      It is all about our recent storms causing the erosion, it is incredibly rare to have those days sometimes waiting years. I know you will have better success once you get the summertime visitors back on the beach or a nice storm the will move heavy items up on the beach.
      Thank You 👍

    Wow what a haul congratulations. You're putting a big workout on your wrist. I understand why it hurts after 20 minutes.
    I had hand surgery on both wrists. And then again to have the ulnar nerve released. There are ace wrap looking things. That are self-adhering. They stick to each other. So you can use that to make a thin wrap on your wrist. To give it the support you need. While you're digging over a hundred holes, crazy man. I know from personal experience that your carpal tunnel and your ulnar nerve. May require surgery again. If that area has a lot of inflammation and Scar Tissue. I would take good care of that. So it healed well. God bless.

    I finally decided on the equinox 700 so far I like it. Only took it out a couple of times. Does rings of any kind have any iron grunt to them. The other day I was hunting in all metal mode beach2 and dug a lot of bottle caps. Finally I quit digging anything that had a grunt to it. Am I making a mistake by not digging targets with a grunt like iron. I thought that I did dig a quarter that grunted also.

    • @funwithjim

That 8K ring may look dark because it could be rose gold and could contain a lot of copper. I bought an old ring from a garage sale that looked like an old penny in color. Polished up to a beautiful rose gold color and acid tested 10K. I'd love to see it cleaned up. Yes I would dig it and I'm going to guess a nickel.

    Do people just throw rings in the ocean there?

    • @funwithjim
      @funwithjim  7 місяців тому

      Lol, several thousands of people use that beach every day. You lose a ring size after a few minutes in the water, then add a little sun screen and the ring is gone. When the conditions are just right the storms push the lost items and everything else up onto the shoreline and we have a limited time to dig it up. The next day after this video was made, the beach was sanded in again and I am still waiting for the next storm to make that location great to metal detect again.

    • @funwithjim
      @funwithjim  Рік тому +1

      Newport Peninsula is one of the busiest beaches in the world with year round activity and has lots of metal detectorists. Why so many targets that day is because to the storms days prior, see my previous videos. That storm created a huge cliff removing lots of sand giving access to heavy metal objects like lead fish weights and gold. Incredibly rare to have the beach in that condition last time it was that good was in 2018 after a huge southern swell caused by a Hurricane down south.

    Jim, I know you don't want me to tell you how to detect so pass this up. But, if your still reading this, when I dig a hole, I drag my scoop out of the hole, check to see if I have it, and it's a lot easier than lifting it out? Drag it up the slope and then dump it out. It worked for me yesterday. twenty one silver coins (only one small gold ring) in 5 1/2 hours where there was barely a cut. I'll take your finds if you want to trade. Oh, by the way, your method of cleaning them works pretty well, they're all clean but two of them. Probably too clean and shinny. I need to take the shine away, how do I do that?

    • @funwithjim

      @funwithjim  Рік тому +1

      15' cliff you would have to climb down to enter the beach, the only people using the beach were metal detectorist that know they should fill the holes but did not need to as it is a race to dig before the next tide in a few hours. Not a single person other than detectorists were on the beach. However when the beach is available to everyone and others are enjoying the beach I would agree that everyone should fill there holes. But on that day, it was not necessary as no one else was going to climb down that 15' cliff of sand but us metal detectors.

    Unbelievably great day for you. Congrats! It's time like this that I'm really sad I don't live near a beach. Do our guesses need to be exact? For example; if I say it's a nickel, do I need to specify which kind (shield, buffalo, V)?

      nickel is a good answer, I will let people know when I need it to be specific. Thank You 👍

    That is a sweet bike! So you had a great day out there. Those bullets look like civil war era.
    My guess this week, maybe a nickel, a buffalo 🦬 nickel. 😊
    Rest that wrist a few days, or maybe wrap it instead of the “brace” might do you a bit better.

    Wow, you had a top 10 day there !! Probably the silver lining to all those storms in CA besides the need for the water. Normally I would say that's a gold ring but I'm going with some type if nickel cause that's what it would be on my machine !! Yup I would dig a 10 12 every day !!

      great answer, Thank you! 😎👍 Haley is not doing well, it breaks my heart to see her going down hill and not improving. Infection in leg postponed the surgery. I am praying she pulls through.
