    Couldn't agree more. I had a 350 Meteor for 3 years, bought a 650 Super Meteor and swapped back to a new 350 Bullet. Those 350 J series engines are sweet. There's a group of us retired fogeys meet at The Old Stores every Friday morning. Most of us have got Harleys and we've all bought Royal Enfields as well. We're off on an Enfield trip in July to The Ardennes and Germany. Who says the 350's can't tour? Too old to camp now (I wouldn't be able to get up off the ground!!) we're sharing rooms in cheap hotels. Bring it on!!! 😁

      Nice one. Don’t blame you on the hotel front. I don’t mind a night in a tent but a few in a row and I’d be too knackered to enjoy the riding I think. 😅

    Its difficult to quantify why this bike gives so much pleasure to those who ride it, so i wont try.
    Just ride one and see. Magical.

      Nice to hear, I just purchased a bullet myself. I went with the standard black, to me it looked the most classical of the 3 colours. I got mine from the parramatta store. They had all 3 colours on the floor to compare. They also had 1 classic and a Meteor 350, but the bullet just feels and looks right to me. I’m in my 40’s and have been riding since 18. I find the smaller bikes give me more joy now. Where did you get yours and what colour?

    Glad you love your Classic! What an awesome part of the country you live, superb scenery to ride through! I'm in West Sussex, a month ago I traded my Street Triple 675 for a brand new Bullet, and I am loving it! I've done over 700 miles running it in already and completed the first service myself with a non mechanical aptitude as the J series 350 engines are so simple, but reliable! I commute all year round & have 2 carriageway sections but the bike is a joy to ride and I'll never look back! Ride safe 👍😎

    Totally agree , I live in southern Austria , and my Bronze 350 Classic is just perfect for the type of riding I do , I pop over the Plockenpass into Italy , and have been up Grossglockner a couple of times and it handles it all with ease , I have bigger bikes , but the classic gets used the most , good video , I love Wales , I have relatives in West Wales , Tregaron,Ceredigion , and I was there in September , great roads but sadly no bike !

    Amen to that. Passed my bike test at 56, bought a very sensible mid-sized sports tourer that was easily capable of gobbling high miles at high speed - but found it all quite dull. Traded it for a Classic 350 autumn last year for all the same reasons. Great for some simple B roading around my own head 👌

    I feel exactly the same about my Meteor 350. I test rode the Himalayan 450 whilst I was having my bike serviced and its a great bike but riding the Meteor home its just different and its hard to put into words why its just so special. Whilst I have the Meteor any of the 350's would get the same response. I only chose the Meteor as it was a special deal at £3300 on the road. I use this bike not only for a Sunday morning bimble but for touring aswell.

    I absolutely adore my Halcyon green 350 as well. Just a perfect bike for back roads, as you say. Stunning looks and remarkably good off road capabilities for what kind of bike it is. To me, paved roads are just a means of transport to get to the gravel paths.😂
    However, living in the countryside of the middle of Sweden, distances can stretch out quite a bit and 200-300 miles in a day is pretty common when I'm out riding. The 350 will do it, no question, but there's just that gnawing feeling when you're doing 50-60 constantly. That's just not really what it's built for. So, I jumped with joy once the 650 was finally announced and I'm now eagerly awaiting the delivery of my red and white beauty in March/April. It's not a replacement for the 350, but a complement.
    Cheers.

And the design of the 650 seems to be a tad off it does not look coherent as a 350 is now. I wouldn't like the new LED lights anyway it's a mistake for classics.

    Motorcycling is all about luxury in the UK. Most "bikers" have a car and only use their motorcycles for fun. It must be nice to be rich so you can afford that. It seems you are doing great after Brexit. Good for you. I started riding on motorcycles in 1978 because I could not afford a car. I got rid of it when I got married and we got a car. Now I don't need a car anymore and got a motorcycle instead. The Royal Enfields are very expensive here where I live in the EU and cannot really compete with proper Japanese motorcycles. RE are probably using the UK as a test market.

    • @thatwelshman4518
      @thatwelshman4518  Місяць тому

      The weather has a lot to do with it here. 5 months of the year riding in the UK is mostly unpleasant or dangerous so yea most people have a bike as a luxury item because a car usually takes priority. The cost of living has increased rapidly here though and I think that contributes to why RE are doing so well here, they’re actually a fair bit cheaper than Japanese bikes to buy in the UK.
