We have always considered "the Holidays" from Christmas until New Years Day. So we leave everything up until New Years. I do exactly what you do, everything goes on the dining room table. I always forget at least one thing!
Same in my family. We decorate around the first week of December and January 1 was always the take down day, both when I was growing up and in my own family. Then we put away the one thing that was missed 😉. LOL
I can see people that put their Christmas decor up prior to Thanksgiving, wanting to have it down by the day after Christmas. For myself, I don’t decorate for Christmas until the weekend after Thanksgiving, so I have my decor up until at least after the new year. No superstition or anything like that for me, just how my mom and I always did it growing up and that’s how I still do it today.
Hi Genevieve. I’ve enjoyed your videos for some time now but have never commented. However, watching this video made me emotional and I had to comment. While you were putting your Christmas decor away I heard a ticking sound and didn’t remember hearing it in your videos before. I have 3 clocks that belonged to my mother, mother-in-law, and mine. Two chime but the one that was my mother’s simply ticks. I love them all but the ticking soothes me as you said. “Things” definitely don’t matter, it’s the memories associated with those things that touch you. Wishing you a blessed and healthy new year.
I strongly recommend a walking pad. When we walk it really shows results on our body and mentally and studies show only about 15 minutes a day. Very easy to store. Mine does not have a bar to hold onto, I just have a chair by me. 30 days and it will become a habit. I look forward to my new year with your videos.

I find that some depression can come with taking down all the holiday happiness. So I actually decorate for winter with a snowy vibe in certain areas of house.
I say progress over perfection. OCD is real and difficult with ADD. I have been trying to declutter. We just have too much. We are in our 60s and it’s time. Tfs. I enjoy your house. Btw, the clicking clock is soothing to me as well. My grandparents had a very ornate Victorian mantle clock from England. My parents had a huge grandfather clock. I’ve been looking for something Ike your grams clock.
What a beautiful gift from your uncle and mother ❤❤ my older brother gave me a quilt he made with some fabric my aunt just gave him that she got after my grandma passed in 1997 that she still had not done anything with ❤ he made one for sister and our other brother too! Here in Belgium we put our tree up at the end of November/begin december. Cus we also have Sinterklaas at 5&6 December. The tree stays up till Three Kings Day (January 6th). But it's always nice to see how to storage all the decorations.

My decor is all down. Did a deep clean and purge. Had a wonderful Christmas with my family and 2 year old granddaughter. Happy yours was filled with love and family. The best feeling EVER! Your clock is beautiful and the story behind it brought me to tears....God Bless You and Your Family.

Be prepared for the ones that wait until New Year's Day or after the 12 Days of Christmas or Epiphany to come out in full force and be astounded that you take your decor down so soon. They might even try to shame you. You've been warned. It has happened to me.
