- Pikmin has many famous characters such as Olimar and Louie, but one of the most famous and controversial characters has an unknown backstory and is alleged to be actively censored by Nintendo. That character is Fiddlebert.
It is extremely tragic how you can hear him start to break down in fear after 6:00, he is clearly aware of the risk he is putting himself at by covering this topic but did so regardless. Nintendo clearly wants Fiddlebert forgotten, but we won't let them win. We salute you for your bravery, and please stay safe.

I think it's worth noting that Captain Charlie is not only green, but also the only technical captain in Pikmin 3, while also exhibiting parodic caricaturizations of archetypal "alpha male" traits often associated with those who hold politically incorrect views, as Fiddlebert does. I think that Charlie was added into Pikmin 3 as a mockery of Fiddlebert by agents of The Wokemin Society, but that move provoked Fiddlebert Sympathizer insiders to add Moss as a subtle but effective tribute.
Not only that, but don't forget captain Charlie's iconic quote from pikmin 3, "Maybe it's just his treasure-grubbing Hocotatian blood!" a clear callback to Fiddlebert's open discrimination.
Does anyone else remember Pikmin 4's second captain Freezing Frank? He was obviously rushed (being just an ice Pikmin in a hat) and he would sometimes speak in Icelandic. I really didn't like him as a kid, and Nintendo probably didn't either as they removed him from the Switch 2 and 4Ds ports. What did you guys think of him?

I'm the creator of the Fiddlebert Lore Wiki. I made it as a joke back in august of 2023, and I've been wondering why it has been getting traffic recently. It went from having 10-20 pages to over 70 because of this small mention, lol.

Many don't know this but in a leaked prototype of Pikmin 2, Fiddlebert can be found in the files and is a playable bmd model, there's also a handful of code that refers to him but there's no way to know if he was a early 2nd captain, perhaps after miyamoto drastically changed the direction of Pikmin 2 Fiddlebert was removed, but there's no actual way to know

Fun fact: The save file bubbles in Pikmin 2 change colour on four separate occasions depending on game progress. They become red, yellow and blue when onions of the corresponding colours are unlocked, and green if you have a save file that is in the Dream Den prior to collecting every treasure in the cave.
Forgive me for speculating, but it is my opinion that the Dream Den was originally intended to be the Fiddle Den, where it would be revealed that Fiddlebert kidnapped Louie and forced him to manufacture Arboreal Fripperies to support his evil drug empire. I believe that Miyamoto's infamous and psychotic hatred of the colour green drove him to steal the code and hold the game hostage unless his coding underlings agreed to character assassinate Louie by making him an attempted murderer.
I have propagated misinformation on the Internet 😔. While it is true that save files in the overworld/area selection menus change colour depending on what onion was most recently unlocked, the same cannot be said for the caves.
Save files in caves have their colours determined by the ratio of coloured pikmin that are with the captains. Red, yellow and blue pikmin are assigned the respective RGB colours of red, green and blue. Therefore, entering a cave with only red pikmin will have the save file appear red, whereas entering a cave with only yellow pikmin will have the save file appear green.
These colours actually mix together in true RGB fashion, and update between sublevels should a dandori moment occur. Entering a cave with an even mix of red and yellow pikmin has the save file appear yellow. Mixing reds and blues creates a purple save file, and mixing blues and yellows creates a teal save file. Entering with an even mix of all three types makes the save file white.
Purples, whites and bulbmin do not have an assigned colour, and do not influence the colour of save files. If they're the only types of pikmin in your squad, the save file appears white.
When I'm running the Dream Den, I always bring 50 yellows, 20 blues, 20 purples and 10 whites - a complete contrast to the squads I bring to the rest of the game's caves, which usually just consists of purple and white pikmin. This is probably the most esoteric and worthless piece of gaming trivia that I know, and I am not at all ashamed for regurgitating it here.
I usually just bring 20 of every type into caves, so that would have been unknown to me anyway.

I have some alleged Fiddlebert lore however it was only documented by a few redditors on r/pikmin. So the story begins as Olimars Lithuanian cousin "Bert" crashed on the planet, and their ship exploded so there weren't any ship parts. They got lost but came into contact with Fiddlemin which are green pikmin whose exact appearence is unknown, they were very hungry at this point so they ate a Fiddlemin and became Fiddlebert, the Fiddlemin were apparently very racist but love white pikmin, and are immune to Fiddle Hazards, but change somebody who eats them causing them to obtain these traits, after this Fiddlebert went on to find Olimar and appeared in Pikmin 1 however keep in mind this is not confirmed Fiddlebert lore and I cannot say for sure that it is true.
Had the pleasure of meeting fiddlebert at a charity do once. He was surprisingly down to earth, and VERY funny

Fiddlebert was originally meant to play the role of Louie in Pikmin 2, with the fight against the Titan Dweevil being portrayed instead as his last stand. Dialogue from a leaked demo planned for Space World 2002 suggests Olimar and the President teamed up to fire Fiddlebert due to the racist remarks he makes not sitting well with the company’s consumers. Ultimately this was scrapped in favor of Louie, as playtesters were confused at the sudden betrayal of someone who had been with Olimar for multiple games and the revelation of his death once the ship scans him after the defeat of the Titan Dweevil did not match the tone of the rest of the game.

Ah fiddlesticks, I really wish Nintendo would stop fiddling with Pikmin history and admit Fiddlebert was real! Just because Fiddlebert played second fiddle to Olimar doesn’t mean he is any less important. On this note, somebody on the Pikmin Subreddit found another such scrapped character, this time from Pikmin 4, a character named Moose, who appears to be a palette swap of Moss but with the horns of a Moose in place of her ears. A certain commenter named Dootblade74 (who is not affiliated with me in any way, no siree) goes into further detail about the character-- supposedly Moose was an early version of Moss that got changed late in development to better adhere to the Canine theme that the game has going on.
Apparently some files of Moose got left over in the day 1 version of Pikmin 4's demo, and under specific circumstances the character could erroneously appear in Sun-speckled Terrace, acting identical to Moss from Hero's Hideaway but never attacking due to broken AI. Once the final game released, the demo was likewise patched to remove Moose's files entirely.

I have my own Fiddlebert theory.
You see, Fiddlebert is a green character who is associated with insects. Who else is green and associated with insects?
Right away, one character immediately comes to mind: none other than the Kalphite Queen, most powerful insect in Runescape and by far one of the deadliest insects in gaming, to whom thousands have lost bank.
But there are two Runescapes. So you would think there are two Kalphite Queens, one in Old School Runescape and one in Cringe MTX Runescape. But that's just it. Runescape 3's MTX is so cringe that the Kalphite Queen of that timeline quit her job. Her role is currently filled by ten Swooping Snitchbugs in a trench coat, as Swooping Snitchbugs are one of the few creatures cringe enough to tolerate RS3's garbage monetization.
But, you may ask, where did the Kalphite Queen move to? It was hard to get this reveal. I had to clear the entirety of Pokemon Radical Red's Hardcore difficulty with one Caterpie. But once the game saves, the first 1000 bytes become an encoded message in Braille. When decoded, reversed, and put through a 5 digit Caesar cipher, the message reveals that the Kalphite Queen's new hive is situated in none other than Lithuania- which, as we all know, is the home of Fiddlebert!
Some immediately thought that this reveal means Fiddlebert and the Kalphite Queen are the same person. However, I disagree. Fiddlebert can't be the Kalphite Queen, his level is too low for that and his health meter is a circle, not a bar. He also has three forms, where the Kalphite Queen only has two.
The truth became clear when Fiddlebert was sighted experimenting with bottled 69-proof cringe, labeled with the insignia of Jagex. Evidently this cringe was smuggled out by the Kalphite Queen when she resigned. Not long after the timestamp of this footage, a massive spike in cringe was observed in political subs, beyond even their usual levels, despite the year not being an election year. They were so cringe that even the ordinary users of these subs left in droves. And where did they go, you ask? Most became frequent posters in the Kalphite Queen's discord, supercharging her with clout energy and enabling her to benefit from the effects of a Super-Spicy Spray, a highly regulated substance that Fiddlebert is known to own a large stash of.
Not long after that, a Runescape player observed Kalphite workers swarming around in odd patterns. The timestamp of this footage coincided exactly with the timestamp of footage of Fiddlebert moving the C-stick, which would imply he has adapted Hocotatian technology to control Kalphites.
It's unclear whether Fiddlebert or the Kalphite Queen is truly in charge, or what their true end goal is, but they are conspiring for something that may shake the world, making even the machinations of the infamous Iron Mugulis appear small-time in comparison. Though we agree that MTX is cringe, that is a very low bar, and I cannot support whatever extremist scheme Fiddlebert is concocting.
