    I know that I already thanked you for the videos. I’m buying a Timemaster this month, can’t afford the $200 month lawn cuts from landscapers. Things today seem to always need repair and you’ve covered that. Feel lot better knowing how to maintain the Timemaster. You’re a good guy. Thanks.

    I recently bought a used Timemaster that needed a bit of work. Your service videos have been a huge help getting it dialed in. This machine makes mowing fun again! Thanks Old Man!

    My craftsman pro 223cc push mower had a plastic cover like that in the front, it rusted out in 2 years. I keep my stuff very clean and dry too. It collects grass under the plastic

    My wife bought me one for Xmas, I'm patiently waiting for my first cut! I thought you were suppose to keep the sponge in the gas tank?

    Ever thought of spraying the underside of the deck with Fluid Film (or a similar product) to help with the grass buildup issues?

    • @SamLFisher
      @SamLFisher 3 роки тому

      That makes it worst. The drier the deck the less grass that sticks.

      This is my main residential mower. That would cause it to clog faster.

    Better to order the Timemaster in a box? I guess I’ll know it’s assembled correctly then😊

      I generally sell them after two years. Home owners don't put so much wear on their mowers so it should last 5 years or more. I just don't keep mine that long.

  • @rawe63
    @rawe63 3 роки тому +1

    How many lawns do you cut that you sell them off every two years.
    I recently bought two, up here in Canada I paid 1800 each but with electric starts.

      @alfirst9087 3 роки тому +1

      Don't know about him but I mow 100 properties every 2 weeks for 25 weeks here in Syracuse NY. So 2 years would be the equivalent of 200 years of mowing for a homeowner. I can get 50% of what I paid for equipment after 2 years so it just makes sense to buy new every two years.

    • @cheaperthandirtvideos1
      @cheaperthandirtvideos1  3 роки тому +1

      Yes, I only keep Timemasters for a max of two years.

    Do your modifications void the warranty?

    • @cheaperthandirtvideos1
      @cheaperthandirtvideos1  3 роки тому +1

      I never try to use warranty. All dealers seam to find a "consumer use" reason for the breakage, so they never cover it. I found it easier and quicker to just fix it yourself.

    So, it’s ok to tilt the mower on its side without any issues? I’ve always heard that is bad for the engine…..🧐

    • @cheaperthandirtvideos1
      @cheaperthandirtvideos1  3 роки тому +1

      The Timemaster is made to be tilted with the gas tank up. It the tank is full, it will drip a little. Tilting is the best way to work on the blades and cleaning the deck. Be sure to bring the handle to the upward position to provide support so it does roll over. Handle is designed to provide stability when tilted.

      @@cheaperthandirtvideos1 ok thanks for that info. What about other standard mowers with a 20-22” deck? I picked up a Poulan Pro and was wondering about tilting on its side to work on. Or if it would be best to tilt back and work from under the front

  • @cm1133

    That sponge adds gasoline capacity to that anemic size fuel tank

  • @Paul_n_Texas

    I was always told gas tank down and away from oil fill. Gas in oil is bad. Oil in gas is not so bad. Also gas does not collect in crevices running across the cowling.

  • @heathwilson2572

    • @cm1133

      The sponge adds fuel capacity to the tiny ass fuel tank. The commercial Toro Turfmaster has a one gallon tank.

    I've owned mine for 5 years now and would not recommend it unless you're very handy and don't mind replacing belts and pulleys whenever the mower hits a rock. If your lawn is level and free of debris then you'll probably be OK. Otherwise I'd avoid the Timemaster. The fuel tank is ridiculously small, so it's definitely not suitable for commercial use.

    • @cheaperthandirtvideos1
      @cheaperthandirtvideos1  Рік тому +1

      I used it for commercial. It's less than half the cost of the turfmaster and is basically the same mower.

  • @buckbenelli8

    First one lasted 6 years, second one didn’t go 5 years. Belts, pulleys, spindles, cables, shut off switch etc. motor was still running strong but all the other crap isn’t made to last. Loved it while they worked but they are 5 year machines at best. Now I’m back to square one.

      This silly whiny lament has to stop! You didn't pay for a Ferris or a Gravely so why would you expect commercial grade performance? A Ferris15 most likely costs around 3K so if you're pushing a Time Master to do pro work then no it's on you!

  • @gstexas3259

    Telling folks to pull the sponge , voiding the warrenty is not wise nor sound advice. There is absolutely no advantage to pulling it. I've owned mine for 3 yrs and have absolutely no issues. I use it for my side business of lawn care. So it is definitly moderate use compared to a home owner or pro. These are great mowers.

    • @supadoopa926

      Timemaster is $1000 cheaper than the Turfmaster. Performance is exactly the same. Used both and the only benefit to Turfmaster is the gas tank. I like the adjustment features on the Timemaster. Not worth the extra $1000. It's much quicker to fix it my self than spend 2-4 weeks under warranty repair. These are my main residential mowers.

      My 21 inch recycler mulcher has been fantastic🙂 I am cutting an 18 k square foot property with it. My Toro snow blower is also fantastic. I have about 250 feet of sidewalk to do . Most years our snow isn't too bad although we can get some fairly large dumps of it. My Toro mower is a much improved design and performs much better than my older Toro.
