- Happy new year every one, we hope you had a great xmas and a merry new year :-) What a start to 2022 for us, We went out Metal detecting in one of our North Yorkshire permissiong where we had been a few times befor with the Minelab Equinoxs but this time we thought we would re do our Vanquish 340 Field test that we did a year ago or so as we now the machines a little better now and BOOM what a day!
I hit the metal detecting JACKPOT, A big GOLD bronze age ring.
The find has been reported with my local FLO and will be handed in to go through the UK treasure Process.

100% mate, the Minelab vanquish is a £230 machine but what a machine it is! It's never truly about the machines, it's more about experience and a lot of luck :-) mainly luck haha
Tis like golf and fishing, etc. People seem to think you need the most expensive kit 🙄

That`s what it`s all about! We rarely find anything ancient here in America except arrowheads and pottery, but I did have an amazing three 14k gold rings day with an old mid 1990s Bounty Hunter machine. In under 35 minutes, maybe less, I found two very large men`s 14k rings and a smaller but not thin 14k 1/4 carat diamond ring. In the same hour I also found a 14k earring and old John Denver style 18k gold rim glasses. I was amazed!
I found my first gold ring detecting with a Whites Coinmaster in the late 1970s, a heavy and wide 18k England Air Force Base ring with missing stone. It was very wide and thick at the top where the stone went. I found one dollar and 75 cents in silver coins that day too.
I found a lot of rings with that detector in tourist areas and parks on Toledo Bend Lake on the border of Louisiana/Texas and usually found enough coins to buy a 12 pack of beer. In some places where quarters were thick and nobody had ever hunted I could find 20 dollars in quarters an hour if they were just under the surface. I poked my homemade digging knife in the ground, felt it hit them, and popped them out in rapid succession.

We don't ever find that much money even if we're on a beach where all tourists go hahaha we are too tight to drop so much 😅

Mate we are always surprised with the little vanquish 340! It's probably one of the best for the money, it does lack on some of the nice features some of the other brands have for the price but if its finding history then this is great. Cheers for watching mate

I've had the 340 vanquish for 3 years and have found just over 100 rings all in parks, the mode I find best is coin mode, 20, 21,22 makes me excited as it's 90 % of time it's something good, ,, yes it's a great beginning machine for the new comer

@jakedonnely4094 I think it would be great with a 12inch on. There is different options in the 440 like pinpoint function etc but depth wise I would say they are bound to be the same :-)
@jakedonnely4094 also don't forget to use TMDC10 code at checkout from LP metal detecting for a discount :-) might not work for a metal detector but will for the coil and helps support the channel :-)

Awesome video,metal detecting has given me so much joy over the last few months even though I have found scrap metal ring pulls and bottle tops.The odd £1 coin. What reading on the vanguish did the gold ring show? I have the same machine.Best thing I did this year was buy a metal detector,just getting out and wondering what's under your feet is half the fun.
I think it came up as an 18 on the display. Yes your right, metal detecting is the best hobby ever :-) happy hunting and awesome choice of machine.
Think it was around 1650 when hallmarks were introduced on gold , than your gold is just a tad older than that !🤣👍🏻

Do you use rechargeable batteries?..if so what setup..thx
On the Vanquish we just use normal batteries, they seem to give us a good full day out or 2 days if only part days, but we have noticed if you use cheaper batteries when the battery levels get about 1/2 the volume starts to reduce haha 😄

Believe it or not but only last month it was actually declared as treasure! I can't believe it's taken so long, so there are a couple of museums interested in it so it looks very unlikely that I will see it again. :-(

The gold? Not sure it's been with the FLO for 2 years now so still waiting for the report to get to us. Fingers crossed one day soon.
