Great vid crew.... 👍🙏 As a child this was my favourite playground on the peninsula.... It was always a fun day when the steam locos came to Mornington and were turned around on the table. So stupid to close this service... 👍
This brings back lovely memories for me when we moved to Mornington from New Zealand way back in 2000, where we lived for a couple of years when my 2 little kids were toddlers until we moved up to Narren Warren. We rode the railway once with their grandad. My friends who live down the road on the Nepean highway are still there. Mornington will always be a place to call home. 😀
I have a short video on my phone (taken in April 2017) from the walking track just where the Baldock Road crossing is at 10:34. The video shows the engine and carriages rolling by. The green painted engine had the ID plate K 163 We walked that track many times having lived nearby for more than 40 years. All the land to the right just before that crossing was paddocks then, with cows. The photo of trees on my account name is very close to that crossing. Our family did that train ride from Moorooduc to Mornington in November 2018. At that time, according to the photo I took, the locomotive was a diesel electric T334 (1956) or T411 (1968). I still have the ticket on the work bench in my shed ! Thanks for the great video!
Interesting way maintenance. The shrubbery isn't actually growing on the tracks, and the trees aren't actually within gauge of the rolling stock, but there's not much in it. The track itself looks pretty good. Things grow fast around here when there is rain.
@@driver667 my understanding, gained from people I know who are involved with the railway, is that there is a long-term goal to restore the section to Baxter, but no defined timeframe for it to happen. The track is intact, but overgrown in many parts, plus the fact it has been disused for more than 40 years mean there will be considerable work to make it operational again.

@@bewleymatt it's a line that I believe was closed prematurely. 👍😀

@@australianbloke3934 you're welcome. Glad you enjoyed some great memories of the railway and the area. 👍😀
A nice big thumping diesel in the background, music to one’s ears!
It is 😀😀👍
It's one I've not been on in Melbourne. Probably as hubby grew up in Mornington just near it in Tanti Park.
Well worth a visit and ride if you get the chance. 👍😀

Excellent video
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it 👍😀
I liked the Tanti station, green grass platform, nice.
Do they still run the other side of Moorooduc on to Frankston etc? That would make a nice vid.
@@paulstubbs7678 no, the track past Moorooduc is not used at this stage. It would be nice to see it run into Baxter. 👍😀

@@anthonyducat1093 I wish them well in their strive for Baxter 👍😀
Could you let the subtitles stay longer on the screen? Or redisplay when leaving a station? That would be very helpful.

Is a service to Mornington potentially in store for the future? Great video 👍
Apart from the tourist railway, no I don't imagine Mornington getting trains back again. 👍😀
Congrats on 8k mate'
Thank you. 👍 It's a lot of work but it's getting up there. 👍😀

@@warrenscarlett9302 very happy you enjoyed it 👍 😀
Does T411 not have an 8-645? Sound's like a 567...
I don't know of it being changed at all, but I haven't queried it with Mornington either. 👍😀
I like this tourist railway
Very glad to hear you like it 👍 😀
The Mornington tourist railway is one of the best railways I’ve ever seen
