I think the only reason she pulled the glass out was because she knew she couldn't hide a glass injury like that when she had to get dressed up. It would poke the clothing and make it obvious that there was something in there. And that in turn would make Sang-woo know instantly that she got injured which would make him try and kill her that much sooner because he'd see her as an easy target. The only reason she pulled it out and tried to continue like that is because of that reason, she didn't want anyone to know she was hurt and hiding an injury like that with the glass poking out was not possible. I think it actually worked too because I don't think Sang-woo realized she was injured at all until Gi-hun screamed for help at the door, which gave him a chance to do what he did. Since the reactor is reacting to all the medical scenes, I'm assuming he's seen the entire series.

For the kicking injury: My principal told the whole school this story to stop kids from fighting. One day, two friends made a bet and started a fight over it. One kid hit the other in the stomach. He went home after school and died in his sleep due to Internal bleeding. This is what I thought of when watching this scene. I didn’t realize how dangerous fights were until I realized one hit from a 12 year old could literally kill you. Moral of the story, don’t fight, especially if it’s against your friend. :|
It's what 'Sad Story (Out of Luck)' by Merk and Kremont is about. Not the exact story, just how easily you can kill someone with pointless fights, and how it can ruin the rest of your life, just because you got cocky.

Propofol is also used in more minor procedures, such as spinal steroid injection, limb manipulation as it is relatively short acting. With regards to general anaesthesia propofol is often the sedative of choice, in conjunction with paralytics such as suxamethonium, or roccuronium, and pain killers such as fentanyl. These are syandard pre surgical induction. In emergency RSI though the drug choice relates to the patient's presentation.

The one thing that threw me off, from a medical perspective, is that, if when in the van you get anesthesia gassed, and another person gets in and another gas goes off, wouldn't it also affect the already unconscious players, thus overdosing them, as there is not enough ventilation for the gas to get out?
@@Conorator I don't think that's what they mean. Lets say the 1st person to get in the van is drugged with whatever the gas is (probably some sort of anaesthetic) if 3 more people get in there's 3 more doses of that gas for the 1st person thus leading to them being way-overdosed. So it doesn't make sense how they all wake up at the same and time and feel alright and have no headaches or feel unwell.
The surgery scene wasn’t a joke. Look up Korean ghost surgery. People are scheduled to have surgeries with specific surgeons but they aren’t the ones who end up doing it. Likely why the doctor needs money now which is why the guy was mocking him.
The true genius of the squid game is the emotions and personal connections. You get to know these players and want to root for them. Just to have to face loosing them. Edit: after reading all the comments all I have to say is "who hurt you" I have watched plenty of anime and survival movies/books. And sometimes everyone dies but one and sometimes there are main group of players that end up surviving. I was hoping that it was the later. That the whole group would survive and come out the victor Because up to that point only individuals or groups were up against each other. It was a huge surprise to me that they had to go up against each other and by that point I had already created emotional connections to the main group of people. Also just because I go into movies leaving all past experiences behind isn't a bad thing. It means I see the movie for what it is not through your boring lens of 'seen this before' nah I get to see it raw. Second edit: I also meant the acting that went behind those emotions as well. It was some of the best acting. I was impressed.
It’s not genius it’s just kinda annoying After a point you stop connecting to characters cause you know they’re gonna die, which is why I don’t watch shows like these “Hey new character, wonder how long she’ll last” Just desensitizes you to it all really
Fun Fact: If you pay attention, the old man, player 001, actually speaks slower as the episodes continue because his brain tumor is in progress. (Doctor Friendsㅋㅋ)
4:47 we can see the last people in the team might have hit the ground from like a 4 meter difference plus that didnt look very fast. and theresalso the part of the rope breaking the fall. some people can survive from that, they surely can. they wouldnt if the rope just got out of them and they went flying to the ground. with that momentum they could splash into each other and maybe land on their head
0:58 Hey Mike! Since they passed out that fast I'm assuming they're using Sevoflurane, or Desflurane. Both are halogen agents commonly used for sedation, could be a million things but the effects usually arent that sudden unless its one of the two above, Sevoflurane or Desflurane. Hope this helps!! :))
Thanks, I was wondering too! Also, the first thing I thought when I saw that scene . . . shouldn't the first person in the car be at a super high risk for fatal overdose, since they get dosed over and over again every time a new person gets in the car?
@@lunathompson-aue1968 I would assume so, Sevoflurane/Desflurane intoxication can lead to many side effects, most of which can be fatal, so I think they would most likely die or at least have severe side effects.
@@crazyfriend50 At first i thought about that too, but chloroform gas is harmful to the eyes, liver, and skin, meaning the people in the car first would likely overdose and would be yellow from jaundice by the time they got to the games.

Literally, as she pulled out the glass, I was like "DOCTOR MIKE WOULD TELL YOU TO LEAVE THAT IN STOP IT"
That’s exactly what I thought at the time too, I screamed at her to leave it.
Same
I think the only reason she pulled the glass out was because she knew she couldn't hide a glass injury like that when she had to get dressed up.

That “green light/red light” in the English dub took all the creepiness away from her little song in the original 😨

@@yez9475 In English, there is a slightly more drawn-out version that can be played where kids go 'Red light, green light, one, two, three,' and they turn around on 'three'. So that could've been used. The song (or this) is more suspenseful than 'red light.... green light!' because people could say it fast or slow, or start off one way and switch up by the end. You don't know what's coming.
In terms of creepiness, it's a matter of something so innocent being turned into something so deadly and having a little kid singing it is the icing on the cake (because kids in horror content are generally effective, lbr lol) but also because, how did they get a child involved in this? you know?

the propofol is a sedative but there is no reversal agent, also usually given intravenously, I have never heard of it being aerosolised and inhaled.

Did you not see the gas leaking out of the van in the overhead shot?
@@Conorator I don't think that's what they mean. Lets say the 1st person to get in the van is drugged with whatever the gas is (probably some sort of anaesthetic) if 3 more people get in there's 3 more doses of that gas for the 1st person thus leading to them being way-overdosed. So it doesn't make sense how they all wake up at the same and time and feel alright and have no headaches or feel unwell.

6:54 When I have a fever, I wrap myself in a blanket to warm up more, that way I sweat more (I drink water in the meanwhile) and the immune system works better (at least I think). It's because of advices given by doctors, researches I made and because of a book I read.
What amazes me about squid game is how deep the show actually is, with the loss of control that goes on in every game barring the very last one, in game one you're practically fully in control, game two luck starts playing a small role. In game three since it's a team game you're automatically not fully in control as an individual, and by game 5 it's all about your luck.
I love Dr Mikes reaction to Sae-Byeok taking the glass shard out because that was my same reaction. “Just leave it in!!!” (From first aid trainings and medical tv shows)
From a narrative standpoint I thought that she might wanted to take that out cuz after seeing gi hun's friend kill someone he might've taken the chance on her which he did as soon as he learned she was injured, but at least she got enough time to tell gi hun to take care of her brother
Even I knew that one

@@kuddlecat That actually makes a lot of sense story-wise, never thought of it that way
Honestly i found it annoying how she was the only one who died because of side effects, not the "actual" games like... I'd rather she won
oh my god i literally gasped when you said his blood taste sweet probably because he was diabetic, in the show, his mom was diagnosed diabetic and need to be amputed.. gosh this show is so detailed....
