The Boss 302 is like a Honda s2000. Both can be tracked straight out the box. VERY little you need to do to these cars for the average driver to have fun.
I'm right there with you. I also have a '12 and when I first got it in '17 I headed for NJMP and learned the car. First on the original Pirellis which I ditched after 3rd track night. Trash. On went different wheels and the Michelins what a difference! Next step was lower control arms to control the terrible wheel hop under hard acceleration and wet roads with the factory arms. That is the extent of my money spending. Have to get back to the track. Has been too long.
I made the same mistake, I modified without knowledge and ended up destroying the top speed on the car, I could have paid for performance lessons, oh well live and learn 😂
Great video thanks! I drive a 2013 Laguna Seca (blk/silver). I’ve done one track day so far (at Laguna Seca 👍) and hope to do more once I’m retired (hopefully this year 🤞).
I'm thinking about getting a mustang with the duel duty in mind. Street/track im thinking of getting a s550 something from 2015-2018 gt. Any recommendations on what mustang i should get im looking under 30k
The 2015ish PP1 is a fantastic choice. The pp1 package is worth every penny over a regular GT. Brembos, cooling and diff. Also the roadside manners compared to a s197 is substantially better. Let me know if you have any questions. I have alot of laps logged in a 15 pp1. Fantastic cars
It’s like trying to touch up the Mona Lisa! That car really needs nothing. I hate you had to go through all that! Professional racer Billy Johnson told me personally, “The BOSS 302 is the best handling, solid axel sports car ever made.” He raced the BOSS 302 R with Roush. He also was the FORD development driver for the S550s… including the GT 500 and the new Ford GT …which he raced at Le Mans. Recently, he helped RTR with their suspension tuning! I met him through a friend with Roush years ago… and my friend wanted input on a ‘13 BOSS. He told me for him not to worry about the transmission shifter. My buddy purchased it , and he said he will never sell it…or modify anything, unless it needs a better shifter. He has the (gotta have it green) and loves it!
I think I'll just leave my 13 PW Boss alone. Perhaps an MGW shifter upgrade. Sunny day driver for me :-) At least you have a Boss bro, many can't find one now. Best of luck making it right again, for you. Cheers from Canada :-)
Enjoy your boss! Sometimes I’m glad my mod choices were bad. I probably wouldn’t be where I am with my current setup without that learning curve. Yet, hopefully I can save some folks from emptying their wallets
@@high_velocity_stangs I've modded mountain sleds, dirt bike, trucks ect, for over thirty years. Currently building an 85 GMC stepside lowrider. Cool thing about modding/wrenching is your mechanical aptitude and knowledge of physics increases with every new shiny part you buy. I know you've spent money, but what you've learned through the experience lasts a lifetime. You can't buy that! Our son is currently elbows deep in this process, lol. Cheers :-)

A 12:11 1/4 mile is awesome.
@@johnbrown4568 it did 11:92 a pass on a cool night in September.

15-17 performance pack premium. That's what I would do.

Yeah I’m a big fan of Billy. Followed him for years. His Road Atlanta race in a boss was epic.

You don't gotta be scared of modding man you can set them up very tastefully and add to what's already there which is alot.
Street driven Laguna. New Continentals on all four corners and tossed the old Pirellis. Old tires can be deadly.
I still have Pirellis but not sure they're stock. Speed rating is 186mph
Yeah Bosses were built for the track from factory. They even have a second key to use to do this.
Totally agree with you man
The boss is factory all set up
You don’t need to upgrade if youre keeping it stock engine
I would just do wheels and tires ..preferably sport cup2 and drop 1/4”…..that’s it
Wow it’s ruined now. I love it, I highly recommend nitto 555g2. Better than a Hoosier tire
Yeah, so many beginners start with way too much tire and don’t learn anything.
@@high_velocity_stangs I especially like them for their low handling and traction ability and all around bad tire qualities.
@@ManuaLibertyyea if you like something that breaks lose easy sure that's the tire to get lol.
Stay away for low hanging fruit. That's for birds and rats. Triple
