Teflon tape is only necessary on the pipe fittings due to the tapered thread. The flare fittings will seal air tight as long as they are properly tightened.

great work, but the only thing i can think of the whole time i'm watching is how bad my wife would trip when she seen me sanding and getting her rug all dirty lol

Great build. A sugge is to hide the gas hose underneath the deck. Loosen one board underneath the concrete thing, thread it and up to where the gas tank is.

Yeah especially when doing gas work. That’s a logical way of thinking for sure bud. It takes a gas leak to know a gas leak

You have the best channel I've found so far for diy projects, you make mistakes, don't claim to be an expert, but most importantly make these projects feel obtainable for the ordinary man/woman. Keep up the great work brother!

Nice job, love the videos! If the space is available underneath the patio, would reccomend a trap door beneath the rug for the propane tank. Easy access to refill or replace the tank and would look better having it out of sight of the house.

I really love this idea mixed with Michael Builds technique. Very inspirational and appreciate you sharing your hard work. I do advise you though to go back and research wrapping the compression side of your gas fittings. Because they are compression you do not have to wrap them, and if you do wrap they could possibly create leaks and or clog your line. Be safe friend and can't wait to watch more of your stuff.

I'm looking to build my own as well. Looking at a few videos for inspiration on how to build the frame. I'm getting a burner ( 30"x 10"). so mine will be rectangular. Thanks for the video man, it got me thinking. Btw, you don't need to apply teflon or pipe dope to the threads of a flared type fitting. You only need to use it when you have a male threaded pipe going in a female threaded fitting. I'm a licensed gas tech in Canada.

@@danieljw1985 Every social media seems to use likes and dislikes differently, so some people use them differently i guess. I never hit dislike. People put work into the vids, that needs to be respected. If I don't like the content, I just watch something else. But I am teetering on the edge of not watching due to excessive ads. April Wilkersons youtube channel is getting to be like that too. Shame, because I like the channels, content and content creators, ...but way too many ads...and then the ad part the creator adds into the video. sadly I hope my other channels I watch don't get too famous

You should build a box for your tank, it would look cleaner and help protect it from getting knocked over. The Lava rock is cool, but I prefer the colored glass beads, they catch the light of the fire and give a nice glint. Of course the downside is they need to be cleaned at least once a year to stay looking nice.

Great build. I started the same project myself. The base will be pallet wood. Had to but it on the back burner 😂 because of work. The top will be concrete like you did.
You can actual put the tank inside the base with enough separation and air flow. Since you are on a deck and with that large hole you cut out the bottom you should have been good.

You might want to put metal rods or mesh inside the concrete top though, as concrete can crack outside and be aware the slight overhang might break easily, but it's pretty thick so idk 🤔 oh, and I would have added ventilation holes in the base, so in case of leak the gas doesn't build up inside
Other than that it's great for it to be so light, not to put too much stress on the terrace beams, the waterproof finish is a really bright idea and I love how you made it really easy and straight to the point, the design looks really flush and modern
    Keep up the good work!
