Jessica .. Hehe .. I don't know. Feels like Bioware has been made tranquil. We're going to have to reverse the right of tranquility.. Once EA is cut off, than Bioware will be able to dream again.
matt, It's likely Bioware is in a similar state as the Wardens at Adamant, corrupted or otherwise lead astray by the promises of power by a ---corrupt CEOooo--- Magister. All of the ---Bioware's divisions--- Wardens in Orlais are being sacrificed in a great blood magic ritual used to bring forth a Demon Army to destroy --Laidlaw's/Gaider's/Weekes'/Bioware's dwindling credibility and legacy-- Thedas.
Okay, the Cousland stories are just too epic. And the relationship between Bryce and Eleanor is...fucking adorable. I didn't even know any of this, but the Human Noble has always been my canon. This just adds so much to it.
@@skizzlechizzle lol oh yeah? Some devs say its not 3 but has a big impact on the world and thebprevious characters you have gone on a "journy" with and its not DA3? Thats a load of bullshit.
Mahariel was actually related to an emerald knight of the dales. That knight was a founding member of clan sabrae. And the last name was passed along from that lineage. So there isn't a mahariel clan.
hehe, yeah basically Mahariel is dalish "royalty" with a bloodline reaching back several centuries :D Hence why they have a name that is separate from their clan's name.
I think, what made our Warden ( and Shepard ) so loved is because of the time Origins and ME2 was made/developed. Don't get me wrong, I loved DAI, especially the lores, but Origins had a free range of emotions attached to our Warden. Not sure if that makes sense. We could relate to our protagonists pain. Whether you where a casteless dwarf trying to survive, or a son/daughter witnessing the fall of your noble house. How many of us enjoyed killing Rendon Howe ( especially if you're Cousland )?... I don't think that we will ever have vengeful choices like this again. Shame .. :(
@@RexOlafusVidulusMagnus I didn't flirt with Delilah, but Nathaniel was cool. I played a female Couslon who got dumped by Alistair. It was my second playthrough at the time
Elinor Cousland, hands down, most badass woman in Dragon Age XD (if you don't count the warden, Hawke or the inquisitor but that depends on how you play her and if you play a female) Also, I imagine my warden reading the message from the inquisitor about Corypheus and being like: "Shit! Why do I miss the fun stuff?!"
This is one of those videos that makes me realize how much I still don't know about Dragon Age lore. I've played this series for a decade, and done multiple runs of all three games, but there's still so much I didn't know or hadn't realized. This is honestly priceless; as a fan, it's amazing to think there's still more to learn.
What examples did you want me to provide? The examples of WoT content stated in this video, or examples of how World of Thedas conflicts with game canon? Also, I should clarify something. I'm not claiming any and all WoT content referenced in this video is necessarily wrong, just that WoT is not a reliable source of information.
I'm working on an article about it. I'll let you know when and where I post it. For now, here are some examples (not including those listed in the errata section of volume 2). Vol. I, Page 21: This page states that the holiday Satinalia was dedicated to Zazikale, and refers to the dragon as the Old Goddess of Freedom. Zazikale is male. The writers may have mixed this up with Razikale, who is claimed to be female in Inquisition, but I think this is probably incorrect too. That's a separate issue though. Vol. I, Page 34: Claims that the dwarves living near lyrium for so long is what makes it impossible for them to wield magic. This is wrong. It has been said elsewhere, and even by Gaider I think, that dwarves can't use magic because they have no connection to the Fade. Vol. I, Page 118: States Mythal and Elgar'nan created the world. The game states the world was created by the Sun and Earth, these gave birth to Elgar'nan and after his battle with the Sun, the Earth made Mythal to calm Elgar'nan. Vol. I, Page 133: The Dragon Age begins in the Blessed Age, 8:99. Lulz. Vol. I, Page 172: Claims the Litany of Adralla can be used to separate an abomination. This is not true, even in cases where the mage is just possessed and not an abomination. The Litany is only used to break mind control, bloodmagic or otherwise, and prevent further mind control, and even then only while it is being cast. Vol. II, Page 96: Strongly implies that the girl Zevran was in love with, Rinna, was a human, as she is called a bastard of some prince, who I assume is human. Humans can't sire elves, and Zevran says in the game that Rinna was elven. This entire page is fanfiction. This story also contradicts Zevran's account of Rinna's death and how the Crows viewed the assassination. Zevran never suggests that they were given the order to kill her as a test of loyalty. He claims Talisan thought Rinna took a bribe from the merchant in exchange for information about their assassination plot. Vol. II, Page 97: States that the plan at Ostagar was for the Warden and Alistair to light the beacon, when in fact their role was just to ensure that Loghain's posted soldiers lit the beacon. Vol. II, Page 98 - 99: Names Loghain's wife as "Maeve". In the game Loghain calls her Celia. Also, the story outright claims she didn't even meet him until after he became a teyrn, which was 9:11 according to a codex in Origins. This would also mean Anora wouldn't be born until late 9:11 at the earliest, which contradicts Eamon's letter stating that Anora was approaching her 30th year in 9:30. There's a lot more, and most of it is just historical minutia, but some of them are huge whoppers as far as mistakes go.
I just starting playing through the dwarf noble lineage again and something I've noticed is that murder and backstabbing is actually extremely commonplace in dwarven culture, like nearly every codex entry you run into in the beginning is talking about how dangerous and cutthroat it is in dwarven politics and they only pretend to be "noble". So I mean honestly Bhelen is kinda perfectly cut out for the job, he completely understands dwarven politics and how to operate inside of them but also doesn't put up with too much unnecessary bull****, he also genuinely seems to want what's best for the dwarven people and is willing to fight tradition if it means improving his subjects lives. I think he's the interesting case of not being that good of a person (again the murders), but he is a good king, and one the dwarves desperately need
I love all the origins, I really do, but there’s something so special about the Cousland family. Having her become Queen and Alistair King was always such a sweet, uncharacteristically serene ending. And I usually hate playing as a human in fantasy games! I know this was posted awhile ago, but thank you so much for this video. I can’t imagine how hard it was to put together.
While I played a male warden who romanced Zevran, I still totally get your sentiment. I very nearly played a Dalish elf, but I went with the human noble because I wanted to get to know the world of Ferelden (and wider Thedas) through more familiar eyes. I was so happy to have made the choice I did, Dragon Age Orgins just might be my favorite video game experience so far.
Jacob Sedlack You know he probably named the child Warden, knowning Oghren he propably thought that was your name since that's what everyone called your character.
Funny I always thought the Dwarf Noble was older than that, It's kinda hard to tell with Dwarfs in DAO. I also really think it would be cool if we get to meet the Dwarf Noble's son with Mardy in a future game. Then again as a Aeducan Warden main I am actually kinda satisfied with their handling of him since they mention dwarven Wardens in Inquisition a few times outside the love intersts like at the Winter Palace mission and the Decent dlc. It's nice to know bioware hasn't forgotten about us especially since statically dwarves are the least popular warden players choose.
I’ve done all of the origins but I have beaten the game as the same Cousland twice: All hail Queen Eowyn Theirin Cousland, warden queen of Ferelden, wife of Alistair Theirin. She slayed an archdemon and lived to tell the tale.
Couslands for life, long live Aedan Cousland, Grey Warden, Hero of Fereldan, one of the last of his line, defeater of the fifth blight, reclaimer of soldiers peak, Warden Commander of Vigils Keep, Best friend of King Alistair, Lover of a witch of the wilds, Slayer of the Mother, and the Warden who killed an archedemon and lived to tell the tale but disappeared after chasing after a magical booty call. T_T I really want to play as him again. Also I'm ur tenth like, just saying
you forget Arl of Amaranthine, Champion of Redcliffe, one the closest friends of the divine, friend of the arishok, dragon slayer, also you defeat the legendary witch of the wilds flemeth and more...
Iron Clock well the benefits of being apart of the amazing dragon age fanbase is having great and loyal fellow fans help a brother out when he forgets to stack up more titles to an already fabulous character/origin.
Forget Alistair. Make him a drunk. It's the best thing for him. He needs to get out there and live a little. The Couslands will rule Ferelden eventually through Fergus at the very least. May as well get it done with in Origins with the male human noble marrying Anora! Hail King Cousland! Long live the King!
Could you cover that most majestic and noble of creatures, the Mabari, please? Pretty please? I can offer you a found cake, tangled ball of yarn and dirty pair of pantaloons for a video on Mabari.
Yes I’d LOVE a Mabari video!!! I named my first in origins Goose cause they’re bastards and it would give him strength. In 2 I’ve named mine Lake cause I could see one of the kids (probably Carver) mistaking the pond in Lothering for one. And we all know Hawke would never let him live that down, thou since mine is a warrior and everyone is gone and Carver died it’s probably something sweet now. Funny, sweet, and sad.
Considering they could always use the Warden Commander as a stand in if need be, I’ve never bought the whole, “what if your warden died? We can’t bring yours back in a meaningful way if others’ wardens are dead!”. It seems really difficult to include them considering they have differing personalities, SO. MANY. VOICE ACTORS, and hard to recreate faces, but they need to give much needed closure to the most beloved protagonist in dragon age.
You mean having a tantrum about not being able to divorce because he blamed his wife for not producing a male heir, then split from the Church as a result of said tantrum? He should have just followed Luther instead of making the Anglican Church basically Catholic minus the Pope.
I still call BS on not having my Warden return in the next Dragon Age. Hell, a DLC or sidequest could focus on finding him( my Warden is a dude.) or assisting him in finding a cure for the Calling or maybe work in an angle that allows me to fight him or something. I also down with being able to see the Warden-Commander from Awakening too. I'm sure there is some reason that'll allow Bioware to drop our Wardens back in. I mean they did with Leliana and she is/can be dead. I'd also settle for partying up with some of the previous cast like Shale, Wynne(Yes, I know she's dead in canon, but I'd like to have my grandma back pls), Zev, Fenris, Aveline, Merrill. I mean I'm sure theres an angle that'll allow us to hang out with Nathaniel and Velanna and Sigrun. Also can't forget about the Hawke twins, I'd love to see them all grown up kick ass as a Grey Warden or Templar/Enchanter or something.
Dude, Mike Laidlaw is out! That means the Hero could come back. He was the main one who was opposed to it. The next game could work the Architect angle, and whether he is dead or alive, Seranni could come back to carry on the Architect's work. Which means Velanna could come back, and thus the Hero of Ferelden could come back with the cure. I see Velanna helping the Hero find the cure so they can save Seranni. Oghren would be down just for the thrill of adventure, and Sigrun would naturally want to find a way to better fight the Darkspawn. No matter what, the trouble in Weisshaupt demands the Hero's attention, and even a dead Hero should have a custom tomb at Weisshaupt in his/her honor. If DA4 doesn't feature at least a cameo appearance by the Hero, I will not buy it.
@@BelieveIt1051 . I find very unlikely that Velana and Sigrun (and Seranni) will return again in a game, they are not even considered in the choices of the Keep, if there is someone from Awakening that has a chance to return are Ogrhen and Nathaniel.
@@BelieveIt1051 . Of that, I am sure it can be done, but I don't think they will do it. Most likely they will just update to add the choices from future installments.
1) I dunno about you man, but theres no way I'd want to have to fight my Warden. Lol. My canon Amell could solo the frickin Archdemon if she had a mind to. No. Thank you. 2) I'd really love to see the Warden come back too. I don't expect much out of Dragon age 4 to be honest. Modern Bioward hasn't given us any reason to believe it'll live up to the series legacy, but I still hope for some cool moments. I think it would be the coolest thing ever if after the DA4 protagonist customization menu, the screen fades to black and transitions to a menu to customize your Warden if they're alive in the world state. Hell, even if they just show up in a wanted poster or something, I want to SEE my warden damn it.
I find it hilarious that in origins, even though you can romance basically anyone, there is background lore that basically guides you on who you should romance. Tabris and Leliana is kinda like Shirou and Saber from Fate Stay Night. Cousland and Morrigan is kind of like a centuries old repayment for highever, and Mage and Alistair is kinda like what it could have been with Cullen.
They say the warden is voiceless so he can't come back but that is easily fixed. Get those people who voiced the lines like "more darkspawn i see" "It seems you're eager die" and so on and so forth. Or make the warden go voice less and have to use the orb the guy in the black emporiom uses.
@@SeventhheavenDK Hawke was either a man or a woman... but always human.. which of the two it is, you put in your world-state. thats quite different for Origins.. there you could have been a dwarf, elf, or human.. either male or female.. circle, city, Dalish, noble or commoner. thats a lot of choices.. do you really think EA will bring back a cameo, and do that much trouble for it ?... Does not smell like EA to me... And although Star-wars has gotten me a little more hopeful that EA can still make a good game, the products they put out lately haven't exactly filled me with confidence. The fact that Hawke returned for 1 quest, is no proof at all that they will do so for another character of 3 games ago...
4:36- About the Tabris part. We all know that Leliana met the mother of the City Elf Warden during the Leliana’s Song DLC. But I got to wonder, how old was Leliana during that time? The mother mentioned that her child (boy or girl) is a kid and after Leliana helped free her, she said that she will teach her child that not all humans are bad. So was Leliana like 16/17/18/19 at the time because that’s a little bit creepy seeing how some Tabris Wardens will end up romancing her even though could be like in her mid 20s. And Tabris him/herself is stated to be 18 years old meaning that Leliana could be around 25/26/27/28/29, or hell, she could be 30. That’s a pretty huge age gap between Tabris and Leliana.
I think some of the boons not happening has more to do with the fact they didn't think they would get to make more dragon age games, they did have to do some retconning to have things make sense and were hard to transfer from game to game since there were so many choices.
Hmm prob will never happen but if we did get to see our Warden again, to cause less issue than with Hawke's Inquisition return, have the game set up where for part of the game we play as our Warden and pick the dialogue options, etc. Still have the majority of the game be the new protagonist but I wish I could have just switched to Hawke during part of Inquisition.
Because you can't pick a personality type in Dragon age Keep, and how vast the dialog choices where, they couldn't summerize the personality the same way they can with hawke. Hawke had evil, funny, good for all choices so you can pick a persona based on one of those three depending on what was used most. Origins however had a more overreaching greyness to everything
But Keep can always be updated, and the Warden has Wise, Cocky, Experienced, Suave, Violent, etc. in the voice list to choose from. That could contribute to their personality profile in a new game. Also, Hawke's implementation wasn't solved with the Keep. People complained that Hawke's stance on blood magic contradicted their DA2 playthroughs.
You should try recreating your Hawke in Inquisition, as the Inquisitor. It's kind of interesting. I also found that Inquisition couldn't have worked with Hawke as the Inquisitor, but it was still fun.
John Holland they can make a separate small campaign like ‘Leliana’s Song’ and ‘Darkspawn Chronicles’ where you play as either HoF or Orlesian warden. This way you wouldn’t have to choose a personality and the warden could still remain voiceless and meet the protagonist from the main campaign.
Or a side game where you play as your Warden and experience their journey out in the unknown western regions. Really ambitious, but I'd be stoked to play something like that. (Or that Warden Commander character, depending on if the Warden survived Origins.)
First I would like to say: Lovely informative video and please do keep up your fine work! I wanted to mention though, I think there is a small mistake around 16:45; probably a discrepancy between the lore and the game play. Fergus Cousland does end up at Ostagar. We know because Cailan mentions that he arrived with the Highever troops but questions the younger Cousland sibling about the whereabouts of their father. He then tries to console the Warden by saying 'No doubt you wish to see your brother, but he [and his men] are out on a scouting mission and will not return until after the battle.' So Fergus did reach Ostagar but was ambushed by darkspawn on the scouting mission and awoke in the Chasind Hut long after the battle was over and the Warden and Co. were already marching to Denerim. As you said at the beginning though, there is a LOT of lore to sift through, so a mistake here and there is completely understandable.
I think the wardens quest will play a part in DA4, and similarly to Stroud replacing Allistair/Loghain in Inquisition, the Orlesian warden will take the original warden's place if they were killed in Origins. My personal theory is DA4 will be in Tevinter and we will go to the Black City. I think the warden will find that the taint within them will let them pass the barrier to the city unharmed and that is what they will find on their currently unknown quest. I think our DA4 character will do the joining as a means to enter the city.
@@SeventhheavenDK It doesn't have to be the Warden in person, just that the wardens quest will lead us to the city. It could be a note in game again, or some new character that knows the Warden or something that actually informs us. Or they could actually put the Warden in game. It wouldn't be so different than giving Reven a canon appearance, voice, and personality in the Old Republic series.
I really think There is a possibly way for Our Warden to Return. Simple way is the Warden was fully Armored (or Hooded if he or she was a Mage) and was explained that he or she for some reason Can Not Speak(either because of magic or wounds) Or just fly over riding a Griffin, save the DA4 Protagonists, and say no words.
So... this is a lot. And I realize how much I have under played DA:O. Yikes. I'm going to need to watch this a few times. Nice work! The Warden is a huge topic and I am glad you were able to give his or her justice.
Athena Cousland first of her name, Queen of Ferelden, Arlessa of Amaranthine, Lady of Highever, The Warden-Commander of Ferelden, Champion Of Redcliff, The Dark wolf, Saviour of Kal'Hirol, Hero of Fereldan.
The boons and epiloge stuff were all written with the possibility in mind that there was never going to be another game, so they would give some closure to the story and characters.
I wish we had more on Surana because I played a Warden Surana and he is my personal favorite run through of the game. I love him so much but have so little! It hurts!
I'd love to see some game way down the line where you play as the the Warden or Alistair's adoptive child (depending on whether or not your warden died or romanced someone) Could be fun. You're trying to make your own path and get out of your parent's shadow! You're out to prove yourself! It'd probably be too complicated to actually make, so it's probably just me daydreaming about my Warden and Zevy having a cute lil baby! Anyway, if you didn't romance anyone or died at the end of the game, the character would be the child of Alistair and ... someone, depending on his ending. Either he had a child while travelling as a Grey Warden, or he has a child as a king - could be a child he takes in from another noble family, maybe an actual legitimate child he had with his queen or maybe even a bastard (Though that last one seems like it might be a bit out of character for him since he hated being a bastard and probably wouldn't like making one himself). If you romanced someone: Morrigan: Well ... we know how this works out. And your son could work as a protaganist in a later game since Flemeth removed the God or ... something(??) from him, so he wouldn't be really overpowered or anything. Alistair: It would be sort of the same as above. You either adopt a kid on your travels as Grey Wardens, or you have a child somehow while ruling together - or in secret if you're a mistress. Lelianna: Maybe you find a child while travelling Orlais. Of course Lelianna doesn't mention a child in the second and third game, but that could sort of be handwaved away with 'Oh, Lelianna was just being very cautious and did not want spies to figure out her weakness'. The child could be in a Circle somewhere, be with the Warden or maybe be in a chantry? It would make sense that Lelianna didn't want to bring the child with her to the Inquisition since, you know, fightning and stuff. Zevran: Since we don't see a lot of Zevran in the second and third game it wouldn't be too hard to work in a child in his and the Warden's future. Maybe they're travelling - just for fun or for Warden-business - and they go through Antiva or Tevinter, where they see a child being put up for sale into slavery. Since Zevran was sold to the Crows as a child it would make sense that he might want to help out a kid who is in a similar shitty situation. Or maybe your Warden is contacted by someone from their background and asked to take care of a child. For example, if you played a Dalish then your clan will ask you to take in a child who has lost it's parents - which would again fit pretty well with this certain Warden's background. Again: It will probably never happen, but one can dream xD
For the City elf warden, i place Leliana's Song at about 3-5 years before Origins (Leliana is still young, no older than 30 as she was born in Orlais after the rebellion ended (9:02, or 9:00 depending on the lore), but was trained from 16 by Marjolaine. I presume she was 19-21 during "Song") it is my personal belief that Adaia died escaping the prison, putting the City elf at between 13 and 16 when she passed.
My 'canon' Warden is Mahra Amell (because I like the family relation between her and Hawke and I always play mages so I like the irony of playing characters most of their society hates and fears being responsible for saving their behinds...), Mage Fem!Hawke, and in DAI, Trevelyan XD Because I like the full circle of Cullen having the crush on Amell, him hating mages after the events of broken circle, and then coming full circle himself by falling in love with another mage.
I'm a hardcore Mahariel fan sooo yeah.. Anyways some the elves with the surnames Talas, Sabrae, and Mahariel came together and formed the clan Sabrae. So Mahariels name is obviously from their fathers aside and not their mothers. Also the fact that Mahariels father was a Mage because he was the former keeper and yet you can't be a Mage too still sucks...
Where does it say that Loghain urged Howe to betray the Couslands? I was always under the impression it was the other way around. That Howe made the suggestion to grab more lands and power.
My warden is the daughter of the Couslands. When I played, I made the following choices. - I told Alistair to bandage the wounded soldier in the Korcari wilds. - found a letter in the wilds and delivered to Jetta in Redcliffe. - Slayed an ancient demon in the wilds. - Gave 10 healing potions to a woman in Lothering - Gave some traps to a woman in Lothering. - Told the barmaid to leave Lothering. - Defended Redcliff (everyone survived) - Saved the circle of magi and the mages. - Chose Harrowmond as king of Orzammar. - Sided with the elves by lifting the curse off the werewolves. - Won a landslide victory at the landsmeet (saw through Anoras cheap shit to the throne). - Loghain was defeated by the warden in singles combat. - Alistair executed Loghain for high treason and slave trading and attempted murder on the grey wardens Cousland and Alistair. - Slayed the archdemon and lived. - Cult of Andraste became extinct. - Anvil of the void was destroyed.
Only played origins a long time ago Recently decided to replay it and finish the trilogy while im at it Really happy i found your channel Thanks for the great videos
My Amell warden was so popular various Fereldens were telling her she should have taken the throne. (She took Zevran instead.) Queen Anora gave her a favor and Kasella Amell asked for autonomy for the mages tower. Anora laughed out loud and granted the request. This is my second Amell and the people of Kirkwall are all clucking to my Hawke about these foolish Fereldens. I just thought you may have wanted to know. A politically savvy mage warden can ask for Circle Tower autonomy.
Dear: Ghil A Letters from A Heroes Of Ferelden Commander of The Grey DavidT Amell. I really like your voice in all the stories of Dragon Age. You ready do have a great voice for the stories Ghil! I love your voice in The Stories chere! ;-)
2:18 I’m only now noticing this, but it seems weird how Alister wouldn’t know something like that. He was a former Templar, a local mother directly told Logain that he wasn’t going to get away with messing with Chantry business.
Thanks for this... Its been long since i played last and never had all the DLC unfortionally. But I really hope we get a remake of it with tied up loos ends like they are suppose to be. Defenitly one of my favourit.
I'm hoping that we get to see a cameo of the Hero in the Warden Civil War. To which they can easily pull off in two ways. 1) If he/she does not do the Dark ritual and dies We see their casket alongside the other four wardens and two empty ones, with a small summary honoring them. If romanced you see a small engraving by their loved one or at least a memento from them. 2) Did the ritual. The warden is standing somewhere and you can talk to the person about what they are doing and how things are going with their lover. In addition I'm hoping they have a scene where the hero tells the new MC that they don't like being at Weissupt and it's not because of the people or the place but because they already have a casket prepared for them when they die.
There's a small bit in trespasser where if the Warden romanced Leliana and she becomes Divine they live together after she removes the restriction on romantic relationships for Chantry members.
Old video, but I was hearing it while I played and heard you say Sophia Dryden chose to be a Warden. She didnt, and even hated them until she realized she could use them.
Ah I want to see my Lady Aeducan as the Queen of Orzammar, letting Zev assassinate her trecherous brother Bhelen. Imagine Alistair being king of Ferelden and Warden is queen of Orzammar.
Currently trying to play thru the three games and dlc (on DA2 now)... This was really interesting to see how all the other backgrounds would have played out... totally had to rewind and replay portions to glean details... soo many details! Thanks for these vids, subscribed for sure! :3
Wow I have no idea how in the world you condensed this many story lines into 27 minutes and still make it followable. Also 2 questions: how do you spell the dwarf commoner mom's name and don't you meet the DA2 female elf companion in DAO? OMG I just realised... Warden Hadouken. I will never look at this the same way.
Ace 7299 a loooooot of editing, haha. As for the questions, it's Kalah Brosca! And yes, you do! I tried to show DAO Merrill, but the clip didn't just... fit anywhere? She helps the warden look for Tamlen in the ruins after you wake up. You can also temporarily recruit Fenarel to look for Tamlen with Merrill, who is one of the two major elves that confront you after the Keeper dies in DA2!
Ghil Dirthalen I thought so thanks for answering it was odd going from DA2 and then going back to DAO and realising it was her. Also still can't get over Warden Hadouken.
I still can't get over the fact that one of my Hawkes had such a pouty face and I choose diplomacy with them to take them serious especially those silver eyes added in it I would burst out laughing
1. If the Warden romanced Leliana and still lives, isn't their reunion mentioned in Trespasser? So we know they come back from their quest? 2. If Warden becomes queen, at the end of King Alistair's quest in DA2 he says "it's time to go back to my old ball and chain" and Teagan responds "you now queen hates when you call her that". So Warden is probably still around at that time. Does this mean TWH DLC take place around second act of DA2?
I remember so many people were pissed at the ball and chain line, because as a couple they went through so much, it was truly an epic scale love story. It didn't come across as a joke, but just modern writing. I remember laughing at the fact Alistair looked like he had middle age spread.
Yeah, I was not laughing at the "ball & chain" comment. I was hurt and felt betrayed one more time like I did on other play-throughs and like I did with Cousland as Queen when Alistair casually mentions he'll have to cheat on you to make an heir, but he will "talk about that later". Like I did when Alistair supposedly loved me, but he was flirting his head off at Leliana, wanting to test out sex with a Bard as King. :P
1. Trespasser's epilogues are not canon, unless they merely reflect in-game events like Hissrad dying. 2. I think the implication was that Witch Hunt was concluding, or perhaps Golems of Amgarrack. Teagan states the Queen would be "returning soon", I think (it's been awhile since I saw the clip). Which implies the Hero is off on one of those quests.
BelieveIt1051 1. With the Devs explaining unclear things from them (like Blackwall dying if you send him to Wardens, or Harding killing lyrium addicted Cullen), I thought they are cannon. 😕 2. Thank you, I found the clips. In situations when the Warden isn't queen, Teagan indeed says that they will be returning soon.
Um, the epilogues are canon. They are in the game. The only way they would not be canon is if Bioware retcons some in DA4 as they have done with previous installments.
Does anyone know how it is that the mage warden's origin story involves using magic to force open a lock, and then afterwards they completely forget that magic can be used to open locks?
I just doscovered this channel through this video. This is amazing. I've loved this series for years and there is so much I still dont know. I will definitely be checking out more of your stuff. Also you were totally right. I coupd name each warden last name and their family members. And I knew most of their differences in endings by heart. But I never once even imagined the orlesian warden commander had special last names. Now I will have to headcanon them somehow.
I've recently got into Dragon Age Origins again, I'm playing as a male Human noble and I always romance Leliana. When it comes to Dragon Age I love the lore, the music and the characters. I'm also thinking about getting the novel Stolen Throne and The World Of Thedas vol 1 and 2. One more thing, I just want to say I'm so glad I found this channel your content is marvelous. Sincerely a fan from Australia.
I have always played with my Warden Surana in every playthrough. Though I have seen the other origins in UA-cam, but I just love my Niena. Also, in my headcanon, it is my Warden the one who becomes Inquisitor, so I recreate her again in that game.
This makes me feel like flemeth saved my brother ..... I remember telling flemeth what about my brother and her response makes me think now that i have watched this video I learn more every video 😊
This is great, I did my first playthrough as a female human noble, Marissa Cousland, and when it got to the bit about Warden's children having the blight in them from the womb I was like crap I'm the last Cousland, and I actually cried when I got to the bit where Fergus shows up, I was like 'OMG the Couslands will survive! *sob*' It was also cool getting a war table mission from Fergus in DA:I. I understand why the prigin stories were so detailed (it's the name of the game after all) but it does make the subsequent games feel lesser as a result. Although, unlike others, I actually liked the start of DA2, it is much easier to roleplay if you have a starting point that is well detailed.
What I miss about orgins was the lack of restriction on gear if I played a mage and didn't have the arcane warrior specialization then you could upgrade your strength to equip a sword or armor it made more sense to me
we do meet one member of our extended family as a mage the girl asking about traps and non poisoned ones is ment to be betheny which means we did meet part of our family again and there are hints that we were being watched by Hawke while there aswell
going back to the new circle of mages they make and name the tower in your dead mages honour they did plan to keep their word but due to the events that happened leading up to DAI they were forced to take sides in the new war between the mages and templars it is highly implied via little bits of lore that can be missed in DAI that they are the mages that are part of the Inquisition from the start as they see the planned return as a way to truly rewrite the way they are seen by the rest of the world and allow them to be more free than they have in the past
The warden will definitely be back. Hopefully in DA 4 but if not then in 5. And I think they will give a voice to the warden and if they want to keep them silent then they could easily make it to where your warden lost their voice during their adventure by means of magic or something
Mistakes noticed in your video: If Warden goes with Morrigan, it is stated they were seen falling out of a mirror in an Orlesian noble woman’s bathroom which caused a small scandalous rumor. If warden had the love triangle with Leliana and Morrigan then chose with Leliana, there is still the chance to go with Morrigan or to kiss her and wish her luck. If the mission to stop the demon army in DA I is done before “In Wicked Hearts and Wicked Eyes”, you can spot the warden attending the ball. The proof comes in the form of an individual seen leaving the ball right as Morrigan escorts you in. One player noticed an elf dressed in noble garb leaving and knew the Orleasians are one for elven guests (outside of servants). They then tested it with a dwarven warden and found the same results, an individual matching the race of the warden leaving at that very moment. However if you do that mission before stopping the demon army, the individual leaving in the cutscene never appears, implying that it is only after the wardens have been freed that the Warden Commander returns.
Mahariel over anyone else because in the greater scheme of things, he/she has the most intimate implications to the whole lore behind the blight, grey wardens, ancient elves (eluvians mostly) and Flemythal Also, if your warden was the dalish elf, Merrill will mention him/her several times throughout DA2 and you can guess that she had strong feelings toward Mahariel, maybe love him/her but never got the chance to express it. The end of the dalish origin also points to that, because Merrill will have a very sad look as you leave the camp with Duncan.
Anyone else not want their Warden to return in future games? I love my Tabris to death, and I'm concerned that they'd make her act really out of character whenever she came back, especially since Origins didn't have a personality system like DA2 did.
they can make it where you basically have a conversation between the hero and whoever the protaginist is. You would choose what the hero says but it would be like origins where the protaginist can respond, based on what you choose to ask or say, yes you would be talking to yourself but roleplaying wise you are having two characters interact.
Sadly I think it's highly unlikely we ever see the Warden on screen again. Bioware kind of didn't know what to do with their character after their role as Warden commander. I like to think my Warden married Leliana and had a few kids living in their house out in the country.
My favorite thing about the origins is that all but the mage origins exist in the same timeline (mage elf is just city elf + magic) so you could very reasonably say all of them happen/exist, all that changes is where duncan is and therefore where tragedy strikes. In fact, we KNOW that the dwarf noble is canonical and dead if you don’t pick him
If we ever do get a playable Warden, I hope it's just for a brief "moment of power", where we start the game as a max level of whatever class they are, with a few rando companions, they find a macguffin, and send it off to he worked with by the main character of the game.
I like that the only thing that basically works with the supposed arrest and execution of Threnhold in 9:21 Dragon is that the first born Amell mage would have been born between about 9:10-9:12 Dragon which would actually fit the age of magic manifesting for them to be taken away. And make the Amell mage about the same age as Bethany and Carver. Too bad Leandra had already ran off with Malcolm in 9:05. I know dates must be a nightmare and a half for the team, but these ones seems so bad. Maybe the actual issue is when the parents died....What if Leandra ran off in 9:05 Dragon, and this was a scandal, but over the years it died down. Threnhold is slowly getting less popular and Aristide is getting more popular. We know Gamlen was talking care of them when they were getting older, and he himself was under quite a tight leash, and was in touch with Leandra. What if Bethann and Aristide forgave Leandra around 9:10 Dragon, the same time Revka was pregnant with Amell Warden? Maybe they tell Gamlen to tell Leandra this or even give him a copy of the will to send to her to prove their forgiveness. This is how Gamlen finds out about the will. When Gamlen gets a letter from Leandra telling him that she's pregnant again, he realizes that she would be in no condition to travel and thus tells her that her parents were dead, thus breaking any real chance of her coming back. No chance at forgiveness, and no option to travel. She will make her peace with it in private and he's secured his future by claiming Leandra hadn't forgiven them and wouldn't accept their "bribe". Fast forward to 9:21 Dragon. Threnhold is being awful, everyone is still angling for Aristide even with two boughts of cholera under his belt. Then, just before the arrest and execution, Warden Amell manifests their magic and is taken away by Templars and shipped off to the Ferelden Circle at age 10 (Harrowing at 19, same age as Cullen). Bethann and Aristide devastated by another massive blow to the Amell name, and being reminded, again, of magic ripping families apart succumb to the third bought of cholera they contract. This would then still give Gamlen about 5-8 years to totally drive everything into the ground. Even when Leandra gives Gamlen a quick, warm embrace and holds onto him, he is much slower to brings his arms up around her. And the "Let me say up front, I wasn't expecting this. The Blight, your husband dead... I'd, ah, figured you'd pretty much be Fereldan for life." Very suss, man. Very, very suss.
I wouldn’t mind them having a Dragon Age game were you can recreate your warden and play what happens as they look for a cure for the calling.
@Jessica Sponseller. Now that would have been an awesome DLC for DAI.
matt richard how many messages do we have to send to make this happen.....?
Jessica ..
You ma'am
Are a genius
Okay, the Cousland stories are just too epic. And the relationship between Bryce and Eleanor is...fucking adorable. I didn't even know any of this, but the Human Noble has always been my canon. This just adds so much to it.
Origin's will always be my favorite installment. The other's were fun, but just lacked something for me.
2 lacked the identity you could create and 3's level up system is made too simple?
SirShane63 Inquisition isn’t DA: 3

Mahariel was actually related to an emerald knight of the dales. That knight was a founding member of clan sabrae. And the last name was passed along from that lineage. So there isn't a mahariel clan.
hehe, yeah basically Mahariel is dalish "royalty" with a bloodline reaching back several centuries :D Hence why they have a name that is separate from their clan's name.
What no way!!!
I like the idea that Surana is a nobody from a normal family because it goes to show greatness can rise from anywhere.
Shame .. :(
especially killing rendon howe. i can imagine my warden saying to the dying howe, "this is for my family you Bastard".
I have a specific memory of equipping the Couslon family sword to finish Howe off.
@@absollum I had their sword & shield with me the while time until Howe was slain.

(if you don't count the warden, Hawke or the inquisitor but that depends on how you play her and if you play a female)
Also, I imagine my warden reading the message from the inquisitor about Corypheus and being like: "Shit!
Be careful though, some of the content in this video is from World of Thedas, which conflicts with the game canon in various ways.
@@BelieveIt1051 . Like...for example?( Serious question)
@@BelieveIt1051 . examples of how WoT conflicts what was stated in the game.
Bhelen is honestly a great person besides the whole brother-murder thing
He knew he was the right one for the job and it just couldn’t be anyone else. ⚔️ 🩸
He's a Liberating Tyrant. It's wacky. Definitely brutal and power-hungry, but also seems to want what's best for his people.
And the whole framing his other brother for the deed
I made a male warden who became the father of an old god and was the lover of Morigan, and made Alistair marry Tern Logand daughter unite the land😅
Ogrhen also names his kid by Felsi after you. It'd be interesting if that kid is the dwarf pc in the future
Jacob Sedlack That would be amazing!
Jacob Sedlack You know he probably named the child Warden, knowning Oghren he propably thought that was your name since that's what everyone called your character.
I would love to see orghrens kid and the wardens kid (if you're a male warden) interact
Commander Daniel Cousland XD wouldn't be surprised
I would prefer as a companion.
I think the book Morrigan left behind held the info about there being a cure for the wardens
I’ve done all of the origins but I have beaten the game as the same Cousland twice:
All hail Queen Eowyn Theirin Cousland, warden queen of Ferelden, wife of Alistair Theirin.
She slayed an archdemon and lived to tell the tale.
The Cousland origin is for sure the most badass! The Hero of White River and the Seawolf fuck yeah!!
The Warden, aka TheLegend27 of Dragon age.
What are you guys playing?
Mr Ghil The Good stuff 👌
I finish dragon age Origins today. 3/11
Hell yeah! Couslands for life!
you forget Arl of Amaranthine, Champion of Redcliffe, one the closest friends of the divine, friend of the arishok, dragon slayer, also you defeat the legendary witch of the wilds flemeth and more...
BelieveIt1051 No! Warden-сommander Cousland would never betray his brother in arms Alistair for some wench called Anora.
Could you cover that most majestic and noble of creatures, the Mabari, please? Pretty please? I can offer you a found cake, tangled ball of yarn and dirty pair of pantaloons for a video on Mabari.
I'll take the cake.
Plz
Yes I’d LOVE a Mabari video!!! I named my first in origins Goose cause they’re bastards and it would give him strength.
In 2 I’ve named mine Lake cause I could see one of the kids (probably Carver) mistaking the pond in Lothering for one. And we all know Hawke would never let him live that down, thou since mine is a warrior and everyone is gone and Carver died it’s probably something sweet now. Funny, sweet, and sad.
@@ryanwatt6706 And in inquisition "Fuck you no best boy/girl for you."
-EA, probably
Considering they could always use the Warden Commander as a stand in if need be, I’ve never bought the whole, “what if your warden died? We can’t bring yours back in a meaningful way if others’ wardens are dead!”. It seems really difficult to include them considering they have differing personalities, SO. MANY. VOICE ACTORS, and hard to recreate faces, but they need to give much needed closure to the most beloved protagonist in dragon age.
An autonomous circle would've 100% worked with a king willing to go Henry VIII on the chantry.
@David Kings The Keep can be updated by BioWare with new choices at their leisure and at any time.
Get those people who voiced the lines like "more darkspawn i see"
"It seems you're eager die" and so on and so forth. Or make the warden go voice less and have to use the orb the guy in the black emporiom uses.
Amell ftw. Really like the connection to Hawke.
Lilo. Low my mind
I miss my warden. I hope we get to see our warden in da4 and have them stick with us for a bit like Alistair did if he stayed with the wardens
Will never happen. Will you not feel let down, if you made a black female Cousland, and in DA4 he turns out to be a dwarfen male ?...
@@RFA_The-DuDe . Lol, your comment makes no sense, if the Warden returns obviously you will have the chance to costumize them.
@@SeventhheavenDK Is this a fact ?, or just something you made up, or perhaps wish will be so ?...
@@RFA_The-DuDe . It is a fact, that is what happened with Hawke, you can costumize him.
The city elves got fuckin screwed man. It really sucks that they get fucked over no matter who becomes Bann.
omg I just found this channel and it's 100% GOLD
Well, it's wood plated with 24k gold. But we can give her a pass.
Cousland is literally my go-to. It has that good drama, you know, specially with Fergus alive.
I want to play as the warden again ;-;
Very unlikely.
Simple way is the Warden was fully Armored (or Hooded if he or she was a Mage) and was explained that he or she for some reason Can Not Speak(either because of magic or wounds)
Or just fly over riding a Griffin, save the DA4 Protagonists, and say no words.
So... this is a lot. And I realize how much I have under played DA:O. Yikes. I'm going to need to watch this a few times. Nice work! The Warden is a huge topic and I am glad you were able to give his or her justice.
22:08 why do I hear in my mind "I used to be an adventurer like you before I took an arrow to the knee."
Best thing about origins is that it has a ending I like the other games but the cliffhanger endings always kill me when playing those games
Completed my Inquisition a few months ago, this Chanel is haven sent for information and general trivia of the lore, thanks.
This is so cool and was really fun to watch. Tabris was my first and will always be my personal favourite origin
I'm here for the dwarf Wardens. 😎
The boons and epiloge stuff were all written with the possibility in mind that there was never going to be another game, so they would give some closure to the story and characters.
I wish we had more on Surana because I played a Warden Surana and he is my personal favorite run through of the game. I love him so much but have so little! It hurts!
Always possible to make your own backstory for Surana Warden. The game gives you some pointers and you can run with them ;)
Man, I love the Tabris origin so much but it's heart wrenching how hard it is to give the Alienage a halfway decent ending 😓
I'd love to see some game way down the line where you play as the the Warden or Alistair's adoptive child (depending on whether or not your warden died or romanced someone)
Could be fun.
If you romanced someone:
Morrigan: Well ... we know how this works out.
I presume she was 19-21 during "Song")
it is my personal belief that Adaia died escaping the prison, putting the City elf at between 13 and 16 when she passed.
- Gave 10 healing potions to a woman in Lothering
- Gave some traps to a woman in Lothering.
- Told the barmaid to leave Lothering.
- Defended Redcliff (everyone survived)
- Saved the circle of magi and the mages.
Origins will forever be my favorite video game
I do love your spoiler videos. Gives me more and more insight in the Dragon Age world.
If the Warden Cousland lives, the Grey Wardens get Ameranthine from Fergus, who gives it to them.
Only played origins a long time ago
Recently decided to replay it and finish the trilogy while im at it
Really happy i found your channel
Thanks for the great videos
give us origin stories again bioware!
but this is am amazing and in depth video! well worth the wait!
I wish tabris had as much story involvement like cousland
Dear: Ghil
A Letters from A Heroes Of Ferelden Commander of The Grey DavidT Amell.
1) If he/she does not do the Dark ritual and dies
We see their casket alongside the other four wardens and two empty ones, with a small summary honoring them.
A cure for the calling you say?
I thought that it was already dead, dead and buried years ago with that cheesy song of theirs...
I just discovered your channel. Thank you. I love dragon age. My only complaint with the series is that I could not continue my warden story.
You gotta appreciate BioWare’s attention to detail when it comes to making sure a lot of the game can be left to player interpretation/creativity.
Although they do seem interesting, I’ve never really liked being a dwarf so this was really nice to watch.
Played a Dwarf Noble, and the new Warrior Caste House name was House Ademaris ❤
2. Thank you, I found the clips. In situations when the Warden isn't queen, Teagan indeed says that they will be returning soon.
Um, the epilogues are canon. They are in the game. The only way they would not be canon is if Bioware retcons some in DA4 as they have done with previous installments.
I feel like securing some land for the Dalish is an awesome thing but my favourite origin to play is city elf or mage.
I remember telling flemeth what about my brother and her response makes me think now that i have watched this video
I learn more every video 😊
So im about to start a let's play/ Walkthrough of Dragon Age. This helps so much.
Although, unlike others, I actually liked the start of DA2, it is much easier to roleplay if you have a starting point that is well detailed.
just started following you (like a week ago) excited to catch a video so early!
What I miss about orgins was the lack of restriction on gear if I played a mage and didn't have the arcane warrior specialization then you could upgrade your strength to equip a sword or armor it made more sense to me
Caitie, you and this video are awesome! keep up the excelent content! Hi from Mexico ;D
we do meet one member of our extended family as a mage the girl asking about traps and non poisoned ones is ment to be betheny which means we did meet part of our family again and there are hints that we were being watched by Hawke while there aswell
Can't we get dlc for the parents of the Cousland warden? That adventure sounds awesome
going back to the new circle of mages they make and name the tower in your dead mages honour they did plan to keep their word but due to the events that happened leading up to DAI they were forced to take sides in the new war between the mages and templars it is highly implied via little bits of lore that can be missed in DAI that they are the mages that are part of the Inquisition from the start as they see the planned return as a way to truly rewrite the way they are seen by the rest of the world and allow them to be more free than they have in the past
The warden will definitely be back. Hopefully in DA 4 but if not then in 5. And I think they will give a voice to the warden and if they want to keep them silent then they could easily make it to where your warden lost their voice during their adventure by means of magic or something
warden dies...
creates the same faced warden commander...
what...?
Good Odin, I need a path map for all of that. DAMN that is a lot of pathways. Thanks for doing all of that work. Got a sub from me!
Mistakes noticed in your video:
If Warden goes with Morrigan, it is stated they were seen falling out of a mirror in an Orlesian noble woman’s bathroom which caused a small scandalous rumor.
Love it @Ghil Dirthalen! Where do we sign your input to Bioware to give us our Warden for proper respect and closure? :)
Mahariel over anyone else because in the greater scheme of things, he/she has the most intimate implications to the whole lore behind the blight, grey wardens, ancient elves (eluvians mostly) and Flemythal
Also, if your warden was the dalish elf, Merrill will mention him/her several times throughout DA2 and you can guess that she had strong feelings toward Mahariel, maybe love him/her but never got the chance to express it. The end of the dalish origin also points to that, because Merrill will have a very sad look as you leave the camp with Duncan.
I just wish somehow we could tell Alistair that Duncan saw the beacon light, that he knows we didn’t fail him.
Anyone else not want their Warden to return in future games? I love my Tabris to death, and I'm concerned that they'd make her act really out of character whenever she came back, especially since Origins didn't have a personality system like DA2 did.
To be honest the Warden's personality can be easily summarized in the same categories as Hawke.
they can make it where you basically have a conversation between the hero and whoever the protaginist is.
In fact, we KNOW that the dwarf noble is canonical and dead if you don’t pick him
I always liked male City elf origin. underdog who beat Blight and lived to tell the tale.
