    Not sure I am ready to separate my 2023 purchases into best and worst but one thing I disliked in 2023 was buying too much. I came to realize that if I have too much stationary, I find it cumbersome, overwhelming…. So for 2024 my goal is to use up what I have before buying new things…

      I hear you, same here! I bought too many inks, too many fountain pens, too much ephemeral. That‘s why I decided to challenge myself to do a no-spend to see how far I get. It’s been rougher than I thought it would be! I‘m still on track, but have countless tabs open and I‘ve been cruising websites.

      I totally agree! 2022 to early 2023 I went a bit crazy with the purchases, which definitely made me less motivated to journal/use stationery. Going forward, I'm just using what I have and limiting any new purchases.

      Same here. I could start my own shop with all the stuff I bought last year. I don’t know what I was thinking! This year will be a no spend for sure 👍🏻

    2023 was the year I went overboard in purchasing stationary items. I bought too many washi's and other supplies. 2024 will be a no buy/low buy year, as far as stationary. I want to use what I have. I do not plan on purchasing another Traveler's Limited Edition Notebook, as I bought the Diner edition and have yet to use it. I have two favorite purchases which are customizing my Traveler's Notebook with Baum Kuchen and I gifted myself a Nanala Designs Traveler's Notebook Cover and Nanala Fountain Pen Case, for my 3 year breast cancerversary. I love Nanala's craftsmanship.

      Thanks for sharing! ☺️ 2024 is also the year I want to use what I have and limit my purchases. I've never heard of Nanala Designs, will have to look them up.

    The day free Hobonichi (I use the cousin a5 for my planner) with a blank Hobonichi journal in the same cover has been working great for me, because I also cannot handle the missed dates. I’m going to get the blank a6 notebook in a cover (already have from years ago) to carry in my purse, because my cousin is WAY too heavy to lug around.

    You can get a replacement nib from Esterbrook for $30 or just a standard Jowo #6 nib unit for that Esterbrook. Should twist right out.

    • @pleinpages
      @pleinpages  6 місяців тому

      Yes I was thinking I should do that! It's definitely an option. I'm just disappointed because I did pay a bit more for a custom nib grind, so it's just a shame. I gotta keep writing with it and see if I change my mind on it!

    With regards to the FWP ink, if you enjoy the base color but not the shimmer aspect of it, I recommend filling from the bottle without pre-shaking or agitating it beforehand so you don't get any of the shimmer in your pen!

    • @pleinpages
      @pleinpages  6 місяців тому

      This is a great tip! Thanks! ☺️ I actually do like the green color of the ink, so will definitely try to use it without shaking/agitating it so I don't get any shimmer.

      @@pleinpages No problem! I have been doing the same thing with my Tokyo Bay Blue and absolutely loving it. It would be a shame to let it go to waste just because, like you, I'm not a big fan of shimmers either 😆

    I hadn’t used my journal in a year so I gave away my stickers, I decided I didn’t want to use them anymore,well I treated myself to a LV pocket agenda and what did I do…bought more stickers, mini ones because this agenda is about the size of pocket calendar. I don’t like the weeks insert so next year I’ll find something that can fit into it that I will use more.

    I got an Estie with an EF nib and decided I wanted a bigger nib, so I just bought a replacement nib unit. They're something like $25-30 and totally worth it for such a beautiful pen (I also got the botanical gardens pen and lurve it).

    • @pleinpages
      @pleinpages  6 місяців тому +1

      Yes, I may eventually decide to get a replacement nib. I'm just a bit disappointed because I spent a lot on the custom nib grind, so it's just a shame I don't love it. 😔 Going to keep using it with different inks, otherwise I'll consider a new nib!

    The design of your Esterbrook reminds me of a Ranga Pen. I dont know if you have particular country preferences to buy your pens but Ranga Pens is one of the most well known India based fountain pen brands. Peyton Street Pens also carries their acrylic pens if you want to take a look. Theyve got an acrylic with the exact colorway of your Esterbrook.

    Enjoyed your video! Thought I would share that you can easily switch your nib on you twisbi min! You can purchase your preferred size and it’s super easy to switch it up , I watched a UA-cam video to guide me. Any twisbi diamond 580 has the ability to interchange nibs.

    • @pleinpages
      @pleinpages  6 місяців тому +1

      Thanks! I remember considering this and I think the replacement nibs for the rose gold mini was a bit too pricey to justify it. That, or they didn't come in the rose gold. I can't remember! But I will look into this again, because it is a great idea.

    I purchased the Esterbrook in a scribo nib too, it was so scratchy! I took it to Kirk Speer at Pen Realm, he worked on it and now it’s awesome!

    • @pleinpages
      @pleinpages  6 місяців тому

      Hmm maybe this nib type is just scratchy in general! I'll have to consider getting it tuned a bit if I still continue to find it unbearable to write with.

    • @arguchik
      @arguchik 5 місяців тому +1

      @@pleinpages It feels scratchy because it's a very specialized nib grind - it has sharp edges, kind of like an italic nib but with the sharpness at the vertical "points" of the nib instead of at the side edges of the nib. That's how it writes such a broad cross stroke with a very fine down stroke. I have some cursive italic nibs from Franklin Christoph, ground for them by Mike Masuyama and Yukio Nagahara. They write broad down strokes with narrow cross strokes, but the edges are a bit rounded rather than sharp/crisp - and they still took a lot of getting used to before I could consistently write comfortably with them, and now I adore them. I also love Franklin Christoph's SIG (stub italic gradient) nibs. They are fantastic - they still took getting used to, but not as much so as the cursive italic nibs. Good luck! With that #6 Jowo nib unit, the world is your oyster as far as replacement nibs, because any of them should fit your pen regardless of who is selling them, grinding them, or whose brand is etched onto them.

    Why buy specific notebooks for journalling? I've got journal entries dating back over 30 years. I use my filofax and store in folders. Works and am not held to following the rules set by the journal manufacturer!

It sounds like a wonderful idea, especially for archiving past entries. I am just not a rings binder person when it comes to writing journal entries :)
