Can you please cover the software lighting control in detail on reviews from now on? It's very disappointing to me when the software cannot do anything additional than can be done on the keyboard alone with respect to the lighting so knowing what the software is capable of is one of the most important purchasing points for myself.
So cool to see Durgod make their boards be available in such a huge variety of different switches. I might just get this one with the Gateron Yellows, hope they make it available soon.
Great to see a company making the right decisions in terms of switch offerings. Glad they noticed the superior click bar mechanism of the Kailh BOX clicky switches. And the Gateron yellows which are loved by the enthusiast community for their springs.
How granular is the lighting control in the software? Can the software control the lighting to a higher detail than what is capable with the keyboard alone? For example, I specifically want to be able to alter and edit the colors used in the animations, is that possible? I want to have the rainbow wave animation utilize only gradient blue colors and I want to know if that's possible
for anyone buying this keyboard, the Venus comes with a freezing issue where the keyboard is stuck on the last entered key and becomes unresponsive. To fix it you just need to unplug and reconnect the keyboard. They say the issue is due to lack of shielding with the included cable, and an updated cable will fix the issue. However, they've sent me 3 updated cables, and the problem still persists. Looking on the Durgod discord channel, it seems to be quite common for many people there too. It isn't exactly a deal breaker for this keyboard (more of an annoyance), but something to consider.
@@sloththewizard2488 ay, i'll answer for ya. So you're probably thinking why would it be bad switches if they have cherry, and yeah I thought the same. However, there are lots of nicer switch options and durgod really just gives so many good ones. Cherrys are pretty good quality and are reliable but they don't really provide great typing experiences lots of the time. For example, most keyboards that have stock cherries and not like retooled have scratchy linears and some find tactility on browns not so great. Durgod gives gaterons, which have great linears because of their smoothness and kailh box which is also smooth in terms of linears but has nice clickys like jades or whites.
you can tell the housing was a casting from all the deep circle shaped groves under the pcb, they are were that stems were cut away from the cast after molding.
I took a risk and bought the Hades 68 over its competition and I’ve been really pleased with it. The software in particular is great. I don’t know of any other boards that let you reassign the base layer and it gives you so many more options when choosing a new set of keycaps. It’s so nice to be able to reassign a default key and then put a matching keycap with the correct row/profile in that position. The typing experience has also been surprisingly perfect tbh. The stabilizers are the best I’ve ever used on a prebuilt board, including my Ducky One, and the aluminum case has sound deadening material installed at the factory, leading to a solid feeling and sounding board. The only downside I experienced was that the Cherry Silent Reds in my board felt like they had been sitting in a warehouse for the past decade and were extremely dry and scratchy. I bit the bullet and desoldered every single one and added high quality lube. It was time consuming but it completely transformed the switches from the worst I’ve used to the very best. I installed thick PBT side-lit keycaps and thick+soft o-rings at the same time. I game late at night and also take this board to work so having the buttery smooth feel of linear mechanical switches while being 100% silent is just amazing. With the Cherry Pinks, thick keycaps with thick o-rings, and sound deadening inside the case I can bottom out the keys as hard as I want and you can’t hear the board at all from a few feet away.
Got this keyboard this week and had to send back as the case was bent under the space bar. The box it arrived in was pristine so I can only assume the bending happened in the factory.
Thanks for the thorough review. I have a K320 Taurus that I'm really happy with, and I'm looking for a 60% keyboard of similar quality. This looks like an interesting option, other than the RGB lighting, which I could really do without.
i had a ducky tkl on preorder from mk.com for 2 months and that frustrated me. So i canceled my order and got the k320 nebula of amazon in 2 days. I'm so impressed by this keeb. the stabs sound so good, probably because they are pre lubed. If you're looking for a new keeb I highly recommend durgod. They are probably better than ducky AND you don't have to wait months to get it.
Is there a way to program that tap function for the arrow keys on other 60% keyboards, maybe via QMK, or something? That thing is literally the reason why I want to get one of these and I would already have if either Cherry MX Silent Red or Cherry Speed Silver switch options were still available. I wish it was available in Kailh Speed Silvers.
How are the stabilisers on Durgod keyboards? I'm currently using the Anne Pro 2 and want to get a TKL keyboard. The stabilisers are fantastic on the AP2, so I'm not sure I can go back to any rattling of sorts.
I want to get into mechanical keyboards, but I don't really want a 60%. I saw the kbd75v2 kit, but that was just a bit too expensive with switches and keycaps. Is the ducky one 2 rgb tkl a good option to dip my toes in the custom game? It has some extra keycaps and the extra spacebar and stuff
@@medoki9607 I don't really like linear switches, but the ducky one 2 rgb tkl also comes with speed switches if I want. I ordered a switch tester to see which switches I like

Monsterco4 ducky is a good brand but if want to save a couple dollars and ditch The Whole lighting on a keyboard the durgod k320 is another good option and can get it for around 75 ish dollars on eBay (no backlighting though)
where do you buy your custom cables? I notice the opening is small on the keyboard and I tested with a few generic cables I have and they do not fit, so wanted to make sure I used a vendor that used a USB C that fits
The ducky one 2 mini has a setting where you can hold caps lock and use keys I, J, K, L to function as arrow keys. I found this to be a great feature when I owned the ducky, but regrettably had to return my ducky due to key chatter issues. I'm wondering if this keyboard can be set up in a similar way?

Remembering what was said I looked at the cord and yup it surely fits. So no I actually believe the plastic usb type c cord oval shapes are going into that direction style wise and it wasnt hard for me to find a cord for mines that I wasnt even looking for.
