My grandson brought me the 22" version of this machine that he found along the curb with a sign that said free! It looked like brand new and all it needed was gas in the tank. I used it for a few weeks, it did a good job, but I almost had to run behind it to keep up, even though it is a variable speed. This was an expensive lawnmower, and someone didn't like it. I didn't either so I gave it to my niece, she didn't have a lawnmower at her new house and she is happy with this one. The one that I have and use on my city lot is a old Toro, with a 3-speed manual shift and I always run it in the lowest gear! I am 85 years old, and it is just right for me! Love your channel and gang!

Understandable, the commercial mowers last much longer...steel levers instead of plastic...believe it or not the cables snap just as often on commercial as they do the residential, and this motor is more powerful than the FJ180v Kawasaki they put on the commercial mowers although the Kawasaki gives very little maintenance needed
The commercials last longer because they are more steel than plastic, it's also a reason they suck to actually operate...I take a personal pace over commercial everyday, just my personal preference

Had one of these for a few years now and I LOVE it! I’ve got between 1/2 and 3/4 acre, used a Toro 22” mower for years but it took well over an hour to cut and had to be done twice a week. Now I don’t even think about it when the grass is a little shaggy, just give it a quick run with the TM and it’s done in about 45 minutes. The bag holds a helluva lot more than any mower I’ve ever had too, now I can bag the grass without stopping every other row. Still keep an SR4 around as back up and for smaller areas but I’ll never sell my TM unless it’s to buy a brand new one!

Love the channel Taryl. It should be f***ing illegal to build equipment without grease fittings and all these companies that have been responsible for engineering obsolescence into all this stuff should be forced to redesign everything to be serviceable like it should be. Not to mention they should have to replace the junk that's out there already at no charge to the customer. Another thing that should be prosecuted is making a carburetor without adjustments. One more is a lawn mower or anything else for that matter the doesn't have a throttle control and just starts wide ass open. All these things they do just so you have to spend money and so average people can't repair their own equipment. It's sick and should be dealt with harshly. Thanks for the knowledge and laughter.

I mow commercially. This mower is great other than the 2 OEM idler pulleys that come on it. I used this mower every day this year, Monday through Friday on 4-5 yards per day, to mow about .25 acres per yard since I usually mow all front yards with it because of the excellent cut quality I get out of this mower. The other .75 acres on these lawns is mowed with a zero turn. After replacing both original idler pulleys with OEM pulleys and also having them fail, I replaced the OEM pulleys with pulleys for the Toro/Exmark 30" pulleys and haven't had any more issues. I did have to add a washer under each pulley to get the correct spacing, but it works great. I really appreciate the videos. I also purchased a Scag SFC 30" walk behind to try. It also has an amazing cut, but it cost twice as much and it weighs roughly 100 pounds more, so it causes more fatigue on the operator when mowing in corners and around trees and shrubs. I've bought a second Timemaster now as a backup and sold the SFC. Don't get me wrong, Scag makes excellent products and the SFC is a great mower, but not for mowing around trees, shrubs, and corners in a fenced in back yard which I do every day. On my personal yard, the SFC is about the best quality cut I've ever seen, but for all around use, the Timemaster is hands down the best.

@@moonziemoonzie5524 You have the same issue as anyone who uses the washout ports, it washes the grease out of the bearings. I tell people not to use it, instead just cut the grass when it's very dry and you won't get the build up from damp grass. Then at the end of the mowing season, flip up the deck, clean off any grass and spray it with a coat of cheap pain to keep it from rusting in storage.

You failed to mention there is a 30” stripe kit for them, which by the way works excellent, makes your lawn look like the pro’s did it. The only change that I would like is a bigger gas tank, I would personally pull out the foam to gain volume for fuel. Clean out under the black belt cover every so often, build up of grass will cause the belt to jump time and the blades will clank together, don’t ask me how I know that..... Otherwise those are a great product. Good video guys!!!

I have had the SAME issue on my 2016 Toro 30 in TimeMaster. It NEVER starts hot. There was a recall to change the crummy paper fuel filter, but i solved that design flaw, where the fuel feed is only 1/2 in drop from the tank outlet to Briggs 120000 series engine carb. I lashed on my Honda GCV190 Tank and a nice long hose, with a Disc filter and Shutoff valve from Home Depot. The Briggs recall is to install a metal HEAT SHIELD between the cyl head and float bowl, to fix hot restarting. I often do better than that, just get some silver foil faced R-MAX foam insulation, maybe cut 3x5in,, smash a recess to fit behind the float bowl with a small hammer, and shove it in place above the black plastic belt guard cover. surfaces, that worked for a few years, then needed to cool things down with Starting fluid or Gumout to restart hot. I then replaced the carbs several times with the inexpensive ones on Amazon. Worked a little better than Briggs OEM. FINALLY, I did replace the Magneto coil and shutoff switch, but yesterday PROVED THE NEW ONE IS INTERMITTENT. Got an adjustable Spark Tester, set for 10KV gap or larger - NO OUTPUT!!!!!!!!!!! Then I took the old one, sanded the pole pieces and TAPED the entire HV lead with 3M Electrical tape, and split the plastic insulator sleeve from my new Spark Tester, covering the CHAFED section where the muffler heatshield abradedi it. BINGO, it finally started! I then checked the Compression cold, but forgot to open the throttle plate - it read almost 30lbs. We also replaced the crummy HEAD GASKET again, with the 2nd gasket in the $42 Amazon kit, which HAS A NICE METAL fire ring, but is for the 223CC Upgraded engine all the Yard Service guys pay $500 new, to finally fix the underpowered temperamental 190. I found the old gasket BLEW OUT near the Exhaust side, a second time, vapor from all my Starting Fluid was coming out. Another telltale sign was the 4 head bolts were NOT TIGHT. I should have retourqued to the 125 in-lbs spec AGAIN after a month.
Since 70lbs seems to be the spec for these 190CC motors, I WILL be buying a new Piston, Rings, and Wrist pin set, and the 2 different length Rod bolts to raise the crummy 30lbs that is causing stalling issues. And my friend set the VALVE clearances ay 0.006in, AFTER INSTALLING THE NEW thicker gasket. It starts if I put the choke rod in, but soon I fave to remove it, and flip the choke spring 180 degrees over, to the main governor spring post, r it will bog down too rich! When I get anther $500 saved up, I am going to Toro Menders in ATL to buy a replacement 223CC engine, and a new DECK for another $100. Final note, there is a Hi Lift Blade kit, including a new front V shaped shield that bolts in with the front wheels assy - critically IMPORTANT, IT USED TO just fill the chute with grass. ------------- for the past 8 years it will FILL the bag with even wet grass- My thoughts, nothing else is safe on my sloped back yard, and at 150lbs for me, I can easily handle this 135lb mower. Just skip the $200 more Electric Start option, because it will be clunkier to use there. Just my thoughts after 8 years of Time Master troubles. And I replaced many broken cables, worn bearings, and belts Fyi, Hilary in GA

I have one and have used it for 3 years. I have had no problems. I thought it was going to be to heavy and hard to maneuver but it turned out to be easier to turn and get around objects than my 21" Toro personal pace. The blades being out front help with that. You don't have to hold your fingers on the blue handle to make it speed up. Just walk faster and it speeds up. I have never used the blue handle. Will buy another when the time comes. Starts easily and bags very well. Very smooth cut. Saves a lot of time compared to 21" cut.

I'm very lucky to put about 10 hours per year on my lawnmower because we've been through an El Nino period in Australia where we've had drought which killed the grass & the grass doesn't grow very much in winter time.
It got a workout last summer in Australia where we had La Nina which made the grass grow like mad !

Taryl I have owned a Toro TimeMaster for a number of years, do you know of a inexpensive source for wheel bearing that I could purchase , seems silly to buy wheels, or sets of wheels when a wheel bearing go bad. I have repacked my wheel bearings a couple of times. Also a big issue with these Timemasters is the size of the gas tank just seems with thousands of these out there someone would have come up with a elegant solution? Buy the way I updated the idler pullies as you suggested works MUCH BETTER.

Looks like a good unit. I do like that Toro, gives you the gear to mow the way you want or need to. I'd be tempted to trade my riding mower in for one of these if I didn't also mow my mother in law's yard. Her yard is large enough we really need a zero turn but those are a little spendy for me. We use two tractors and the mowing takes about 2 hours and another 2 to trim. That's no all of it though. There is probably another 2 hours of mowing around barns and sheds we gave up on a few years ago.

The Toro looks like a nice rig but I think I'll just keep on with the Roof 28 with the 8-horse Briggs I/C flat head and see what else it'll outlast. GBWYall!

The mower is a bit heavy for the width of the Tires, especially when using that bagger that holds so much grass. There is room for the tires to be double the width. It does indent turf even when you take a new path every time.. I have been using these mowers since the first model... Yes I have warn out those pulleys causing blade collisions... Warn out sets of tires too... I love the mower, great for leaf cleanups. First I mulch the leaves, then set the mower higher and just suck up any bigger pieces with the bag.. Less bagged leaves and good for the lawns.

Let's not forget the belt tension spring adjustment. Mine was off when I bought it new 3 years ago. Very important to do every 50 hours.
Right out of the operator's manual:
"Hold a 0.25 mm (0.010 inch) feeler gauge, a piece of paper, or a note card against the wall and slide it down behind the belt tension spring.
Note: If there is a visible gap between the gauge and the spring, tighten the adjusting bolt and the nut until the paper barely slides freely in and out of the gap."
Might want to show how to do that if folks do not know how too.
Spot on with the blade belt replacement. Have to replace mine every 140 hours. I get almost two years out of it.
    Thanks

I Like That It Has Timed Blades, No Strip Of Grass Left When Mowing, It's Annoying to Have To Go Over The Parts Of Grass That Was Missed. It Should Come Out With Grease Fittings On The Spindles. I Agree With You On The Idea Of Having That Foam Stuff In The Tank, It Could Break Down And Block The Fuel. Great Idea Of Having A Nice Fuel Filter On It. Good Idea On The Flick Back Switch, It Did Bog Down With The Thicker Grass While Mulching, But As You said The Grass Was Too High And It Had No Where To Go. Once You Put On The Side Chute And Catcher It Went Through The Grass Like a Hurricane. Maybe That's a Good Name For TORO If Its Not Taken. You Was Not Going Slow Either , It Ripped Through It Quickly. The Warranty On These Is Exceptional, Because They Know That Their Machines Are Of Good Quality. They LAST.. The Zero Turn Wheel horse Was a Great Machine For Turning On A Dime ❤ IT
