What is to say Toriyama would have even been involved in Chrono Break if it had moved forward? He wasn't involved in Cross. For all we know they would have gone with a new art team again that differentiated it from both Trigger and Cross.
Honestly, I don't think it's necessary to make a new Chrono game. Sometimes a series needs to die. The core creators behind Trigger have moved on to other things (Xenoblade, Dragon Quest). And Toriyama unfortunately passed. In my opinion, I'm not interested in seeing the series diluted by outsiders unless absolutely necessary. The dream team made it what it is. However, this doesn't mean that Chrono fans can never get a similar experience. Radiant Historia is amazing at covering the time travel things. Suikoden had more characters and cooler magic than Cross. The core combat system of Trigger has been recaptured in games like Sea of Stars. You just need to have an open mind if you want Chrono-like experiences.
But those AREN'T Chrono games. Lol I get you though and the suikoden series IS my personal favorite jrpg series overall. I just want chrono but I've accepted that it will probably never happen and if it did by some miracle I wouldn't have my hopes too high.
@@luvlybalugacombat in sea of stars wasn't my biggest issue with it; it was the garbage writing. Garl being the hero in every situation despite having no powers was insufferable. If he was supposed to be an analog to the player then they failed spectacularly unless you were a fat overly positive lame ass
But there was a spiritual successor to the Chrono series. It's called Another Eden: The Cat Beyond Time and Space, and it's a mobile gacha game with microtransactions and a terrible pc port.
I see vids like this, and my heart breaks. SE won't come back to this. They base this decision off of the release of the DS version which saw poor sales. CT is my favorite game of all time and i'd LOVE a new game, remake etc etc, but it will never happen. SE won't take the risk
yeah that's one of chrono cross's flaws. it's a very flawed game, whereas chrono trigger is perfect, absolutely flawless, like a diamond. but chrono cross is also more ambitious, more mature, and smarter than chrono trigger, and it's absolutely beautiful in its art and its music. so i love both, i'm very particularly fond of cross, but trigger is a staggering achievement, that they could make a game that long and epic and without a single flaw.
This guy gets it. Cross would've been a fine standalone game, but it tried to ride Trigger's coattails. It's very much different from Trigger. The art is different, the character roster is a bloated mess, no airship, inferior combat system. It's less Back to the Future and more Fringe, even having a dead kid being the difference between the two dimensions. Should've just called it Dimension Cross
@@JasonQuestsit's world literally exists because of the careless decisions chrono and his friends made when trying to defeat Lavos. It's directly related. If it were a standalone game that would have been fine but it made complete sense for it to be related. No riding of coattails like you claim
tell me about xenogear then....😭😭. The story of the Chrono saga was fully explained at the end of Chrono Cross..., that's not the case with the Xenogear story...., also Xenogear was an unfinished game that desserved so much that what it got....
Rest in Peace Akira Toriyama 👊

Non of those games come close to CT. Sea of Stars is no where NEAR the combat of Trigger.
@@luvlybaluga This is the "indie" dev way. Make some bold ass claims that are always bogus.
@@derekr3895 They never said they were making a spiritual successor to CT. They were just inspired by it. Huge difference. Why so bitter?

I've never heard of that 😳 sounds fucking awful
@@VaporGuyit's very cool in concept. In execution, not so much...
I would easily choose a new Chrono game over Half-Life 3 no shade to half life but CT is one of my favorite games of all time
Same here...I just doubt it will ever happen unfortunately
Could not get into Chrono Cross, but more power to its fans.
Dude if u keep doing ur thing it is a matter of time till your channel blow up.
Good job.
Thank you very much 😊 thats really kind and it does mean a lot I appreciate you and I'm glad you enjoyed the video

I know but even a smaller game financial like octopath...id take that over nothing
@VaporGuy don't get me wrong, i would too. I just don't think SE would ever do it
I hate crono cross. Yeah lets have 100 characters with no flushed out story instead of 6 great characters with a flushed out story.

The core characters were fleshed out. Same with suikoden. There are 108 party members with varying degrees of depth but the main cast was great

It doesn't have 100 characters. The number is a bit excessive but it was designed to give players freedom and ways to effect multiple endings

I almost made a xenogears or xenosaga vid instead of this one lol
