Great video! The fix worked perfectly and was able to save hundreds of dollars in calling a repair man. Hose split in the back and was able to trim it and route extra through the top from door. Thanks for the help!

That “extra” water line in the door is your water tank. It’s what provides you with a cold glass of water. A lot of manufacturers have stopped using an actual tank and have gone to using a coil of tubing like yours.
Great idea to use some of that line to avoid buying a new tank!

saved my life in 1 min, all I needed to know was how to take the pipe out of that stupid elbow thingy, my cut in the pip wasnt that long so I was able to just snip off the bad part and bend it a little more towards the non cracked portion of the pipe. Thank you so much. literally the only person I've find that even just acknowledges the existence of this other water line and not just the main part.

Brilliant!!! My hose broke in exactly the same spot. Scratched my head for several minutes trying to get the back of the fridge off. I'm so glad you pulled me to the front of the fridge. 8 minutes later I've got water!!!

I attempted this fix a few years ago but couldn't figure it out, find a diagram, a video, or anything. Thank you!!!!

Thanks mate. Helped me fix the same issue with the tubing cracked at the same spot. It's obviously too much of a bend in that position so I'll be replacing it with an elbow fixture for a long term solution to avoid another crack from bend-fatigue at that location.

Another thank you! My water line split at the bend in the back of the fridge. I have been putting off repair for months. Your video is exactly what I needed! I had thought the line went into the filter compartment and was trying to get that apart. Glad I stopped to do a search on UA-cam!

The spring at the top of the door, is supposed to go inside the door with some staying on the outside. The doing is protecting the hose as you open and close the door both inside the door liner and up top at the door hinge.
Sir, it’s videos like your that keep me in business.

That roll of tubing is the water tank. It holds water to chill so you dispense cold water. Don’t cut it.

Thanks for this! I was able to repair my cracked tubing issue in minutes using 6” of the “extra” line. Perfect!

Great fix - right on time for my water line that broke today in the exact same spot. I, also, appreciate you doing the nug work of finding the water line route ingress and egress spots. Extremely helpful for those of us with an actual household worth of food in their fridge.
But do you really need to pull out the water line and re-route it through the door and through the top? Seems like you can just uncoil some excess line (makeshift water tank) and push it through, minding the protecting coil.
I’ll, also, look to lessen and/or reinforce the exit angle at the back. That seems to be the most common point of failure.
    Excellent video! Thank You!
    UPDATE!!
Thanks to this video I was able to make the repair in about 30 minutes. I did unplug my refrigerator fully loaded but was able to keep the door closed most of the time to maintain interior temperature.
No need to rerun the water line. Just remove the covers, cut the zip ties on the water tank/excess line and push it through. You’ll have to watch the protective spring coil.
WARNING: Take caution uncoiling the water tank/excess line. You’ll have to recoil it when you’re done and fit it behind the panel. I let mine fully uncoil and it was a little work getting it to fit back in. If anyone else buys my house or fridge and has to do the same they’ll question my workmanship. I’m good with that.
All in all, fantastic and extremely helpful video! Thank you!

Great Video! I've fixed the ice maker on this exact unit and now I've fixed this water line. Curious why LG didn't choose a braided water line hose. My water line snapped from use just like the one in this video. I've been looking for a fix for this for quite some time. I even had a repair person come out and say they needed order a "part" that was on back order and never heard from him again. This video saved me time and money! This is a very simple fix and I even ordered the reservoir through your affiliate link! Thank you so much!

Now you don't have cold water, you cut off your cold water tank.
