      I think it’s both an uptick in creeps and increase exposure, both because of the Internet. More and more people spend their time isolated in a room with most of their social interaction coming through a screen. This sort of environment is perfect for creating creeps in weirdos. Via the Internet, they’ve learned that they can act certain ways, and indulge in certain perverse desires that they absolutely couldn’t get away with if they did it in real life. You can get away with sending dick pics to random girls, but good luck getting away with flashing someone in public. Getting pictures of kids online is much easier than taking those pictures of random kids yourself. Etc. etc..

    I had to have my teeth done. They were a horror show: Loose, falling out, and it was traumatizing. I was thankful to have to wear a mask for almost two years for COVID as they were getting worse. I found a very kind Doctor who spoke to me in layman's terms, made my mother feel comfortable and when i got my appointment, the receptionist called me several times before the appointment , making sure i had everything i needed. The night before, the anesthesiologist called me, and told me what to expect. He said I would get a needle, go to sleep and wake up with teeth. And that's exactly what happened. And everyone, from the Doctor to the Nurses to the Medical Techs to the Receptionist gave me a hug and congratulated me. They even waited for my Lyft to come and pick me and my mom up, and called the next morning to tell me that my medication would be ready and what pharmacy would have it. It was an amazing experience, a far cry from this creep. Sorry for the lengthy post, I just feel bad for the women who went through this deplorable ordeal.

      So glad to hear this went well for you! I’m looking at getting a full set of implants at the end of this year or beginning of next year. I would cry if a dentist said the things this guy did…and I’ve had dental work done in the third world where they are…less discreet and cautious of patient’s feelings. 😆 But that didn’t compare to the shit Dr. TikTok said.
      It’s bad enough having teeth that are breaking off, and falling out. The good teeth I have left in front are slowly going south because I have been dependent on them to eat for the past few years. I’m sure I’m not telling you anything you don’t know already though. 🙂
      What he said to that plus sized lady? Oof. Awful. How absolutely egregious to come for someone’s looks when they’ve reached out to you for help and confided in you that they have low self-esteem as a result of their dental issues. • @impposter560
      @impposter560 Рік тому +100

      @@Bebe_Dee I actually think the lack of empathy has far less to do with lack of support and waaaay more to do with the medical field attracting the kind of people who enjoy having power over others/are narcissistic. Kind of like, sadly, cops. Nurses are hit or miss, women doctors are good on rare occasions, but I have literally NEVER had a wholly good experience with male doctors except for a single emergency doctor who deigned to actually listen to what I was saying only because I was in obvious distress. Its especially bad in America where doctors are rewarded for being morally bankrupt (pharmaceutical companies providing free vacations for 'conferences' or being rewarded for meeting a certain quota of prescribing their product, for example). Sorry for the rant, I just have Feelings about medical/police/anyone-in-power using mental health as an excuse for lacking basic human decency or even just professionalism

    • @MiniiCitrus
      @MiniiCitrus Рік тому +18

      @bibidfairy2691 I understand that. This field is rough. I've worked as a CNA and therapy assistant for 3 years and just started nursing school. Lack of MH resources is a reason for the lack of empathy but not an excuse for being terrible. Even on my crappiest days, I treat my patients with kindness and respect, it's the bare minimum for what I can do. A big problem with healthcare workers is that we don't take adequate care of ourselves, yet our physical and mental health is our own responsibility. It's usually not fair, but we HAVE to seek out the help and self care that we need or burnout and poor mental health can affect our care.
      With this guy though, I think he is just a power-hungry perv that got too comfortable being himself. He lacks empathy because he never had any to begin with.

And he doesn't stop and his friend is watching and he tells me that I needed to relax. I was scared and reactively laughed while trying to get my body to move and then he squeezed my shoulders and my body decided to move and I walked fast behind the counter and they decided to leave (thank gods) my boss came in and I told her what had happened and she watched the camera and decided to have me no longer on third and if I was then I had to have someone with me and she banned the guy from the store. @@sparksheart2110 yes I understood what you meant happened, I’ve seen way too many people get pissed like that towards horses, just never with a firearm. Especially those people who don’t know what they’re doing (but really think they do) and *insist* that “that damn horse” “is too stupid/stubborn/ornery/etc” to listen to anyone, and get themselves all worked up into a tizzy even though the problem is their own, not the horse’s. But every time I’ve seen someone get that level of pissed or have heard someone recounting that story, any abuse they inflicted was done by strong whip/reins/lead rope whipping, or unnecessary and super tight twitching out of spite, something along those lines. I’ve never heard of anyone dumb enough to get so angry at a *horse* that they pulled a gun on them in anger. That’s absolutely insane.
      I wasn’t saying that pointing a gun at your horse (or anyone else for that matter) was funny. I’m very familiar with guns/gun safety and would never find it funny to pull one like that, especially out of anger and like you said, with no intent to shoot, but just as an insane threat. My laugh was from being shocked and not expecting that sentence to end with “a horse,” because that’s so far beyond what I ever thought someone would think was a good move…even from the worst “horse people” I’ve known! I was agreeing that anyone who would do such a thing is abusive and sick, and absolutely shouldn’t be working anywhere near living creatures. He didn't think I would call him out, I updated my review to say everything that happened, including that my dentist thought it was ridiculous he wanted to take my teeth out and that I would take legal action... you bet he changed his tune and contacted me like a little scared punk. My teeth are straight, I have no disease, I literally just had a bone that got stuck in my tooth for too long and it gave me an infection... my actual dentist fixed my problem by extracting the bone and prescribing antibiotics. To have someone abuse their power under the guise of helping someone fix their teeth is horrifying. I get that some people might be socially awkward and struggle to understand what's appropriate vs what's not or even just accidentally make a stupid comment without thinking first(I once accidentally asked a patient with a feeding tube if they enjoyed their breakfast and it will haunt me forever), but even still, there's a giant difference between joking around with your patients and just outright picking on them. Maybe a tad off topic, but what is up with Gen Z trusting Tik Tok doctors?! I am not going to put my health into a dental or surgical influencer. They care more about those views that your health. Prime example is that tik tok plastic surgeon who ended up getting her medical license revoked. It’s one thing to advertise and engage thru social media but it’s a whole different beast when they let that little clout go to their heads.

    Fun fact, his bullying and lap-dancing antics would get him struck off in NZ for creating an unsafe environment for his patients and sexual transgression
    Edit- in fact in NZ this behaviour would be illegal from any health practitioner (not just a dentist)

    When I lived in the south, my friends and I would greet each other or at least signal that we see each other by flipping each other off. So I sorta grew up doing that, and when I moved out of the south and did it to my new friends, they were unamused to say the least.

    14:10 right. Will Smith was laughing at first too. 😂 We see how he felt.
    Anxious laughter isn't someone agreeing.

    I’ll give you the secret to shutting down body shaming, just say “ Your mom didn’t seem to mind last night” this works on so many levels for so many situations.

    this is actually scary… being in a vulnerable position like that with someone with access to anesthetics and meds… egads.

    Things like this are why I can understand when women prefer a female doctor. It’s no surprise to me when guys like this choose a career where the clients would be predominantly female. Are there any videos of him making the same kinds of jokes with male clients?

    I would hate this. I’m scared to go to the dentist because my teeth have always been … not the best. I floss and brush but the dentist says I have “soft” enamel and it takes a lot to keep them healthy. I had two dentists talk trash and try to charge me thousands of $ to fix them. I finally found a dr who was not disparaging and she was the only one I would see. I’m still scared of judgement and comments that make me feel like some kind of horrible person when I go to the dentist.

    As gross as this is… I’m not shocked about it coming from a dentist. I’ve had more than one dentist “joke” that I look too fat to possibly be having tooth pain, and almost all of them I’ve had to see are sociopaths.

    I had bad teeth, very crooked teeth, and required a lot of orthodontia. No dentist ever disrespected me for my dentition. (I did have one fairly recent dental school graduate who was extremely rude, loud, and shaming about what she considered high blood pressure. I accurately completed a “How Did We Do?” type survey, and vowed to never recommend her to anyone for any reason. My actual medical professionals have not been worried about my BP readings, and they are within a good range for my age and situation.)
    Be a professional.
    Go to a professional.
    Recommend professionals.
    Take care of yourselves everywhere you go!!

    If I was insecure about my teeth (I have discoloration due to medication when I was young, gapping, over bite, slight underbite), I feel like I would have fallen for this. My previous dentists have said these problems are all cosmetic not medically needed to have a good and healthy life. I’ve never been insecure about them before and I’m very happy about that.

    I don’t think people realize the trauma having teeth like this causes. You’d literally put up with almost anything. When you can’t eat, are in constant pain… it’s not just about looks. I’d have gone back too! Hell I’d take a lot of shit to get mine fixed now.

    Im terribly ashamed of my teeth. Ive never had consistent dental care and have ugly teeth. However, id rather have my bad teeth in private than have to put pictures or videos of them on the internet to get them fixed for free. Absolutely not. Terrifying. Traumatic.😢
