I can’t believe I fixed the problem and it cost me nothing! I opened the fridge doors to examine the water line at the bottom. I separated the water lines and water came out from one end. My son said to leave the door open to see if it would defrost on its own. After about 20 min I closed the door and pressed the water dispenser and a piece of ice shot out. I’m so happy I didn’t have to pay a fortune! 😂😅

Thanks, great vid! FYI: I fixed my frozen water line after watching your vid in just minutes using a plastic syringe I already owned, microwaved water to boiling, put on some oven mits to protect my hands/arms and just filled the syringe with boiling water and shot it into the dispenser opening and that worked great and was almost immediate!

Important to learn why it's freezing though. In my case someone had accidentally bumped to temp control slider in the back of the fridge so the freezer was set to the coldest possible setting. Moving that slider back to normal setting fixed the problem.

Dude, ………you’re my new hero! My ice was working, but the water dispenser was not. I opened the freezer door and took and old quilt and covered the freezer compartment to keep it cold. I left the freezer door open for about 45 minutes and viola, the water dispenser worked like it was supposed to. Thanks for posting this video.

I fixed this for free by simply putting all my frozen food into a cooler, turning the freezer control to the off position, keeping the freezer door open, and allow the door to warm to room temperature, thus thawing the water line. No need to call for a repair, and no need to buy a syringe!

Thank you so much! This was very helpful!
Like the comments suggested, I simply opened the door for five minutes. Then I used a syringe that comes with any medicine, put boiling water in it, and squeezed it up.
It fixed it within a few minutes!
    No extra purchase needed.
Without the insight of the video, I wouldn’t have understood what was causing the problem and known how to fix it.

Seems like that might work if the freeze is just barely above the exit point - if its frozen higher up though I assume you need the tubing to reach it

I used this method with a bigger childrens syringe for medicine and going back and forth with really hot water. Saved a few bucks but thanks for your video for prompting the similar approach, worked for me. I also used someone else's idea about insulating the door with cheap hotpads to help prevent the line from getting frozen again. Thanks!

I really appreciated your video, it saved me a lot of money (probably around $200.00). I wasn't getting any filtered water from my Frigidaire refrigerator and I did troubleshoot the problem down to a frozen water line inside the freezer door. The trouble was that nothing I tried to thaw the line out was working, that is, until I saw your video. I bought a water buddy type tool thru Amazon and it came yesterday afternoon. It cost me a total of $23.46 and it only cost that much because I paid an extra $10 for next day delivery. Prior to this, I had called a service technician and asked him about fixing the problem before seeing your video and he told me that he would charge me $80 just to come over and diagnose the problem, yet alone fix it. I envisioned him tearing my freezer door apart and finding all sorts of non-relevant problems to charge me more money. Anyway, it took 4-5 syringes of hot water to open up (bore thru) the frozen section (took about 3 minutes). Thanks again, you are a money saver. What a relief when the water started flowing again!

The root cause of our frequent freeze-up was the small solenoid that pulls the ice dispenser flap open had corrosion build-up which created friction that prevented the flaps spring from being able to snap the flap closed after ice had been dispensed. With the flap partially open, cold air leaks out near the water tube and made it freeze. It is easy to pop the control panel off, remove a few screws, remove solenoid and clean/lubricate it.

You Rock!!! I replaced the water valve at the back left of the frig thinking it was that. since Ice was working... No dice, so I then suspected it was my control board but all test were good... So I kept wondering what else it could be as I did here a click of the relay when the water actuator was pushed in...Never knew of this location... didn't have the hose, but did have a syringe with hot water and walaaaa! it worked🤩 ... So now I've turn the frig to a higher setting as not to have this happen too often😁

It was exactly what was wrong with mine but I did a little bit different. I used a heat gun on the tip, where it dispenses out of the refrigerator on and off without melting it, and it heated up enough to melt the ice through the line ,then I used weedeater string to put through it to see if it was clear and the water works. Perfect thanks for Sharing . make sure your freezer is not on the highest setting that will also cause The waterline to freeze.

I had the same problem. I filled a 2 cup measuring cup with warm water, used a Turkey syringe and unscrewed the needle using only the plunger section 💉 similar to the one used in the video.
I placed the measuring cup with warm water under the dispenser to catch the water as I blasted warm water into the water line directly from the plunger end of the syringe.
After a few water blasts the dispenser started to work again.

I found in my refrigerator, the cooling can where the water sits to be cooled had frozen lines. I took out this reservoir with the two tubes on it, jay it in the sun for a minute, then fixed a tyre pump on one end of the reservoir and pump air with pressure trough it to blow out the blockage. That wax it.

I looked at all the videos on this repair. It was indeed frozen or plugged. I pulled the face plate off of the front of my icemaker. Three screws hidden by the removable tray. Unplugged the electrical to the face plate. I then pulled the hose out of the dispenser nozzle. I then disconnected the quick release fittings and pulled the hose out the bottom of the door. It was full of ice. Cleaned it out and reinserted the hose in the bottom of the door. Will need someone to hold a light to get the hose back in the dispenser. Hooked hose back up at bottom of door. Cut water back on. ( yes make sure water is off incase you bump the switch). Had plenty of water. Also cut my freezer temp back a little and hope it don't freeze again.

I have an Ikea fridge (made by Whirlpool) with the dispenser inside the fridge on the left side. The freezer is a drawer at the bottom. So far the only water lines I can find are on the back of the fridge. The inlet is at the bottom right corner, and there are lines going from there to the filter (and back), the dispenser, and the ice maker. The one from the filter to the dispenser felt cold to the touch, the rest are room temp. I'm not sure if I need to remove the panel at the bottom to get to where I can detach lines, but I'll try the tool when it comes tomorrow and see if I can get enough warm water in there to melt the ice without disconnecting any lines first.

This will work, but, sometimes it'll only be very temporary. GE refrigerators have a manufacturer defect. Not enough insulation in the door, around the water line. This has been going on for years. In this case, you must install a water line heater. They are a pain to install because of the large wire taps. the heaters will last about 2 years, maybe.
I have to go back to a house next week because I thought I had the problem fixed using a water buddy only. Got to install the heater. :(

Ive a similar Samsung fridge Ive Ice and no water changed the filter still no water from dispenser, I took off the panel down the bottom and disconnected the valve like in the video here and no water squirts out of the pipe when I press in the water dispenser, I can hear a noise like a motor whirring when I press it in...Ive already changed the solenoid in the back of the fridge saw that in another video so at this stage Im really puzzled...as i no its not the filter and the solenoids where replaced only thing i can think of is a blockage in the pipe that runs from the solenoid along the front of the fridge...wonder if I disconnect it from the solenoid and use a syringe on the part that he had disconnected in the valve in the video at the front of the fridge would that flush any blockage? I mean surely if the water is getting to the icemaker then it should be getting to the dispenser? its defintely not frozen..

Mine has been freezing every day. I already defrosted the line and it re freezes overnight. My Frigidaire side by side is 12 years old so I believe the insulation in the door is wearing down. I’m going to try the GE in line heater from Amazon it’s less than $10, the Frigidaire in line is $375-575. It may not work if the line is frozen too far down the door which I suspect. In that case I’m going to remove the inside door panel and re insulate around the plastic tubing with refrigerant line insulation. They sell it at big box hardware stores. I’m determined to fix this and I’m not spending what Frigidaire wants

You may have some ice getting stuck in the ice section dispenser shaft louver (round gate). This will allow very cold air to escape from the freezer and get into the section where your water line is located. This is what happened to me. I had to use the syringe and hose to melt the ice blockage..Try cleaning the area around the gate and where it seals and then make sure your gate closes properly after dispensing some ice, especially at nite before going to bed. Hope this helps you...
