The wire basket isn't for fishing. It is for frying, but you put the food to be fried in it and lower it into the grease pot. When it's done, you can just lift it out and drain it. The clip thingy at the bottom under the handle hooks over the rim of the pot so the grease just drains right back into the pot. So much easier! My grandmother had one. Wish I could find one. I love the chunky gravy boat and the jar opener.
I love going in the old places that have the smell of aged wood and the floors creak. they evoke comfort and cozyness. I have a collection of Corning Ware. But it's the blue cornflower pattern. I also have the white electric cook plate. I use it all avidly. Yes Clair is a cutie pie for sure. She has such a happy face.
What a gorgeous primitive framed print. We had that french fries basket when I was a child in the 1960's - at least that's what my mother used to fry them and okra in. I also had the "Word Book" for my kids in the 1980's and we loved it. PA looks like a fun state to shop in! Thanks Genevieve! Awesome video as always.
I live in PA and I agree, we are rich with antique shops in this state! Columbia has several big antique shops. And several other things to see. I live in Harrisburg and have a few favorite shops I frequent. :) It’s always a feel good shopping trip. A pick me up. ❤ Claire IS adorable!
Claire is the cutest! She gets cuter every day! I love all your finds especially the farmhouse picture. What a beautiful jar opener! That is so special.
You found some good items. Yes, Richard Scarry has some amazing books. I used so many in teaching my kids when they were young. Another great author is Berenstein and specifically the Berenstein Bears books those are wonderful! 😊
Gen you found some really nice things!!! That picture is so nice!!Also that corningware pot and the crock!!!!Glad you girls had fun!!!Can't believe your little one is al.ist a year old already!!She is so darn cute!!!!Enjoy her and all your goodies!!!😁🍁🎃🧡🙏👍
So fun you could go antiquing with your friend! That time with friends is so important, I’m in my sixties and still love to do that with my friends! Also your daughter is that adorable, take care🙂
Lancaster is a wonderful area to visit. Amazing beautiful items to be found. We used the wire basket to deep fry French fries...it has a clip on it to clip on pan to drain. I love those pictures. Id have a wall of them if i could..
Omg, I recognized every shop you were at. I just bought new kitchen curtains at Jake's. We go out there a few times a year and stay for a few days. There is a gourd farm run by Amish that you have to check out. The dried gourds are so beautiful and they sell them for $2- $10. I have a bunch of them styled in an antique laundry basket and they are beautiful for Fall. You also need to go to Cornfields, it's a beautiful place for antiquing! There are so many gorgeous little towns out there to explore. It's also the best place to buy pumpkins, lots of farmers have stands at their farms and the prices are amazing, even for the heirloom ones, which I love. That part of PA. is my happy place for sure. You have to eat at Deiners, the food is wonderful, it's Amish as well. We love to go to the Christmas Show at the American Music theater, it is incredible. It's across the road from Cracker Barrel. ❤
It sounds like you guys had a great time shopping. I liked the length of the video. We got to see a little bit of a lot withut it getting so long. Claire is really changing in looks and the stuff she can do. I just really enjoy hearing how the two of you are over the moon in love with her.
Hi Genevieve You got alot of nice things. Claire is so cute my girls liked to sit and play with the letters and numbers on the fridge. I hope to get to Lancaster my sister goes atot to the almish stores. They have a train to ride and see some of the scenery and buggy rides iam sure Claire will like as she get older. If you ever get to go to see Sights and Sounds play oh my what a rewarding time. I missed Moses my sister said it was so go they rode horses down the aisle and the live animals. Cant wait to see another show I so happy you had a great time. Lots of love and prayers for you and your family. God Bless and have a great weekend ❤❤❤
Hi Genevieve 💓 Claire is so super cute and so pretty I love all ur wire baskets I'm on my way trifting thanks for the inspiration and great ideas always Laura 💖
So surprised you didn't buy the bowl (4:50). Gorgeous, and so you! I moved to Florida from New England 7 years ago and the antiquing here (southwest FL) stinks! I miss my New England antiques so much! Also, I don't have an antique loving friend to go thrifting with. Miss that too. Lucky you,
Hopefully this makes ya giggle…. Watching back the footage, yes I had that bowl in my hands for the whole trip around the store but it was $55 so I kept pondering. Then I came across the chalkboard for Claire so I put the bowl back. AND NOW KICKING MYSELF BC I EDITED THE FOOTAGE AND SHOULDVE BOUGHT IT 😂😂😂😂💛
@@genevievelynn737 Ya, the price of those bowls can be prohibitive. There were three of them in my local "thrift" store and they were priced $95, $65, and $55 based on their size. No thanks. I don't need more bowls that much.
We just had our 25 th anniversary there ! Went in the same shops! We found a huge red wing #10 with the black wooden handles for 100$!!!!!!!!! We stayed on an Amish farm too, with the little school house out the front window . Did you get to go to the Amish restaurant buffet? It’s the largest buffet in the US! Then the store underneath!!!!!! Wow wow wow! So glad you had fun !!!!
That store you guys were in had some really cool things! I saw several things I've been looking for or would love to have. Those candle type bulbs, and i love pip berry wreaths & garlands, they had so many!😮 The pictures were so pretty! Love pictures with old houses, barns, silos, churches.. just old farm or country scenes. I loved the chippy white step back cupboard you were cking the price on at 4:32..I have one just like that but its black & chippy. Mine is from 1870.. and it was given to me! (Thankfully🙏🏻) Right now the top doors are off because one of the hinges is broken, since its an original hinge I probably never find one to replace it🫤 I really want the doors on it, but to leave open & hang things on them. So is either leave them off or change the hinges whichi don't really want to do 🤷♀️ So I just decorate the shelves & top, use the bottom for storage, mine is just open on bottom with no Shelf. Wow there were so many awesome things in that store! So many gorgeous jaidite pieces! I love the print you bought❤ Love both your baskets too! The basket with the handle Is for frying foods, you put the food in the basket & sit it in boiling grease, the hook on bottom hangs on the pot to drain grease when done. Its A vintage piece, my mom had one just like it when i was young. Great for fries, hush puppies, chicken nuggets or tenders.. anything really. I'd love to find one myself, i try to find things i remember my mom always having when i was young & that's a piece she had for as long as i could remember🥹 Cute Disney tee😊 My grandkids had the fridge magnets & loved them! Aww Claire really is just too cute!😊 I loved playing school too! I had a big chalk board as a child. You had A great haul, i loved shopping along! So fun! Thanks for taking us😊
Pennsylvania was my favorite place I have ever antiqued!! We loved it there. I have a LOT of stuff from the one trip we went there. You got some fun goodies too. It is overwhelming sometimes when you go somewhere new. Richard Scarry's Cars and Trucks and Things That Go was my son's favorite book! There is a little yellow bug his name is Goldbug and he is on every page. I can't tell you how many hours we spent searching for goldbug in that book. So glad you got to had a great time. What was your favorite thing you saw but didn't buy?
Next time you go, you need to check out Columbia and Marietta, about 30 minutes west of Lancaster on Route 30. They have some great antique and primitive shops. Burning Bridge and Bootelegger Antiques are great!!
Hi Claire’s Mom! My husband says there’s Claire’s Mom! She is adorable and so happy! Can you please tell me what store you was in with the farm house picture with the chickens in the yard with the farm house? It was right at the beginning of your video right after you showed all the berry picks! The artwork was beautiful! Loved the one you bought also! Enjoy sweet Claire they grow up so fast! I miss my daughter being that little! Thanks!
I love all if those "Billy Jacobs" prints. Im obsessed with his work❤
I know people who have basements that look just like that antique store with the Fire King displayed. Their collections are amazing!
