At 56 growing up with this music and likes of souxie , the cure , the smiths , killing joke , house Martin's etc ... ! I'm still a musician and am playing with a lot of younger guys and girls now who think their music is the bomb , sorry the eighties world wide created so many iconic acts that no one can hold a candle to even now !
The 80s were a magical decade to grow up in. This has been said a million times on UA-cam, but it's just so damn true. If you lived it, you get it. If you didn't, maybe you can catch a small piece through the music.
+Infinite Shandy Not really I grew up in the 80's graduated in 88. Most of the music sucked, some was good like Peter Gabriel and a few others. But the great music came from the 60's and 70's.
Psychologitron The 60s and 70s had amazing music to be sure. I think our generation had a healthy respect for the music of our parents, unlike more current generations that seem to be largely disconnected from / disinterested in tradition. In the 80s, a surprising diversity of genres blended together to create a fun atmosphere.
Echo & The Bunnymen have so many amazing tracks. Truly underrated in the pantheon of great 80s bands. Lips like sugar. The killing moon. Seven Seas. The Cutter. Bring on the dancing horses. Songs to the soundtrack of my life.
There’s a HUGE demand and market for this style of edgy music today. We need many new artists to write in this mode. It would be well received! Cheers.
Tenho 57 anos.
I'm a millennial and discovered this song in my teens and enjoy listening to it wherever, the radio station played it. This song is amazing! So glad to be introduce to this song in my teens.
This to me sounds like the 80's and everything I miss about them without getting overtly nostalgic. I ❤️ this song 🎵: the vibe from his voice, words and delivery.
I bought this BRAND NEW on a cassette tape just after hearing this song on WXRT 93.1 so long ago I can't remember. I still have the cassette tape and it works very good. I laughing just thinking about it. I used to day dream of a Girl with Sugar Kisses. I'm over 64 , I will keep listening to this till my end of time. Enjoy People, ENJOY!
80's absolutely were special times. Punk, new wave, alternative, beginnings of electro...so good. Listened to 99.1 WHFS, Annapolis, Baltimore, Washington. So good.
Ahhhhh the 80’s!!!! Sure was good times back then and man oh the music was like no other, dancing wasn’t in a line or twerking .. nothing wrong with either mind you, just when we danced to this particular genre the floating feeling of your body moving to the sound was freeing… damn now I want a clove cigarette like badly!!!
They still sound fresh. Their videos are on point too. I'm 37, too young to have really cared about them the first time around but old enough to feel I should have discovered their music sooner.
Echo and the Bunnymen, one of the most underrated bands of the 1980's. Up there with Adam and the Ants, Sparks, DEVO, Midnight Oil, Pet Shop Boys, ABC, XTC, and The Cult.
What a beautiful deep haunting voice echoing from the 80's. Beckoning me back to a wonderful time in music. So magical, it never fails to cast it's spell over me.
What can I say about this great track..... This is ECHO AND THE BUNNYMEN at their peak! Will's guitar, Pete's drumming and Ian's Vocals are simply brilliant! How I miss this 1980's Liverpool sound!
Key word there... "Almost". There are a steady supply of NEW bands in recent years showcasing the 80's New Wave influences. Because IT IS indeed a "timeless" sound bands like Capital City, M83, Knox Hamilton, Crystal Castle's stunning "Not in Love" (featuring The Cure's Robert Smith) and Spandau Ballet-esque and unabashedly 80's NEW band St. Lucia "Walking on Broken Glass". There are plenty of 80's infused bands out there like Ok Go "Writings on the Wall", Coleman Hell "2 Heads", Joywave and of course everybody knows about The Killers and Neon Trees. While the greatest decade since the 50's may be over, I am thrilled to know that the 80's has branded itself on the these next gen bands. Suffice to say... the 80's will never die.
I was at the Greek in Berkeley 1987. Echo and the Bunnymen, New Order, and Gene Loves Jezebel. Fantastic show. All heavy rotation on KQAK "The Quake" and KITS "Live 105" Great period of time for music.
Lets remember the late drummer for Echo. Peter Louis Vincent de Freitas.. Performed on their first five albums.. Died in a motorcycle accident in 1989 at the age of 27. So very sad.. But his drumming lives on..
Wow. Another “27.” I was born in 1960, and this was my music. Wouldn’t trade it for the world. I highly recommend buying & reading Gene Simmons’ (yes, of KISS) book called simply “27.” And read “Weird Scenes Inside the Canyon.”
One of the greatest bands from a great decade. I was born in 1953, LOVED the 60's, HATED the 70's, and then all of a sudden there was great music again! Damn shame NONE of this stuff got played on American radio!
@@StanwoodSpartans Pretty much 9/10th's of the stuff that has mistakenly been referred to as "classic rock" (biggest misnomer ever!) for the last 50 years or so. Bombastic arena bands of all shapes, sizes and varieties, "sensitive" singer=songwriters (with the exception of Joni, Van, and Nick Drake), country-rock, Barry Manilow, Olivia Newton John, disco, heavy metal wanking and misogyny (with the exception of the first bunch of Blue Oyster Cult records that were more high powered garage band rock than the "pointless guitar solos" h/m party all night variety of moronic excess). But what I LIKED about the 70's never even got a chance to be heard, particularly in the USA: Flamin' Groovies; Artful Dodger; Fairport Convention; Big Star; Blue Ash; New York Dolls; Brinsley Schwarz; Ducks Deluxe; Daddy Cool; Linda Lewis; Richard Thompson; Sandy Denny' Steeleye Span; and then the NY scene that gave birth to Blondie, the Ramones, Patti Smith, Television, and Talking Heads....more on request.

This song is one of my favorites by Echo & The Bunnymen, that guitar sound made me cry and Ian's way of dancing is totally eighties.
they have such an amazing sound from the guitar work to Ian's voice, it's special.
Great band. Great song. I miss the 80's.
This song gets me very single time... No one like Echo & the Bunnymen!
Seen them in the Glasgow barrowland in 84 , brilliant concert what fantastic band , who o loved then
At 56 growing up with this music and likes of souxie , the cure , the smiths , killing joke , house Martin's etc ... ! I'm still a musician and am playing with a lot of younger guys and girls now who think their music is the bomb , sorry the eighties world wide created so many iconic acts that no one can hold a candle to even now !
Siouxsie
@Disband from youtube wait, what?
Preach !!!
@censortubenaut cringe
@censortubenaut very true
I was young in the 80s. This song makes me feel young again.
This song solidified itself as an 80’s anthem. Ian McCulloch kills it on vocals. So many great times partying to this song back in the day. 😎🤙🏾✌🏾
That guitar solo got me right in the gothic part of my heart i never new I had
Echo! You would just adore my big brother Mikey,,,check him out on my channel
the best poetry in the guise of a comment ever been gave to the internets...Thanx Erika. You make my day.
Gibson's Jazz Master ?
That Tone...
That part is my fave.....
Will Sergeants a guitar hero for 1980s Post-punk
The 80's were awesome! To be a teen in the 80's was awesome... ...I know.
I knew then what I know now, and I would live my life over again if I could.
Doing some late shopping at Walmart and this banger was playing.
Makes you wanna go find another shopper and start dancing in the chip isle.
Infinite Shandy Poison, Cinderlla etc etc...they just sucked. The whold galm thing was embarrasing.
Psychologitron Every decade has its crappy music. MTV facilitated the cheesier side of the 80s...and I wouldn't change a thing.
***** I always hated it, never seemed fab to me at all. I was and still am into Zeppelin, Floyd etc etc. Way better than Swisted Tister.
Echo & The Bunnymen have so many amazing tracks. Truly underrated in the pantheon of great 80s bands. Lips like sugar. The killing moon. Seven Seas. The Cutter. Bring on the dancing horses. Songs to the soundtrack of my life.
We had so much great music flowing through the 80's.
Magical. Oh Kim Christie..how i miss you!!!
There’s a HUGE demand and market for this style of edgy music today. We need many new artists to write in this mode. It would be well received! Cheers.
Agreed! The "rappin" style crap is worn out and old...80's rules, rap drools
Let's just sit back and appreciate the special telent displayed here what a time to be alive
WooHoo! I’m 63 and still listening
64 & finally saw them May 2024 Brooklyn NY!!! Great concert!! Acoustics were awesome
me too!
Same here MrFightinghellfish, I wish I could go back to the 80’s it was the best time of my life I want to do it all over again.❤️
Tenho 57 anos.
When this song comes on the radio, it is my duty to notify everyone in traffic.
That is fucking rude and I would call the police and have you arrested for noise ordinance violation if I saw you.
You live in a place where this comes on the radio!?!?! Wow!
@@cellblocknine5385 hilarious!
@@magcarb5489
There's other radio than terrestrial. 🤷
@@magcarb5489 it’s called Sirius
This song was my and my doggo's road trip anthem. Summertime, head out the window, just us. RIP Blacky
Aw, I’m so sorry for the loss of your buddy. Fare thee well, Blacky.
I'm a millennial and discovered this song in my teens and enjoy listening to it wherever, the radio station played it. This song is amazing! So glad to be introduce to this song in my teens.
You're looking in the right genre of music, even if it wasn't during your younger years.😎
This to me sounds like the 80's and everything I miss about them without getting overtly nostalgic.
XRT still plays the song. 😆
it was impossible for the 80s to produce anything but awesome music and movies......greatest time to be a teenager!!
Absolutely listening now. Remembering my true loves lips.
Saw them last night at a gig in Bexhill - They looked & sounded great! Great '80's band!
Lucky duck!
My style of music from my generation (X), damn how I miss the 80's.
me too. I wanna go back to the 80's
me too
Same here!
same
Victor Castro same Gen-X
80's absolutely were special times. Punk, new wave, alternative, beginnings of electro...so good. Listened to 99.1 WHFS, Annapolis, Baltimore, Washington. So good.
Listen to 92.3 here in New Jersey where they guarantee 2 minutes of commercials. Unlike other stations that goes beyond that time
2020 and miss this all the more! glad we can share the music online
KROQ Rock of the 80's here.
Loved Weasel!
Dont forget trash metal as well.
80's music is the best era. These classics are timeless!
So is 90s and early 2000s music as well tho
One of the best bands and songs from the magical ‘80’s! So many memories tied to this one......
They still sound fresh. Their videos are on point too. I'm 37, too young to have really cared about them the first time around but old enough to feel I should have discovered their music sooner.
enjoy the brilliance!
Same here. Maybe it’s because 80’s music was all around us from 0-5 years old so it’s hardwired into our subconscious.
Love that voice...
Echo and the Bunnymen, one of the most underrated bands of the 1980's. Up there with Adam and the Ants, Sparks, DEVO, Midnight Oil, Pet Shop Boys, ABC, XTC, and The Cult.
Undies!
@@nomennudum5270Lol. Stealing that phrase 😆
And the Cure.
William H. Baird and the bassist
Les was incredible!
Ian Cisneros here...just saying...woooo
"Ocean Rain" album was them at their peak.
The Fab Four from Liverpool ?
Echo was the best in genre. Haunting, original, beautiful.
Yes. ❤
Too bad this type of music has almost disappeared it has A BEAUTIFUL sound And is Timeless.
+Eddie Miller It is too bad. Most of the music today sucks, I can't stand the radio I play digital or CD's.
+pagansforbreakfast I don't agree. Kids standards have dropped off immensely. Good music is still being made, but payola caters to kids now.
+pagansforbreakfast whoa that's ignorant
+Bob Lorek You nailed it. It's there but just harder to find.
One of the songs that defined the eighties music scene extremely well.
My uncle used to listen to them all the time. He got me hooked.
I was at the Greek in Berkeley 1987. Echo and the Bunnymen, New Order, and Gene Loves Jezebel. Fantastic show. All heavy rotation on KQAK "The Quake" and KITS "Live 105" Great period of time for music.
This music is still awesome.........in 2021!!!!!!!!
also in 2022!!!
And 2022 what u think in we're not with / this is music/ real music 😎😎😎😎
2022.
And 2022! 😊
Still in 2022
Lets remember the late drummer for Echo. Peter Louis Vincent de Freitas.. Performed on their first five albums.. Died in a motorcycle accident in 1989 at the age of 27. So very sad.. But his drumming lives on..
He would be 62 now like me.
Wow. Another “27.”
I was born in 1960, and this was my music. Wouldn’t trade it for the world. I highly recommend buying & reading Gene Simmons’ (yes, of KISS) book called simply “27.”
And read “Weird Scenes Inside the Canyon.”
@@reagonowmix As in Laurel Canyon? Sounds interesting.
I was quite upset when I heard of Pete's death. He was a great drummer and I was lucky enough to see him drum with this brilliant band. RIP Peter.
One of the greatest bands from a great decade. I was born in 1953, LOVED the 60's, HATED the 70's, and then all of a sudden there was great music again! Damn shame NONE of this stuff got played on American radio!
What did you not like about the 70s ???
You listened to the wrong station
@@jayflynn2701 Didn't listen to ANY stations at all after around 1969 or so since I pretty much couldn't stand ANY of the "hits" in the post-"Sgt. Pepper" world of spurious socio-significance and was just waiting for something, anything, to rid the world of 70's "classic rock" which I consider to be the biggest misnomer in history. Hey, you might have heard some "new wave" in NYC or Cleveland or SF, but it damn sure wasn't being played in western NC where I was living!
Joy division, the clash, the jam, sex pistols, bob Marley, slade, the specials, madness, the beat, blondie, even rod Stewart was great then . echo comes the70's as do dexys.
They have to be in any 80’s collection. Sound production vocals great! I won’t spend all day contemplating all their lyrics. Just good music
what a majical time. Everything was better than , music, movies people and the pureness of it all, tons of friends.
This still makes me so happy inside! I dance in my office!! I saw them in concert summer of 1987 with gene loves jezabel and New order!! 5 row center!! Epic night!!
Nice!

Classic 80's , loved every bit of it.
I'm 35, and I lucked out that I grew up listening to a lot of these great bands: Echo & The Bunnymen, Siouxsie and The Banshees, Joy Division, Cruxshadows, Bauhaus - for a long time I didn't know the band names, I just was a little kid listening to cassette tapes having a grand time.
Love that 80's guitar tone.
These lyrics are super and his timbre powerful. Such a stunning band🎶❤️
Echo and the Bunnymen, gran banda, una de las mas adelantadas de la epoca de los 80's,rock progresivo y alternativo 🎸👌 👍
