmetic surgery, considering the side effects of surgery and rapid changes of beauty standards. I have since accepted the way I look more. I currently don't have the need to get anything done and have started to appreciate every single one of my features. Thank you and I really hope more people find your videos to be inspiring and helpful!
Thank you, Stephanie. It's shocking how cosmetic lip fillers are marketed. Thin lips are not a problem and the risks associated with the filler ingredients are just not worth it.
A part of me can't wait to see the comments sections filled with comments like the one below: "I got made fun of for my super thin lips, but now everyones getting expensive lip reduction surgeries 😘😜Love my beautiful and all natural lips. I keep getting asked where I got them done but they're all me lol. I'm so thankful for my heritage, peace and love!!" People will take the chance to brag about themselves whenever their features are currently in-style (big lips, certain eye shapes, eyebrows, body type being super skinny, body type being thicc, their hair style, etc)
@@Olia-ch-ka As it always happens lol. I have a naturally big upper lip and some people thought I got fillers 😂 The urge to brag was there but I know this is nothing but a fad and soon my lips would probably be "outdated', imagine that.
@@ShreeNation Yeah, haha. I completely understand the urge people have to brag, especially since beauty is often associated with morality. I really hope that one day, society will put less value on physical looks and more value on people actions and loving hearts. ❤
I've said it before but I have to say it again - I'm so freaking happy I didn't fall for this trend. I remember being so insecure when the filler trend started like 8 years ago and kept dreaming of when I can get plump lips. My lips aren't even that thin, just normal. I remember totally falling for the lie that they can completely dissolve with no side effects. Then I became confused when I saw people who claimed to stop getting lip filler years ago and their lips still looked weird. It just goes to show that when there is a new trend we can't just trust everyone knows all the side effects immediately.
Being cautious about new trends is probably wise. You just don't know the long-term effects of something when it's brand-new. Hell, radium was touted as a cure-all in the early 1900s.
I've always wanted to get botox and get my lips done, but since I started watching your videos about a year ago I've realised how gorgeous and individual people's natural features are, and how silly it is to get procedures or surgery for a trend! Thank you so much, my natural lips and smile lines are very grateful 💛
hi! just a little heads up, the surgery from the pictures at 10:18 isn’t lip reduction surgery, it’s heart shaped lip surgery in thailand. it’s another toxic beauty standard made so ppl deform their bodies, just a different standard in a different region 😬
Thin lips are so beautiful I never understood why women would feel so bad about them. I used to watch many women on tv who had thin lips and they were thought of as the most beautiful. And a sharp red lip looked good on them too. But people keep taking the wrong examples to heart and in the mirror they no longer see how huge and uneven their lips are. You barely see anyone with non bumpy lips in hollywood anymore.
I think one of my biggest issues with these procedures is that women are all kind of starting to look the same. It’s weird. I think individuality and uniqueness are really beautiful, personally.
I AGREE!!!!! Everyone gets the same nose, lips and body…
Absolutely agree, like barbies of a conveyer belt in a store.. all the same... xx
I notice that everyone getting a rhinoplasty has the same nose
Dw, us broke people will always be unique
I swear i can't even differentiate 90% of influencers all over the internet. All have same lips and nose and i wonder why I don't have that nose? 50% of them look like Ariana Grande now.
The fact people think that Kylie lips were real is still so mind boggling people were really online arguing that it was lip liner
Thank you for the jam packed slide show! So many beautiful examples
@@SocialExperiment232which now simply vanished cause skinny is back in
@@angevin6679 Agreed!

That’s funny bc I’m naturally tan/olive toned and I was obsessed with trying to breach my skin as a kid…
The universal sign of beauty is clear skin. Glow no matter what shade you were born with. ✨
I think trump must use spray tan as he often looks orangey in the press photo.

The science of body/ facial features was the most interesting part!! And the rest of the info was excellent as well. Thanks.
👏🏼
Completely agree, especially when what they claim they're doing "for themselves" just so happens to conform to the male gaze / over sexualization of women's features.
Yeah the whole "you do you" bs lets people off the hook way too easily. These people aren't just "doing them", they're perpetuating these toxic beauty standards.

I would bet fifty dollars, right now, that you're pretty.
IMO it also depends if people are conservative with the amount & if their goal is to make proportional. Like a few millimeters is enough.
But just like boob envy, lip envy, is if its good, I gotta get more, extra.
If you did it twice you probably have at least 1 to 2 ml. That's enough sis don't overfill, don't get to 3-5ml

They’re so easily impressionable and influenced. A lot of celebs are not treated very well despite them being rich. Wealth doesn’t necessarily equal health.
Not having the money for these procedures is actually protection.
My partner would never let that slide!

@@sickickick this makes total sense.

I was thinking of getting some for assymetry but I changed my mind too risky

One day there will be a "thin lips" trend, mark my words.
A part of me can't wait to see the comments sections filled with comments like the one below:
"I got made fun of for my super thin lips, but now everyones getting expensive lip reduction surgeries 😘😜Love my beautiful and all natural lips. I keep getting asked where I got them done but they're all me lol. I'm so thankful for my heritage, peace and love!!"
People will take the chance to brag about themselves whenever their features are currently in-style (big lips, certain eye shapes, eyebrows, body type being super skinny, body type being thicc, their hair style, etc)
@@Olia-ch-ka i like your way of thinking 🖤 I hope so too ✌
Yes it will so they can also make moneh from dissloving filers 😂😂😂😂 and stupid people will continues to follow 😂😂😂😂
you helped me a lot with your videos and thank you for that, I never thought I would be insecure about my looks
I always say " I love my thin lips!" , really guys, whatever size / form you have. They Are Beautiful ❤
hi! just a little heads up, the surgery from the pictures at 10:18 isn’t lip reduction surgery, it’s heart shaped lip surgery in thailand. it’s another toxic beauty standard made so ppl deform their bodies, just a different standard in a different region 😬
