- Today is a MASSIVE DAY of THRIFTING and antiquing as we are headed to a Salvation Army, an Antique Mall, and a Charity shop on Long Island in New York. We’ll thrift for a bit; I’ll show what I like and my thrift haul at the end of the video. Let’s head to the Salvation Army, where I found an overpriced $40 teapot. Let me know if I’m seeing things with this one or if I was holding something of value and just didn’t know it.
There will be a thrift haul at the end and a little styling so you can see how I plan to use these items.

I love the way you pair back up collections etc. So thoughtful. Every thrift shop needs a person who's a little bit OCD on staff...
Ooh, that vintage pottery bowl with the brown stripe (next to the haunted figurines) may not be your aesthetic but it sure is $$ in antique stores. It was actually a good buy but not if you don't love it.
Right?!? I’ve seen that one in antique stores too. Good eye! I think that’s the one I almost dropped. 😳
It's called yellow ware and I have the same bowl that was my mother in laws. It is valuable.
That was a steal on the yellow ware bowl.
@@leekitchens4303 I kinda regret not getting it.
Yesss, and I literally gasped so loud when it looked like it was falling on her. lol
The 'original art' was actually mass produced and more than likely the frame was either low grade painted wood or plastic. These were sold from late 60s through the 70s. And after that there was a time when mass produced hand painted art was sold through roaming truckload art shows. They had flashy tv commercials and would be in town for weekend events. One could find pretty art if you looked hard but it was mostly junk in nice frames (these were not inexpensive either).
Always check the frames and signatures throughly. Good luck!
Thanks for the information about the art, it's very interesting to learn about the history of older items. It makes sense that these pieces were mass-produced since I see them at almost every thrift store. I'm always looking for a diamond in the rough. 🙂Thanks for watching!
I remember those art shows mostly at hotels they would have these shows, the paintings were truly not good quality 😊
@@christined2495 That's really interesting. I like learning about the history of vintage and antique items. Thank you for sharing!
@ I had gone to a few of these sales on Long Island at hotel ballrooms ,they had hundreds of this type of paintings mostly in the gold frames….
The American made antique bowl was a find....
Nice paintings, indeed.
Love the marble ashtray and how you staged it
Thank you! I was so happy to find it.
Always look for what mark most are what we call collectables. Here in England good luck
Thanks for watching!
You are drawn to the same things I am! Loved a lot of those copper pieces!!!❤
Oh, I love that! Thanks for watching 🥰
I go to this and savers often down the block. They TOTALLY over price at the Salvation Army for hard goods
Man this store had so much good stuff! You passed over a lot of things I would have bought!
Long Island, NY
I just came across your channel, subbed. I love watching thrifting videos because I live over an hour from a real city lol.
Buy a small black light to put on your keychain. The juicer was uranium & so were 3 or 4 other pieces by it, glasses I think.
I love your style, the comments are great. The haunted doll😂
Thanks for watching and subscribing! I'm glad you found me! The black light on a key chain is a good idea. I should also be using Google Lens more 🤦♀
Que cosas tan hermosas venden es Estados Unidos, me encantaría que en México existieran tiendas como esas, que bonito gusto tienes Megan para elegir artículos. Te mando saludos desde Michoacán, México.
Hey there👋 thanks for watching!
I think the tea pot was 3.99 y the "Y" means yellow tag- and can look like a 9. I have seen this when they write the price down and not use a tag. The colors help them know when it's time for things to go . Go back and look at some of the other written prices..Some have b for blue some have g for green and so on.
Yeah, I think so too. Thanks for the info and for watching! Have a nice weekend.
Thank you for sharing your experiences! I love watching your videos! How do you find the different flea markets and tag sales?
You're welcome, I'm glad you are enjoying my videos. ☺ Thanks for watching! I love flea markets because I like seeing what each vendor brings. Prices vary at the fleas I've been to, but most vendors will work with you, which is nice. I don't go to as many tag sales, and I've found that people will call something a "tag sale", but it's really not.
Was that a watts pottery jug? If in good shape would have been a nice score along with the striped pottery bowl
Ooo, I'll have to rewatch to see.
That one brown planter with the insert is specially made for African violets. That a huge one! I would have picked that up along with the brown pottery soup tureen it was only 12.99 and huge!
I’m interested to know if that’s common in your area to have goodwill hand write prices on items? I’ve never seen that in my area…does it wash off easily??
Oh, that’s cool about the African violets, I didn’t know that. The Salvation Army stores and some of the mom and pop thrifts write the prices directly on the items. Goodwill usually has price stickers. All of the prices washed off, thank goodness!
@ oh good, I just kept thinking why why why would they do that!
I believe the teapot said 3.99 Y for the color yellow
That would make more sense.
Because of resellers the prices have gone up in thrift stores.
Ppl saying they can resell for a higher price.
Thrift stores are not thrifty anymore
Chip on spout of tea pot!
Why on earth do they write on the items in marker??? Does that wash off?
I don’t know why they use markers and not stickers. Maybe they have issues with customers removing/moving stickers? Yes, the writing comes off, and usually without ruining the item.
There’s plenty of paintings just like that on auction sites that people will
Pay $40 and more for.
I have no answers on the teapot as it wasn’t something I’d gravitate towards.
True, and on Goodwill's site. Thanks for watching!
THE TEA POT WAS OVER PRICED
I wonder if you live close to me,l donated those paper mache dolls.
You did not! Kimberly, are you teasing me? Are those dolls haunted?
@MegantheWild No!They are just creepy!!
@@kimberlyj.stornello8828 haha. They are a vibe. I'm sure someone scooped them up already!
It's supposed to be goodwill, not Macy's or Macy's prices!
The drip glaze teapot is showing to be worth $18-$28.
