    I absolutely love the size of it, and can't wait to get my own. Some people complain that it's tiny, but I love that it's the size of a book. So easy to handle. Throw it in a bag, carry it confidently with one hand, lounge around on the couch. It's perfect!

      I couldn't agree more. When I draw on paper, I almost never end up using more and 6-8inchs worth of the page. I Can't wait to get mine on monday.

      @Amxcre It is. But you also gain other things than just the spec advantage over the ipad 9. it having the now current hardware, more than likely means it'll have software support for longer. And even with the ipad 9 you'll also have to account for the first gen pencil, which is a much worse design.

    • @chloedegurechaff1941

      @Amxcre Thats why I said design. Its really an awful design. I've also heard that the 2nd gen pencil has better pressure sensitivity. but who knows, other than apple.

      @Amxcre The gen 2 pencil is way better than the gen 1 pencil!

    FINALLY someone else said " this thing is a bit expensive" haha
    All the big tech channels who get free review devices all said "its not expensive!" and I'm like "to who!?" lol. Still I think I might try this as my first iOS device and big purchase of the year, thanks for the review!

      you need to pay attention to how they say it though - it's always something along the lines of its not expensive, IN COMPARISON to iPad Pro or top tier Samsung tablet etc.
      And yeah, when comparing it to the 800-1000+ tablets/computers it is suddenly not that expensive xD it's all about semantics

      You gotta see it for the tech that is inside of it. And from that perspective it is well priced. It could cheaper, but I think Apple found a reasonable price considering the cost that come with manufacturing and updating it (keeping the OS updates coming on this thing for at least 5 years like Apple does it is quite expensive).

      @@MF_OXF well to be honest.. with the pencil, the charger, smart folio and 256GB I'm looking at over 1k as well for the ipad mini.

    Great review, Brad! For me this size is probably the perfect size for sketching ideas. I had the original Galaxy Note 8 and boy I created a lot on that thing! I had a 10th gen iPad ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxUGaHtKW8MwCql2fPyIm9-ftTqSMzKFFA . Felt it getting pretty slow at times even after doing a reset. So I am using that as a tablet for my 5 year old son and got this 9th gen version. MUCH faster, a little slimmer, smaller bezels, all around a leap forward. Plus, for the price that’s about $130-$150 cheaper than a current new model this is a nice deal. I look forward to the M-series CPUs coming into iPads which will really help future proof these tablets better but these latest CPUs are pretty strong and should do better to last several years with no compromises.

    Great review, Brad! I was always tempted by the Mini, but as you said, I rarely draw outside my home, so I think it would be more of an issue with the size, than something positive. But I would love to have the possibility to sketch on the go. I think with 128 gb, the base model would be just perfect.

I have the 12 inch and when drawing at home, it's great, but sometimes you do want something a little smaller, and when going out to visit family, or just sketching in the park, that small size really comes in handy. I was using the 12 inch on a plane and I really felt like I was getting in the way and bringing a lot of attention to myself, with a smaller one, you feel more in your zone out of the way of people. Less of an attention magnet which is good sometimes.

    I just got it on sale along with the apple pencil 2 and $490 for both fantastic deal. My drawing laptop has so much lag since it's getting old and while I'll miss the size, the mini is way better for my life style and on the go and I don't have a lot of issue with putting the art on my laptop or PC if I really need to get larger pieces done. All depends on your life and the art you make, I'm also pretty small lol so works great for me

    I am an extremist when it comes to tech: I don't like compromises or so-called "sweet spots" that don't really do either thing well. The 2020 iPad Air, for example, never had that much appeal to me. Maybe someday I'll be able to justify buying the biggest, baddest iPad Pro, but for now I'm absolutely thrilled to have this awesome little ultra-compact Mini. I know there are some things that would be difficult or impossible to do on this little guy, but I'm okay with that because this is so perfect for what it is.
    The great thing about my approach is that, if I ever do end up getting the Pro I'd love to have, it won't turn the Mini into a paperweight. The Mini will still be objectively better at performing certain tasks, such as reading or watching a video in bed, taking notes in meetings, and the like. The same could not be said of a device that had more overlap with the Pro.

    Which do you recommend more? the ipad air 4 or the ipad mini 6

    • @2slowpoke929
      @2slowpoke929 2 роки тому +1

      The Mini technically has the better overall specs, front facing camera has center Stage support alongside the A15 chip which is newer but at the same time it depends on which one you'd want more. The Air still runs great and will most likely run great for the next few years.
      If you have a big phone that's like 6.7" a Mini might be redundant but if you like smaller phones like a Pixel or an iPhone non Max it'd be a pretty good companion piece.
      Best idea would be to check out both in stores

    Great and in time video!! I’m seriously considering new iPad mini for drawing but can’t decide on 64 or 256 gb! I’ve never drawn on iPad before and heard 64 gb would be enough for Procreate etc.
    I will be mainly using it for drawing painting and notes writing.
    Any advice?

    • @ColinTedford
      @ColinTedford 2 роки тому +7

      Yeah, 64 GB will work for that. If it ever gets too full you can use iCloud (if you’re not already) or move files to another computer or flash drive. If 64 GB ends up feeling too small, you can sell it (iPads have pretty good resale value). I went with 256 GB, but I use it for many different things and I like to keep copies of as many files on it as I can.

    Hey Brad, which is better between, iPad Mini 2021 and Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 FE. Which one I should pick to get into art?

    • @marielcarey4288
      @marielcarey4288 2 роки тому +1

      I brought the Samsung galaxy tab s7+ and absolutely love it, but it's so big that I literally can't take it anywhere. If you're really only using the tablet for art, I suggest ipad mini 2021. Or if you like Samsung stuff and wanna save money, the Samsung tab s6 lite comes with the s pen free and cuts corners on most things except the drawing experience.

    • @marielcarey4288
      @marielcarey4288 2 роки тому +1

      Also btw apple pen doesn't work at all if it's battery dies, whereas s pen uses wacom technology and when it's battery dies its Bluetooth functions stop working, but it still works for drawing.

    • @marielcarey4288
      @marielcarey4288 2 роки тому +1

      Also also the tab s7 fe just isn't worth it. Save a bit more and get the s7+. You get 120hz refresh rate, the screen is more gorgeous, and more stuff. It's £130 off in currys pc world atm

    • @marielcarey4288
      @marielcarey4288 2 роки тому

      But I think it's whatever you prefer. Ipad mini has lesser area for drawing but is more portable. Samsung tab s7 fe (please don't buy that one just get the plus version if you can) has more area for drawing (good for it since the software on android isn't as optimised) and less portable. Definitely get a case for it lol cause I'm constantly concerned ill break mine.

    In my opinion, 64 GB of storage is just not enough if you’re working with files on the iPad. I don’t even think Apple should be making 64 GB iPads because that’s just too little unless you only use the iPad to watch videos, play a few games, and work with small text files. I think the 128 GB versions are a better storage amount to start with. It allows users to have a decent amount of apps, work with files without having to always delete files to make space for new ones, and it’s simply better for productivity. I think 128 GB is the bare minimum of storage in order to do these things comfortably.

    • @Quiqueleal85
      @Quiqueleal85 2 роки тому +2

      I been doing digital drawing on a 64gb New iPad Air since release and I still have tons of space. the issue comes if you download most of your music or do intense photo/video edits imo. haven't had an issue regarding storage YET... but eventually it always fills up no matter what size you have. I do agree that 64gb needs to roll out of existence just out of value though.

    I’ve been thinking about buying one recently…..I have an iPad Pro in the smaller size and I love it but I do a lot of drawing when I’m not busy at work. I work in a restaurant though so it’s always a huge pain to bring the regular iPad with me if there’s something I want to work on, especially since I can’t carry that with me. I actually didn’t even know there was a newer iPad mini until a few days ago. Found a really nice used one on eBay that isn’t too expensive, but I wasn’t sure if the mini’s screen was as responsive as the pro. I had the older iPad Pro too, with the old pencil, and using it then it was great. But using it after having the new pro, it’s like night and day. I was worried the mini would be like using that. But it doesn’t look like it! I’ll probably go ahead and buy the secondhand one now, thanks. None of the other reviews I watched were from an artists perspective and they all said the pencil functionality is great but that they’d probably never use it. Meanwhile that’s literally the only reason I want it lol.
