ABOUT UPROXX INDIE MIXTAPE:
Indie Mixtape is the go-to for all things indie music. We serve as a funnel to make sure that only the best music -- new and old -- is delivered directly to the people who care the most.
Indie is more than a music genre. It's a sensibility. The indie fan may be overlooked in our current cultural climate, but they're alive and well -- going to see live music, visiting art galleries, and prioritizing substance over facade. This is for you.
Ian McCulloch combines a Beatles number with a touch of Richie Valens - "La Bamba" ...clever. Ian McCulloch such a top songwriter and has done so much to produce such great music in many years given towards the industry, top musician forever!
+jamsee1 That was Will, to be fair.
+Joey Levenson Official Will is great as well. Echo & the Bunnymen are all great. Happy now?
"Twist and Shout" was originally done by The Top Notes. The Beatles version was the second cover of the song to be a hit (The first being the Isley Brothers' version).
I never noticed how close the song sounded to "La Bamba" until I heard this interesting version. It's also odd to hear EATBM sounding so...happy. XD
Great artist. Can't understand a damn this he's saying when he's not singing.
Just a bit of information: La Bamba is NOT a Richie Valens' song, it is a traditional Mexican song from the state of Veracruz. Everybody in Mexico knows it because it has always been popular not because of R. Valens. Actually, both songs are covers.
i love the drums of this cover, and i love too echo and the bunnymen
A good reminder of how great Pete was too. Sparse kit, rich rythm
dont think that is Pete. he went awol in America around this time. Pete always played a five peice kit....
That's Pete after his 'lost' year (1986)
Such a special show. Love it. I love all these "On Terrace" performances. The roof tops of houses in Britain are perfect for that.
My favourite drummer.... RIP Pete 🙌🏻💙🙏🏻😢
The Bunnymen were one of the best bands of the 1980's.
HA...not even close...
@@BiberandDolikson buenos eso hay que destacar de ellos
The best👍
at first i thought love will tear us apart again
Great band doing a great cover of a great song by another great band
THe Beatles was a cover ...
Written by guys in ANOTHER great band...takes greatness to recognize enduring greatness...must say though that the 'Ahhhhs' where no so great.
Its pretty Great lol
Love it ! Bunnymen style !
WOOW ! First time i see this performance, singing twist and shout . . . loveee echo and the B . . . !!
Love will tear us apart intro
This is the reason why Pete was a fucking machine on the drums…
We were visiting London when this happened. I was 18 and was with my folks and my brother.
Son genios los de ECHO, buen cover!
LMBO 😲
Love my bootleg of this!
Buenisimoooo!!!!
Badass!!!
its funny in 2024 Echo and the Bunnymen are my go to favorite band
How have I only just found this!?!?!?
Fantastic
You were trapped in hip hop hell.
Been looking to see them on the roof for years.
I love this band
ai mi corázon! muito boa essa versão!
Awesome cover!
bit of an oddity. Saw them dozens of times live in the 80s. Never less than brilliant. I do remember them doing the odd Beatles cover, especially at the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall in 85, when they were all suited up.
Did you ever see any of the older shows when they would dress in full camo? Having trouble finding any footage of those performances.
Were they wearing the camo Republican style or Ethical Cain Vinnel style?
❤
Muito bom! Gostei de verdade.
Pete, totally professional.
La Bamba.
Os cara são foda....palavra....na base..do Ritchie wallens....
@@rafaelsapucaia9906 la Bamba is a popular traditional Mexican song, NOT Richie Valens'.
Pete de Freitas seemed to be fine...he was a great drummer !!
Great song was televised in Mexico in the air tv Channel 7 Azteca Siete in the summer 1995
William Bradley is 1987
Footage is from 1987, but I remember what William says: it was shown daily in Mexico in 1995 in what is now Azteca 7, as part of a set of videos that was played during the morning hours.
Never seen this before
Brilliant !!! Best band ever
When was it recorded ? Thanks for your answers.
+Mylène Marti You're welcome.
Last night I watched The Beatles’ famous rooftop show for the first time because I was only 6 & couldn’t make the actual event but was reminded of Echo & The Bunnymen doing a 20th Anniversary performance atop a Virgin Megastore somewhere in England. This morning it appears this never actually happened. Is this proof of the alternate universe theory ? 😐❤️
Wow, I have never seen this before. Is there any more?
ian sos un angel caído del cieloooo
The Greatest.
Great guitar playing
Bela homenagem...os cara do echo & the bunnymen,São foda...canta muito
São fodas. Mas o Ian não canta porra nenhuma.
peculiar
divine rooftop intervention♤♡♧◇
The eighties.
Good!!!
Better than the beatles.
And bigger than Jesus
Haha,nope
well I thought it was boss naysayers,it was done as a throwaway as they were on the roof of hmv as the beatles were on apple ,so get over it they ruled the 80's without a single doubt, yes we all love the beatles, but hey....... this was the friggin 80's la
too crazy
Gran canción escrita por Phil Medley y Bert Russell, cuyo título inicial fue "Shake It Up Baby", y más tarde sirvió de inspiración a The Beatles. La versión de Echo and the Bunnymen es buena....aunque prefiero la de The Beatles, grabada en Los Estudios Abbey Road el 11 de febrero de 1963.
Fun!
delivered in mac and the bands singular way, perfection.
Better than the original
1:26 Pete de Freitas R.I.P
Not too keen on this version, but nice to see the footage nonetheless.
Why hasn't this been released on an LP?
Why is everyone hating on them
what
Shame there's only the one camera angle as there's as second camera on a tripod looking across the stage for the close ups on the left.
Did they perform any other song? Don't tell they climbed up the roof, set up all that gear and only sang this one song?
EATB... :)
Les before he lost the plot with his motorbike.
au moins Will Sergeant n'a pas besoin de lunettes de soleil, alors que les deux autres sont défoncés
That was a bit cheeky.... but it is passable
Hmm that's it?
Fun to see this after all these years of hearing about it. But bands playing on roofs just seems idiotic to me, even The Beatles.
so much better than the beatles
I agree, and I ain't drunk
+Eduardo bracamonte alvarez But it is actually an Isley Brothers tune.
Nope.
The Beatles sing it better in my opinion.
i dont like the beatles but, youre right
Not a very good song regardless of who is singing it.
I love this group, but this is awful.
Allan Carpenter I must agree.
Right you are.
I didn't think it was possible to fuck up Twist and Shout.
'Saw you at the Grammys- with a MoP and bucket LoL.
Yikes! This blows!
I love the band, but this is really a poor cover.
fuckin horrible., it is amazing how people paint stuff as brilliant, when a lot of stuff is just utter garbage. Art can be criticized as it should be; like Picasso, utter Bantha fodder
Art can be criticized? I never knew that. I thought art was supposed to be accepted without comment.
Works of art presented for public consumption may be subject to criticism, but a response to a work of art wherein the author does not back up their opinion with an explanation of what lead them to that opinion is a rant rather than a true critique.
oh god. Please stop.
Very cheesy doing something that's been done before!
The Beatles sucked.
Sure they were pioneers, but they sucked. It's basically akin to Henry Ford designing the first mass-produced automobile, and it was a Trabant or an AMC Pacer.
+TheSchadenfreuda Aw. Someone has an opinion.
Haha no lol, but hey, that's your opinion bro (or sis??), peace and love to you 😎✌️♥️🌻
❤
Muito bom! Gostei de verdade.
