Why are players wearing padded helmets at NFL training camps?

  • For the first time ever, the NFL is requiring linemen and linebackers to wear a 'guardian cap' to limit head injuries.

    They should wear those added guardian's 100% of the time, protecting the players from brain injury should be paramount.

      I agree, but I feel like it would benefit somewhat to go without helmets (hear me out) the main thing that causes concussions are when the brain rocks back and forth, and helmets cannot prevent this. So, to minimize head to head collisions taking away helms to use them as shields could actually reduce brain damage

    I believe these should be mandatory for youth and professional......anyone who thinks otherwise has never played the game or doesnt play the game.

    Funny that the comments are sour that players are protecting their brains more in training camp. Not sure what there is to be mad about with players trying to limit their injuries in training camp

    It would be great if high school and under had this technology. Otherwise they shouldn’t be playing tackle football. They don’t get the benefits NFL players do.

    Clearly those are not "padded helmets" the team took a hot tub time machine to the early seventies and those are all afros. What, it could happen.

    Aye it's time for nfl to get rid of helmets if they want to get rid of concussions like how a7fl does it. Nfl can still be 11 vs 11 but without the helmets and pads.

      hey i wished I had Safer Helmets back when i played which was in Lates 2000's to Early 2010's but sure them taking an extra measures shouldn't be criticize its all about Mitigation we wouldnt want TJ Hockensen to be a Vegetable when he calls it quits
