Before I forget, leave the butter dish as is. So much to say about this video, I'll try to keep it short. Loved this content. I almost did not watch it, but I would have missed out on a blessing. It was moving to see how touched you guys were after seeing the performance. Thanks for sharing that part. Enjoyed seeing you and your husband together shopping, celebrating, and talking thru the video. You guys have such sweet spirits. Really liked the items you showcased and the ones you purchased. BTW, Happy Anniversary 🎉and Happy Birthday 🎂. Looking forward to next video. Until then, take care. 😊
Thank you for your kind words! I’m so glad you clicked and watched 🥰 hubby and I are trying to do more videos together- it’s tough since he still works full time. We appreciate you watching!
Such another fun video, Cindy! Those were some really nice thrift / antique stores you visited! As soon as you picked up the blue and white oval dishes, I KNEW they were going in your cart! I love all the pieces of children's clothing you bought too, and how wonderful that they're all handmade. So happy that you and your husband rescued Barkly. He is adorable and deserves the good life that you are giving him! See you again soon!
I love the little dresses! So much simple, yet elegant details! I sew also, so I can appreciate the quality of these hand sewn garments. Thank you for taking us along on your journey!
You live in such beautiful surroundings. And this was like spending the day with the sweetest and most loving long-lost aunt and uncle. Thank you for your respectful sharing of your faith and values, all the way from Australia!
As a woman, I'd recommend Wild at Heart and John Eldredge for anybody to read and listen too! I learned heaps about myself as well as understand my sons and husband better!
I liked everything you found. It was definitely my kind a taste. I collect Ironstone but it’s so difficult to find it at thrift stores or Goodwill. I mostly have pitchers. I got so excited with the Buffalo China oval plates. That too I try to collect n use them. Love the oval shape n so cool with scallop edges. The dresses, oh my goodness their so sweet. Now you have my interest. I’m gonna start looking for them. Your so blessed that your husband enjoys going thrift shopping with you. Unfortunately my husband wasn’t into what I loved doing but he was a good sport about it. Sometimes he’d go with me n find a comfortable chair to sit in n watch people LOL. I’d give anything to have that again. I lost him to dementia a year ago. But we had 52 wonderful years together. We were blessed with 2 boys but we lost our oldest boy 34 years ago n the loss n pain will always feel like it happened yesterday. Fell in love with that covered bridge. You definitely don’t see them in Florida. As for me leave the butter dish as is n enjoy it. ♥️♥️😊👍🌟🌟🌟😅
Sounds like you and I are oval ironstone kindred spirits ☺️ Thank you for sharing this part of your story. Big hugs for all you have walked through. 52 years is a long time and it sounds like you experienced a wonderful life together. Grief doesn’t stop, we walk through it daily. Thank you again for sharing. 🥰
This was a fun video to watch! I love the handmade clothing you found, especially that full slip for a little girl! We love Sight & Sound productions!! We’re always so impressed with the skill they have!
You are such a lovely couple with a wonderful, sound relationship. Happy anniversary and happy birthday to you both. I’m relatively new to your channel and enjoying it very much.
Happy anniversary! Loved learning about the sewing details. Makes you appreciate the skill and time. I love the basket and the butter dish. I vote leave it as is. Barkley is lucky to have you and your spacious yard.
Weren't those little dresses so sweet? I love the details on them. Barkly is a sweet little dog. I'm so glad he came across our path! Thanks for your kind words 😊🐶
Lancaster is my favorite place to go! I’ve been going there for years. Sight & Sound is the most amazing place to go. I’ve seen so many of their shows and they never disappoint. Enjoy!
Great video. Saw so many things I loved. I have sowed all my life too. I love french seams and use them when making pillowcases . I would have definately bought the little dresses. Happy Birthdays and anniversary!
Homer Laughlin dishes are made in a small town in West Virginia. They also make Fiesta. My home state. I always appreciate when someone buys it in the department store or thrifted. ❤
West Virginia is a beautiful state! I didn’t realize that Homer Laughlin was made there! I had Fiestaware for years until I switched over to all white oval dishes many years back. Thanks for watching 😊
Happy Anniversary and birthdays to you both! I too, have a birthday in May ( 28th ). I have many happy memories of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, my grandparents would take me there. Visited all the things and places there ( Amish Farm museum, farmers markets for shoo fly pie and Dutch Wonderland ( amusement park). Anyway.. loved your finds! Very good advice about your strategy to buy your thrift items!
Yes, I remember Cal Ripken, Jr. and his father, who was a coach, or somehow involved with the Orioles! I remember the Orioles baseball players, Jim Palmer, Brooks Robinson, Frank Robinson, and Boog Powell, who won the 1970 World Series. I’m originally and grew up from Baltimore County, Maryland. Since moved to England 30 years ago, so not familiar with the players nowadays.
Wow Donna, you are well versed in Orioles history! I grew up outside of Baltimore, Jessup MD, before moving to Delaware in my teen years. My hubby loves the Orioles!
I’ve just found your channel and you are so much fun 😊 I’m English but live in France so love collecting antiques and enjoy seeing what you find and what you do to them. Happy Birthday and Anniversary to you both, my husband and I celebrate ours on Sunday 🥰
That’s awesome Cindy! My full name is Cynthia but as a child, my mom called me Cindy and it stuck. I use my full name as my signature. And s your full name Cynthia?
Yes, I remember learning about French seams and before I had an overlock machine that’s how I’d finish my seams. Homer Laughlin was one of the original makers of white ironstone in the US. I have a fantastic pitcher from them showing the American eagle over the English lion (lion and unicorn marks on English ironstone)
I used French seams on most of the dresses I made for daughters when they were babies. The hand made look they create is so pretty! Thanks for the info about Homer Laughlin - your pitcher sounds amazing!
You might spray that feeder with a spray called Weather Defense and it’ll even last longer. Those blue oval dishes..so cute for jello or fruit. I knew you’d pick up the butter dish. I like polished and tarnished too, lol. My favorite was that half basket❤
Those small blue dishes are getting some use around here - we have homemade yogurt and berries as our dessert each night and they are perfect for this! 😊 Thanks for the tip about the feeder!
Happy Anniversary to you both! 🥳🥳🥳🥳 I have that garden gate but mine has that scrollie piece under AND above that tubular bar, it hangs on my bedroom wall.
@@ReinventedDelaware , I found it in an antique shop in the fall moe than 20 years ago for $180, couldn’t justify that, but I went back in the spring and it was still there, same price. I decided to ask the shop if they’d take less and unfortunately it was like $20 less but I figured that since it was still there and since I’m so frugal that I deserve to treat myself occasionally. So yup, brought that baby home and have loved it ever since. I know, that you know what that’s like. Lol
OOOH - I live in Lancaster Co.... (western end... not the touristy direction. But getting close to Hershey so there's that.) We love Sight and Sound and get there about once a year now thanks to Hubby's work. Just found your channel and I'll be subscribing. And our anniversary is today - road trip for us too! (31st). May is a great month!
Happy belated birthday and happy anniversary to you both. Which do you prefer... thrifting or antiquing and why? Next time you get up this way try out Mount Gretna ( a Chautauqua community most active in the summer) Arts Festival or if you prefer indoor activity try the Olde Factory Antique and Thrift Shop in Hummelstown (by Hershey Park).
Agh, you want me to choose between the two most fun things to do??😂😂😂 How could I choose - they are both fun! Thanks for the recommendations. Next time, I will check out those places!
I’m really enjoying your video so far! By now, I’m sure you’ve already figured out what the back said, but I believe it’s Buffalo by Oneida, USA. Looking forward to seeing more of your videos.

A french seam is sewn with the pieces of fabric wrong sides together then turned and pressed and the sewn again with the rights sides together.
