FYI Spekkio’s look is dependent totally on the party leader’s level. If you want to see Spekkio as a frog, then you simply keep Crono below level 10 before reaching the End of Time the first time.
I knew about 6 of these. The game crashing ones and the tech duplicates I didn't realize. I've played and loved this game for nearly 25 years of my life. This is the perfect game in my eyes
Thank you for this tip. Just started Chrono Trigger today on steam. The Guardian boss was hard but I managed to "breakdown" it. Tomorrow I'm going to Proto Dome and find Robo. 😊
I’m just starting this video. I’m betting I know all of what you’re about to tell me. When the video is finished, I’ll come back and state which, if any, of the facts you are about to present, were new to me. Either way, I’ll bet that I’m about to love this trip down memory lane! *EDIT* I’m back. Here’s what I have to say: This is me eating my words! My hat’s off to you, bro. I did NOT know a single thing that you told us in your video! Color me impressed! I thought I knew almost everything about *Chrono Trigger* as it is one of my favorite games of all time! You not only taught me these 10 things, but you also taught me a lesson in humility. It looks like I need to dig deeper into my favorite game. Seriously, thank you. This was a lot of fun, for me. Very impressive! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I only knew about the Frog Spekkio. It got to a point I had to run from every encounter, and the R series boss still almost pushed me over the level threshhold.
I’m playing this game and close to beating it. I can see the multiple endings taking place. This game is wildly diverse for its time. Glad I have it in the collection.
@@cherokeefit4248 Hey! Just ordered from DKoldies this morning lol it was just marked for 350 recently so had to get it for 300. What ya think of DKoldies? I just built my dream collection and some were from them. Just got secret of mana and label is like brand new, Mario kart too! There expensive but they got what ya need
@@jax597 I hope they still work as the battery and edge connectors are getting old and rough. I cherish my games and even have duplicates and triples of certain games. Hang on to them. I need to beat Mario rpg and lufia 2 and have them in the collection
As a veteran of the game, and casual speed runner, I am impressed that I did not know about the last one. I vaguely remember a graphical glitch on ps1 hardware when you go to "save" Marle with just Crono. One of the battles on the left side of the forest upon defeating an enemy the sprite will glitch out during the fanfare portion and show Luca's sprite using enemies pallet next to or inside one of the bushes. I think I looked it up years ago and found an explanation but I could be totally wrong.
I knew about frog Spekkio, so I guess this is 9 things I didn't know. Compared to my past experience with videos that promise to tell me things I didn't know about a video game or something I adore, a score of 9/10 easily stands on top of the rest.
There were at least 8 things I didn't know. Encounter skips are always useful. Even if you're playing casually it is better to be able to pick and choose which battles you want to fight.
It took me until speedrunning to learn that some encounters require line of sight and if they never see you, you can run past! Tons of fun neat little things
I remember on my first playthrough of Chrono trigger when it released back in 95 i avoided combat a lot since i had never played a game like that and found it a bit underhwleming compared to games like zelda so i encountered a frog in the end of time when fighting spekkio. After completing the game and loving combat by then i played through it again and found it odd i never encountered that frog again but now it makes sense.
On the snes you hit the X button. On pc there's an option when you go to the menu that says party and you can swap them out that way. DS I think is the same but I've never touched that version
@@Bdewd i remember the first time i played chrono trigger i didn't realize you could swap party members in the menu until i got all the way to black omen. god, that was so embarrassing when i finally figured that out
Frog Spekkio = lvs 1 to 10v but MOST players myself included will likely have Crono at lv 12 ALL others at lv 11 so that you can't fight it I also NEVER leveled to lv 99 to fight its Pink NU form either.
Yeah, and by the time you are level 99 and have those 10 of each type of tabs/capsules, you're already strong enough to take down Lavos. So it's basically just not worth it in the end.
“All life begins and ends with a NU…” or something like that. It’s a diary entry from one of the wisemen in Zeal. sure enough, NU is the only character present in all time periods
Sometimes not always useful but I find it fun to learn how games work mechanically. Most of these lists are lore and secrets so tryna break that mold a little bit

You should do something worth commenting on like taking your negative attitude and shoving up your ass. That would give you an ounce of importance in your sad existence. Those are indeed ten things I did not know about Chrono Trigger, a game that I have never played!
Your loss
I only knew about the Frog Spekkio. It got to a point I had to run from every encounter, and the R series boss still almost pushed me over the level threshhold.
We see him in the speedruns due to a specific route we take. But its a decently fine line to stay under 10 due to boss exp alone
Video should've been titled 10 lesser known speedrunning tips and glitches
Well thats not a very catchy title at all!
Always do the low level spekio as you want as many tabs as you can.
Faster to charm enemies for tabs
I’m playing this game and close to beating it. I can see the multiple endings taking place. This game is wildly diverse for its time. Glad I have it in the collection.

You mentioned some funny bugs. Which version are you of CT are you playing? Everyone was saying the PC version is especially buggy.
This is the snes version. Pc version has had some updates and such but honestly don't know a lot about it
The PC version is still currently fine though.
Interesting trivia!! I knew some of these, but it’s certainly nice to get a deeper look into speedrunning type tricks.
Great video
Def learned quite a bit. Go you!

fun fact: you can skip every single encounter in lab 16 through shortcuts/long routes
I mean that's basically what I showed except instead of long routes you can use text box stacking. Didnt show the last screen but its very simple

I don’t skip encounters I meet them head on. 😏
Dont skip battles, thats good xp 😜
Most of the big skips aren't worth much, like the starting birds for example
@Bdewd I feel they are because you can have a higher level earlier in game. Always helped for me anyway
Hell yeah

"lesser known facts" and then doesnt show any facts or trivial, just speedtroon glitches. Awful.
If I know even one of these I'm going to just unsub and then resub >:(
Ah heck the pressure!
Basically all speedrunner facts. Also, I can tell this guy is Canadian due to the Aboat pronunciation. Doesn't mean anything, just sayin'.
Aww man is it that obvious. Time to practice sounding less canadian in the mirror before the next one haha
