Thank you for this video...between Fluid Film and Blaster Surface Shield I think I prefer the Blaster product a tiny bit better. The Fluid Film was very messy at the spray nozzle, so was the Blaster-just not as bad...a lot of waste gets gunked up on the container (slippery) and on your hands that should've gone on the vehicle undercarriage. I have a concrete driveway so I spread a plastic drop sheet on the concrete and drove the vehicle on top of it. I'm 70 yrs young and I'm here to tell you I was sore for a week after the 2 day job of laying on my back straining muscles I didn't know I had. Folks should know this is very labor intensive! Did I say it was messy? Wear throw away clothes and eye protection when applying this chem-it sprays and drips all over. Even though I was careful and sprayed only the undercarriage, there is a fine mist that can and did billow up and onto the exterior paint-Any spray on cleaner wax takes it off but you'll use several cloths because that stuff smears and you'll need to change out. There is also a 'special' hose adaptor for your nozzle that fits in the smaller holes of the frame so you can insert that applicator into the inside of the frame and spray it good. I did my 23 4Runner right away when I got it new; but hired it done for our 24 RAV4! As you indicated-LOTS OF WORK BUT DOABLE FOR ANYONE WILLING TO CLIMB UNDER AND GIT'R DONE. I used 6-7 cans of the product. It's not difficult work but time consuming and you WILL have soreness if you're an old man like me LOL! I live in Minnesnowta-don't mind the snow but the salt they put down is ridiculous-but saves lives I guess. Impossible to keep your vehicle clean in Winter if you drive it every day. Retirement makes it easier-just stay home and avoid driving! I called the maker of Blaster and the person I talked to said to avoid washing the undercarriage in winter so you don't wear off the protectant. I sure didn't want to hear that...nothing's ever easy is it?

      Use Corrosion Free spray
It dosent drip,no mist and works as good as fluid film.
They'll ship right to your door.

Somewhat on the rust note, i try and drop my spare at least once every few months just to exercise everything and clean that area. But especially this time of year. I drop it, spray all around up in there with fluid film and check the tire pressure of the spare just for peace of mind! Keep the awesome videos coming !! 🫡

I've seen people have to cut the chain to get their spare. As if having a flat isn't enough of a bummer, imagine your spare being seized up 😅
Plus, lord knows you'll be on a trail or on the side of the highway when it's raining sideways at night and cars going by you at 80mph lol Last thing you want then is the spare to not work OR get it mounted and lower the jack just to find the spare it low on air from just not checking it. Seriously it's a 5 minute deal to lower your spare, check the tire pressure, spray some WD40 around, and put it back. Just do it every now and then and you'll be fine!

I have never really gone through the trouble of trying to remove existing rust, but I do annual treatments using a number of products. I’ve used fluid film, NH oil undercoating, Cosmoline, white lithium grease on high traffic areas. A mixture of all at times too. I find buying it in bulk and applying with a compressor goes on much thicker, but the cans are definitely quicker/easier. The trick is to do it every year, even twice a year. Rust never sleeps. It never stops. You can’t win but you can slow it down a lot and maybe prevent a little.

If we ever start to get real winters again in the north east, I will switch to every year getting touched up.

Last year I sprayed my whole frame inside and out, everything underneath. But I drive on a lot of gravel/dirt roads for work, On the first couple weeks out after that I noticed the dirt and dust from the roads clung to the oil residue all over the whole frame and absorbed it until it fell or washed off. Eventually I seemed to take most of it off..... That was frustrating.... I sprayed 10-11 cans total on my 4Runner.... Also comically/not funny, sprayed the interior of the door panels and rear hatch, so much dust/dirt got sucked into the rear hatch through the window openings its full of dirt so much that it's too heavy for the struts now..... Spray paint for rust protection is forever. Spray and watch the rattle can overspray, micro paint particles released into the air, also dust the tops of your vehicles. what a mess for my mistake. Remember the car paint videos they show with the car in the booth with every surface not wanted to be touched by paint heavily masked! Wax: in the early 70's mercedes advertisements were so proud to tell you how much wax they had injected into the tower headlights fenders that had been in their lineup since the early 60's and owners started seeing the rust form on the top of the fenders in the early year models. Regrettably, wax or no wax, the tops of the fenders of the 70's MB's also rusted out, until MB changed the design of the front end in the mid-seventies. The Car Care nut just evaluated the 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser, he was so proud to show the holes in the part-frames of that unibody truck (an oxymoron) underneath, stating that toyota injected wax into those holes for rust prevention at the factory. Just here long enough to see that wheel come round full circle. OIl patch in the mid '80s crash: when the derrick owners had to mothball their rigs, they sprayed everthing with cosmoline, left 'em sitting in a field. When demand picked back up they washed the cosmoline off the derricks and went back to work. Don't know about the new Marvel mystery oil(s), but cosmoline works.

Thanks for the video. I’m planning spray my 24’ 4Runner in a week or two when I’m due for a 5K oil change. I’m planning to use the regular fluid film (not black). My issue is my actual drive way is sloped, so I have to pull it into the garage. (Will use 6 ton jack stands). If you think the Fluid Film Black is really a better choice for my new 4Runner; let me know.
