Because panic and fast movement tells the shark you're a snack and it's time to eat before the prey escapes. Have you seen or heard of people standing their ground and screaming at a bear during bear attacks? It's the same sorta thing.. predators usually stick to what they know is easy food. Cant hunt if you're too injured :)
It's a Great White. One of the most amazing creatures on this planet. You experienced something so amazing that so few will ever experience. If it wanted to eat you it would have nose bombed you 6-feet in the air and then taken a bite of you just to realise it didn't like the taste. As much as you might like the shark to play by your rules and Steve to put the shark on the naughty step for breaching and trying to bite your paddle, it's never going to happen. When you're in the ocean, consider yourself an uninvited guest.
It didnt lunge at the kayak at all. It'll be territorial and this is telling the kayaker to get out of my area. It wasnt a sustained biting or 'attack'. It was 1 bite after an investigation, and it went away.
Oh shut up. If you wanna risk your life with sharks then by my guest, normal people realise how dangerous they are. I’m seeing this BIZARRE delusional trend of people denying reality with anything atm. Just stfu
South Australia has Sharks, Brown Snakes, Red back spiders and white tip spiders, but at least we can swim in our rivers without being eaten by a crocodile.
Lmfao, the sensationalist title and music made me think it was gonna actually lunge at the kayak, instead it just tried to take a little nibble out of one of the paddles.
I can't imagine that I was kayak fishing caught a shark in the Gulf and I couldn't get that f***** cut off my line at all it dragged new good couple miles fast too
Not going to lie …I’d absolutely shit myself …maybe pee myself …be so fking scared that it would knock me off ….and when it went away I’d just be frozen in that spot going omfg omfg omfg shaking like a mfer 😂👍
The man wasn't in any real danger. The shark was trying to identify the kayak and was attracted to the electric signal it was giving off with the tech. As soon as the shark realized the kayak was not edible, it left. Unless you got dead fish dangling about your boat, the sharks will lose interest quickly.
I ask the same question 🙈🙈🙈🦈 & never get the right answer.what do they see in a fish that's so dangerous I will never know🦈 then when it gets ahold to u now everyBODY wants to say ohh that's F- UP NO IT'S NOT CAUSE U KNEW already it's a dangers fish.if u like it l love it.its just sad people can't stay away fr something that will kill r hurt u in a way that u can't come back fr..could be a death wish if not its close to it,I don't want NO part of it.anyway I love ur connections💯💯💯👌
Hit the paddle in the water next time. Sharks sometimes avoid something that startles them. Try also if you are swimming and one comes up near you. If al else fails next time stay home and out of the water.
Noooooo!!! Jeezus! Thrashing attracts them they think you are a seal or fish whatever...You "redirect" them by pushing their nose away from you! If you're panicking then thump his nose he will still go away. The paddle would have done the same job. You enter his home you know exactly what can happen make the fcuking CHOICE 😡
Well when you enter the water you are entering THEIR HOME, what do you expect to happen? Same thing that happens when someone enters your home uninvited 🤷♀️ It is provoked every time you step foot into the sea or ocean. I’m not understanding why this is so hard for people to understand!!!🤦♀️🙄
"That shark was saying hello. They're actually really loving and peaceful creatures. They're not normally aggressive, and they never go out of their way to bite humans." Lol. Just kidding! But people who say crap like that about sharks sound like dingleberries, don't they?
And they keep going out in kayaks! Some sharks out there are bigger than these little boats. Hopefully they all use common sense- that would really ruin a good day.
Me and sharks have an agreement, I don't go in the ocean and they don't come into my bath tub
Funniest description ever "steve its just had a go at me", "it took its mouth out" and "breached itself at me" 🤣🤣🤣
Understandable! 😂
Better get out of the water when he takes his mouth out!😂😂😂

That’s a baby one. About a year ago on my kayak in Santa Cruz 16 footer went right under my kayak.
Must be super chill when he goes back kayaking
He should have jumped in the water and redirected the shark....i guess he didn't know!😂😂😂
Look how elegantly and fast that thing just curves out into the darkness. Scary bro
I was just thinking that, the ability to swim off then suddenly appear is amazing.
He went for the paddle 😂😂
Massive balls for the shark to approach an Australian like that
He should of got the hell out of the water when he spotted it don't play with ya life like this folks

Should try to go to the sea in west turkey. There are so many dolphins that the sharks just disappeared, they bullied them out of there 🤣

I laugh at these so called expert’s who say we’re not on the food chain for sharks… yes!! We are!!!
No we aren’t…. More ppl are killed by fridges than sharks a year, yet hundreds of thousands swim in the oceans every year. Sharks do not want us.

theres no evidence to suggest great whites are territorial in this way

lucky for the bloke in the silly small floating log 😂
Ha ha ha
Makes me think it was really hungry
He was hungry "Feed the Hungry"
Orcas and sharks are starting to think boats contain some food source and it'll only be a matter of time when they start figuring out how to tip boats
Nothing is safe in Australia
South Australia has Sharks, Brown Snakes, Red back spiders and white tip spiders, but at least we can swim in our rivers without being eaten by a crocodile.
In a kayak, in the f’n ocean with great whites, i can say as a black man some wyt people have balls of steel!!!
😂😂😂
That is Nope on another level right there
He is accustomed to kayakers having fish. He thought the paddle was his line.
I guess Australians have a very different definition of lunge than Americans.
And the rest of us! 😂
Finding death so close must be heart pounding😮
Message received God. No more kayaking in the freaking ocean.
First chance that paddle would’ve bing off the sharks face, best believe it ain’t coming back.
Lmfao, the sensationalist title and music made me think it was gonna actually lunge at the kayak, instead it just tried to take a little nibble out of one of the paddles.
I'd have a hart attack or panic attack.

Aint gonna lie, kinda rooting for the shark
Kayaking in the ocean?
Pretty much asking for it.
That's why you keep a few sticks of TNT in your kayak.
Do you think the sonar from the fish finder was driving it crazy?
I've dreamt this exact incident in one of my nightmares. He was in a living nightmare.
He’s just checking the menu.
That's right 😮
He took his mouth out.🤣😅🤣
Thats what we get for turtles with plastic cocaine straws stuck in their noses.. jump scares from sharks takin their mouths out at us 😂😂😂

Surprised? Well what did you think was going to go down out there in the water while you were floating in a plastic boat⁉️🤔🙄
eff that. swimming pools and lakes for me.
Well duh. They’re probs Australian
I thought Tiger Sharks were responsible for the most unprovoked attacks
He should have hit him with his paddle when he had the chance. Running away beings out the preditor.
It looks like the shark was going for the paddle.
Should've poked it to let it know you aren't a floating piece of meat.
Yeah, that was freaky, but that was way less dramatic than you are making it.
Remind again why it is a reasonable idea to go kayaking in great white territory.
