Would never. It is a literal neurotoxin. People can make their own choices but if someone I loved wanted botox I would probably develop second hand anxiety for them.😅
I love how it does reduce wrinkles and what not and how it makes my face look. But I don’t love the thought of it being a toxin and having to pay for something temporary & possibly face side affects… it’s not just natural. It’s really just not worth it. Better to invest in good skincare and age with grace. I really did LOVE Botox. But, I started asking myself what the heck am I trying to prove? That I’m not aging? Am I doing it for other people? If no is the answer, then okay that’s good. But for me, it wasn’t.
I never had botox. 😁 I'm happy how I look and it is enough when many people compliment on my smile. Yes I smile most of the time haha, just a happy woman I'm. 😜 It does scare me and I love saving money for traveling. 🤭 Botox, no love no hate but not interested. 😃
Audrey Hepburn was notoriously against any plastic surgery & I remember reading a quote where she said "i EARNED these wrinkles" so that became my philosophy. If i have forehead lines at 20, I've had a surprising life so far, and im glad my face reflects that!
That's good to hear. I love lines on people's faces, but I'm 27 and already have lines in my forehead for a while now. Which I think is kinda early. But never thought to think like you did.. it helps, thanks :)
Anna Magnani, famous Italian actress, would say something quite similar to her make up artist: "don't hide my wrinkles, it took me a lifetime to get them"
Oh girl, I have never noticed the bunny nose thing until you pointed it out. That’s one more reason for me to not waste my money on Botox. I love my skin care routine. Retinol, SPF, and all those other wonderful things truly make a huge difference. I look younger now at 34 than I did at 24. I have also quit smoking cigarettes since then and broke up with my toxic ex so I’m sure that’s helping everything as well.
this video is so necessary! people have become too obsessed with looks and are willing to overlook very dangerous possible consequences. and to be quite honest, fillers and botox in excess make people look uglier than they would with no work done. aging is a privilege of the living, and we should start wearing our wrinkles with pride! they tell the stories of our lives ❤
All to impress or to get/keep a guy. Honestly it's not worth it if that's what it takes to keep such a guy. Better learn to live alone. Instead spend that money on things you like to do like travel, eat etc
This is the best explanation ive seen thus far regarding problems with botox side effects and botox culture. I worked in a cosmetic derm office for over 5 years and can second this information.
I appreciate that. I make a lot of expressions and I’ve noticed a huge smile line from my nose to my lips. I don’t see it in my mom so it’s been pretty insecure about it because I’m only 23
My 18 year old cousin was telling me about all the procedures her friends get, botox, lip fillers, cheek fillers, and I was in shock for the rest of the night. An 18 year old should not be getting botox!!! It's sad.
Text her one of Stephanie's videos, just say she's done it and says the risks. Just so you, friends know cause doctors lie, and never tell you all the risk
Don’t be afraid of wrinkles. Having bright skin, clear eyes, and a few wrinkles is better than the dead looking mannequin face. Eat healthy and drink your water. That’s how you shine at any age!
My problem with cosmetic Botox and fillers is the odd movement of the face (like “bunny nose”) in conversations in real life. I’ve also seen friends get odd cheek dimples after lip filler. Im sure it makes you look better for still photography, but it’s a bit weird interacting with people in real life
I decided against botox for good (I'm 33 and I've never had it) when I noticed body language experts talking about face lines as a way to express emotions. When certain lines are NOT showing during displays of emotion, then that might be interpreted as deceptive by those watching them. I already worry about being misinterpreted when I speak as it is and I realised that neuromodulators could potentially lead to people thinking I'm lying or being inauthentic. No thanks!
As a therapist and someone who as a pretty expressive face, I won't do Botox it for those exact reasons. I am convince it would interfere with my work, as mirroring emotions (and other type of non-verbal interactions) is so fondamental in establishing and living an intimacy bond....
Yesss. Just came to my mind that it could possibly really affect you when you're trying to make new connections- for example in dating! We don't need anything more that is messing us up our already difficult/sometimes messed up dating culture!! Could be really damaging😬
it’s interesting u say that because whenever there is a person who gets over done botox i get bad vibes from them. i can’t help it but like you said it’s natural. they cannot move and express in a human way so i naturally distrust them and feel weird interacting with them. feels like a robot. again no disrespect or shade to those people i’m sure they don’t even realize 😢
All the kardashians look scary without filters. Everybody talks about how Kendall is the best looking but you guys should see her without filters. The jenners are nothing without photoshop
As someone who's mid 30's now, i still get asked if I'm early 20's. Always wore sunscreen, never tanned and dont touch Botox. I think all of these "youthful" procedures end up aging people drastically. Love your videos Stephanie! ❤
I am 35 and still get carded 😂 I always tan and never wear sunscreen (I am at least ¼ native to be fair), and for the person that asked about weight, I used to be 100 lbs overweight, but have been at a healthy weight for about 5 years now. I don't have a good skincare regimen, but I do eat tons of fruits and veggies. I also fully believe that I will age well. The mind and beliefs are powerful, y'all. Think of the placebo effect, if ya don't believe the mind can do great things. 😉
@rae5757 They're asking because when you're overweight the extra fat prevents wrinkles. Not having enough fat in your face is a cause of wrinkles. For example, when women get older they have less estrogen, which causes fat loss in the face = wrinkles.
@@saltypea33Yep. I'm aging worse than my mom because she was overweight in her 20s-40s and I've stayed at a slim weight. She's 51 and I'm 34. She looks younger than I do. It's wild.
This video needs to be shown at schools! I just learnt so much! As a 30 yr old who is beginning to get a few wrinkles, it’s weird and takes getting used to but like Julia Roberts said, I want my face to tell a story. And I also don’t want to inject crazy toxins in me either for a shiny forehead 😂
I appreciate this as I have stopped getting Botox for many reasons as well. It is expensive and upkeep becomes more frequent so does the spending. Also unintended side effects as well as reactions (which started me on the journey of no longer getting it) also I began to look to weird and frozen- very delusional, dysmorphic self image of myself began shaping and increasing. I actually think you look a million times better without Botox. Your wrinkles are perfect and I love the expression. Wrinkles are normal and it’s amazing what simple face care routine, sunscreen and retinoids/retinols will do to help revitalize and antiage the skin. This video was well put together and beautifully done. Best I’ve seen on this subject👏
I love seeing the lines in someone’s face that shows where they’ve smiled, laughed, cried etc. Its beautiful. Those are the very things that make us human. Why would we wanna cover that up? Just to look 20 again? Can’t speak for everyone, but my early twenties were spent being dumb, poorly fed, and broke. Not exactly a time in my life I’m itching to get back to.
in my opinion it’s due to this insta social media phenomenon hopefully everybody can realize they’re beauties just the way they are ❤ botox or none but i believe doing it so young is sad
i just gained so much more respect for you when you put in that past clip of yourself which shows not only growth but self-awareness. thank you for being honest on a platform that is usually not
Regardless of your opinion on the topic, HUGE respect to Stephanie for the growth in maturity and self-awareness to not only change her mind on a topic but then call her self out in such an open and public way! ♥♥♥It's amazing to see how your life has progressed and changed from the "egg brush" days and the real reason I have and will continue to watch your content☺❤
wow thank you so much for this video, i am 27 and i was going to get botox next month i was planning on getting it when i reach 25 .first time hearing about all the side effects that you said in the video clinic always promote botox as 100% safe. again thank you
I work in the youth-obsessed field of tech in my 50s. I had it done twice. The second time, I had weird tingling in my wrists and ankles for weeks. It freaked me out beyond reason. As much as I loved the results, I think that cured me of doing it ever again. And this was done at a derm - no way would I have anyone but an MD do this.
I also read about a study where they found a link between getting cosmetic botox and a decreased ability to recognise emotions in oneself. So our facial expressions are an important marker of our own feelings, too, which I find fascinating. Also, expressiveness and liveliness are a huge factor in attrectiveness, so botox takes away from that, too.
Yeah! That's very true. They teach us in psychology (I had a specific course called "emotions and motivations" in my degree), that expressions are also giving us clues about how we feel, as much as how we feel affects our expression.. it goes both way!
Instant subscribe!!! Thank you for shedding light on such an important topic. It seems people don't realize the severity or the implied possible side effects of such cometic procedures... we see it everywhere, the normalization and glamorazation of botox like it's nothing and honestly makes me a little mad as I believe it perpetuates the idea that geting older (or simply having a few wrincles) isn't beautiful, when there are plenty of things that are about aging and just being "au naturel".
Love this! I think it’s a privilege to get to age, not everyone does. The only thing is I was waiting for you to talk about the droopy eyes a lot of people seem to get when they use Botox constantly. It’s a telltale frozen forehead and the outer corners of the eyes start to turn down, because Botox can’t stop gravity. I think this is a big reason for all these foxy eye lifts too
As a 50 year old woman that thought she needed Botox back when I was in my early 40’s, I decided to try it. Here’s how it went: first time, my eye brow drooped and one eye looked bigger than the other plus a constant mega migraine the entire time it was in my system. Years passed I decided let me try it again, maybe this time is different. One eye looked like Spock (look him up young ones) the other eye smaller than the other and constant migraine headache day and night the entire time it was in my system. Years went by again and said third time is a charm right? Same reaction, funny looking eyes with such intense banging headaches that I literally could no longer function in life!!! That’s where it ended for me and I said “ I love and accept myself” never looked back and now I look better and younger than ever ❤ trust your body listen to its signals and learn to accept yourself just the way your creator made you, perfectly imperfect ❤❤❤❤❤❤
I'm happy you've acepted yourself. My sister gts Botox for her migraines, i think it ought to be treated as medication. I've never tried it, don't want it. I'm ok with my face at 56.
thank you for this video ! i love honest conversations like these because the internet can be such a place of make believe. honestly it's all so confusing to me because i'm terrified of needles and blood, so all of those cosmetic works and surgeries basically terrify me. i also don't want any bad side effect to happen, i don't like how it looks on a day to day basis, i also don't want to erase my heritage because i'm proud of my lineage. But also there are things about my face i just have a hard time with. so it's all just so confusing
Thank you so much for this video! There are risks involved with botox, which is generally seen as being very safe and effective. Whenever I mention these potential adverse effects in the 30s + skincare subreddit I get so many clap backs! People do not want to accept this, but I think it’s better to make an INFORMED decision rather than crossing your fingers and hoping for the best. This is your face, for crying out loud. I care a lot about educating myself when it comes to cosmetic procedures because I had a really bad reaction to a lip blush tattoo that thankfully resolved, but I had no idea that something like that could even happen from a procedure that was advertised as being hypoallergenic, safe and temporary.
We got a lot of folks in from LA (including celebrities) at my old work, and I always just thought they were vapid/emotionally detached. But your video made me reconsider that maybe it's just the Botox causing lack of expression. I'm going to have to reevaluate when I make that assumption going forward.
I got several rounds of Botox in my early 20's for chronic migraines. It did help initially (I had not yet formed many wrinkles!) But, I stopped getting them because the muscles in my neck and shoulders had gotten so weak I could hardly hold my head up! I had gotten the injections in my face and neck/shoulders, but now that they say it could migrate I thought I would share my story.
This is good to hear. I get migraines and have always been very curious about using Botox for them. Thanks for sharing what happened to you. I don’t think I’ll use it for my migraines then
@@xxxEmstarxxx Nothing works for me. I resigned to just take ibuprofen at the very first signals that a neuralgia or a migraine may be about to "bloom", and it helps most of the times, but if I miss that "window" I'll be still getting the entire 7+ days of pain, nerve pulsating, twitching and shit.
Please, please, please be careful if you have an egg allergy. My daughter was due to have botox for her migraines. While we were at the hospital, I asked the nurse who was about to inject her, if botox was grown on egg protein (as my daughter is highly allergic to eggs), and apparently, it is. Had I not asked, she'd have gone into anaphylactic shock.
We are vegan. However, when it comes to medicine, we will take it if it is safe to do so. One's ethics sometimes have to take a backseat to one's health.
Thank you so much for making these videos. You don't know how much these help me. I feel like esp when I am on Instagram, or UA-cam or TikTok or watching celebrities documentaries and so on I start to feel insecure, fear aging and all of these are pushed by these brands and celebs as women empowerment and so on. But in reality I feel like these makes me just chase others, continue to please the masses by doing everything to stay young, stay relevant and so on (and not to mention what you explained how they will promote one beauty standard and then change it and the affect it has on us average people). But when I step away, and get reality check, and see the behind the scenes work by channels like these, and realize how much I don't know. And how much they influence me without me even knowing. So I always appreciate these videos and always think of it whenever aging fear starts to get me
52 here - no botox or fillers - would I like them to look younger... of course. But they scare the shit out of me. I'll rely on good make up and lots of sleep! Good on you for these videos Stephanie!
Re: Botox as a neurotoxin and its proximity to the brain, studies have looked into the impact of botox injections on (fully developed, adult) brains, and the articles I looked at were really interesting. A few studies have touched on the idea that those who get botox may have increased difficulty interpreting the emotions of others, but I feel that this may be more about socialization than physical brain damage. If you're getting botox, it's likely that other people in your life also have botox, which means that the facial expressions you're attempting to interpret on a daily basis are already stunted/flattened. Hopefully more studies are done in the future examining long-term effects of botox treatments. Anyways, fascinating topic!
I mean, the brain is protected by the thickest, strongest bone in the body, muscles and at least 2 centimeters of derma, the botox ain't getting into the brain lmao It doesn't even migrate around, since it's just a toxin injected in specific areas and stays there as decades of studies have proven(botox is used in neurology, to lessen some muscle problems and even stop teeth grinding). So I don't believe for a second that it causes brain damage if injected on your forehead, surgeon need to try a lobotomy to actually get into your brain lol It's still probably not good to get LOADS of botox, very frequently, it's never good to exaggerate.
That’s interesting because Kim is trying so hard to be expressive in AHS but mostly she can just open her eyes wide and look serious. She’s not bad in the show but it explains what I couldn’t put my finger on.
I’m SO glad you came to your senses…especially when you have a healthy following. It’s very sad seeing the state of “beauty standards” these days. We’ve gone from wearing corsets…to plastic surgery. It’s scary! 🤯
1:54 its amazing how far you’ve come, because man that must feel kinda weird to hear now. I just turned 28 and I may make the old jokes sometimes but I am so young, I have so much life to live. Hell my mom is almost 60 and it’s completely changed what 60 means to me, she’s so alive and vibrant and expressive and beautiful ❤❤❤
This is such an important video you made Steph, really!! Wow I didn't know a lot about this. I knew it was a neurotoxin, the same that causes botulism I believe, but I never realised the consequences over time like muscle atrophy and the thing possibly spreading to other nerves where it wasn't injected. I'm 39 and personally I've never been interested in intrusive anti-aging procedures because they make me squeamish and I'd worry if I'd like the results, if the doctors know what they're doing, if it turns out bad and it's permanent and I no longer recognize myself in the mirror, stuff like that... But like you said this really has become a concerning trend so it's important that people know what they're possibly signing up for.
"Im 27 by the way. I'm not a young person. I'm almost 30." Haha as a 27 year old, I'm guilty of saying this and people laugh😅 I'm sure it's like when a teenager says they're not a kid anymore😂
I’m turning 52 on Saturday. You are young, enjoy every damn second of it. One day before you know, you will e 50! I don’t feel super old and I look late 30s. But 50 is not 27!
Thank you for these videos 💖 It's not only educational to learn about plastic surgery (which is surrounded by misinformation) but also super encouraging for young people like me to NOT follow these dangerous trends because you feel the social pressure of aging 😓
I love love LOVE that you made this video because im 14 and it is SO good to know this and to be aware of this in this generation. Thank you for making this video honestly❤
I’m 38. People like my face or they don’t - point blank. The equation I use to determine my self-worth does not include the opinion of the ever changeable masses. Self love - all the way baby!
Stephanie, I'm from the Netherlands and I really LOVE to watch your videos because you really helped me to finally realize that nothing is more beautiful than NATURAL BEAUTY!!😍😍 Your content really motivates me to don't go to the clinics!!💉
Thank you for making these videos, it's a great reality check. So many people aim to look like instagram filters without ACTUALLY thinking about possible side effects and long term effects it's scary.
I’ll be 44 on Sunday and have never used Botox. I was “fortunate” enough to have a super greasy face most of my life and it’s kept the wrinkles at bay. I certainly didn’t feel very fortunate with all that grease while I was going thru it, but I do now! 😂
I wanted to try it for years but held back. I decided to wait and learn about the long term effects through other’s experience with this toxin. Your video just confirmed to me what I suspected all along, that injecting chemicals in your skin is never a healthy thing to do. The adverse ramifications are scary and I will continue to pass on botox.
great video Stephanie! thanks for bringing awareness to this side of botox. more people need to be talking about what it actually is and does, and what the side effects may entail.
Thanks so much for bringing this to our attention. We need to be fully aware of the risks. I've been getting botox once a year but now probably won't be getting it again!
thank u for doing these Stephanie, i’ve thought about getting my lips done even though i’ve always been complimented on them they’re my favorite feature but seeing everyone else’s lips is making me feel a bit left out like maybe they are not big enough. but these videos really help people who feel this way in my opinion. love ur guts 💗
Thank you, I really needed this, especially since I'm becoming a primary school teacher and facial expressions are so important for social interaction. Still a little insecure about my forehead wrinkles though..
Autistic person here. As someone who regularly gets the problem of ‘I can’t move my face as much as I want to’ (flat affect feels like muscle freezing), I genuinely am not sure why someone would want to risk being unable to move their face in line with their emotions, as it feels so much harder to even feel emotions, let alone communicate, in that state! Botox for medical issues is a good thing, and if people want cosmetic treatments, go for it, but at the same time, it’s crucial to be aware of the ways it can affect day-to-day life. Once communication is harder, relationships of all kinds are harder, and the very beauty we’re trying to pursue ends up isolating us.
Thank you for bringing awareness to this epidemic. I won't do botox because of muscle atrophy, however, there are many occurrences of hearing laughing from expressionless faces at my kid's back to school night. I would rather have wrinkles. To each their own. I wonder if the frozen Botox face will become a normal standard of beauty rather than having expression filled faces.
I'm 39 and have never used Botox (or fillers or any professional treatment). In my mid-20s I decided I would go the natural route to maintain my looks. Changed my diet, prioritized exercise, sleep, stress management and gut health, started a skincare routine with things like cupping, massage, microneedling, etc. By 30 my mom had noticeable wrinkles between her eyes and on her forehead. I have none. As I enter my 40s I may decide to do additional treatments, I don't know yet. But I'm a firm believer that your outer beauty and vitality is a good reflection of what's going on internally. And, of course, we're all going to age, there's just no getting around it. You do your best and let go of the rest.
That's great.. these celebs getting facial paralysis. Capitalists making money out of people who are manipulated easily. South koreana, for an example, have gone nuts!! You must accept ageing. Mentally investing soo much in outer beauty leads to various psychological and physical diseases
@@EmyN it’s the subtle putting down of her own mother. “By age 30 she had wrinkles…” Yeah. So what? It’s still youth-obsessed. I am 30 and have wrinkles. Am I less pure? Is my outside “reflecting what’s going on internally” as she so helpfully put it? Or am I a normal person who is different, just like she is, with her own sh*t going on?
You know I never noticed because she’s adorable as she can be but even stormi imitates crinkling her nose when she’s happy I just never noticed because it was so cute lol
I am in my mid twenties now starting to get very minute wrinkles and I am so glad to see your video. I am so glad to be aging just as a normal person should. This brings so much positivity to my confidence to know people are really focusing on not making wrinkles a big issue and especially the side effect of "toxic beauty standards" is being highlighted. I think we as women suffer a lot because of certain beauty standards. Aging shouldn't be one of them.
As someone who really likes strength training, I cannot wrap my head around deliberately killing off muscles. Also, I find it very useful that a simple frown can be enough to make someone annoying back off...
Botox = no face movement = disconnected face to brain communication Your brain actually needs your face movements to stay „alive“. It happened to a friend of my mum. She was a vibrant women now she is a depressed, unable to work anymore shadow of her former self. She quit Botox after years of using it, hoping she will be better at some point. I’d rather have wrinkles than being clinically depressed.
I'm 45, always looked after my skin, never smoked, avoided sun etc. I have wrinkles around my eyes and I love them! I've earned them. Every bout of laughter, every tear shed. These lines tell the story of my life.
Pausing at 2:15, I definitely like your face better now. I have extremely sensitive mirror neurons and it creeps me out when people's faces are frozeen. Like, ya, you look like a beautiful marble statue, but you also don't register as human to my senses any more. I crave that connection because I'm so used to it. When it's not there it feels like something is off and my gut tells me not to trust that person.
I think people should realize that we all age and that's not a bad thing. We don't have to look young and stay young for the rest of our lives. Anyways, love your vids Stephanie. Keep it up💜
This is a very serious topic, speacially because it can affect the "mother - baby" connection and that is SO CRUCIAL to us as people and society. This has to be addressed more and more, we need to be enlightened by the dangers and side effects of these procedures. We as a human species depend on bonds and emotions to live as a comunity.
I had botox in my forehead done one time and I found that it impacted on my mood. I believe the fact that I couldn't make the expressions that would go with what I was feeling, dampened my feelings. I found it scary and never did it again.
I have gotten botox or dysport a few times since I turned 35. I hate it. I have hooded eyes and no matter what type of toxin I've used and how few units, I always have my brow lowered when I've gotten it. After about 4 or 5 weeks the heaviness does alleviate, but I hate how I look when my brows lower. The worst part is, there is nothing you can do if this happens but wait until it wears off. I'm starting to really focus on other things like red light, microchanneling and skin care instead of the neurotoxin route. I don't think enough injectors focus on if it is right for the individual and how it will affect their anatomy. It is not right for everyone.
Im 26 and feel super old despite not looking my age. It was surprising to see the comments saying 27 is young. It made me think about how badly the internet standards affected us growing up
Everything in moderation! Of course that seems to be hard for people these days. I appreciate you giving a perspective on being cautious about Botox (obviously not abusing it and getting it way too young and finding a qualified person). But I don't believe in demonizing it either, or judging people for getting it. People have their reasons. I am 44 and got it for the first time when I was 37, after extensive research and putting thought into this for a year before making my decision. I did it because years prior I, as a mother, took care of my then young daughter who had cancer twice in a span of 4 years. After years of sorrow and stress, I looked at myself and did not recognize myself in the mirror. I wanted to feel better so I did it. I have it in moderation and only on my "Elevens" once or twice tops a year. I don't regret it for one minute! I wish for people to be absolutely cautious but also to stop judging others if they decide to get it or not.
Not a fan of Botox or fillers at all. I don’t think it’s necessary & I love myself enough to welcome getting older with wrinkles & smile lines included. I’m 27 & it’s so crazy to hear people younger than myself getting it to “avoid getting wrinkles when you’re older.” Like, that’s just INSANE to me. I think older women that age naturally look sooo much better than women who fill themselves up w Botox. They start to look a little weird because they’ve been doing it for such a long period that it starts migrating & forming little dents or bumps on the skin.
Here's the thing... I think Botox is fine, & I get it done. But it can DEFINITELY be over-done. Also, getting it done @ a "Botox party" just sounds crazy to me. I get it done by a Nurse Practitioner who I know & trust, & she knows that I want a more natural look, so I definitely can still move my face & make all the expressions I need to make.
I'd have to do a lot of research on whoever I was gonna get it from if I ever did get it. I can't imagine getting it at a botox party, either 😂 that's scary
Thank you for this comment because I get it those and I told my nurse practitioner that I didn’t what to be frozen so I still have movement however I agree that people should be informed of what they are getting injected to make an educated decision. If it’s over done I’m sure that can cause issues down the line .
This is not meant to be a criticism at all, so please don't take it that way, but I am curious: do the potential side effects from prolonged use make you nervous at all? Or the ingredients, which are literal toxins, do they make you nervous? To me, it seems like little reward for major risks, but I'd love to get the perspective of someone who gets it done.
@alissamutton3059 Oh, no offense taken. Botox has been in use since ~1982- & based on the research I've done, there just aren't a lot of adverse events associated with it, if done by a responsible, well-trained practitioner. Personally, I started getting Botox because I used to grind my teeth in my sleep, to the point of doing tooth damage & giving myself chronic migraines from all the tension in my jaw, head & neck muscles. So I started off getting it for a medical reason (for which it works beautifully, by the way- I get full relief from the grinding & migraines for 5-6 months after getting the Botox injections in my jaw muscles!). But after awhile I was noticing that I was getting 3 horizontal lines in my forehead, & everyone kept asking me why I was angry or upset, when I wasn't. So then I started getting Botox in my forehead, as well. It also works incredibly well, to smooth those lines & make me not look like I'm upset, 24/7. Now, that said- I would only get Botox from a licensed medical practitioner (so, not a hair salon or day spa), whose work I have seen & trust.
Another interesting point… Empirical data indicates that people with Botox overtime experience a weakening in their ability to read other peoples emotions via their facial expressions… In other words, the more and longer you use Botox the more likely you are to start to lose your ability to read the intricacies of other peoples facial expressions… Which is super interesting, because this data tells us that our abilities to make and mimic facial expressions are linked to our abilities to read and interpret others expressions.

Your expressions effect your brain chemistry. it is a communication device. Your expressions GIVE you emotions. Here you go, have been saying this for years. But, wow this baby thing never occurred to me. I thought of the mirror neurons though. Ex: your company has a emotion they create a expression you naturally mirror those expressions and 'feel' what they are feeling ◇◇◇◇◇ (Hey, factoid: if you smile for 20 minutes str8 it acts on your brain like a opiate - those with botox are robbing themselves of some deep levels of humanity - and, they are 'paying for it'. )
I honestly thought the little nose wrinkle was cute at first. But now it feels kind of dark and sad that it's only there because the person is struggling to show joy in the rest of their face. I was literally going to get botox next week for the first time (I'm 26 and people are always surprised that I'm not younger so what am i even thinking), and now I am going to call it off for a while. I have always gotten compliments on my smile and being told that the happiness in my face is contagious. Its honestly really sad and spooky to think of "signing your soul away" in the hopes of preventing wrinkles
I (47) have Botox for my '11s' frown lines, without it I look tired and angry. I also have hooded eyes and it lifts them slightly so I can see better. It took a few tries to find someone really good, so if you don't like the result go somewhere else. It has a place and is fantastic if you genuinely feel you need it. ETA: my clinician is a fully qualified medical nurse, in a licensed clinic, who has regular in-person education from cosmetic surgeons. You get what you pay for.
Can I ask at what age you started getting Botox? I’m 32 and my 11 frown lines are slowly starting to come in and I’m considering Botox, at least down the line..
47 as well and I’ve been getting it done off and on since I’m 32. It’s the best and most dramatic thing I’ve done as part of my skincare/beauty regime. There is no amount of cream that will do what Botox does. I like the slight brow lift it gives and I like the texture of my skin. It’s great!
ok guys, gimme your thoughts on botox. love it? hate it?
Hate it. Scary to be injecting toxins in my face.
I'm happy how I look and it is enough when many people compliment on my smile. Yes I smile most of the time haha, just a happy woman I'm. 😜
It does scare me and I love saving money for traveling. 🤭
Botox, no love no hate but not interested. 😃
IMO, botox is only good for medical reasons like migraine from scalp muscle tension
Audrey Hepburn was notoriously against any plastic surgery & I remember reading a quote where she said "i EARNED these wrinkles" so that became my philosophy. If i have forehead lines at 20, I've had a surprising life so far, and im glad my face reflects that!
I love this so much
That's a good saying to live by!!
That's good to hear. I love lines on people's faces, but I'm 27 and already have lines in my forehead for a while now. Which I think is kinda early. But never thought to think like you did.. it helps, thanks :)
That's absolutely lovely and so right!❤❤
Anna Magnani, famous Italian actress, would say something quite similar to her make up artist: "don't hide my wrinkles, it took me a lifetime to get them"
"I'm not a young person. I'm 27" I used to say this all the time when I was 27. Now I'm 37 and honestly think it's hilarious
Listen, I'm 18 and it just sounds SO jarring. Like, actual mental maturity comes at 25, she was only 2 years older than that!!
I'm 27, and even I had a "Hold up. Can we rewind the tape?" moment.
this is reassuring at 25!
Then at 47 you’ll laugh at your 37 year d self and at 57 you’ll laugh at your 47 year old self! 😂
I started thinking it at 24 lol
Oh girl, I have never noticed the bunny nose thing until you pointed it out. That’s one more reason for me to not waste my money on Botox. I love my skin care routine. Retinol, SPF, and all those other wonderful things truly make a huge difference. I look younger now at 34 than I did at 24. I have also quit smoking cigarettes since then and broke up with my toxic ex so I’m sure that’s helping everything as well.
Girl I am the same age as you! I also use loads of skincare and look younger than I did in my twenties!
Bunny nose could be a natural thing for some people. No botox needed.
I’ve always noticed it but never understood how filler and Botox could cause nostrils to do that until now
I actually find the bunny nose kind of cute, but I feel the same way about "crow's feet." I don't know why. I just find some wrinkles cute, I guess. 😄
@@saakawithaGyes could be, but when the rest of their face has 0 lines, it is most likely botox. Look at Merideth Duxburry, same thing.
this video is so necessary! people have become too obsessed with looks and are willing to overlook very dangerous possible consequences. and to be quite honest, fillers and botox in excess make people look uglier than they would with no work done. aging is a privilege of the living, and we should start wearing our wrinkles with pride! they tell the stories of our lives ❤

I’m one of the few people that think people look weird without lines…it’s just how faces are meant to be🤷🏼♀️

I appreciate that. I make a lot of expressions and I’ve noticed a huge smile line from my nose to my lips. I don’t see it in my mom so it’s been pretty insecure about it because I’m only 23

Aww this is why the 18 year olds look older than 30 year olds now

My problem with cosmetic Botox and fillers is the odd movement of the face (like “bunny nose”) in conversations in real life. I’ve also seen friends get odd cheek dimples after lip filler. Im sure it makes you look better for still photography, but it’s a bit weird interacting with people in real life
What is bunny nose??
Edit: just got there. Oh my lord such a cute name for a strange face
@@エキセントリッok...
I’ve noticed that too. It’s like overlining your lips. It looks great in photos and crazy in real life.
I've seen plenty of Hollywood women with odd movements and scrunched up noses. It's weird
”Bunny nose” isn’t an ”odd movement of the face”. Some people have them naturally
I've never heard anyone else someone explain this topic so well. Thank you for the excellent and very informative video, Stephanie!
Could be really damaging😬
it’s interesting u say that because whenever there is a person who gets over done botox i get bad vibes from them. i can’t help it but like you said it’s natural. they cannot move and express in a human way so i naturally distrust them and feel weird interacting with them. feels like a robot. again no disrespect or shade to those people i’m sure they don’t even realize 😢
body language experts aren’t a thing anyway, so you’re good! ❤
Thats so insightful honestly. For me i personally feel like i neeeed botox, my face is way too expressive!! 😢😢😢
kyle jenner laughing is so scary omg....
Watching her laugh and talk is so weird. Her face was created for still photos and seeing it in motion gives away just how botched up it is.
She is already deep in Madonna territory. She looks like a lot of things, but unfortunately "young" is not one of them.
All the kardashians look scary without filters. Everybody talks about how Kendall is the best looking but you guys should see her without filters. The jenners are nothing without photoshop
Smiling too. She only looks good for the sexy pout for photos
Lol she really is so weird
As someone who's mid 30's now, i still get asked if I'm early 20's. Always wore sunscreen, never tanned and dont touch Botox. I think all of these "youthful" procedures end up aging people drastically.
Love your videos Stephanie! ❤
Have you ever been overweight?
@@pyromaniac709 I am currently a bit chunky but I've never been severely overweight. Why is that may I ask?
Shiny forehead! Haha true true!
Yes- the tell-tale sign of Botox for sure imo
julia roberts literally had work done lmfaoo her and her niece did 😂
Natural is so much easier. And prettier. I am going to die with the wrinkles I have earned.
Yes because botox hasn't been villainized enough in the past century
Thank you ❤❤❤

@@toxicemotions2888 just didn’t last. Had to almost immediately go pay to have it redone. So sad.
I love how open you are about this and u look better now than u did back then.
That's crazy, I've heard that Botox actually helps with migraines for some people. Everyone has such varied reactions to it.
perhaps botox just isn't for you.

@AE-yp8ty that's placed in different areas though for that
I'm happy you've acepted yourself.
I really admire your honesty stephanie. You empower so many people in a healthy, natural way! Bless you ❤😊
Thank you so much for this video!
I don’t think I’ll use it for my migraines then
Have you found anything that has worked for your migraines? I also suffer and not sure what else to try
And I wonder why I feel humanity is lost.
I get Botox for my migraines too! I went from getting 15 migraines a month to about 3-5. It’s been helpful for me so far :)
Then botox would be no go for vegans, wouldn't it...
We are vegan. However, when it comes to medicine, we will take it if it is safe to do so. One's ethics sometimes have to take a backseat to one's health.
I think that's a very wise conclusion.@@moonbeammuse2767

Excellent point!!!
Oop, with how profitable this industry is, I’m sure there will be lobbying to prevent damaging studies coming out
I mean, the brain is protected by the thickest, strongest bone in the body, muscles and at least 2 centimeters of derma, the botox ain't getting into the brain lmao
It doesn't even migrate around, since it's just a toxin injected in specific areas and stays there as decades of studies have proven(botox is used in neurology, to lessen some muscle problems and even stop teeth grinding).
So I don't believe for a second that it causes brain damage if injected on your forehead, surgeon need to try a lobotomy to actually get into your brain lol
It's still probably not good to get LOADS of botox, very frequently, it's never good to exaggerate.
That’s interesting because Kim is trying so hard to be expressive in AHS but mostly she can just open her eyes wide and look serious. She’s not bad in the show but it explains what I couldn’t put my finger on.

You routinely do us a great service... Thank you.
great video Stephanie! thanks for bringing awareness to this side of botox. more people need to be talking about what it actually is and does, and what the side effects may entail.
Thanks so much for bringing this to our attention. We need to be fully aware of the risks. I've been getting botox once a year but now probably won't be getting it again!
Thank you Stephanie! I was just considering botox, this was really helpful for me to reconsider!

Lol not the person above calling you obsessive because you… started taking care of your health? 😂 we all should do that anyway regardless
@@EmyN Right? How dare I 😂 It's been working pretty well for me, I think I'll stick to this lifestyle.
@@sarajanewebster5321!!!
This new hair color is so flattering on you!
I laughed waaay too hard at you trying to figure out Kim/Kylie’s expressions 😂🤣 I can imagine that in a short skit, which makes me laugh more 😂🤣💀

Steph: ...are you chillin'?

As someone who really likes strength training, I cannot wrap my head around deliberately killing off muscles. Also, I find it very useful that a simple frown can be enough to make someone annoying back off...
Botox = no face movement = disconnected face to brain communication
Your brain actually needs your face movements to stay „alive“.
"I am 27 by the way, Im not a young person" - I'm sorry this made me laugh so hard)))) Turning 35 this year...
I’m turning 52 on Saturday. Happy birthday to you!
Thank you so much for making this video. I am in my late 30s and was seriously considering this without fully understanding all the negative affects!
Gosh! This saved me from getting it done as I plan to get botox on what so called ‘crow’s feet’
Thank youuuuu ❤
Thank you for bravely shedding light on the consequences of botox 🙏🏻🌸
this was super informative, especially the bunny nose thing
I think people should realize that we all age and that's not a bad thing. We don't have to look young and stay young for the rest of our lives. Anyways, love your vids Stephanie. Keep it up💜
I just love the way you approach this topic. You are so kind and informative and honest. 😘
I love you Stephanie thank you for helping us all so much 🙏
I thought about Botox for when I’m in my mid 40s but this scared me enough , thank you Steph!
I’m 32 and have seriously considered Botox as everyone and their mother in my circle has. Now Im not so sure. Thanks for the honesty ❤
Im 26 and feel super old despite not looking my age. It was surprising to see the comments saying 27 is young. It made me think about how badly the internet standards affected us growing up
27 is young
Wait another 10 years you may feel different then.
@@Adhara740why can't people not want botox and 37 years old is pretty young annual anyway
@@Adhara740 I’m sure I’ll feel exactly the same
Here's the thing...
Same ! I get more of a natural look done, I can still more my eyebrows and frown a little, I just don’t have the deep frown lines anymore
im glad this video exists. im been very self conscious lately and knowijg the side effects of botox is important to know. thank you. ❤
I’m 30 and did my first Botox last week. I’m so happy with the results, I’m feeling pretty natural and nobody realize I did, that’s the charm
I just wish we lived in a world where aging was seen as beautiful and not something to be feared
@@Silkeaux Some evidence exists... Granted, we are still learning and there is still plenty of work to be done; however, to say "no evidence exists" is patently false.

Your expressions effect your brain chemistry.
it is a communication device.
Your expressions GIVE you emotions.
Here you go, have been saying this for years.
But, wow this baby thing never occurred to me.
I thought of the mirror neurons though. Ex: your company has a emotion they create a expression you naturally mirror those expressions and 'feel' what they are feeling

(Hey, factoid: if you smile for 20 minutes str8 it acts on your brain like a opiate - those with botox are robbing themselves of some deep levels of humanity - and, they are 'paying for it'. )
you are so polite and so real for speaking this up. sending love and respect❤

It’s great!
