    The Dreamstation is bigger, but that's partly because its power supply is "built in", rather than needing a power brick. I think you should consider this when comparing them against each other. Please correct me if my information is wrong -- I don't have them, I'm just in the middle of comparing them for purchase.

    • @CPAPReviews
      @CPAPReviews  4 роки тому +4

      G'day, i think that's a pretty fair point so thanks for the comment. In all honesty though, the dreamstation is not only bigger, it's also probably the noisiest of the bunch and one of the most expensive so i would not recommend that unless you really like the idea of the humidifier. Cheers

    Hi, The reason some cpaps are 24v, is that is what most motorhomes are, keep up the good work.

      the reason that some are 24volt as mine is, is simply because of the greater power requirements of the machine, usually the Vpap machines are 24v, I am having great difficulty getting a battery backup for my older Resmed IV st :(

    Don't laugh but I lug around my AirSense 10, travel 12V to 24V transformer, and four pound 230 Wh battery when backpacking haha. Would love to get a Z2 or Mini but insurance doesn't cover a second unit and they run about $800 USD. Maybe if I start to get out a lot more in the future I'll pick one up. Really appreciate the vid 👍

    Have just bought a Z2. Is there any way of reusing the humidifiers? Apart from the cost, I don't like the idea of all the plastic waste when using it regularly. I wondered about using an ozone cleaner?

    Hi Nick. Thanks for a really useful video, as I'm just about to buy a travel CPAP! You make passing comment about the Transcend being expensive - is that the 365? Over here in NZ it's only about 10% more than the Z2, so if price weren't a factor, would you still go for the Z2? Thanks.

    • @CPAPReviews
      @CPAPReviews  4 роки тому +1

      G’day, the Z2 is a much better product overall mate. Even if the transcend was $500 cheaper I would still jump on the Z2.

      @@CPAPReviews Thanks. Can always rely on an Aussie to be straight-up! I'm tending towards the DS GO because it's not much bigger than the Z3 with its power adapter, and it'll replace my aging F&P Icon when it dies. Now if only it was cheaper...

    Hi Nick. Thank you for all your videos, I have learned a lot. I have been affected by the dream station recall, and after seeing one of your videos I am concern the solution will take longer than I expected. I have decided to get a travel CPAP (which will come in handy in the future as a second device when I travel for work , no comparing) and will cover every while I wait. The most important feature for me is the humidifier, therefore I thought the transcend 365 was the war to go. I contacted a provider in Australia and they told me it was and unreliable machine and had poor support for service and parts. Would you recommend the Z2 with its “heat moisture exchange” or do you have any other recommendation? Thank you!!

    • @CPAPReviews
      @CPAPReviews  3 роки тому +1

      Hey mate, you're very welcome! I would imagine that company told you that because they don't sell it. ( Most of the Aussie retailers are owned by Philips or ResMed ). The Z2 is definitely the best travel unit in the world which is why it's always sold out! They are also extremely reliable. The Airmini is also a good option but it's a bit old now and only works with a few masks. Cheers mate. Nick

    Hi Nick, thanks for this. I have the transcend - I’ve had it for a few years but I am missing a part from the recharging system fir the battery. I’ve contacted a number of suppliers and Transcend themselves. The problem us with the adapter plugs - apparently there was a problem with the plug supplier and the part I need is no longer available. Do you have any ideas or a workaround?

    Hi Nick!
    New subscriber, and hopefully not the last!
    I know you have a lot going on right now, but maybe another CPAP user can answer my questions.
    I have a Z1 and it has worked great over the years. Now one battery dead and the second not charging fully. Newer Li-Ion double strength battery is around $350. What does the Z2 have that the Z1 doesn't? Is there enough of an improvement that I should just buy a new Z2/battery rather than the battery for the Z1? IDK the life expectancy of the Z1, but mine is probably 6-8 years old.
    Also, I thought Li-Ion batteries were banned on aircraft due to fire hazards, but apparently the portable CPAP batteries are ok.
    Thanks!

    • @CPAPReviews
      @CPAPReviews  3 роки тому +1

      Hey John, great question mate. One of the problems with the battery systems is that people forget they need to charge them on a semi regular basis to keep them happy and healthy. If you keep it in the top drawer for a year and forget to charge it then it's going to die and that goes with most battery systems. Now regarding the Z2, i know it well! It's very similar to the Z1 but certainly has some improvements.
      1. It's a hell of a lot more reliable than the Z1
      2. It's about 30% quieter
      3. The Q-tube is included with the machine
      4. It has auto off functionality
      Apart from those features it's very much similar to the Z1 and i think if you get 6-8 years out of a travel cpap then you're doing pretty well.
      Regarding the batteries on planes. You can take batteries on planes as long as they are a sealed battery and under 100 watt hours (think your phone power banks etc)
      I'm working on my own battery systems now and they are going to be amazing but not for planes unfortunately although i don't think we will be travelling internationally much anyway. Best wishes for the future mate.
      Nick

      @@CPAPReviews Wow, thanks for quick reply! Since I left that message I visited the HDM website and exchanged emails with a support person. I found out yr of mfr is in the serial # and my Z1 is from 12/2017 so not as old as I thought - thank you Dr. Alzheimer! They also have a trick in their FAQs to revive stuck batteries which I never heard of before. You unplug the Z1 (or Z2), remove the battery, and separate the Z1 from the PowerShell. Wait 30 seconds and put Z1 back in PowerShell, and insert the battery. Power on the Z1 and run it for 2-3 minutes on battery only, with no hose attached. Power it off, plug in the power cord and let it charge for 10-12 hours. My battery was stuck at ~50% and now it's up to 75% and still charging.
      Although they will upgrade my PowerShell firmware for free to handle the new double life battery if I send it in, I will probably just order a new Powershell and new battery together for only about $30 more than battery alone and I'll have access to both old and new batteries if I need them.
      Noise of Z1 not a problem for me or my wife fortunately. Also CPAP supplier who sold it to me included a Qtube, which I never hooked up.
      Love your channel and all the great content. You have a lovely family!
      ATB, my friend!

    What’s your thoughts on using the Z2 full time and not just for travel?

    • @nicbrownable
      @nicbrownable 3 роки тому

      I think it depends on how much humidity you need. The hme cartridges are a stopgap and I think most people will develop issues from dryness long term. Also the smaller pumps in portable units will have to work harder. There is a shorter air path between the pump and the hose outlet too. Portables will always be noisier. The Z2 is by all accounts a durable unit though.

    I feel sorry when it comes to Australia and CPAP machines, price wise. I'm in the U.S. and just purchased my Z2 for $589.00. Even with the current conversion rate of $71 U.S. to $100 Australian, the costs on the island continent is anything but down under.
    As far as one's choice, the Z2 blows the rest away in almost every travel valued category and makes one's choice simple.

    Air Mini - Don't buy it. NO RETURNS. The machine itself is very quiet but the air noise from the vent on your mask makes it unusable to sleep with. Bought one for my wife at the same time now we are stuck with two $1000 paper weights. Worked with the vendor to try to fix it, different hoses, mufflers, Masks, settings... nothing. Last warning don't buy it.
