- How to keep your aquarium glass clean and clear of algae, cloudiness, smudges, fingerprints, and more. In this video, we walk through 5 tips to keep that glass clean and looking great.
Aquariums develop more algae and debris when nitrates are high from overfeeding, lack of maintenance and water changes, or a lack of live plants. If you find a better balance for your aquarium, you will likely need to clean your glass far less often. With some of our fish tanks, the glass or acrylic is only needed to be cleared every couple weeks.

Wow, the biofilm on glass does make a noticeable difference! About a month ago I set up another 120 gallon tank. Was really happy with pretty much everything - no algae so far, great parameters, fish very happy and active. What I was kind of unsatisfied with was the clarity of water. I love my water crystal clear, so I usually overfilter my tanks and dedicate significant time to maintenance, which seems to always work nicely and I can proudly say that I am very happy with how perfectly clear the water is in my other aquariums. But in this one, it always seemed very slightly fogged. Couldn’t figure out why. Turns out that due to lack od algae on glass i never actually cleaned it on the inside after setting up. Watched your vid, took the classic sponge-on-stick cleaner, and here we go… it wasn’t the water, it was the biofilm on glass! Thanks guys!

I like that you guys recomend live plants as a natural "filter" this is how i use mine aswell. I am aware i overfeeed a bit but with live plants this usualy is not a problem.Also i think it looks more natural with live plants.

Guys as always thank you for your knowledge. I've got a big planted 210 with basically no nitrates but algae is always a struggle. Always good to brush up on these tips.

How do you do the back?
You forgot to talk about the bristlenose pleco. The BN pleco will eat any algae on your glass. I have no plants in any of my tanks and keep my lights on all the time and my pleco's will keep the glass looking spotless.

Can you please let me know if I can keep 10 frontosa in 60gallon tank until they are 6 inches in length?
After I’ll move to bigger tank
I would say those frontosa in that tank are only good up to 3 inches.Then you gotta step up to a 95g or more. I have one frontosa in a 75g and it seems cramped w 10 Peacocks

How hard is your guys water there?
Hard water and ph around 8
I’m on a well and it’s extremely hard like 20 dpg or around 400 ppm and 7.5 ph, i am doing a 75 gallon yellow lab tank and i know they like hard water but i didnt know if that’s to hard
Yet still cannot find a way to use a magnet close to sand without risk of scratches..btw you don't need glass cleaner other than diluting white vinegar for outside glass.
The glass cleaner is like $5, so who cares to DIY that 🤷🏻♂️
Lol maybe but I use gallons of the white vinegar for bathrooms, fish tanks , weedkiller , food. The list is endless ..3 gallons cost peanuts so if someone has it in their kitchen then let them know it's something they can use 😊. @@CichlidBros
