Never use rubber undercoatings, they can increase rust and hide it. If not completely getting rid of the rust use a converter and paint over that, or instead of a converter/paint use fluid film or similar oil products.
@@2pacorwhat It can be done.. Just be careful rust converter may not stick to smooth paint, depending which you use it could flake off once dried. You may need to scuff painted surfaces for it to stick that are not completely rusted through on a frame... similar to painting over paint.

I drive a Land Cruiser 200 and touch up the frame, axle housing, and skid plates every year. Although I wash the frame and underneath every week during the winter, it takes a little work with the power washer, rust converter, and rattle can Rustoleum every spring. Even with all the salt, still nice after 7 winters of salt.
ThTs awesome, thank you for sharing your routine. I need to be more proficient like you with my undercarriage. I’m a little lazy I spouse. During the winter I do wash it once a week.
I use corrosion free which is great for anything rubber such as bushings and for electrical connections such as park neutral switch, starter. Its not flammable and you need to do the inside of the frames. Painting is a waste of time imo.
Second this...for internal non-splash areas: doors, rockers, fender backsides, trunk, trunk lid and hood, strut/shock mount internal areas to trunk and engine bay. Spraying rusted door bottoms it stopped rust completely from first application 2017 to Jan 2023 when I sold it (07 Civic). Salty upstate NY just under the Adirondacks. I do see T9 Boeshield on his bench....which is similar to CF3000. I still think CF3000 creeps more.
If you really want the best protection sand down any rust spots, get some eastwood internal frame coating and get it inside the frame, then spray the frame with rustoleum, after that coat the frame with either fluid film, cosmoline, or any underbody coating and you'll be set for years. I've found rustoleum heavy rust primer, pro rustoleum flat black and then finally duplicolor pro rubberized undercoating make for a good rust killing combo here in the salt belt.
I'm on the west coast and I still find it amazing that 4 years on the east coast could create such damage. And maybe this is dumb question but why don't car manufactures factor the rust issues in their manufacturing processes? Don't seem right.
They do factor it in. Its an inevitable thing. They should go the extra step and undercoat the things with a protecting from the factory. If car companies did everything correct and top notch, the average vehicle would be the cost of a Rolls.

hi guys, I’m from Russia and our roads are actively sprinkled with chemicals, the best protection against corrosion is treatment in 2 stages, first apply a liquid anti-corrosion compound to all cavities (internal hard-to-reach, external), rust stop with cannon grease mixed 80 is ideal for this at 20 where 80 is rust stop and 20 cannon grease, after that you spray it everywhere you can on the bottom and other parts of the car, I applied it everywhere I could, even removing body parts from the car. Attention, the composition must be heated to 100 degrees on an electric stove and applied while it is hot. This should also be done in dry weather so as not to seal water under the oil and develop corrosion. After that, we do the same thing, only now 50 percent Cannon grease and 50 rust stop. And you can no longer touch the hidden cavities. Once a year I update the anti-corrosion protection only on the underside of my car. I will pour the same thing into the thresholds of the car, but first I will seal them with car plastic, drive it for a couple of days in the heat and then salt this composition, after which the car will not rot at all. My car is already 15 years old and the body is in very good condition, although in our region we have the harshest chemicals on the roads. All other cars of my brand and the same years have long since rotted or are in a landfill because my car has bad metal and paint, but anti-corrosive helps, this is very important if you want to preserve your car.

Yes indeed, the actual pile of rust removed from the frame of my 4runner . 😎
Those products are crap!!! Did you do any research?
Pretty bold statement! I did a little research. Not a professional of this area by no means. Bug always open to suggestions
@@VikingsGarage fluid film twice a year then you're good.
Thank you Rooster, I’m on it. Need at least 5 more years out of her.

hi guys, I’m from Russia and our roads are actively sprinkled with chemicals, the best protection against corrosion is treatment in 2 stages, first apply a liquid anti-corrosion compound to all cavities (internal hard-to-reach, external), rust stop with cannon grease mixed 80 is ideal for this at 20 where 80 is rust stop and 20 cannon grease, after that you spray it everywhere you can on the bottom and other parts of the car, I applied it everywhere I could, even removing body parts from the car.
